  We always have a lovely evening in this restaurant, had the melon and ham starter followed by the salmon and an amazing dessert. All were delicious. My family all enjoyed theirs too. Amazing food, friendly staff and an incredible view to watch the sunset. Would highly recommend.   Me and my partner were drawn to this place because of reading about the work they do to help the local community cats which we absolutely love. The food we had was brilliant and the views are great.   We had the squid and garlic bread to start. I found this delicious however my partner was not so keen. We had to wait for the starter for a while. We did asked for some olives or small accompliment but they did not have. We had the lobster, mussels, clams and King prawns for our main meal. This was a little too much watery sauce with a tomato base and not much flavour. The lobster was nice, unfortunately was not great as not much actual lobster or seafood and too much of the watery sauce. White wine was good. Unfortunately we have to rated it a 2 for food and waiting times. We rated the staff friendliness and service as a 4 or 5 as they did try to accommodate and gave the place a good atmosphere.   We first came to this restaurant in the 80’s, food and service was amazing and we were regular visitors each year on our family holiday. After Jean Paul sold the restaurant we didn’t return until last year. Food and service was excellent so we thought we’d return again this year. We pre booked and even though we were the first entry in their book we were told we couldn’t reserve the table in the corner overlooking the sea. When we arrived the table we were given lacked atmosphere and although some in our party enjoyed their food mine was no where near the quality I expected. Sadly we all agreed we will look elsewhere next year. The photo on the left was taken in 1998 the good days of Jean Paul, the one on the right last year.   Really nice view, good service and prices, however the calamari I ordered was obviously from the freezer, factory-produced and a bit tasteless - not fresh calamari which I had expected. But the view made up for it. Bit annoyed that the waiter confiscated my bottle of water as soon as I sat down and never returned it - I was drinking their beer anyway, so why do they care if you are carrying a bottle of water in the 32 degrees heat?   This place was lovely at first and the waiters we had were really friendly. However, we had squid which was very overcooked with no flavour or seasoning and alot of the vegetables in the veggie cataplana were undercooked. We werent asked how the food was halfway through the service either. My friend went to the lavatory half way through dinner and when opening the door to leave, the door nearly hit a waitress (it didnt) but the restaurant is very slim so not much room to scoot around eachother. The waitress gave my friend a really rude look even though you cant look through a wooden door(?!) to see if someone is walking past and then we could tell that her and the lady at the front by the bar were looking and talking about us which made us feel uncomfortable.   This place is situated in a lovely spot which is easy to get to and is a short walk from the town square and also the beach. Part of the seating is overlooking the sea and is a scenic setting whilst you're eating. The staff are very welcoming and go above and beyond to ensure your visit is a happy one. The food is freshly prepared and is absolutely delicious, even the seagulls are looking on hoping to swoop down and try some!! There is also a cat that visits the diners and the staff were friendly to it which we liked as we love cats! This is definitely a place to grab a bite whilst staying in the area. It is family friendly and there is a wide range of dishes available on the menu. The prices are very reasonable too, especially considering the portion sizes and the quality of the food.   Avoid this DUMP. If I could give zero stars I would. They serve you cold food after an hour wait. Chicken was not fresh. Rude staff, we asked if we could switch seats for a sea view to which we were told no, then the family that was beside us switched to the free table with no problem. Over priced. No discount given for freezing cold food, when questioned on this he said that it was unusual that our food was cold and we would have to pay full price. Manager ran into a back room when confronted on this. They don’t include any fries or sides these cost extra.   I had a very bad experience. The staff is rude and the restaurant has ants and flies running around. We had to wait for 1 hour for the food, other people who came 20 min after me got their food first. The food wasn't great either, the chicken I ordered was pink inside and the fries were very hard. The reason I even give the restaurant 1 star is because of their pina colada which was good. This restaurant is not good and do not recommend others to come here. The food wasn't great either.   Had both the whole seabass & the swordfish on two different nights, beautiful worth the short wait for a table on a busy night, hard to get a table for 1! But the guy outside was lovely & made sure i was sorted Food good value for money & tasted very fresh, Swordfish is one of my favourites & try to get it fresh back home is hard to find on a menu, that size portion would be twice the price even if it was frozen rubbish! Give them credit only a small place with a simple menu but tasty, cooked well * lovely view over the sea, just what im after on my hols.   Really disappointing experience. Advised to go here by our friendly taxi driver who suggested it is the best restaurant in Albufeira. He spoke to the waiter as his son used to work there and told us we would be treated like 'kings and queens'. I was recommended to order the Portuguese Steak for a real treat. Upon entering, we asked if we could have a table by the glass for a sea view but were laughed at and told we need to wait weeks for a sea view. Fair enough... Olives came, inedible due to how salty they were. Like they were soaked in salt water and then salted afterwards. Mozzarella salad for starters; Mozzarella pearls (already a bad sign) and poor orange tomatoes. Bland with no seasoning (not even any basil..) My steak was supposed to be medium rare, but it was nearly well done. I must admit it was a nice cut of meat, but it was very poorly cooked. My wife's pasta dish looked like the fresh ready packs of Ravioli you buy in supermarkets... We passed on our issues to the team who were very apologetic and offered us a free drink at the end.   We - more or less - stumbled into this restaurant one day during our 2 days visit in albufeira and were so happy that we visited it the next day again. The view is fantastic, the food is delicious and the staff is mindful, pleasant and the overall experience was very pleasant. We had (within the 2 days) the tomato soup, the goat cheese, tomato salad, omelette with prawns, the fish cataplana and veggie cataplana, bread, olives and the mozzarella salad. The portions were good, the price totally ok and we loved the seasoning. No tourist scam, we would totally recommend going there. Thank you!   I had the seafood cataplana. I hadnt got a clue what it was but i was pleasantly suprised when the waiter came to the table with a big copper cauldron full of a fish stew. Very tasty with a variety of fish and shellfish. I would recommend anyone giving it a try. We sat on the open veranda overlooking Albufara bay and watched the moon rise up over a clear sky.   We were served by Romeo! He is such an amazing person, very friendly, polite and funny, was very quick with banter, and really made our night! Food was incredible and the silver service was a lovely touch to being served. I requested a straw as I have braces and find it easier to drink out of a straw, and Romeo brought me a metal straw in which he held in a napkin and put it in my glass for me.   We picked this restaurant for Valentines Day, based on reviews and the supposed great food and service. We were rather disappointed by the whole experience which was nothing special. The only indication of romance was a few rose petals scattered on the table. ..we ordered a Portugal gin Martini which was cloudy in appearance and tasted oddly citrusy. Our waiter explained that they rim the glass or infuse citrus, not sure of the explanation? There was nowhere to put the olive pits or toothpick from the drink so we put them in the rose petals, no plates on table or cocktail napkins.Our waiter Romeo was very nice and made a show of decanting the upselled wine! Have had better Douro wine from the grocery store. We ordered a Cataplana after another client at the next table recommended and it looked tasty. We found it didn’t have much seasoning or flavour ; you had to order potatoes separately. Any other cataplanas we,ve had come with! I overheard the next door diner say an Off remark to JP, who seemed to be the head server about our server, to which he agreed. Very unprofessional! Overall, this dining experience can only be rated 3 star as the meal did not match the price point at all. We did enjoy having Romeo as a waiter even with the upswell of the wine. As well the Brandy that he served with a flair. We wont be back; think we were shot by Cupid on this special evening.   Came here for lunch and it was utterly delightful! Sea views, friendly staff, and a very good value lunch menu. We had the clams from the main menu to start between us which were fantastic. We then each had a lunch menu dish: peri peri chicken for my husband and grilled sardines for me. Both were generous portions for just €9.50 a dish. We also had a lovely bottle of rosé.   By far the best dish we've had in Portugal so far! My partner and I went there today at 5pm and was able to get prime spot overlooking the beach & sunset, food was divine - we tried traditional, locally sourced dishes - the grilled seabass & monk fish catlapana followed with the Tiramasu. Servers were super attentive, knowledgeable on the dishes and helped recommend some of the local dishes.   I got served the most gorgeous Caesar salad there twice. Sadly, the trend didn’t continue. The next two times were horrible, I ended up with a fly in my salad one day, and with a few chef’s hairs another day. A staff member was apologetic on both occasions, got me a discount for the fly and a full write off for the hairs, however, it still ruined my impression of this restaurant. I’d therefore highly recommend everyone to pay attention to what they are served, and complain to the waiter if they see anything in their plates. The open air space is not to blame for “surprises” like that, and you should expect no such objects in your food. The sea view is gorgeous though, and the waiters were friendly (separate thanks to Romeo who was dealing with my salad complaints), however, if I find myself in Albufeira again, I won’t be coming back to this place. Have knocked off a star as they only serve small bottles of water and the wait for the food was a little long however if we were told this, it wouldn't have been an issue.   Went in on our last night and wasn't disappointed, fantastic views, waiters Sergio and Romeo couldn't be more helpful and accommodating. The knowledge they had on every part of the menu was excellent. My wife had the pate ,then chicken in pepper sauce with chocolate fondant to finish with. I had the onion soup, monkfish cataplana(which was delightful by the way) then I had the panna cotta along with 2 sof drinks for only 51.80 we were so happy with the gorgeous food we gave 60 euro let them keep the change . Will definitely be back here when we go back to albufeira.   Me , my partner and his parents have visited here 3 times this week for dinner and never been disappointed. They have been before in past holiday too.   This has been the best dinner in the south coast of Portugal. The squid and shrimp catlapana was the best traditional dish we had. I would also recommend the white sangria. The views and the breeze was just perfect for dinner. The staff was very friendly and helpful in making sure we had a great time. Highly recommend the beach basket.   The Beach Basket is situated just above the "tunnel" in the Old town. The restaurant has great views over the bay of Albufeira. We both had traditional Cataplana's. The service was good and the bill was reasonably priced. The restaurant served Mahou beer on draught and although its not Portuguese, its one of my favourite Spanish beers.   Spent 6 days in Albufeira and ate here 3 times! It looks pretty unassuming from the outside but the food and staff are top notch. The seafood rice is huge, so filling, and so delicious. The drinks are great, as are the appetizers and other dishes we tried. But the staff in particularly are lovely - each time we came back they treated us like family. Absolutely loved it!   Me and the wife came across the restaurant by chance instead of being told it was the best restaurant in all the lands we just picked it and well we picked right. The setting was just before sunset we sat in the small courtyard out back, the service was friendly and happy the food was amazing, I ordered a pepper steak Emma's was Portugese steak, I can tell you now medium was rare/medium but with the saurce the people who dont like rare will love it it melted in my mouth. Emma's steak was a little over cooked but the saurce was amazing and is going into her cook book.   One of the worst meals I've ever had. The meal I ordered was terrible. I ordered the fried fish. The fish was bony, dry and not fresh. It came with a side of boiled rice, contrary to what was advertised on the menu. The menu said it came with baked potatoes and veg. I did say this to the waitress who told me I was wrong. There was no sauce for the fish either. I asked for tartare, garlic mayo, anything to give this bland and dry meal a bit of flavour. They gave me sachets of mayo. Still didn't make the meal any better. I picked at it but it really was one of the worst meals I've ever had. My husband had the steak and that was only adequate. I observed what other customers were eating and it didn't look great either. I did see some really positive reviews on Google about the beach basket so perhaps a new chef or management took over. I am not a miserable killjoy either. I rarely leave a negative reviews but unfortunately I have to today. Take my advice and eat somewhere else in the old town.   I booked this beautiful place after seeing on line and getting recommendations from a few friends. Well where do I start... This has got to be one of the nicest meals we have ever eaten. I booked for my husband's birthday and we were placed on the outside patio - all 8 of us The view was something to die for overlooking the beautiful beach in albufeira. We were greeted by a lovely chap who wished my hubby a happy birthday and shook his hand. The table was dressed immaculately with beautiful decoration. The staff helped source me a beautiful chocolate cake and the fizz we ordered was waiting for us in a huge ice cooler. We were initially served by Rita who had a fantastic personality and was so knowledgeable about the dishes. She is like a walking brain box and didnt need to write our orders down. The food was absolutely delicious and the seafood was some of the best we have eaten. The staff were so attentive and made is feel so special. We had wine poured throughout the meal which was a lovely touch. Rita finished her shift and Romeo took over. He too was so attentive. From the food, to the staff to hospitality we are completely in awe. What a beautiful place.   It took 40 mins for our food to arrive and my wifes chicken was under cooked, when it was brought to the waiters attention, he took it back with no follow up. When we went to settle the bill they wanted to charge us for my wifes bill. Service and customer satisfaction is not very high on their list of priorities. Not a nice experience whatsoever.   Just visited here with my family and the food was gorgeous. If you want something a little different from the generic "chips with everything" then this is a great place to visit.   Very nice view and classy place. I had a very good steak, but my relative ordered portuguese steak well-done and got it medium- and chef "grilled" it again and beef was still medium.. He/she obviously could've grilled it at the first time, but probably didn't want, because lot of chefs think that beef gets ruined and dry if it's well-done.   Staff are very friendly and helpful which is why we come back every time we are in Albufeira. Rita is welcoming and full of energy. Makes it worth while coming here. It's an OK menu with something for everyone but does need a bit of updating. Recommend the sea bass. The goats cheese starter is huge and to die for. My favourite is the chicken salad, simple but tasty. If you can fit in a sweet then have the tiramisu.   The best meal and service of our holiday! We had the monkfish and prawn cataplana and were blown away. The fish was cooked to perfection with beautiful taste, it cost €16 each. The staff were attentive, helpful, smily and happy- all with a great sense of humour making tables laugh and connect with eachother. A great vibe!   Good food, good service. Great place if you want seafood. The view from here is also beautiful. The restaurant overlooks the Albufeira beach which makes for a great view!   The monkfish medallions were incredible. The fish was moist and tender, just perfect. The tiramisu didn't look amazing, but tasted pretty good. The service however was terribly slow from the beginning to the end. This was true for our table and every other table around, and some customers complained loudly. There were three waiters for a medium sized restaurant which doesn't seem lacking but for some reason we had to wait forever for the menu, then for the drink, then for someone to take the order, then for the food, even went up to the bar to pay quick and got stuck there too! We were informed that there is corn in a vegetable gratin but there wasn't! I understand English is not their first language but they should know the names of the ingredients in English considering the number of English speaking tourists visiting their city!
