  We dined there 5 out of 10 nights staying in Albufeira, trying something different off the menu each night. Only wished we had dined there everynight. Each meal was perfectly cooked, plentiful and very good value. Superb Host Gina, Jockey and brilliant Chef Rhys.   Four of us were lucky enough to get a reservation. All four of us were very happy with the quality and portions of the food. I had garlic mushrooms to start, followed by cod, chips and mushy peas. All to die for. The cod was a huge fillet, very fresh with a crispy English batter. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation.   If you are looking for great steak or ribs, a friendly welcome and superbly run restaurant, you've found the place. Our last night in Albufeira and after experiencing a lot of Portuguese food we just fancied steak done right. It was last minute so dropped Gina an email and lucky we did as even though the town is pretty quiet the Cockerel was near fully booked. She managed to fit us in early which suited us fine. Had already decided on the mixed steak, ribs & chicken platter but lots of other dishes on offer. Nothing fancy or pretentious but honest and well priced. It didn't disappoint. Rib eye steaks cooked perfectly med-rare, huge rack of bbq ribs, two different glazed chicken breast, roast baby toms & peppers, sweet potato fries, muchrooms and onion rings. Everything spot on and we near devoured the lot, bar a couple if ribs. The place had a lovely vibe with clearly plenty of regulars greeted by Gina & the team. If you are craving a steak or want to try steak pie, fish chips & mushy peas or a Sunday roast here's the place to go... But do book as it must get crammed once the season is in full swing. Bifes de lombo cozidos perfeitamente mal passados, enorme costela de churrasco, dois peitos de frango glaceados diferentes, toms e pimentões assados, batata-doce frita, muchrooms e anéis de cebola. Tudo certo e quase devoramos tudo, exceto algumas costelas. O lugar tinha uma vibração adorável, com muitos frequentadores regulares recebidos por Gina e pela equipe.   Amazing ribs, it’s soo tender that the meat just falls off. Had to come back again, def worth a visit. Would also recommend the garlic prawns and their homemade piri piri sauce. Also the staff were very friendly and helpful. Only downside: what ever you will eat you will come out of there full and tired. The portions are massive.   I walked into this place as a SINGLE dinner. I have been eating as a single person all over Albufeira for a week with no problems finding a single table anywhere. There were at least 3 empty tables, definitely one in the left hand corner. The lady looked me dead in the face and said she was booked up until next week lol. For bland pub food?   Fantastic restaurant. Gina and her staff do an amazing job here. The food is always amazing, served within a reasonable time and the portions are also more than adequate ( I wouldn't wear a belt if you were going ). Pricing is good too, especially for the amount you get. Drinks are standard price wise. Not paying more than what you would usually expect to pay.   We visited here twice on holidays to albuferia and it was absolutely the best food we had all week. I can totally believe all the excellent reviews and it's easy to see why the restaurant is always busy. We had different meals off the menu on both nights and everything was so fresh and the portions are very generous. The price is also very good value and they have a full bar. Staff are friendly and attentive and service was excellent!   Solid 4.8 for this place. The meal portions are very sizable, if you can't eat much then don't order a starter. I had the chicken wings to start, which were very nice, but don't order if you don't like garlic. The ribs were fantastic and as big as my forearm, the meat literally falls off the bone.   We found this place on our last night I wish it had been the first we probably would have eaten there for the two weeks. The staff were so friendly and helpful we had the fish and chips we all said it was the best fish we had ever tasted.   Good quality food But just ridiculous huge portions, beef pie was good but was dry and needed gravey boat accompiment, four vegetables not necessary, boiled broccoli and cauliflower not overcooked, boiled carrots bit like school dinner food and frozen peas are frozen peas, fish excellent but again more whale like than cod like, wine expensive for Portugal, on the whole ambiance was fine but sending so much food back to be binned spoils the evening, sorry will not return.   I walked in to the restaurant to notice reserved signs on every table. I spoke to the hostess who said she was full and couldn't fit us in. We asked if we could sit outside and she was more than happy to accommodate us. I had my 19 month old with me. I mentioned that I did not need to eat but he did so she arranged to feed him first, and catch up with us when she could. We were served within minutes for drinks and then about 20 for food. Amazing.
