  I am portuguese, and when i spend time in albufeira its one of the few restaurantes that offers true portuguese food ! Its not overpriced at all. Simple and DELICIOUS! DEFENITLY what i recommen to my friends when they decide to go to Albufeira for holidays..   I circled this restaurant three times before going in, after looking at the neighbouring restaurants I decided in the end to eat here, really pleased with my choice. The food was good. The only gotcha is the bread and olives are given to the table on arrival, also the waiter said the meal came with potatoes and salad as it was traditional Portuguese but they charge separately for this, we had fish for two very enjoyable. Service was reasonable. It was quiet on arrival but soon had a buzz by the time we left. Recommended for sure but just look out for gotcha as a tourist.   I had vegetarian lasagne…worst I had. It was cooked with very cheap ingredients, tasted not good at all. It‘s not worth the price. The other dishes we had were ok, but nothing special. Maybe in the Uk we get inventive with our marinaded chicken so they have a lot to live up to. Nice food but not piri piri by any means. 20 euros so not badly priced.   Pros: Food was warm, food came in quick-ish, portion was okay. No bad flavors. Cons: Paella was just boiled rice, runny, bland, and overpriced. Meat was chewy and favorless, but passable. Veggies were overcooked and soggy. No flavor overall. Olives were not ripe and just too bitter. Brings you bread, olives (The same olives we did not eat) and butter even if you say no to appetizer and then charges you for it. Sangria was terrible, the glass was clean and we know this because it tasted still tasted like soap. Overall: Worst restuarant experience in Portugal after having been here for over a week.   It was decent… but not worth the price. The portions were not that big and the vegetables had been over boiled. The mixed fish platter had great taste from the sea and seemed very fresh. We expected fries with the platter but it was boiled potatoes. Not bad but not great either. Everything (except the fish) required extra seasoning. However, the fish soup of the day was amazing. My boyfriend had the vegetable soup but again, needed more seasoning. The couvert was seriously nothing to talk about… bread and olives were dry and definitely not fresh.   The food was pretty alright. We had the soup for starters which was pretty decent, and the mixed fish platter for main. The vegetables that came with it were over boiled and they were not seasoned at all. The potatoes that came with the fish were also not seasoned at all. I had a mixed fish platter, the worst plater I have ever had. Save yourself some money. I had to constantly repeat myself and order at the counter..   I trusted the positive comments more than the negative ones and gave a try. Absolute worst food i ever had, i could eat only 20% of the pork meat with clams. Most of the clams were not cooked, the pork meat was not fresh... Disgusted. The manager saw my plate almost full and never even bothered to ask what happened...   I went with my family 2 adults and 2 children and had a dinner. It was worst experience in albufeira so far. Service: it was so bad and one of the waiters so rude, not welcoming I almost stand and left the place.. (I understand lack of language could create confusion but being rude is not a language issue) (and not kids friendly) Food: below average and Overpriced for the food amounts. One thing you gotta be careful about is some meals are pre cooked and heated. unfortunately and it's a big no for me, I ordered lamp for my son and it was very chew and precooked and heated on the grill again. Kids meal also unfortunately was frozen half pizza 🍕, it's shameful to serve frozen pizza and even not full one in a restaurant. it was horrible experience honestly, better to look around for other restaurants, as prices more less in all places is the same and you get better food and service.   So this review is hot off the press after dinner tonight. I know it's cliché but 'I don't normally do reviews' however given that we fell for large queues meaning it must be good. Wife had 'Piri Piri chicken' which was dry and genuinely a lot worse than a pack of Piri Piri seasoned chicken we picked up from Aldi. 5/10 First Child had Pizza and Chips from the kids menu. Chips looked terrible and the pizza was clearly of the frozen variety. 4/10 Second child has spaghetti which was fine to be honest. But I assume it was pre-made. 6.5/10 I myself had Paella. It certainly looked the part and it was absolutely stacked with assorted meats. In fact, not sure if I have had a Paella with this much meat. However, it was watery and lacked distinctive Paella flavours. Also the meats tasted watery/frozen. To be honest, given all of our food seemed to turn up after 15 minutes, indicated to me at least the Paella couldn't have been super fresh. If you just wish to grab a meal, go ahead grab a meal.   Mixed feelings. We went there twice. First day we had the sardines and the pork strips (secretos). Well seasoned, fresh and delicious, paying 28€ with sodas. Second day we had the octopus and fish (carapaus), paid 36€. The portions were so much smaller and food was not as tasty; it seemed like a different restaurant! The oldest male waiter was friendly, the female waitress could be nicer. I would recommend going with the daily menus (top of the menu) and avoid the bottom of menu choices. Good prices for the area.   The worse Restaurant in town. The Service woman was highly arrogant. The food was just a garage. The Vessel they served the food had stratches at the bottom and the wine glasses smelled fish. Non Stick Pan had scratches all over - toxic! Couldn't have been any worse! P.S We asked for the change of the wine glasses and she did it without a pinch of apologie. Highly discouraging.   Waited for 45 mins to get a table even though there were several free tables. They have too little staff. Unfortunately the food is disgusting, I had the cheese/meat plate for starters which was not fresh. The frango piri piri was as as dry a.f. the fries were cold and sobby. My friend had some portuguese pork dish which looked aweful and was taste-less. O yeah and they will bring you like welcome bread, olives etc which u then need to pay (common in Portugal i believe).   Amazing restaurant with local food. We visited Alentejano having walked past this week. Always a que outside which means this is a good place to eat. We were taken to our table and offered drinks and a small tapas to start. The prices are very reasonable and the selection was excellent. My wife ordered a starter and an sirloin steak and I orderd the chicken curry. Both arrived in no time, hot and well presented. My wife said it was one of the best steaks she has tasted and my chicken was delicious. We had a jug of white wine which was reasonable. The bill came to under 40€.   Really good food at very reasonable prices, staff are friendly. It can get busy and you may have to wait a little extra time, but it's worth it. When we were here there were quite a few locals dining here, so that was a really good guide for us. Will be back again on our next visit to Albufeira.   Queues round the block for this restaurant, I honestly don't know why our experience was at best average, we have had better food and service for lower prices elsewhere. We waited in the queue to get a table then a long wait to order food then a long wait for the food to arrive and it wasn't great.   Unfortunately a bad experience. We went there for the “typical portuguese” food, but (according to our groups opinion) got the touristic versions, with unfeelingly made dishes. The bachalau was very fishy - why we couldn’t eat without being worried of its freshness. The salmon was fried in a lot of fat instead of grilling. The pizza seemed to be convenience. The waiter spoke our language but didn’t explained the difference between some dish versions we asked for. Prices oriented to the touristic place. If you eat something, even if you didn't ask for, you will be charge for. So to avoid surprise when the bill arrive, be careful!   My family and I dined in this restaurant during a recent holiday. I ordered the paella and it was really tasty. My wife ordered Piri Piri style chicken, again it was very nice. Similarly my kids seem to reaĺly enjoy their food. Regretfully our food sat on the pass for quite a while as did the drinks we ordered. We seemed to get the worst server in the restaurant who seemed to irritate not only us but his colleagues. Fantastix food and I will return I just hope I get a better server.   Food was great...and not expensive...highly recommended Sadly on second visit all went pear sheaped.... we were seated at a smoking table outside which we wanted as we smoke...we were rudely interrupted by a waiter inside and told not to smoke as smoke was blowing inside...not our problem tbh...there was a sliding glass window he could have closed but we were told to move. Then the waiter that was serving gave me abuse for moving tables. I informed him of situation still not impressed he cleared the table we now occupied and preceded to slam and I slam down the table mats on our new table. Only gave us one menu...so here we go...our thoughts...not eating here. Went and asked for manager ..he agreed that we should not have been moved and window should have been closed. He asked me which waiter had caused the issue. Called him over and can you believe the waiter...in front of his manager told me to "get a life". I flipped the lid at this point...and manager just said " I'm just the manager...I dont own it." At that stage I walked out.   We really didn't like that they ripped up off on the couvert. We paid every item twice, i.e for two people, we paid two Manteiga (butter), which corresponded to the usual two small butter portions etc. We had one basket of bread and obviously paid for two Pao. There was one person alone on the next table and got the SAME amount of bread and other couvert components (same amount of olives, sardine paste etc). We paid each component twice - portions you usually get by default at every other Portuguese restaurant, as ONE couvert.   Horrible service! The servers have no manners and don't know the basics of serving food to people. The tables aren't well cleaned and the servers don't care. The food is authentic and pretty good but not for the price they charge the dishes. The portions are small and come with more "sides" (e.g. salad, chips..) than the actual food you ordered and where expecting to eat. I don't recomend this to anyone, specially locals.   We went there the 1st day and the meal was delicious (bacalhau natas & chicken on grill) it wasn't so busy and the service was ok solid 4 stars. Then i went again the day after and it was madness, the owner and staff stressed which affected the service very badly, then we ordered a fish soup which was rancid to the point it took a full day to recover, i gave it back without making a fuss but am afraid the feedback wasn't received we had sirloin portuguese style and it was really bad, the overcook it in the oven making the sauce taste like burn and the meat so tough and dry that i could that the kitchen was a mess. I would've come back if they would apreciate the feedback but i was ignored completely. Aí fui de novo no dia seguinte e foi uma loucura, o dono e o pessoal ressaltaram o que prejudicou muito o atendimento, depois pedimos uma sopa de peixe que estava rançosa a ponto de demorar um dia inteiro para se recuperar, devolvi sem fazer um rebuliço mas receio que o feedback não tenha sido recebido tivemos lombo à portuguesa e estava muito mau, o cozimento excessivo no forno fez com que o molho ficasse com gosto de queimado e a carne tão dura e seca que pude que a cozinha estivesse uma bagunça . Eu teria voltado se eles apreciassem o feedback, mas fui completamente ignorado. Não recomendado
