  We recently dined at this restaurant, and while the ambiance was nice, I felt that the portion sizes were too small for the price point. The choice of ingredients, such as robalo, a relatively inexpensive fish, didn't quite justify the price. For a meal for 2 that included tiny 30 rolls/sashimi, a bottle of wine, and a single dessert, the total of 65 euros felt excessive. I hope there could be adjustments to portion sizes and ingredient choices to better match the pricing. They told us they only had a place in a room where the regular menu isn't available and we would've had to order some sort of experience when there were clearly a lot of free places and also lots of people leaving.   We chose tgis restaurant solely on it ratings. Having the highest rating in town for a sushi restaurant was to us an indication that everything would be perfect. The atmosphere is great, especially with all saltwater aquariums in display. Bit that is were the "great" turns into "just average good" . I get the whole high tech, enviro-friendly approach with digital menus and services but some people still like a paper menu. The food was some good and some great but all in tiny portions at rather expensive prices. Half our order didn't arrive, we had to reorder it. Restaurant gave us a complementary pickle salad for the mess up. This restaurant, although good, it's not deserving of a 4.7 just based on service and food portion/price ratio. Spicy miso soup , sushis and roast beef kimshi sandwich were really good. Lavender bread and tempura veggies were not good.   This was the best sushi we've ever had! The whole experience is amazing, from the appetizers to the sushi boats. We ordered the veggy gyosa, almond shrimp, the Kaishi XL boat and a salmon temaki and we both felt satisfied in the end! The final price was 65,65€. t's really expensive but worth the price for a one time thing when you're travelling!   The reviews we read said it was the best sushi we'll ever eat and it lived up to its reputation. We eat sushi 2 to 3 times a month for years and this truly was the best. We chose the Benshi chef's choice 16 pieces for 2 of us. Salmon carpaccio and Salmon ceviche. Also Cucumber salad and shitake mushrooms. Outstanding! Service was impeccable! And very friendly!   As a frequent customer of Subenshi Porto I was happy to see that the menu in Aveiro is identical and the quality of food is on par with the other location. Expect to pay more than your average sushi place, however the quality is fantastic.   For a quiet town like Aveiro, I would have never expected to find such a gem of a restaurant. Let it be clear - the restaurant is up front about serving fusion sushi. My friend and I ordered Tori Yakisoba as well as their Benshi M combo (16 pieces). The Yakisoba was delicious and flavoured well! If I have a phrase or two to summarize this dining experience - they serve food with intent. Every piece makes sense and doesn't try to over complicate sushi even when it's considered fusion. The highlight of their maki rolls and sashimi is the fish which is amazing! If given the chance, I would definitely visit this restaurant again and explore more of their money.   Nothing to do with Japanese sushi. Great place, extremely efficient staff (pls do get rid of the air phones they look like Burger King employees), but this is no sushi. A very interesting, sweet and sour, colourful rearranged version of sushi. Sashimi delicious which means fish quality is also great. But ain’t sushi. However I would not rate the food any higher than 3* It has a great setting, a whole building with different atmospheres in every room, the decoration is really nice!   Walked in alone at 8pm on a Thursday night. They offered me either a table for the next hour or the bar for as long as I wanted. Menu seemed better for sharing so I took some of the smaller portions. All the sushi was amazing! And the dessert 😋 I asked the server what her favourite was and she pointed me to the sponge cake which was heavenly (and I was later told this was a specialty of Aveiro).   Subenshi is definitely the best option for sushi in Aveiro. It is expensive but thisbis compensated by its high quality food, staff and restaurant.
