  Slightly underwhelmed with the experience as I know its a great spot for food from friends and family. Service was hit and miss. Food was ok but nothing special for the price paid. I may have had a less good day to attend. The restaurant is well known for Espetada. We had some but it was well done rather than medium rare. The fish espada was simple but fresh.   We visited here as it was near to a wine tour we had taken, I had heard about it and thought we would try it out. It feels very traditional in the actual service/food though the building is something to see, certainly different!. The food is what I would call traditional Madeiran, well that's what we thought anyway. Had the tuna and codfish mains, tiramisu dessert together with wine. The food was tasty, hot and served quickly. Whilst the service cannot be faulted it did feel a bit 'rushed', the waiters being very busy and constantly buzzing around did give a slightly less than relaxed atmosphere, don't get me wrong they were good at their job but maybe just relax a bit and smile guys!   In general, the restaurant had good food and the service was top-notch. We felt very well attended. The lapas (traditional appetizer in Madeira) tasted great however the bolo do caco with garlic and butter was hard and too crunchy. They tasted well nonetheless. The meat on skewer was okay too, but not the best one we've eaten. Tiramisu was fresh and delicious. Overall, a restaurant that left a positive taste on our palate that we would hopefully repeat the next time we are here. One semi-covered outside they usually serve lunch & dinner when there are less people & inside they can seat up to 600 people! The food was absolutely 💯!   This place is nice and a must go. Try to go on a Saturday so you can participate wine making process and mash some grapes with your feet. I couldn't do that because I went on a Sunday which is also nice because you see the final process of the wine making, and get to try the grape juice before it is fermented. For dinner, I eat a plant based diet so it is sometimes challenging to find options but I order a bolo do caco without butter, sopa de legumes and some sautéed vegetables.   Very nice restaurant! For the quality of food/experience you receive, they have very reasonable prices. I would highly recommend the espetata (Madeiran specialty). We got the steak with the bone and it had some of the best flavor we have ever tasted, even at good steak restaurants in the USA. We had to come back for round 2. They also had great sangria!   Ordered an octopus which was very chewy and actually it was just 1 1/2 legs because it was cutted in half (rip off). I was told that the octopus was grilled, which wasn't. After complain I got a swordfish which was OK but not amazing. Outside was a chained parrot, with no water and no food (awful). I had to even say that this poor thing need to get something to drink and eat. Wouldn't recommend the place. And I should actually avoid it from the first sign by seeing this poor creature. I was still finishing my dish and the waiters started to clean the table, there was still food on the table and I wanted to keep eating but they took it away. Then I asked for the food and they said I had to order new one. I was disgusted by this kind of service.   Fantastic place! The wait staff were the perfect mix of polite, professional, knowledgeable, and speedy. The food we ordered tasted great, and was out to us quickly, despite the place being packed. Same with the drinks; if you're not driving definitely treat yourself to the sangria! The traditional show was a great bit of live entertainment, and came out at the right time. If you have children under three, like we do, make sure they've had a nap during the day, and they'll surely get into it, and maybe even join in. We asked for the bill, and that came out quickly, too. We were a big party, so had to split it between card, and cash payment, which wasn't a problem for the staff.   This place is very recommended for the traditional "espetada". The good quality is great and the service is top notch and very friendly, not only interested in selling the most expensive items. The outside area is also nice with a small vineyard. If you're lucky and in season (late summer) you can see grapes and they actually do wine on Friday night / weekends. They don't serve the traditional "Espetadas com Pau de Louro" due to regulations, but still, there's not a single dish from what we experienced that wasn't a 5* dish. A must try!
