  Starters were bruschetta and prawns which were nice. The carpaccio was not good quality. Pizza was just okay. 2 Pasta dishes were with beef and prawns. Do not get a pasta with beef. The beef was not good quality, tough and over cooked and the pasta dish was tasteless.   You would think that an Italian restaurant would know how to cook pasta. Sadly, they don't. Restaurant is highly rated but food is less than mediocre. Very disappointed.   Initially we struggled to get a place, but after making friends with the waiter we got a great location in this surprisingly large restaurant.   The restaurant has a lovely setting and we were seated promptly. (It is the middle of off season). After dropping off menus it took forever for our waitress to return for drink orders. This type of slow service continued as our waitress was constantly in conversation with other waiters. (We absolutely enjoy the relaxed pace of service in most Portugal restaurants, but this was inattentive service.) The pasta dishes arrived, both shrimp and pasta dishes, they were both absolutely bland. Quality ingredients, yes, bland, yes; and one was a peri spiced dish. I had to get up from my chair to seek out a waiter to get some fresh parm wanting to do anything to improve the flavors. Perhaps it was an off night but we won’t be returning.   Had a great time here. Amazing food and lovely restaurant. Only minor issue was we didn’t feel immediately welcome with our child and pushchair. When looking to seat us, a younger waiter was looking around shaking his head as if we couldn’t get seated only for a slightly older waiter to then fix it straight away. Walking through the restaurant, there were a number of empty tables that didn’t have reserved signs, but I couldn’t tell if they were just missing. We ended up being put on a table at the far end of the restaurant that was originally reserved for someone else. I’m sure it wasn’t intentional, but it did leave us feeling a bit under pressure to not ruin the atmosphere throughout the meal, so wasn’t completely relaxing.   Beautiful restaurant with movie stars portrait on the wall , and a few pieces of vintage collection such as a typewriter and etc , the owner has a fabulous taste of creating a nostalgic good old days vibe and this is definitely a plus point to visit. The staff are friendly and helpful. We came here for Italian food as recommended by two friends visited here before, probably there are so much good food in the area, the food is definitely up to certain standard but not super impressed, Still good food. Octopus salad was sliced into very thin pieces and pressed into the plate, don’t know what is the rationale to do that, it actually made the octopus lost a bit of its meaty texture because of this handling. Pizza is the best out of all, they served the rectangle shape pizza which you don’t see it often in other places, the dough is well prepared with fresh ingredients. Pasta is very creamy, with the amount of the food, you will feel a bit over. Steak is up to standard with interest side such as they bake meat in the mushroom.   A very unassuming restaurant from the outside that didn't look particularly special, but the food and wine here were completely amazing!!! 🍷🍝 The inside is like a tardis - we had assumed it was a small place but it was huge and very busy on a Sunday evening. We hadn't reserved not realising how popular a place it is but fortunately got a table. When you walk through there's an open kitchen (always a good sign) cooking everything fresh. The house white wine was the best house white I've had. They serve fresh homemade pasta and you can tell. I loved the pasta arrabiata which was also quite spicy, as it should be! 🌶️ It came piping hot too. Good service.   Not been in this building in years...and very smart it is. We opted for a couple of pizzas one seafood with clams, prawns and Calamari, and one Diavalo both beautifully made and gave off tremendous aromas. Very tasty indeed, I followed with Tiramisu which was light and boozy, a very nice end to the meal. You cannot beat good straightforward well made Italian food in very smart surroundings and this did the job. Service was quick, friendly and efficient and at a very affordable price. We sat outside at the front and this was a calm and nicely lit a haven away from a musician warbling out yesterday's mis worded hits in the square by the beach. Perfect for a quiet quality meal.   For all the hype, and people raving about this place, apart from the classy decor and comfortable seating I really don’t get the attraction of this restaurant. At a recent meal with friends it was a case of “we haven’t got this and we haven’t got that which included Lasagne, Bolognese, draught beer and any fresh fish. We were served very ordinary food at a price you’d expect to pay at a much more esteemed restaurant. The €12 prawn starter in Piri Piri oil was incredibly tasteless and the sauce thin and watery. At €23 for fillet steak medallions in mushroom sauce you get an extremely thin piece of steak, two small potatoes and a few bits of veg. The pasta dish we had - Linguine Toscana - was tasty but again minimal meat was added and at €15 it wasn’t value for money. The service was fast at first - a bit too fast as the starters appeared only a couple of minutes after ordering - but then it seemed the servers lost interest in us and we waited 30 minutes to be asked if we wanted a dessert even though the menu had been put on the table. In summary, Carvoeiro is full of really good, and sometimes great restaurants, that don’t always get the credit they deserve, but sadly this isn’t one of them! Numa refeição recente com amigos foi o caso de “não temos isto e não temos aquilo que incluía lasanha, bolonhesa, chope e qualquer peixe fresco. Serviram-nos comida muito comum a um preço que você esperaria pagar em um restaurante muito mais conceituado. A entrada de camarão de € 12 em óleo de Piri Piri era incrivelmente sem gosto e o molho era ralo e aguado. Por 23 euros os medalhões de filé com molho de cogumelos você ganha um pedaço de bife extremamente fino, duas batatas pequenas e alguns pedaços de vegetais. O prato de massa que comemos - Linguine Toscana - era saboroso, mas novamente foi adicionada uma quantidade mínima de carne e por 15 € não tinha uma boa relação qualidade / preço. O serviço foi rápido no início - um pouco rápido demais, pois as entradas apareceram apenas alguns minutos após o pedido - mas depois pareceu que os garçons perderam o interesse em nós e esperamos 30 minutos para ser perguntados se queríamos uma sobremesa, embora o menu havia sido colocado na mesa. Em resumo, o Carvoeiro está repleto de restaurantes muito bons, e por vezes excelentes, que nem sempre recebem o crédito que merecem, mas infelizmente este não é um deles!

  Place was v.nice, service was good. My mum loved her dish here but my vegetarian pasta dish was really quite awful; it wasn’t that it tasted bad, rather it didn’t taste of anything. Boiled vegetables on top of boiled pasta with big garlic chunks. Never tasted such dish at an Italian restaurant and the Portuguese are known for boiling their veg. It was almost student style, (sorry!). That dish really let them down. 3 stars as my mum liked hers. Wine is super expensive though when considering you are in Portugal. Glass of house wine 5 euros.   10 out of 10 for this gem of a restaurant in Carvoeiro. The staff are wonderful, charming and competent in several languages. The service is speedy and the restaurant is open all day, all year round making it a very reliable option. Most importantly the food is excellent, we went as a family of four, ordered 4 different starters and four different mains and we all agreed that every dish was great.   Awful service, as if you don't book you then get to watch the waiting staff argue over which table they are going to sit you on. Yes I can speak Portuguese so I knew what you were saying. God forbid you ask for butter as apparently the management have banned anyone from having butter. The food was ok, but I have had much better more authentic Italian in many other locations around the world. All in all its all fluff and no substance.   We entered the restaurant after what was a high recommendation of our host in Algarve. The ambiance and accouterments are superb (interior, flooring, tables and chairs, bathrooms), the service was horrid. This is probably an issue with the one cantankerous waiter we were forced to endure. The food was marginal (Salmon pasta) and lacked the aroma of herbs and the taste of any seasoning. The pizza is graded C-, and is plainly generic (Margherita). We had two small children (ages 4 and 2) and it appeared the waiter misunderstood their mouth and hand sizes as he didn’t offer smaller silverware. Nor did he ever check on us during the meal. Apologies for being long winded but I would recommend Piccolino in Armação De Pêra before this overhyped establishment.   Villa Medici is a lovely Italian restaurant in Carvoeiro that has a great atmosphere and helpful, enthusiastic wait staff. Eating as a family of 5 we were seated just through the entrance of the restaurant, which was slightly unfortunate as most of the traffic through the restaurant had to pass us, making it a busy location. We didn't feel rushed, our waiter made time to talk us through the menu and addressed our questions, even though a queue formed as more customers were waiting to be seated. Unfortunately the only thing letting this restaurant down was our mixed reviews on the food, which for the most part was lacking flavour, particularly the garlic which made up the majority of our dishes. The only exception was the carbonara, and the Luna (ham and mushroom) pizza - which were both great dishes.   It was our anniversary and my wife and I started at Primavera next door. We left after receiving slow service and a bad attitude with that service. Could we not have landed in a more opposite place. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was great. We were promptly seated and served. The pasta we got was the The Chefs pasta special with Veal..... incredible! The caprese was unbelievable as well! Got there, enjoy the ambiance and experience. They blow next door out of the water.   Our favourite restaurant in the whole of Carveiro. Food is beautiful, service is excellent and it's a lovely setting too, particularly in the courtyard at the rear.
