  What a sweet surprise. We had been in Portugal for 2 months and the Wolf was just up the street from where we were staying. We decided to try it 2 days before going home and wish we had found it earlier. Everything about it was outstanding. I had the lamb shank and it was delicious. We also have tried the garlic and piri puri prawns all over the Algarve and there's are indeed the best. The restaurant is a must try for sure. You won't be disappointed.   We had a lovely family dinner here. The steak was, for once, slightly under done in parts I think (asked for medium), but very tasty. Good ambiance, good service, and a complimentary glass of Port at the end was a nice touch. It's a fancier restaurant than some of the more casual ones in town, so prices are a bit higher.   This restaurant looks from the outside like a really nice place to eat, The sad fact is the food was slacking the atmosphere was bland, a waitor said I was nervous cause I couldn't decide between the steak and the wolf burger. In the end I got the steak and i asked for medium rare and got well done, it was the thinnest steak I had ever had and my girlfriend had risotto that wasn't very flavoursome.   Decent steaks, but for the price I'd hoped for better. Chateaubriand had good flavour but took a bit too much chewing. Filet Mignon similar. The bearnaise sauce bore little resemblance to how it should be, and I think it had cheese in it! Maybe this was a Portuguese version.   The black pudding starter was excellent. I had the Tiger Prawn for main course and it was really nice. If there was a fault it was the lack of a sauce. It came with Potatoes and salad and while it tasted really good it was a little dry. The White House wine from Douro was very nice, dry and easy to drink. Don't get me wrong, the steak was nice, but to have to pay an extra €4 for chips or potatoes to go with the steak? 🤦🏼‍♀️& then extra again for some kind of veg? & extra again to add a sauce. And it said all steaks are served with bacon and leeks... We asked for it to be left off as we don't eat pork... Plate turned up with the steak on it... And bacon & leeks.   I must say i have a problem finding a good burger in the Algarve. Chose the place because they have burger joint upstairs. So first the burger design...it's flat taste because it does not have any ingredients to break the taste with some acid, no pickles. There is no sauce on the bun, also doesn't come with any condiments. The meat was good quality meat, well seasoned but grossly overdone... Which made the single sided taste even more pronounced. And it is coming from a person that likes done meat. As for drinks cocktails are mixed with what we call nectars in Europe means (it's fan have less than 50 pct of juice rest sugar and coloursa) and you can clearly taste it.   Husband and I were craving burgers but were very disappointed with our meal. The server did not ask us how we wanted our burgers done, and I only realised it when the burgers had been served already. The meat was so over done, it was beyond well done. When we mentioned it after the meal, the server said that if the customer didn’t specify, then it would be served medium well. We told him it was nowhere near a medium well, it was beyond well done. Also, if the server relayed our order to the kitchen without specifying the doneness, shouldn’t the kitchen staff tell the server to go back and ask us? Considering this is a steak place and not a fast food joint, I expected them to pay more attention to the doneness of the meat, given it’s €17.5 for one burger. The mango daiquiri was also extremely sweet and artificial tasting. But I give 5 stars for my SuperBock beer.   The service was nice. Only the food was really dissapointing... We ordered a burger for 15 euro's. So we expected a big burger with a variety of toppings. Unfortunatly that was not the case. The burger was really tiny, it wasn't worth the price. Then we had a pasta with parmesan chicken, 16 euros. It was a tiny plate with very bland (tomato?) Pasta and a big chickennugget on top.   After being accommodated with a lovely table outside despite not having a reservation and the place being practically booked out, we were introduced to our waiter, Pedro. He was the best we had during our entire Portugal holiday (even sprinting up the street after us when I forgot my credit card). He also organised a couple of complimentary glasses of Medronho for us after our meal, purely out of national pride. Our chateaubriand was slightly overcooked and a bit tough, so I can't give the full 5 stars, but really everything else, from the sides, the amazingly good value Lua Cheia house red 🍷, the scrumptious desserts, right down to the special Algarve coffee, was top notch. If it wasn't our list night in Portugal, we'd head back in a heartbeat.   We just rocked up to this place as the reviews were good,and we had been sitting across the road having a drink. When we arrived we were asked did we have a reservation which we didn't. The guy proceeded to shake his head for the next few mins and then said we could eat there but it would b a short stay, we were given 1hr and 15mins which was fine. Our seats were very comfy and we got seated at the window. We both got steaks which wer cooked as requested our sides were nice also but nothing fantastic.   We walked past this place the first couple of nights as it resembles a few ‘chain’ restaurants we have back home that are a bit rubbish. Second last night I had a craving for steak so convinced the better half to give it a try and man were we happy we did! What a difference all the staff are new, the guys who used to make this restaurant good have gone, the steaks were mediocre at best, the prices Increased a lot (is this because it’s tourist season) we live here and keep restaurants like this open in off season! Even the booking system is rubbish, sent them an email 2 1/2 days before we wanted to go but got a sms from them 15 minutes before we were due, we should have gone to the Gurkha, where the meals are always fantastic. The service was ok, but not great. Will we be going again, I don’t think so!!!   We dinned here 3 times, over all very good apart from they forgot the sauces for the steaks. By the time they arrived the steaks were cold. They manager was called and looked disinterested until I told him I wouldn't be paying for the starters and wine if the steaks were not replaced. He reluctantly agreed and when the meals were replaced we were happy. When your paying 30 euro for steak and chips it's got to be right.   This resturant is a must when visiting the algarve for anyone who enjoys fillet steak. it is as good as you will get anywhere. When the waiter told me it was irish fillet I could see why.
