The chicken Korma we ordered was like slightly spiced condensed milk with just 3 pieces of chicken which barely filled half of the container it came in. My wife’s chicken biryani came without any side sauce which is a first for her, and overall, the food was average and not good value at all.

(Original) Wir kommen jedes Jahr nach Carvoeiro und Haweli ist das einzige Restaurant, auf das wir uns immer verlassen können. Wir hatten noch nie ein mäßiges oder schlechtes Essen, es ist immer super lecker. Die Kellner sind immer so freundlich und machen auch mal Späßchen mit den Kindern. Als Vorspeise unbedingt Nan Brote (mit Kokos!) nehmen und Papadams - die werden mit leckeren Soßen serviert. Auch wenn wir in Portugal sind, ist das indische Restaurant die einzige Adresse, zu der wir wirklich jedes Jahr mehrfach gehen und wir haben das Restaurant schon lieb gewonnen - nirgendwo werden wir so freundlich bedient wie hier. We were the first 4 people at the restaurant and only a total of 9 diners inc us by time we left. Service was incredibly slow, almost 30 minutes to get poppadoms which should be served within minutes. No starters ordered and a 50 minute time from when we ordered our main course until brought to table. The plates were cold and we requested warm ones as they came out 5/7 minutes before the food arrived. When it did come out , it was not together so we waited for our friends before eating. The food was actually very good , I had a lamb rogan josh and it was very tasty but a bit chewy. The naan bread was also tasty but slightly soggy. So it didn't feel quite as fresh as it should having taken so long. Overall, good tasty food, but slow and not what you expect from an empty restaurant. They need to speed up the service because they'll struggle if they get a crowd.

(Original) Update The Halweli is under new management, I must say last night we took my sister's there and what a disappointment it was, the new manager with trainee in toe took our orders and totally messed it up, they bought plain rice instead of a plan naan, the food was not that of the restaurant that we love. There was only one of the original staff members who as usual was very helpful and very apologetic when I complained that the food was really salty and the chicken tough, not to mention that that got three out of four orders wrong. I hope this is only a glitch as it has been my go to Indian restaurant for a while. I only hope that the new people can make it better than it was last night.. My favourite is the chicken tikka Balti with extra corriander with pilau rice and peshwari naan, it is truly the moment wonderful of meals. The staff are welcoming, friendly and very efficient. We have been going back regularly and have never had a bad meal, next time we go will take pictures because I’m always in too much of a hurry to dig in. Bonus is that the one prices are very reasonably. Enjoy we do!!
