  Went here for a late lunch, not to many people and nice to get out of the sun. The service was great, got good guidance to select a local wine and the food came at an appropriate pace.   We were excited to try O Pescador as we had heard wonderful things about the fish. Our friends were right...about the fish. It was very fresh and well prepared, but that was it. Sadly, the only vegetables we could find on the menu were potatoes. I came wanting a good piece of fish and healthy, creative vegetables on the side. This is not on the menu. The food was extremely overpriced. It is a very touristy area and the owners seem to take advantage of that. While the service was very, very good, the number of smokers on the patio ruined our dinner. I live in Cascais, but probably won't return to O Pescador.   Best meal we had in Cascais over the 4 days there and it was only lunch. Had the huge seafood plate recommended by the waiter (€89) as we said we were starving - that between two of us with some bread. Incredible lobster, prawn, squid, mussels; everything was cooked to perfection. One thing I noticed was all the waiting staff were older (40+) and this just gave an impression of quality you can only achieve over time - they knew their stuff and it showed from start to finish. We never asked for fish and chips. The rise was horrible too. Then this waiter was so rude to blame us for his mistake and argued with us instead of apologize. We ate a few bites, paid our bill and got out of there frustrated and humiliated. At least make sure your customers are happy. We will never recommend anyone to eat here.   I came in for a lunch on a a Saturday afternoon. Friendly staff who all spoke sufficient English. A waiter who actualy asked if I would like a couvert (bread, spreads and pate) instead of just putting it on the table and the bill. I ordered a fish soup and a plate of shrimps and calamari with potatoes. A beer and voluntary tip included led to a bill of €40, a price that was excellent, considering the high quality of food and service.   From a distance this restaurant might seem like a tourist trap, but nothing is further from the truth! The vibe here might not be hip, but it should not stop you. This restaurant has a true passion for fresh fish, they were happy to show us all the fresh fish options available. Our starter, a carpaccio of tuna and swordfish, was excellent. The main course consisted of grilled shellfish, a huge lobster and prawns. Please ask for olive oil, and pepper and salt grinder to season these delicacies to taste.   We passed up many restaurants offer fish. We happened upon this gem of a place when we traveled to Cascais from Lisbon. It was so nice to have a feed of seafood that delivered so large an order of fish. The seafood was very fresh and the breeze brought the smell of the Atlantic Ocean to our table making it a real seafood experience.   We had a superb dinner as a large group this evening. Clams and oysters to start were both excellent. Four friends shared a whole sole fish (priced by weight but price was good and made v clear before settling on it). Grilled perfectly. Octopus was delicious also, well cooked and very tender. Price was approx 45€ pp with starters, mains, desserts, two excellent bottles of wine and quite a few beers. Great staff who were friendly and didn’t mind making space as soon as an extra friend joined. Definitely good value for money and will definitely return.   Once a great restaurant, now disappointingly tourist oriented. The booking we made through Fork wasn't even noticed. We were ok to wait and took it as just a minor mishap. The quality of food was ok, but again not as it is used to be, however the prices were adapted to the new tourist reality immediately.   Spent two fantastic nights at this restaurant during our stay in Cascais. On the second night we had the pleasure of eating one of their house specials, being the lobster paella, which was one of our favourite meals we may have ever eaten! The staff were more than accommodating and one of the male staff spoke irish to us after finding out we were from Ireland which was more than amazing and also very interesting to see and hear!   We visited the restaurant because of the good ratings, but got disappointed strongly. After we set down it took long until we could order whereby the service was unfriendly and unmotivated. The swordfish arrived cold, and the piece was definitely not good (disgusting taste and smell) anymore, wherefore we wanted to give it back. Unfortunately, the stuff reacted highly unprofessional, telling me that this cannot happened and that it is fine. Luckily I was able to give it back and the free replacement dish (pasta) I obtained was actually nice.   We ordered a couple different items on the menu: steak, seafood platter, clams, and some appetizers. Most of the food was quite good, with the big exception of the shrimp in the seafood platter. We’re generally pretty understanding with restaurants, but the shrimp was atrociously rotten—it smelled/tasted extremely strongly of ammonia. Pretty unacceptable for a seafood restaurant. Bumping this up to two stars because staff did replace the shrimp with less bad (but still off) shrimp and because the other food was fine. We have already been to some amazing Portuguese seafood and marisco restaurants at average pricing of €8-13 per entree. Naturally when you buy this restaurant’s house special platter at €75 per plate, you expect amazing and fresh. I would give both the paella and the grilled marisco platter a pass. Grilled platter was over priced for the number of things we got in the platter. Paella was a huge miss. Over salty, slathered in too much butter. What a waste that the tiger shrimp and smallish lobster on it was over cooked and so salty on top of the rice. For a €200 Meal - for 3 adults and 2 kids below 10, we would have our money’s Worth elsewhere. Only saving grace is food service.   O Pescador is Portuguese traditional restaurant. It has cosy interior with a lot of pictures and items related to see and fishing on it's walls. This is a good place to try a local dishes. Fish is fresh, you can see what you will eat in a fridge near the entry. Service is nice and pleasant. We tried Portuguese style Sword fish and Octopus which were very good.   Went to this restaurant for dinner with my boyfriend last night. Service was attentive and polite, but food really average. I ordered a seafood paella and with lobster and prawn. The seafood was very dry and super salty, particularly the lobster! The rice was dry and also overwhelmed with salt. I used to think it's very hard to go wrong with seafood as long as they are fresh, but this restaurant absolutely refreshed my knowledge. We paid 85 euros for something dry and salty, would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, at least stay away from their paella...
