  Friendly small restaurant with great food! We had the cod pie (as other reviewers call it) after checking out google reviews and it lived up to the reviews for sure. I included a cleaned up plate for emphasis on how great it was, the fresh orange juice was well worth the 4,5 euros.   We visited in late September, found this place hidden away in a small alley and we were not disappointed. They serve amazing food and you can taste the TLC, authentic and passionate grandma cooking through the food. This cod pie was the BEST dish we had during our entire trip.   Restaurant A Nova Estela was an excellent choice! We arrived just after the break time and were fortunate to find a table. It was almost fully booked within 10 minutes. The restaurant has a charming interior with various clocks adorning one side of the wall, each showing the time in different parts of the world. It was a unique and captivating touch. They even offer to take instant photos with a camera when your food arrives, which added to the memorable experience. Both the owner and the server were incredibly kind and welcoming. When we requested the bill, they presented it in a cute lemon-shaped container and also offered us an incredibly sweet cherry liqueur as a parting gift. Speaking of the food, it was absolutely delicious! The menu offered a great variety, and the freshness of the ingredients really stood out. We ordered a home-made style authentic Portuguese fish (Sea Bream) and a Bacalhou com Broa with a small white wine. The dishes, especially those paired with the white wine, were fantastic. Overall, A Nova Estela is a restaurant filled with great food, friendly service, and a beautiful atmosphere. I look forward to my next visit and will definitely recommend it to more friends!   Eat like Local at A Nova Estrela, I think I got recommendation from Tripadvisor and I didn’t regret coming here. The soup starter is very big. However, the fruit chhesecake dessert was an absolute killer, never had a better/ fresher dessert in this part of Europe. Portions were good as well.   Honestly not sure how it got to 4.7 with that many reviews, we had some roasted cod, the cod was the cheap kind, the whole plate lacking color( cod and potatoes), just plain white.   Straightforward Portuguese food done well and with care. My roast cod was simple and all the better for it. Packed a real garlic punch, and the parsley went perfectly with the fish. The kids were very happy with their pork steaks, and they got free mini cornettos at the end of the meal. Good, economical vino branco. A side street gem, we had lunch here before heading to the airport, and it put a big smile on our face for the journey home, with a great vibe of Portugal.   Favourite place to dine in Cascais! Food is so delicious, from the cuttlefish to the octopus, and the gooey chocolate cake with strawberries. The service is out of this world!   We found this cosy authentic seafood restaurant on the backstreets of Cascais and had such a wonderful experience! The restaurant is quirkily decorated, with excellent food which felt upmarket at a really reasonable price.   The food was ok, but we had to wait for 30 minutes to be served. The restaurant was too hot and the cooling system was really bad. The worst part was the rude behaviour of the staff, especially the middle-aged woman who seemed to be the manager/owner of the restaurant. When I put my plate on the table to share the food with my sister (the plate was cold and would not damage the table), she was standing next to us and she suddenly pulled the plate out of my hand and put it on another plate without even asking me or getting my permission! One of the waitresses also grabbed the plate of the French fries from my sister's hand, without even asking for her permission, perhaps assuming that we were done eating! I have traveled a lot across Asia and Europe and this was the very first time I saw such rude and mannerless staff at a restaurant.   It’s a small and cozy restaurant. Great food. My husband had fresh fish and he loved it. I had the “bacalhau na broa” recommended by the owner and she was right, it was delicious.   This place is truly fantastic and a must for anyone in Cascais! My mom and I went for an early dinner as she was quite jet lagged and the staff were happy to seat us.   The back streets of Cascais are loaded with cozy authentic fresh seafood restaurants. We ended up in A Nova Estrella upon my daughters request. What an excellent find. A small restaurant with limited seating. We had to wait for about 20 minutes to get a table. The proud owner, Rosa took care of us personally with a smile and warm service. The food portions were larger than usual and pricing was very moderate. The grilled garlic Octopus with roasted potatoes was amazing. Fresh, succulent and delicately grilled. The Cod was equally fresh and succulent. Rosa offered us Almond liquor and Port on the house as we were too full to try the tempting desserts. Would love to try the other seafood items when we come back to Cascais. A must try!!!   The dishes were big and tasty, all fresh food and good prices. We didn't try the desserts but they looked handmade and delicious. They also had a big variety of wines. Everyone was so kind and happy and made us feel so welcome. Just so sweet and I left my water bottle and when I came back to get it, they filled it up for me.   Really cute little place. We tried to go one night but they were too full so they made us a reservation for the following night. We got the bacalhau com broa (cod au gratin) and the barbecued cod with potatoes. Both were delicious. The gratin was amazing but very rich so I was grateful for the salad we ordered on the side as well. They also had quite a selection of delicious desserts. It seemed like a family run business, everyone we interacted with was extremely friendly. They even bring you port and liqueur to try with your bill.   Incredible place! A must go in Cascais. We had delicious seafood (grilled octopus, garlic shrimps and Bacalhau fish) with some white wine. You must get the tuna pate and the delicious Mediterranean olives too! The prices were reasonable for the experience, we paid ~18 euros each. We definitely recommend A Nova Estrela!   A small, family-run place just off the main tourist area. We ate outside and had excellent fish and prawns. The desserts were home-made and excellent, the prices fair. Pleasant, attentive service.   A Nova Estrela is a beautiful family run restaurant in the heart of Casáis. The staff are super friends and where happy to explain each dish and make recommendations. All the food was delicious and fresh and fairly priced. We had some great Portuguese wine and was offered complimentary Port at the end of our meal. This place is a must if your in cascáis!   Tough call to rate the place. Many things were unique and athmosphere was excellent from the lady who managed the restaurant and to others who helped her. Apetizers were spot on (cheese and sausages) while the mains we had (e.g. Fish of the day) were ok at most. The desserts on the other hand brought the feeling up again. Wine was really nice as well. Why 3-stars: due to 2 facts: main courses were not that great and they didn't accept card payment. How in 2022 there can be a place without the possibility?   Had the best dinner here during our trip to Portugal. We had the Shrimp Curry and Fish n Chips. The service was warm and friendly and the atmosphere very charming. We received complimentary shots of Porto and almond liqueur as well as some mint chocolate. Our server even gifted us a polaroid of us at our table! Lovely night out, highly recommend. Thank you!   Best service in all of Portugal! After being treated rudely by a couple restaurants, we came here after seeing all the good reviews. The servers were so kind and welcoming. They were so helpful and the food was amazing. We had the fish and chips and the fried cuttlefish and loved them. They were crispy and delicious. We also had the berry topped cheesecake that was delightful. The servers take a polaroid picture of you and give you the picture to keep at the end of the meal!   I understand why this restaurant is highly rated! We had a wonderful experience. You will definitely see/meet the woman owner. She cares deeply about the food and your experience. We started with a Covert with her home-made tuna spread. I’m not a huge tuna fan, but it was outstanding. My husband ordered the Octopus and thought it was very good. I order a green salad - it was huge and with a creamy-type dressing (unusual for Portugal). I probably could have just had that and been very happy,but I also ordered the Garlic Shrimp. 6 large shrimp and French fries in an amazing garlic sauce. I think there might have also had Paprika. After the meal, they brought a bottle of very good Porto, a bottle of Almond liquor and 2 shot glasses and said we could help ourselves to as much as we wanted free of charge. Then a small chocolate!   After a long walk up the coast we came back to Cascais for some grub and ended up at this quirky place which seemed a little off the beaten track. The food was delicious and large portions - we had a rich bacalhau (salted cod) gratin and also seabass grilled with vegetables. The waiter was quite funny in a deadpan kind of way and asked to take our photo. Then when we asked for the bill he presented it with the photo and gave us a free tipple of port. What a nice touch!   Great spot! We walked in at about 7p and they initially said they were all reserved, but were able to make a spot for us outside. Very friendly staff. We had the fish sticks for the kid, curry shrimp for the husband and I had the Dorado fish special. All delicious!   This restaurant is a hidden little gem for which my vocabulary is insufficient to express gratitude for discovering. The host was warm and welcoming from the moment we stepped in. Grilled fish of the day was delicious! Very fresh and preserving the delicate flavor. We tried tuna paste for starters, with bread which exuded home-made flavours. Sangria was amazing in itself. And the place atmosphere was very warm and welcoming, with lots of delicate and carefully chosen, yet homely decorations on the walls. A very enjoyable and palatable visit.   We passed by this little family run restaurant during the day and made a reservation for the evening. It was a great decision. I would always recommend that place in Cascais. It’s a bit away from the main tourist area, but still in old town. The food was delicious.   We had a hard time finding a nice Portuguese restaurant in Cascais, especially inbetween all the international cuisines and sushi places. So happy that we found this one! The octopus was fresh and delicious! Very good quality and prices, and super friendly staff. The Polaroid picture we got as a memory was a nice touch, and so was the digestive for desert.   Octopus and fried codfish were awesome! The owner is very kind and we had a great lunch. They also shot a polaroid of us and give us free Porto shot.   I went to this place because of rating and I think it might be wrong. This is a 5 star place specially in the service part. Food is great and reasonably priced and you have the choice to eat inside or outside (which is pretty quiet). I highly recommend the place.   A really good experience tonight. As soon as we arrived and they noticed we had a little toddler and a baby with us they brought a set of crayons and two toys so they could be entertained. The food was really good, the house wine in the relation of price and quality is a good choice. In the end they brought us some liquors to, has they said, wish us a happy stay.   Very homey, family-operated restaurant. However, the food is very hit and miss. "Tuna paté" was basically an American tuna salad, which makes it laughable to charge €3 for it, and unforgivable in a country where you can buy a delicious can of fish paté at the supermarket for €0.30. Fish of the day was well-grilled but painfully over-salted. Like someone dropped the entire salt shaker on the fish while grilling and hoped no one would notice. Octopus lagareiro, on the other hand, was very nice, served with smashed mini potatoes on a butter sauce. Overall, come if you want to support a small local family restaurant or want an affordable meal in Cascais, but know that you are rolling the dice on quality and taste.   Do you dislike fish ? Go there and you are gonna to want some often. Do not go there to have nice plates and fabric tablecloth but order a sea bass or a dorado with some vetetables and enjoy really your meal. I recommand 100%.   Chanced upon this family restaurant near the central of cascais and it was so good. Fish was fresh, sangria was good. Really liked the homely feel and friendliness of the staff/owner. Would recommend the cod au gratinad especially for tourists as it was my time trying it and I'm glad I did. We even got complimentary port and almond liquer to end the wonderful meal.
