  Been there on a rainy day, and the inside was so cozy! The food was super tasty and creative. The only con for me was the fact that the waiter was too invasive, was coming back every now and then to give us advice...( I mean, dont get me wrong, it was nice once or twice during the service but not during all the meal).   This place wasn’t bad for the price. They had a wide selection of seafood items. Seemed like it was somewhat a fusion experience. I ordered the squid which had squid + clams with a side of rice. Wasn’t bad for the price. Our waitress was super friendly but the man who sat us seemed flustered. At first everyone was pretty attentive but after we sat a larger crowd flooded in so it was harder to get someone’s attention. Like my partner ordered a side of rice but ended up with fries. He ate it anyways and it was still tasty. The place was beautifully designed. Had extra seating upstairs and outside. Their bathroom is located down stairs.   Delightful find while looking for lunch in Cascais. Their Iberian pork dish was sooo savory and tasted so good. The shoestring fries in the cod a la bras was also delicious, though they were thinner than I would have liked them to be.   Tried 5 things on the menu and by far the most memorable flavours in Lisbon!! Every bite I took, I wanted to cry because of how good it was! The best thing I’ve eaten in Lisbon was their Veal pica pau. I love to eat, and I’ve eaten all over Lisbon for 10 days. I’ve travelled all over the world to eat in different countries. I’ve been to 5 star Michelin restaurants in Paris, Spain and London….not one of them blew my mind like their veal dish. The food here is sooooooo special! their flavour combos are so creative and insanely good. Price is also good for the quality. Service is great! Cocktails are also so good and well balanced. Their chocolate walnut dessert was also very good. I’ve been dreaming about the veal for 3 days. Literally going to take the train tomorrow for 45 mins just to get their veal.   Although we went at lunchtime and it was rather busy, we were promptly asked if we wouldn't mind eating at the bar. We agreed and were seated immediately. We didn't feel watched by the staff behind the counter at any point (if that's something you're weary of). The food was delicious and you could tell all the ingredients were fresh.   I’m still thinking about my food at this place. We were so lucky to get a table upstairs by the window with an incredible view. Our waiter was lovely and made our experience that much better. He recommend the tuna sandwich which was delicious and we also had a salad and a fish dish. The dessert was unreal.   We ate downstairs in the bar area where the owner took orders and spoke to the customers. Bar staff was super friendly. Food is smaller sharing plates. A good menu with well prepared food. A bit bigger than tapas portions but you can easily order 4 dishes to share for two people. Kid friendly too.   I have no idea why this place doesn’t have 5 stars. 4,6 does not do it justice as it’s seriously amazing. I’m so sad that I discovered it too late on my trip because I want to try the whole menu. UPDATE: I thought we were done but we ordered more. So far we have had the salmon tataki, the duck, the Iberico Secretos and the Iberico with clams and the Sour Date cocktail and the Esoteric Bananas for dessert. It’s too much food for two people but we’re happy we did it. Truly, a really memorable food experience. The kind that when you are eating, you know you’ll remember it.   I am genuinely sad because this was one of the best meals of my entire life but I was only visiting Cascais for the afternoon so I’ll probably never eat it again 😭 the garlic prawns were divine, the fillet steak sandwich so tender and soft it was like biting through fish - my hot tip is to dip your steak sandwich into the sauce leftover from the garlic prawns, you will not be disappointed.   This first thing I need to mention is the fantastic atmosphere and setting of this place, as well as the stellar service. For example, when we weren't sure what to order for dessert, our waiter let us try the dessert before ordering. The food was very good overall with just the fried cod pancake topper with egg being a little too salty for my liking and too chewy. I recommend the tuna steak sandwich and salmon tataki as these were both fresh and packed with rewarding flavour. I don't think you can go wrong with the amazing desserts on offer. Try your best to get a seat upstairs with a view out of the window as this kept us there for hours.   Passed this restaurant so many times but never ventured inside until this evening. Fantastic service and atmosphere. Great people watching spot and views over the sea at Cascais. Most importantly the food is excellent and the staff could not be more helpful. We had cocktails while we waited for a table (Tipsy Monkey and Speachless). We had 3 sharing plates.   One of the best restaurants i’ve been during my week in Portugal! View is incredible, food is delicious, servers are so personable and friendly, and atmosphere is great. Drinks are also incredible - best i’ve had in a while. Speachless and the branco sangria were our favourites. We got the garlic prawns (highly recommend), secret iberico pork (was great but I think theres better on the menu), and gazpacho soup which was really refreshing. The waiter recommended "Eggplant Rancheras" (is known in Mexico for the eggs with black beans and jalapeños) but we weren't informed that it had ricotta and feta (2 different cheeses) and Miso sauce (Japanese) - this didn't work and we were not expecting these extra ingredients. We ordered also "Black pig à Alentajana" which is made with clams but the clams didn't come, the waiter forgot to inform us and again, this was suggested by him. It can happen and that's fine but is unfortunate. No solution was provided nor an attention to the bill. Most of the reviews are not made by locals but people from foreign countries, where I belive the food doesn't have such quality as in Portugal and therefore this seems top quality to them - not a 4,6 certainly.   I visited Hifen on a lovely sunny day perfect for overlooking the fisherman's beach (Praia de Ribeira) in central Cascais. The vibe was bustling and pretty relaxed, on a lazy spring afternoon. We were seated upstairs, a very awkwardly placed 5 people on a four-top, with my brother in law sitting at the end on a stool, unfortunately. Not a great start to the meal but the flurry of share plates that soon arrived, with a nice Lacrau Superior Branco from Douro, soon made amends. Modernised Portuguese food is the best way to describe this place. Rare and tender Pica Pau swimming in a mustard sauce, grilled lapas (limpets) with tangy garlic sauce, presunto croquettes, powerhouse ovos rotos with smoky punchy alheira crumbled on top, a tumble of grilled mediterranean vegetables topped with creamy burrata and a cloak of bresaola; porco alentejano (a bit tough and disappointing, to be honest - perhaps because the real thing by the costa vicentina absolutely blows it away and does not need updating in any way!), polvo (octopus) a lagareiro, and tempura prawns with sweet chilli sauce (please don't serve food with sweet chilli sauce - it gives me terrible 90's flashbacks!). Full points to the staff who when I dropped hints we were celebrating both parents in laws' birthdays, they brought over dark bitter scoops of chocolate gelato with a candle popped on top.   Pena não ter serviço de esplanada. The location couldn't be more idyllic, right above Cascais Bay, and the concept couldn't be more appealing: a bar-restaurant where the food is for sharing. There are communal tables for groups (or not), there's a cocktail menu, there are dishes to share (or not) and there's plenty of traditional inspiration from Portugal and beyond in original gastronomic transformations.   My wife organized a table on a private balcony. In the first floor are several small balconies for 2 persons and with a sliding door. It’s very romantic and great privacy. The waiting situation if you did not book is just unbearable. Most of the time you are standing under the AC blowing cold air... It ruins the experience.   We come to cascais a few times a year, and always try to explore the restaurants, but usually end up starting at given for a drink and not going anywhere else…. The cocktails are fantastic - always original and usually pack a punch! Tonight we cocktails, octopus salad, chips (potato, squash and beet.) and garlic prawns. So if you did not reserve a table, they offer a few tables for people who just show up, but I recommend going early otherwise you need to wait. The food was very nice! The price was very good as well, we paid ca. 110€ for 4 people incl. 2 desserts, 2 glasses of wine, 1 cocktail and 2 soft drinks. I highly recommend going there!   A great restaurant! We enjoyed lunch here twice while in Cascais! The duck salad is amazing!! We also came here for evening drinks after dinner and it had a great atmosphere!   Probably the best tapas I had when I was in Portugal. Their seafood is really fresh and prepared so well. If you have a nut allergy, their menu is pretty nut heavy, but they're good about taking them out if needed. The sangria was amazing (but strong), and the atmosphere is great - very beachy vibes!   Rude staff and arrogant customers. We had a problem with our main course which was begrudgingly replaced by our server. Whilst this was being resolved, a customer inside insisted on closing the balcony door on us whilst we were trying to catch the server’s attention and waiting for our food. We gave up on the food, went to settle the bill and our server was extremely rude, flippant and an awful bad attitude. It’s a shame to be writing this as the food we did have was good, cocktail was nice and the location views were quite nice too. A Gourmet Star level of cooking at really humble prices of about 10 Euro for a main course. The food was so good that we ordered another main course, added deserts and coffee. Octopus, squid, shrimps, black rice, white rice, the esoteric banana… … just everything was so tasty, creative, beautiful with an explosion of tastes perfectly matching, playing the sweet and the sour on the highest level and finishing with herbs perfectly chosen. I just have the impression that this guys are so humble that they do not realize at what level they are playing. Well, I will never forget this experience. The first floor balcony tables have interior glass doors, so ideal for a private, romantic meal, but too cold/windy on the night of our visit. Staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient. We have been there on a family meal with kids and we all shared different tapas beautifully cooked.   We stopped by for a lunch and definitely enjoyed the food and the view. It was not full on Wednesday lunch in March, but I imagine it is quite busy on weekends. Tataki de Novilho was a bit too chevy but it was rare as I asked. Tuna was perfect and really tasty. Tempura was ok. View is amazing! Prices were very affordable for the type of the food you are getting, place is very clean and staff is nice and helpful. We will definitely come back and recommend to others.   We LOVED it here. Hands down some of the best food I've ever had, beautifully made and tastes amazing. The service was outstanding, all staff were so friendly and recommended brilliant bits of food. Small plates but they're actually pretty big, we probably had around 1.5-2 each. Great value for money. Beautiful restaurant too, just been renovated so looks super inside. Cocktails are amazing also, I had a Pisco Sour which are sometimes horrendously made! Five stars... We'll be back!
