  A cozy, modern space in Coimbra. The service was friendly all throughout, the space was well decorated, and the food was truly delicious. We started with the olives and mixed board, which had cheese and meats. Both were very flavorful tapa options! Then we split the house steak and my goodness this one of the best things I’ve eaten in a long time! The meat was cooked perfectly (for my preference anyway), the seasonings were somehow light and rich at the same time that it added so much and yet didn’t take away from the simplicity of it, and the crispy onions on top were perfect. We also split a bottle of green wine, recommended by our server, which I hadn’t tried before and it was delightful. Overall, great night!   We had an excellent dinner for a very good price. The highlight of our experience was the lamb; the sweet and salty mix were beyond this world. The charcuterie board was excellent and so was the Muros Antiguos green wine. The ambience was great albeit the light was a little too bright and music a touch too loud.   What a fantastic spot. I had an amazing meal here. The flavours were fantastic, you could see the effort put into every dish. The olives were dressed incredibly, I also highly recommend the clams, the sauce was fantastic. The service was really friendly and attentive too. They have an apple crumble with an ice cream from the local store a few doors up that I also highly recommend. Portions were very big too, I will definitely visit again when I come to Coimbra.   Good light meal, portions are small hence the tapas concept but flavorful. The lamb chops were very good with a drizzle of honey. I do not recommend the hamburger from an American perspective, the taste of the meat was off and not much of a flavor, it really needs to be reworked unfortunately.   I was unfortunately disappointed by this place. Great location, kind and fast service, but the food was a bit below expectations, especially after trying nearby places the days before. The menu itself wasn’t that inviting and various tbh. The duck meatballs were really insane, and probably the best dish one can get. The lamb chops were also quite tasty, but only 3 and extremely small. The ovo c/ alheira was instead nothing special. The sangria was a good amount.   It was pouring rain, the place wasn’t open yet, the staff /owner welcomed me in till it stops raining, after while it kept raining. The staff served me with nice wine and some olive and bread.   Online menus NEEDS updating! The reason we chose this restaurant over another one was because of the shrimp almond menu item and because of the cheaper prices. We arrived only to learn that the online menu is outdated and there is no shrimp item plus the prices have increased by 50% (for example, the lamb online is 9.80 euros and in restaurant it is around 15 euros). Also FYI it is tapas meaning you should order about 2 items per person as the meats come with no sides. The quality of the food was good.   I've had tiny tapas dishes and also groaning platters so I can never decide how many to order for a meal. In the case of this restaurant, dishes were very generous and also top quality. A plate of padron peppers would probably have served four, the house steak was good and easily sufficient for a main course for one. Tapas tend to add up price wise though, and our lunch for two with wine and coffee came to 60 euros. Friendly attentive service and comfortable environment.   Lovely cafe in the center of old Coimbra. We had the duck cakes, mini burgers and salmon focaccia sandwich, and it was a bit too much lunch for two! Each dish was nicely prepared and delicious. Our leftovers were boxes for us to take. Prices are quite reasonable, with small plates around 8€ and larger 10€ and up. The only negative is the location along stairs allows space for only 4 outdoor tables, and it's very busy with tour groups passing.   We ordered a total of 6 plates including a salad and two dessert plates (one of which they gave us without ordering). The best dishes were the codfish with spinach and the cheesecake dessert. We found the salmon focaccia somewhat flavorless and it was a sandwich, not a focaccia style pizza slice. The “sticky” dessert option was strange. The toffee ice cream didn’t work well with the caramel covered muffin.   Soup was extremely delicious and the fennel salad as well. Would not recommend the vegetarian focaccia.   I’m from NYC and am very judgmental of my food experiences but I was delighted with my evening at Tapas and Costas. The staff generously opened a bottle of sparkling wine for me, even though there was not one available by the glass on the menu. The duck confit croquettes (with plum jam) were an outstanding start to my meal! I had the lamb chops which were cooked perfectly and had a subtle sweetness due to the honey that is on it. I had the eggs, bacon, mushrooms & fries dish as well. It was a tad over salted, otherwise it was still tasty & I did enjoy it. I had a glass of the house red which was light/medium bodied and very easy to drink and finished my meal with another glass of sparkling.   This place came recommended by a local whose Airbnb we were at and it did not disappoint. The food is so flavorful. We had the shrimp and baby eels, potato's, sauteed mushrooms, house salad, lamb chops and the grilled chicken skewer. We loved all of the various tapas we tried and the stand out for us was the ovos rotos which was fries, a mushroom gravy sauce, and bacon served with two fried eggs on top.
