  I cant put into words how much of an experience it is here! Every aspect of this restaurant exceeded my expectation. The views are 100% incredible and stunning. Makes you really appreciate the moment! Their menu is really easy to read and is in the local language and in English. I greatly appreciated that🙏. To our waiter, thank you for seating us and taking care of our visit. As far as the food, that’s where your eyes and tastebuds go to the moon and back. The octopus was fresh and nicely grilled.   If you want to enjoy your experience at this place, I'd recommend avoiding the bacalhau lagareiro. We were quite disappointed with it as the fish seemed poorly prepared, overly salty and had a strong smell of old fish. When we mentioned this to the waiter, they insisted that the fish was fine. Despite refusing the dish and ordering something else, we were still charged for the bacalhau. Aside from that, we did appreciate the scenic setting of the restaurant.   We had fish soup. the soup is 8€. For Portuguese standards an extremely high price (also considering the quite small portion). But the issue does not end there… It took them 30 mins to bring the soups. The soup was not fishy, it was more of an extremely blend lentil soup with fish pieces in it. My theory is that they used the vegetable soup (they have this on the menu, it is 3€) and added fish pieces… Very disappointing experience!   We are staying at Hotel Arribas Sintra hotel which is a 5min walk from this restaurant. I don’t see why you would be staying at this hotel and NOT visit bar do fundo. Firstly it has amazing views of the beach and cliff, secondly the staff are so so friendly and lastly, the food is beautiful. I had the spicy spaghetti with clams and it was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend got the steak which is he absolutely loved aswell. The caipirinha was sooooooo good, one of my favourites whilst being out here.   Absolutely loved this place for dinner. Food was exceptionally good and so was the service. We were a party of four who've enjoyed the carpacio, shrimps and artichoke as starters all of them excellent. As main we had the steak tartare 👍, the cod with rice and mussel foam also amazing and we shared the entrecote for 2 absolutely wonderful meal.   Sitting outside next to the beach is fantastic! The fish was perfectly baked. My kids ordered a steak but this was not really good. And they did not have smaller dishes for kids. The service was also excellent. We where lucky that we wanted to eat early because at 5pm they where fully booked for the evening.   The place is oustanding, perfect view over the bay and very nice design of the inside. We hated the unflexible treatment for the kids, we asked for some plain spaghetti (they have a spicy spaghetti in menu) but wasn’t possible. The rest of the food is average, bacalau was overcooked but nice in taste. Good choice to enjoy the view (at thick price) but avoid if with childs. Our kids were able to run around on the beach, and even got a bit wetter than I would have liked in the waves. The staff was very kind and made its feel at home. Prices are unfortunately very high and the bread with butter and olive cream offered as a starter are not included and need to be paid on top as well. We found it strange that even bread is not included while paying so much for the food. I saw an Entrecote for € 40 on the menue.....probably one of the most expensive one in entire Portugal?   We made a reservation for this restaurant based on the positive reviews (after some difficulty because they do not pick up the phone), but immediately upon arrival, the staff were really rude and dismissive. It was the strangest thing. When we sat down and ordered drinks and a starter, the waitress rolled her eyes. And the hostility and rudeness continued from all the staff. When I finally mentioned to my husband that something was up with the staff, he agreed. The whole experience was extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant. I couldn't help but feel that perhaps there was some elitism or snobbery at play? It doesn't matter that the food was good, after 2 and half years living in Portugal this is hands down the worst experience I've had at a restaurant. Don't waste your money here, because it's not cheap, either.   My friend suggested this place for dinner when we were in Sintra last November. I almost had doubts about going because it was quite far from where we were and we needed to head back to Lisbon. But I am so glad that we went. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the ocean. We went there around sunset time, so we got to see the beautiful sunset from the outdoor area we were sitting in. it was chilly, so they provided us blankets. Though the price range is quite expensive but the food was great; had flavors and taste. My friend and I, we both enjoyed the dishes we ordered. It was a beautiful memory. Would definitely love to go back to this restaurant if I am ever in Sintra again. Highly recommend if you don't mind the $$$.   To be avoided !!!!! My friend and I wanted to eat there as it was recommended by our host. We tried to go there and had a terrible welcome, they told us to call to book a table. Ok. We went to the beach to wait for about 2 hrs and called to book a table. On the phone they told us they do not take any reservation (?!?). This should have been a sign for us to just leave it, but we really wanted to eat there, so we went again and asked for a table. The welcome was terrible again but at least they put us on a table. We had to wait for our order to be taken and while coming the waitress rolled her eyes (?!?!). Again this should have been a red flag and we should have left right away. We ordered octopus (pulvo). It came in a bath of olive oil. It was just tasteless & oily. For 20€ we expected something better. But again we should not have come at all. We told the waiter that the food was not good, no apologies, nothing. Horrible service & horrible food. They just get clients for the nice view I guess, still not worth it. Never coming again.   Menu looks great and had problems to chose but then the mussels i chose were basically overcooked, taste was good but texture too light for a sauce but too densed for a soup. Will try other dishes though since review are good. So based on 1 plate should not be over criticized.   We went to a Michelin star restaurant and it absolutely sucked compared to Bar do Fundo. Every single dish was the best food I've had in a long time. Compared to the US you instead of a thousand dollar bill maybe you might reach 300 here with 10 appetizers and 6 main courses. Bar do Fundo hands down best experience since being in Portugal.   It’s a very beautiful place located at the end of this road with amazing views of the ocean. It was nicely decorated, with attentive service and cozy environment. The codfish and oyster are good. One can order one or more oyster, which is very convenient. The filet isn’t that good, but it’s understandable as it’s a seafood restaurant. What made me feel shocked is the price of salsas of entrada, some bread with three salsas. It’s just normal salsa for bread ( some olive oil, not sure the other two names) but they charged 4.5 euros for salsa and 1.5 euros for bread, which I think it’s a bit ridiculous.   I love places that do not pretend to be fancy. Bar do Fundo is exactly that. It is small but cosy and situated right on the edge of the beach. If you check the time of the sunset you can see the sun going down behind the Atlantic ocean. The beef mignon with citrus sauce and Rosemary was the best beef mignon I have ever had. Same goes for the raspberry cheesecake. Staff is friendly and professional without ever being too present. Adore this restaurant and will definitely return. We ordered octopus salad which was basically octopus soaked in vinegar with piece of tomato, not very salad.   Terrible experience! The only way to book a table is through a call. I called one day before and did a reservation for today (August 16th, 2021) at 7pm, table for 2. I had reinforced on the call that we were going there to sit on a table with sunset view. On our arrival, there was was no reservation under my name. The proposed solution was to either sit on a table with limited time to stay or in an isolated table far from the other tables with sunset view. Even after proving that I had called the restaurant and made a reservation, the hostess did not allow us to sit on one of the 3 available tables with the best view. The hostess was completely not polite! We came from Holland, drove from Lisbon to Bar do Fundo to have this unpleasant experience. We definitely do not recommend this bar!   Delicious fresh seafood and a friendly feel to the restaurant with unbeatable views. We popped down after Nortada had somehow missed our reservation and after their rudeness in addressing the issue we left and stumbled across Bar Do Fundo. Without a reservation they were kind enough to move a table to accommodate for us on a Friday night and were delightful throughout, helping us debone our fish as we were struggling to. Tasty wine, lovely people and a sunset like no other from the decking. Worth the visit if you’re in the area and I’f you’re not then you must make the journey!   I got many recommendations for this place. (I'm not eating seafood though) The meat menu was pretty small and the dish I got was a bit over priced 12 € for a steak with half a potato as chips (like the supermarket ones, just fresh made) is not worth it. My family said the fish was good and most important the stuff was super friendly and played with our 3 year old all the time.   All around great. Venue is unbeatable. Spectacular setting. The risotto was recommended so we had both the shrimp and the mushroom and asparagus. We followed that with a Sea Bream and a Sole.   Simply wonderful. It's surprising finding a place which truly changes your perspective and this place definitely does that. Usually beach food or restaurants are the normal hotdog stands or chain restaurants but this isn't the case here and is truly something special. Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time because you'll definitely need it. We started off with very delicious oysters and they were so good we had to get another order. Before our entrees we got the fish soup which was creamy and nice. It was recommended that we get the Tuna Steak and I wasn't disappointed because it was one of the most delicious and memorable tuna steaks I've ever had. The sauce and rice in re dish truly make it mouth watering and amazing. For dessert check out the panna cotta. It's a taste of Portugal it's finest and you won't be disappointed.
