  We have walked past GiG many times, but we had a vegan visitor and stopped in for lunch. What a pleasant surprise! There are so many vegan options it was difficult to choose. We chose the Fun Bowl and was delicious. For the non-vegan, the salmon tartar was like a sushi roll in cake form also delicious. It took about 15 minutes to get the main dish, but the wonderful atmosphere made for a pleasant wait. The portions were more than we could eat. Food was unfortunately tasteless, presentation was very nice, but the hollendaise sauce didnt taste of anything, the meal was lacking salt and eggs were slightly undercooked.   My wife's Eggs Benedict had toast and the crusts were so hard they were impossible to cut or eat. The pancakes with chocolate topping weren't a hit with our 6 year old, which was not normal either.   I am so happy we found GiG while visiting Ericeira. The atmosphere in the cafe is really cozy and the service is both efficient and very kind! Everyone we interacted with had a smile on their face. We ordered two cappuccinos and a vegan blueberries coulisse which were very good. Definitely a recommended stop also for lunch, we saw delicious options on the menu but unfortunately we had to leave before it was lunch time. I haven’t had tapioca in a long while, but the combination with salmon, sautéed spinach and poached eggs was a real delight.   This place is usually excellent. However, on a recent visit they served our breakfasts to a bunch of other customers So we, somewhat reluctantly, agreed to have thiers ( I can't abide by wasted food) It came somewhat later and they even tried to serve that to the other customers too. This is when the mistake was unearthed. In essence ended up with a scrambled egg and chickpea thing (OK but a little boring). I had ordered poached eggs haloumi avo and mushroom rosti.. Strange that the other customer simply ate it. My daughter was given the chocolate pancakes which had been sitting with the errant customer (she was busy eating my breakfast), and who had also ordered the pancakes but clearly been given ours.   Worst experience I've had in a month spent in Portugal - where customer service has otherwise been excellent. The staff in this place are so incredibly rude, unwelcoming and inattentive that I would never go back. There's no food of high enough quality that could justify this standard of customer service. We were a group of 4 adults ordering a bulk of food with one person who needed to use their laptop for 5 minutes (literally, on her lap) and multiple staff members repeatedly admonished her for this. When we politely queried the rationale for the no-laptop policy, we were dismissed with rude hand gestures by one waitress and later barked at by another. We were also patronised when we placed our food orders and snapped at when we asked for something extra following the main order. The tables surrounding us were also waiting a very long time for service with no attention being paid or awareness of the frustration felt by customers. Very poor attitude that undoes what is probably good work being done behind the scenes/in the kitchen.   The ambience is nice, the staff is welcoming and hard-working and keep everything at float..very busy (at least on the Sunday we went there), our food was swiftly prepared.....you better make a reservation (you can do it on their website) .... The food was nice, we had the "Brunch for two".....it was good and every item was well cooked and nicely presented but it came in this very cumbersome gigantic tray that is not practical at all because it leaves you with no space left on the table, i was quite uncomfortable during my meal, it was as if another person was sitting at my side because of the space occupied by that Herculean hunk of metal on the table......also not that much variety on this menu......the portions were not that generous either but they suffice, I guess.....the fresh juices were interesting. Overall it was a nice experience, nice place to go with friends and/or family.....but I think the whole thing is a bit overrated and overpriced, the ratio between price and food is, IMO, not very well balanced (at least for Portuguese standards), I think what happens in places like this is you end up paying for location...   The food it tasty however they don’t allow the use of laptops. This is something against logic since Ericeira has a lot of digital nomads. The staff doesn’t give heads up and it’s nowhere written (at least not noticeable). Spending 18€ on coffee and lunch and not being able to use my laptop for half an hour is a bit mad.   We went with our toddler today being 8 months pregnant I am to receive priority service and seating (the laws in Portugal really help us hugely pregnant women stay off our feet where they can) they broke the law not receiving us and filling many tables in front of us as we waited then when we asked to make a formal complaint they threatened to “do the same” to my business (I own a cafe on the other side town) and said I didn’t deserve service because my cafe has loud music?! We are no where near their establishment let alone close enough to affect each other’s business. Keep in mind I had no idea who these people are nor that they knew me - my family frequently ordered from and ate here previously but we won’t be coming back. Small minded town people that have no fear threatening revenge when they get caught not following the laws. Even beyond the law just doing what’s right to both the vulnerable population and ones Neighbors is important. I’m ashamed to have our Neighborhood represented like this.   We were lucky and got there just as the sun was shining directly on the café. And that exact spot was probably the best place to be in Ericeira right then. We got lots of good food for a reasonable price. On another day the waitress mixed up the order completely unfortunately. I would have cut half a star for it, but as this is not possible, I'll definitely rather go up to five than down to four!   Such a great breakfast - really varied and got to try lots of different things. The items in the picture came with a fresh smoothie (or juice) and a coffee/tea.   Wonderful place with friendly staff, tucked away from main square. We were looking for a place for brunch in Ericiera - preferably vegetarian. GiG was the perfect find. Once I had to go and source my own cutlery and glass for my drink, I think maybe they just need some more staff when it’s busy.
