  It's a place that you can fall in love with at first sight due to its location. However if you went to a proper Portuguese bakery (where everything is half the price), you will notice that the pastry served is a shame. To make things worse, the also removed the yummy lemonade that stood out from the menu in the bistro.   I unfortunately had the worst black coffee I ever tasted here a few days ago. 2.80 for an Americano that was not just bad but undrinkable. If I hadn't been with a girl I would have complained and not paid. I was trying hard to stay cool. I work in restaurants and make coffee myself. I thought initially it had salt in it, it was so thin and tasted stale. Twice I drank a sip and then gave up. I can always finish a coffee even if it is bad but this was a new low for me. It was served in a very expensive and stylish cup but that only annoyed me more in the end. I didn't write a review in years and have deleted Instagram and Facebook so for me to take the time to leave this review is shocking even to me. I had just finished a three hour coastal walk and it was bad. There was a really nice Labrador dog outside who I stroked and that took the edge off the horrible coffee! I remained Stoic. Nice people there and good service. Mostly for tourists and super cool digital nomads I think. However, for my expectations, it feels a bit too much LA, losing the Portuguese touch. Coffee is great (one of the best in town). Food is good, but a bit overpriced compared to other options. Dinner menu is not big with not a lot of options. Breakfast and lunch menu is better. Service is nice but sometimes it takes a long time for them to come and ask you.   The view are just breathtaking, would recommend a table outside in the terrace. The cocktails are okay. The food is not so great. We ordered mezzo and the chicken kofta. The mezzo wasn’t authentic Lebanese at all it was quiet tasteless and very small portion for two people, the chopped salad was basically just big chunks of carrots. The chicken kofta was also super dry and not special at all. Being a huge Lebanese cuisine fan, this was very disappointing. Would recommend going for drinks to enjoy the view but not to eat.   So amazing food. Is not completely vegan but is a lot of choice for vegan I only ate vegan but my husband could chose some chicken and prowns. The food was amazing, everything that we ordered was perfect, It's so rare that, next to meat dishes, vegan dishes are so good in a mixed restaurant. Congratulations good job.   Review for boardwalk level café: Last year food was 5 star, service 5 star, atmosphere 5 star. After the new year or winter break (I can’t remember one or the other), it went from no table service to obligatory table service. This greatly changed the atmosphere and made the enjoyment there for me much less. It made the place small. It made it more stressful and with tension. The menu also changed and the options became less 5 star. No more schakshuka or Lebanese specialties. Could you guys bring back the good food and change the atmosphere back?? Maybe getting some Brazilians to work there might enliven the atmosphere of the place. I would even be happy with there being good food at a more limited time than the opening times.   Great food; terrible service and staff and don’t they know it. Probably the worst service you’ll get in Ericeira, regularly takes us about 30mins to an hour to get a coffee and pastry from the cabinet. Dared to complain once and the waitress refused to talk to me and shoved the card machine in my face. If there was an alternative that did the same food and view I’d do it, it’s like taking drugs, appealing but hate yourself for doing it.   Very nice place right in front of the beach. They serve different food and they have the wine glass option. I just felt it could have more fish options, like fresher ones since we are right next to the beach and it was hot. But everything was very well cooked. We had a great time.   I literally just got home from this restaurant and needed to write a review straight away. The food was INCREDIBLE. The best I’ve had in Portugal, yet! The staff were all SO kind and spoke perfect english. We first had coffees in the cafe downstairs with our friends, plus 2 babies. We then went upstairs for dinner. The entire experience was so cozy, homey, warm, yummy, and pleasant. I cannot wait to go back all the time!! HIGHLY recommend!! Oh and we’re vegan— plenty of options for us!! And the reason for that is because the space is gorgeous, the food is amazing, and the service is friendly and unpretentious.Great value for money too for a beachside restaurant with a great view and great design.   I had a great experience eating breakfast at this place. The food was delicious and fresh (I had the Balagan Brekkie). The hummus was lovely. The location has amazing views on the south beach and coastline. So what’s not to like? I thought the portion size of the breakfast was a bit too small given the price. The mango/pineapple smoothy was also a bit disappointing. It tasted like it came from a bottle or carton. On top of that, it was “self service” so you had to go inside to the counter to (re-)order.   BEST RESTAURANT IN ERICEIRA! Really amazing experience in this hidden gem. Ate there with some great company, a vegan and a vegeterian friend and we have spent a perfect evening at Balagan. We all found perfect options for dinner - no reservation was needed and the stuff was brilliant as well. Super fast, friendly, explained different dishes. We literally ordered the whole menu and everything was really good, fresh ingredients, great taste, on point, fair prices and great value for money. Also the stuff is super-duper friendly and gives great advice for your stay in and around Ericeira. Beautiful in- and exterior. Starters and aperatif were extremely good too. Had the best food here during my two week trip in Portugal. Still main factor to enjoy this evening so much were the girl&guy with whom i spent the dinner with and i would still HIGHLY recommend Balagan! Especially if you are veg. or vegan this is the best option in town. Thank you very much. /Update: for my last evening we decided to go there for a second time directly the next day. Maybe you should make a reservation because this place finally gets the attention they deserve and there is a limited capacity in tables.   This restaurant is reason enough just to come to Ericeira! Probably the best restaurant in town, and definitely the only middle eastern restaurant. Really authentic, gourmet food at reasonable prices. Nice outdoor seating, fast service, and run by a really cool woman! I appreciated that around half the menu is vegan, I think I tried everything. Definitely recommend the eggplant and the chocolate tahini ice cream. And from my non-vegan friends I hear the cheesecake is to die for!
