  I can't say anything about the food or the service because I was only passing through. But based on what I saw, the facilities were clean and the food smelled good. Restaurante Estamine is the only restaurant that I could see on Ilha Deserta so there's that.   Me and my partner visited the restaurant today. When we arrived we were very impressed by the building and we were excited to have some food inside. When we sat down, the waiter presented us with menus. This was not a welcoming interaction. We asked for a sandwich with gluten free bread. The waiter told us that it "would be 2.80€ extra Per slice" making it 5.60€ as it was a sandwich and a sandwich obviously requires two slices for bread. In general the service was rude and didn't even offer us water but all of the other tables got offered water and bread.   Me and my sister had a day trip to the Desert Island (Ilha Deserta) the weather was great so we thought we will have a nice meal after a long walk around the island. The food was freshly made, well presented and delicious. The restaurant was closing at 6 pm and we had the last boat leaving at that same time too. We tried oysters for the first time and our waitress gave us some good tips what spices we can use if we don’t want to eat oysters just plain. The prices was good, but a bit more expensive then we had before going in other places in Faro. The drink prices was reasonable. But the biggest plus for this restaurant is how well the food was prepared and how fresh it was. Definitely will come back again once I come back to Faro.   Absolutely unbelievable, beautiful view and gorgeous food. Cocktails are also really good! I would say this place is a must-visit but it does require a little planning as the only way on or off the island is via boat (there are scheduled ferries and speedboat shuttles).   This was one of the worst experiences in a restaurant I've had, and I eat out often. Go see my other reviews. I'm not a jerk. This was BAD. It was expensive for what I had. The food was bland. The only redeeming quality was the lemonade. The service was horrible. We had to ask twice for water, twice for the bill. We had to get up at the counter to make things move, twice. Flies were everywhere. People had their coasters over their glasses of wine to stop them from falling in. We weren't offered the cover, which thankfully didn't happen because people seem to complain a lot about it being meager compared to other places. It was really a disappointment after this was recommended to us. To avoid at all costs. Nice decor though, I guess? It has that going for it.   Alert: be aware of the "not in the menu items", they'll be unexpectedly expensive. 10€ for a large bottle of water and fries is not justified (especially if the water is in a plastic bottle and the fries are a tiny portion lacking sauce). Based on this, the place is a complete rip-off. Initially we ordered the 4€ homemade chips, but on delivery they looked like out of a Lays bag (rather than French fries kinda chips), so we explained the misunderstanding and asked for french fries. It wasn't on the menu, so they decided to charge us 6€ for it. It was a small portion served without any sauce, spices or whatsoever. We also ordered their acai smoothie, which was actually very nice, but it better be for 7.50€. After this, we didn't want to try their food. The terrace area is nice, but you don't sit directly by the beach and if you're a non-smoker, you'll be bothered by the people smoking around you. Também pedimos o smoothie de açaí, que na verdade estava muito bom, mas é melhor que seja por 7,50€. Depois disso, não queríamos experimentar a comida deles. A área do terraço é agradável, mas você não se senta diretamente na praia e, se não for fumante, ficará incomodado com as pessoas fumando ao seu redor.

  Our experience was anything but pleasant. As it was the only restaurant on the island, we had no choice but eating here. It was instantly clear that there wasn’t enough staff to cover the service. We had to wait terribly long to get the attention of the rude waiter who was trying to ignore us most of the time. The gazpacho and the lemonade we had, were alright, but that’s the only good thing we can say about this place. When we left later, we wanted to take something to go, but again we had to wait endlessly for our order which turned out to be not what we asked for.   No go! We booked a table in advance to 4pm and the waited until 5pm. Waiter was rude when I asked if we can sit at our time slot. We went to eat at the bar and was even worse.   My hotel recommended this restaurant on the desert island. It's worth the trip. I came here for lunch today. I had the big prawn with white rice. Then order a 2nd side of coriander rice. I also got myself a lemon mint juice. The meal was fantastic. The team did forget my 2nd order of rice but once they remembered, it was brought quickly to the table. The only downside to a big prawn is you also get a big head, which may not have as much meat in it. I finished the meal with lemon ice cream. Paid and headed to my boat back to the mainland. A good spot to go with someone as a few items are meant to be shared as it's a whole fish. Unless someone was really that hungry.   As a hospitality consultant, my food experiences are always very… thoroughly analysed. Getting in was fine, nice hostess. However, once seated, staff was hard to… reach. The place looked very high class so I was expecting high class service. It look disorganised and took a little long to order everything as there was not much estructure amongst the staff. The food was OK, had the Petiscos sharing for 2, was overall… fine. Had the seafood pasta, yes, fine. And some potatoes. There were some basic details that were overlooked, no salt, no pepper unless requested, again hard to reach the staff, but as no other options, yes, OK. Disappointed to realise that we paid 14 euros (3,5€ per person) for one piece of bread each (small), and a few olives. Our bad for not being used to their way in Portugal. However, it made it… sour towards the end. We left as we felt… disappointed overall with service and food (for the price), but walked away considering that they are the only restaurant in the island and they have the upper hand. Professional opinion as a hospitality consultant: polishing some details, with the facilities they have, it would be a much better experience for their customers. Won’t return if I go back to the island. Would bring my own food and drinks. Houve alguns detalhes básicos que foram esquecidos, sem sal, sem pimenta, a menos que solicitado, novamente difícil de alcançar a equipe, mas como não há outras opções, sim, OK. Decepcionado ao perceber que pagamos 14 euros (3,5€ por pessoa) por um pedaço de pão cada (pequeno), e algumas azeitonas. Nossa pena por não estarmos acostumados com o jeito deles em Portugal. No entanto, isso tornou tudo… azedo no final. Saímos porque nos sentimos… decepcionados no geral com o serviço e a comida (pelo preço), mas fomos embora considerando que eles são o único restaurante da ilha e têm vantagem. Opinião profissional como consultor de hotelaria: lapidando alguns detalhes, com as facilidades que possuem, seria uma experiência muito melhor para seus clientes. It is also the only restaurant on the deserted island and it has an incredible atmosphere and AMAZING views. AND THE FOOD IS AMAZING!!! Your taste buds will be thanking your for a very long time if you eat here. The waitstaff was so friendly and wonderfully attentive. While we spent a bit more than 50€/person for our group of 4- you certainly don’t need to. We had two bottles of white wine, two appetizers (the smoked tuna and the gooey cheese), entrees for everyone (grilled sea bass, mushroom linguini, and the calm rice which feeds two people), and two desserts (the keké chocolate lava cake and the cheese desert) We recommend all the dishes we tried! And if you only had one drink and an entree each person you could easily keep your bill around 25-30€/ person. Sadly I don’t have any photos of the food, because it looked so good and tasted so good upon arrival we lost ourselves in the meal and just had a wonderful, present moment.   Beautiful beach restaurant. The boat trip to the island is already a treat. We booked the tickets for the ferry (€5 each way per person) online. Very friendly people on the ferry as well that help you get on and off. Quite steep steps when you get off the ferry on Ilha Deserta though. The restaurant was nice, clean and had beautiful views.   This place was absolutely incredible. We took a boat and went over to the restaurant. The boat had a cover on it so it kept the wind out. It is on an island with nothing else except a few Fishermans huts. The whole experience is amazing. Once we arrived we were greeted with open arms by the owner who is so friendly and lovely. The staff were attentive and we had a seat right next to the window so we could look at the beautiful view. They had a vegan fettuccini pasta option with mushrooms, a salad and the best dessert I’ve ever had in my entire life. I had the Keke cake (molten chocolate lava cake). The restaurant is sustainable and has huge solar panels outside. On their menu they have a page dedicated to ways in which they are eco-friendly and sustainable.   Fine dining at it's best, great experience. 40 minutes ferry ride e10pp round trip. Departed Faro at 3 pm back on 5:30 departure from the desserted island, enough to walk the island and a full meal. We paid e85 for baby cuttlefish cooked in black ink with rice, fried prawns with sauce and salad, 2 mojitos, large draft and rice pudding. Seasoning spot on, flavors were perfect, and service was nice....killer views though watching the ocean like never before. Elegant, modern restaurant who has character and run by solar power. On their website they advise you to come by water taxi which is expensive, ferry ride is perfectly comfortable and entertaining. Umbrella and 2 lounges rent is for e20 to stay by the beach, cash and you must leave by 6sh to catch last ferry at 7. Beach is violent and doesn't worth it. Não há necessidade nem de reserva antecipada, principalmente pela metade. A visita à ilha de Faro foi inútil.

  I was surprised to hear that all the window seated tables were reserved during lunch today (Wednesday & island near empty), the elderly Female Manager actually was slightly rude to me on how I would make that assumption and laughed. Anyway, reserved they supposedly were so into the centre of the restaurant we sat. We dined for the best part of two hours and during that time, 70 % of those “reserved” tables remained vacant and other walk-in customers were granted those window tables. We had to beckon for table service each time and was never asked how we found the dining experience. I paid 130 euros for two Diners, so would expect to be treated better than we were. I was going to dine at the Santa Maria restaurant in Faro this evening, but will not risk any further poor customer service as i understand they are under the same ownership. I’ll take a picnic next time I go to the Island.   Nice but far too expensive. Honestly, it’s far too expensive for the quality of the food. You can find better quality for a much less expensive price.   We’d heard several comments that (due to the restaurant having to ship in all supplies and staff from the mainland) it was expensive by Algarve standards. It isn’t. There were four of us and we had couvert, 3 starters, 4 main courses, 3 desserts, 2 jugs of sangria, 4 large bottles of water and coffee, and the total bill came to €50 per person. Compared to some of the rip-off beach restaurants in the Golden Triangle (who also can’t compete on the location front) we thought it was very good value for money. You get what you pay for. Some of the ill-informed ‘reviews’ on TripAdvisor object to the pricing, saying the restaurant “runs a monopoly” or is “a tourist trap.” Don’t they do any research before they come here? Or look at a menu before ordering? Or have a tongue in their head to ask questions? We went for a walk and wanted to return for a desert. We've been told, they are open until 7pm. Fomos dar um passeio e queríamos voltar para um deserto. Disseram-nos que estão abertos até às 19h. Quando voltamos logo depois das 18h, a cozinha estava fechada, não havia serviço nas mesas. Fomos arrogantemente convidados a sair mais de 10 minutos antes das 19h. Eu não recomendaria este lugar, infelizmente é o único restaurante nesta área.

  Ilha Deserta is magical. Therefore the food seems to taste better than it might on the mainland! No cod. Big disappointment and especially so when we were only told when placing our order. We were offered golden bream as dish of the day but at 250 thought it exorbitant. Went for sea bass, cooked in the oven, instead. It was delicious.   Quite A nice place but extremely over priced as it is literally the only building on the island so obviously has a monopoly over the clients. I don't think the island is worth visiting, as there's only a standard very small beach there and no natural nice places to visit. The only good thing was the nice sea shells. The wait is Too long considering they don't have so many dishes to choose from and people/tourists who came on speed boats have to rush to get back to the shore on time. So only come here if you don't want to explore the island, since you wont have time for both.   The location of the restaurant was awesome, very near to the beach. The food and the service was excellent. The waiters were very carefull to all the requests of the customers. The fist was very fresh and well presented. If you go behind the restaurant, you can see your fish while is cooking. The price was high, but I think was appropriate for what they offer.   We spent one week between Lisbon and Algarve and we eat in several amazing restaurant, but if we have to choose one will be this. The location is great and very particular being the only building on the island, quiet and enjoyable. The food was stunning, everything tasting as just fished, and a big variety of choices. We were four and choose a starter and a main each so we could taste almost everything and was hard to choose the best course. The service was professional and quick. Prices are high but appropriate and it worth to spend a little extra for a 5 stars restaurant. Have a try if you go in Algarve!   I can only echo the other reviews. The food was great, but the prices are high and the service is slow. The waiters were well informed and skillfully prepared the fish tableside. I would recommend trying it if the prices are within your budget, but if you have a return ferry booked plan accordingly.   This restaurant has a 'captive' audience of people visiting 'Isla Deserta' by boat trip, so I was bit sceptical going in, but the staff were very friendly and the razor clam rice that I had was stunning! My wife enjoyed the Tuna carpaccio too and the prices were very reasonable. The restaurant setting is fabulous and it's all glass sides give it a brilliant view.
