  We came for dinner and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Level of service was brilliant & the vegetarian options (mushroom fajita & vegetarian chilli burrito) were delicious, drinks are also brilliant. I recommend the pina colada & frozen sunrise.   This is a very casual restaurant but the best mexican food we have had in Portugal. We followed another reviewer who had the jalapeno poppers and the meat nachos. For two people that was plenty. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is casual with this restaurant that has not changed since opening in 2001. Many people have signed their names on the walls so it is not chic but quaint.   Recently moved to faro and felt right home at Taco y Tequilla . The food is amazing , the environment the vibes are immaculate , the tables are just beautiful and the staff are just so welcoming and lovely and if very affordable. I visited at least once or twice a week and my favourite was the burrito with água doce de maracujá. Service quite slow especially drinks and 2 out of 12 dishes were the wrong dishes.but waiter was very apologetic and sorted problem by asking if we were OK with wrong dishes and altering price.   Lovely atmosphere, graffitied walls add a charm to the place. Staff nice and attentive, fair prices and big portions. Unluckily, food wasn't to my liking. We were asked if we wanted spice and we said "no spice" assuming it was about spiciness levels. Unfortunately food tasted like there was no spices or herbs added at all, it was really bland.   It is the best restaurant we have been in Faro. We had a really perfect evening. They were super friendly, did the best service we experienced in Portugal. They served us very fast, always caring if everything is alright. We really enjoyed the conversation with them. The walls are full of handwritings. It is really unique. I think best parties are happening in there. So if you want to spend a perfect evening with the best food go for Taco y Tequila. If you see the picture above with our plates: in front of me you see vegetarian Fajitas with mushrooms, rice and kind of smashed beans which is like a cream. I loved it. And my husband took Taco with chicken. He really loved it, too. This people have such a good heart. Please go there if you have the chance. We would love to come back.   Really bad place, bad service, the food is not that good for the price. Their menu in the restaurant is more expensive then online. On the menu, it is writtin the tacos come with salad and tortillas, they only give us the tacos. We came back to tell them because maybe they forgot and the guy told us the salad and tortillas was in the tacos and refuse to give it to us. We try to understand ans he was really rude.   Had a fantastic meal, the chicken nacho sharing platter for a starter was very good, gooey cheese, jalepeno's, tomato etc. I had spicey beef burrito the beef was shredded and was very filling with a good amount of heat, it can with chunky chips and sour cream dip. The staff were extremely friendly and had shots of tequila with us and did not charge us for their shots. Even gave us somberro's to wear. 3 beers, 1 vodka & coke, shared starter, main meal each for €45.00.   After a week in Portugal all I wanted was a good margarita with some chips and salsa. Fabio did not disappoint. He went above and beyond to make a great margarita and the food was one of the best meals we had in Portugal.   If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. We were given our drinks and had our order taken no problem, after a full HOUR of nobody bringing our food or coming to our table we got the attention of a waiter. He comes back from the Kitchen to tell us that what we ordered was out of stock, only AFTER leaving us sitting there for an hour and us having to ask what was going on. In my 5 years living in Portugal this is by far the WORST service I have ever received. No apologies offered and furthermore when we expressed how annoyed we were, we were met with Blank stares and "yeah that's not our problem" Do not come here if you want to have a good night.   “Vegetarian options” “Flavorful” “Price-worthy” We loved this restaurant so much, we went there two days in a row. The portion of the cheese quesadilla was surprisingly big, and it was super cheesy. One hundred percent comfort food. The avocado salad was very fresh, with a satisfying zing from the orange slices and went really well with the seitan fajita, which was had relatively strong flavors. The bulldog was huge and perfectly ok for two people to share. The only dish we didn’t really enjoy were the nachos (2.5E), which did not taste as fresh and therefore had a stale kind of crunch. The cheddar dip cost another 2 euros but tasted artificial. On our second night we ordered the seitan fajita again. But switched the appetizer to fried jalapeños and the salad to passion fruit salad. The jalapeños were delicious, not spicy at all. And the salad was actually made of fresh passion fruit, not from the can. It also tasted good, but in comparison, we preferred the avocado salad. The personnel was friendly and helpful. The waiting time for the food to be served is quite long, but worth the wait.   This mexican restaurant has a nice vibe and its decorated with all kind of mexican elements. From sombreros to guitars, that you can even play on it if you asks them, and all kind of messages or signatures on the wall. Very nice. The place is pretty small, so don't expect to go there with big groups. I often bumped into others when walking to the toilet or went outside for fresh air. The service can be seen as good and bad. The bad thing is that they take quite some time to bring you some drinks, even for a glass of juice that came from the bottle. But the good thing is that they are friendly and helpful. The food they serve are well decorated, although the taste is decent. They add up enough sides on your dish so its worth the money. I wouldn't really go there again especially for their food, since its really decent, but more for a place to chill for a while.   Hi.... We just wanted a different meal...and we both like Mexican....so we tried it. We arrived about 8.30 and it was half full....before long it was full to bursting.....tables outside even. We had beers only during the visit. We decided on nachos to share and they were very very good....👍👍 We both had chicken fajitas....and although they were nice...just not enough peppers and spice. The man who served us gave us a shot of tequila and educated us in its history and taste etc .....was not what I expected....it was so good as a shot..... Please give it a try here....the staff are so good ...we are just running out of days...we would go back..   As an American who's been living in Europe for a year, my wife and I were yearning for some good Mexican food. Tacos y Tequilla did not disappoint. We had the battered cheese-stuffed chilles (cheddar peppers for you Americans), and they were on point, fantastic. The salsa and nacho chips were also fantastic. Loved the pico as well. My wife had the chicken tacos and I had fajitas. They were great. The fajitas were not quite the same as they are in the states (with a sizzling plate of beef), but they were fantastic nonetheless. The staff were friendly and there was also live music. Overall, this was a really great experience. Strongly recommend.   The best Mexican restaurant ever!! The cocktails and food were amazing!! The service was a little slow and the ambience a little too loud but the enthusiasm of the owner, great live music and of course the yummy food made up for it!! We had the fiery tomato soup and the spicy chicken tacos they were flavourful and tasty. We left the restaurant feeling full and happy.   Taco y Tequilla is a nice little Mexican restaurant in a central location in Faro. Having gone there on a Saturday at peak time it was packed. Wait times were very much on the high end, even just to get a menu, but given the time somewhat understandable. The food was average to good and prices were on par with other establishments. Frozen margaritas were nice and strong. The evening was soured somewhat when dealing with the bill. Total came to around €33, I placed two €20 notes and change totalling around €43 and asked for €5 in change. The waiter never returned with change, even though I gestured with 5 fingers and asked for the change. Doubt it was a translation error as he had easily conversed in English earlier.
