  We had a lovely experience here watching the sunset on the beach and then going inside for dinner. We had some fresh fish, which was good, though I get the sense that shellfish may be more of the specialty. A bit expensive, but clearly you are also paying for the setting and the views. The staff were quite friendly and attentive, and were able to customize for our dietary restrictions and preferences.   Beautiful setting, but the place is a complete rip off. Nineteen Euros for literally a few pieces of calamari. The food was ok, but nothing special, especially given the price and for what you get is totally not worth it. The attitude of the staff is also very nonchalant and I would not go back.   I’ve rated this as one star after driving 40 minutes to arrive and being disappointed by the lack of hospitality. I’m travelling alone on this trip and was thus obliged to pay for two chairs if I wanted to sit on the beach. Not only that, there are two daily shifts which are paid for separately. I happened to arrive at 11:30, right in the middle of the 9:30-13:30 time slot, I was informed that I would have to pay the full price for two chairs, for two time slots, if I’d wanted to sit beyond 13:30. Annoyed by the idiocy of this policy I turned around and went somewhere a bit more welcoming. Luckily, that is not hard to come by along this coast.   Came as a recommendation from a wine maker in Douro. We had a wonderful meal and enjoyed the service. It is seen as expensive to some but we didn’t notice it to be overly high. We enjoyed a bottle of wine, calamari, seafood rice and pavlova. Up on the rooftop, the servers created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. View and location is amazing.   So sad to notice that we sat in the table with no mans land. Today there was a young female waitress (trainerin), older femal waitres (who has a very bad Day) and a senior man waiteres.   The location is great as it offers an amazing view of the beach. Unfortunately this is the only 100% positive comment I can leave for this restaurant. The food was okay, but extremely overpriced for what it was. The real let down, however, was the service. From the waiter that took away our half-eaten starters and ignored me when I told her to leave it at the table, to the employee that in his rush shut the bathroom door on my daughter as she was exiting, he mumbled half of an apology and got extremely irritated when I said he should have been more careful, I do not look forward to going back there. Enjoy the view while you are on the beach and go to one of the many nearby restaurants, you will have a much better experience!   View and location is amazing . The food was very tasty and cooked well but it took over 1 hour and they were not that busy . The table next to us arrived after we did and had starters and main before we got anything at all. Very high prices for the area in general - you are paying for the view for sure And €3.50 cover charge per person - totally unnecessary . Our server was fine but not overly friendly - The salad we were given had quite a lot of rotten leaves - I told her and she was just like oh . No apologies or offers to change it .   After reading an article in the newspaper, we decided to give Rei das Praias a try. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be rather disappointing. While the location was undeniably prime, the dishes left much to be desired with their high prices. However, the real letdown was the lackluster service, or at least the young lady that served us. As regular visitors to Portugal, we've always cherished the warmth and friendliness of the locals, but this place seemed solely focused on transactions; sit, eat, pay and go. If you don’t mind a nice view, there are certainly better options available in Ferragudo that also offer more satisfying dining experiences.   Beautiful views of the beach. However, the building is a structure without air-conditioning and with paneless windows. It was uncomfortably sunny and hot during our dinner starting at 6:30 pm in a July evening. More suitable to visit in a wet beach attire to accommodate for the heat.   As others have mentioned, the attitude shown by some staff is dismissive and borderline rude. It's clear they are so busy, they can't be bothered to make an effort/engage. 6pm table. Within 10 mins of arriving (we were 5 mins early) we had been reminded twice that we needed to leave by 8pm. Refused to accommodate requests/slight changes to menu meals (eg potatoes instead of chips). Anything other than fish is bog standard and very overpriced for what you get. The rest appears merely overpriced for Portugal... and like some other 'specialist' fish restaurants, pricing by the kilo is exorbitant and, at best, open to misunderstanding. There are a few fixed price menu items, eg monkfish kebabs, which were good. Having chatted afterwards to the son (who claimed to be mates with Jose Morinho) of the chap who started it c50 yrs ago, I'm not sure this gen has the right approach / raison d'etre / focus. Although the food we actually had was fine and the location has lovely beach views (and it is a nice beach), the overall experience was disappointing. O resto parece meramente caro para Portugal... e como alguns outros restaurantes de peixe “especializados”, o preço por quilo é exorbitante e, na melhor das hipóteses, aberto a mal-entendidos. Existem alguns itens de menu com preço fixo, por exemplo, kebabs de tamboril, que eram bons. Depois de conversar com o filho (que alegou ser amigo de José Morinho) do cara que começou há cerca de 50 anos, não tenho certeza se esta geração tem a abordagem / razão de ser / foco certa. Embora a comida que comemos fosse boa e a localização tivesse lindas vistas da praia (e seja uma bela praia), a experiência geral foi decepcionante.

  There was a mistake in our reservation (we booked for the restaurant but the staff booked us for the rooftop instead). Instead of apologizing, we were basically told “you don’t have a reservation here, not my problem, goodbye” which was pretty rude. When we finally got our table (on the rooftop and not in the restaurant), we were seated on the table that was the closest to the parking lot. We were finally moved to a different table after the waiter saw we were about to leave. Food was good but not worth the one hour wait for it. If felt like the staff was trying really hard but was overwhelmed and that the restaurant was understaffed overall. Prices are also on the high end. For this view/price/food quality I would definitely go somewhere else.   What a lovely restaurant right next to the beach. The atmosphere was great, chill and pretty laid back. We didn't have a reservation as we went at an odd time, but the place was still busy. So would recommend booking during busy season. We only had a couple of drinks and some appetisers but they were pretty good! I am sure the main courses would have been amazing, but we didn't try as we weren't really hungry. But the vibe is pretty chill so would definitely recommend.   I cannot say enough positive things about our evening at Rei das Praias. Our server Anna, was amazing. She made thoughtful recommendations, and was absolutely delightful. The meal was perfection from the appetizers to the main course. We were even treated to a surprise dessert as we were celebrating a milestone anniversary. The setting is lovely. Highly recommend.   Stunning location! You can choose between sitting inside or up on the deck, both offer great views. The menu has a wide variety of seafood and an extensive wine list.   Waited a long time to eat at this restaurant (as always full) and we can now see why they are so busy. Wonderful setting overlooking the stunning Praia dos Caneiros. We were greeted by Jose and treated with such warmth and friendliness. Fish was outstanding, fresh and grilled to perfection. Superb deserts (pistachio tiramisu and raspberry tart were the stars).   We (my family and I) went to the Rei das Praias for dinner and had high hopes for some great seafood. Unfortunately, we were truly disappointed by the quality of the dishes as well as the service. Overall the food was bland. As a starter we had grilled squid-kebab and fish ceviche. The squid was tough and chewy and partially burned. The fish ceviche was dominated by an overpowering flavour of onion. It was impossible to taste the fish and impossible to make out whether the chef had used lemon or lime juice to cook the ceviche. The lemon that was used as a garnish on the plate the squid kebab was served on was shrivelled and dry. It certainly wasn’t fresh and must have been sitting cut open for quite some time before it was placed on the plate by the kitchen staff. When we kindly asked for condiments for the french fries that were served with the squid, the waitress simply slammed a tube of mayonnaise on our table and left. For the main course we had ordered arroz de marisco. The rice was overcooked and lacked any flavour, as if it was cooked in plain water and not with fish stock. The watery liquid surrounding the rice tasted of plain tomato passata. It was the first time I ever had to refuse to eat a dish that I had ordered in a restaurant. We could simply not bring ourselves to eat the arozz de marisco and after having tried it, had to leave it. Overall an extremely disappointing experience. Quando gentilmente pedimos condimentos para as batatas fritas que foram servidas com as lulas, a garçonete simplesmente jogou um tubo de maionese em nossa mesa e saiu. Para o prato principal pedimos arroz de marisco. O arroz estava cozido demais e sem sabor, como se tivesse sido cozido em água pura e não com caldo de peixe. O líquido aquoso que cercava o arroz tinha gosto de passata de tomate simples. Foi a primeira vez que tive que me recusar a comer um prato que havia pedido em um restaurante. Simplesmente não conseguimos comer o arozz de marisco e, depois de experimentá-lo, tivemos que abandoná-lo. No geral, uma experiência extremamente decepcionante.

  If you are able to get a reservation here take it (no matter the time)! This is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. The view is amazing but the food and service are even better. The servers are top notch and super friendly. Then you get the food and it’s BANGIN’. It’s no wonder this place is booked for weeks. I couldn’t get a reservation initially and they called me back a few days later to let me know they had an opening. Fried calamari was amazing and both our main courses (seafood pasta and monkfish) were INCREDIBLE. Oh and the deserts were out of this world. I literally got a second desert. It was hot as hell inside and we were sweating all over at 9pm as there was no breeze coming in. The food took almost over an hour to arrive with no explanation whatsoever. We have been to many fancy restaurants in Portugal and received excellent impartial service(as it should be) but never felt so snubbed as in this place.   We must have had one of the best seats. Despite the rainy wealthier, it was beautiful. The cover was fantastic (the cheese was incredible) although not suitable for gluten free.   Not recommended for families. We came for lunch, 4 adults and one baby. According to their homepage the kitchen opens at 12. We arrived at 12 but it wasn't open. When I asked and referred to their homepage, the simple answer was "12.30". After that, we wanted to have some drinks at the lounge bar at least. We were offered 2 tables facing the rocks. As I asked about a table in the shadow, we were only offered 2 tables for 2 persons, both half in the sun. We didn't feel welcome at all and I don't recommend the restaurant for families.   Pains me to say, but we were very disappointed. Location is perfect. Staff attentive enough. Been to this very popular restaurant for over 15 years. But all good things come to an end! For a fish restaurant the choice was very lacking, with only 2 choices... dessert on the menu was not available. Prices have alwayse been on the high side but worth it, now its grossly overpriced for what we had. We'll leave it for those with more money than sense.   This place is beautiful, the view is amazing. We had lunch on the rooftop on a warn winter day so it was perfect. Food wise unfortunately not amazing. We don't mind paying extra but some things on the menu don't justify. Paying €19 for a vegetable carpaccio which was only a few slices of cucumber and a bit of tomatoes was outrageous. The serving of (dry) bread in a brown bag was also a bit strange to us. The quality of the food does not add up with the prices. Staff is really friendly and attentive though and wine was great.   Beautiful location. The restaurant is quite slow so not recommended for a quick visit. It's also very expensive for Portugal. We had seafood and rice which was very nice. Plenty of prawns, clams, mussels etc and was for the 2 of us at 56 euro. The squid was only ok. Presentation was excellent. Staff friendly and location awesome.   This view is just magical. Before going to the beach or right after a beach day, you can have a wonderful lunch/dinner. The staff is super friendly, you feel immediately welcomed there. The prices are a bit too high but I guess it’s the view and the fact that the restaurant was shown on a famous tv program. Overall I can recommend the restaurant and would come back.   Pretty bad, honestly. The tables are not all in the shade, so we got scorched on the first table. While we were being scorched, they forgot out drinks order. Luckily they relocated us to a table which actually had some shade. The food was pretty good, but they forgot my order of fries. I stead of just bringing it when I asked about it, they asked if I still wanted them and wanted to re-order (fries take like 3min, just bring them!) also, instead of apologizing, the waitress blamed the other one who forgot the order.   We got a window seat just in time to watch sunset. We ordered the ceviche for an appetizer, seafood rice for the main (loaded with delicious seafood!!), bottle of house white and the absolutely best carob and fig cake I've ever had!! The server joked with us and seemed to really enjoy his job. It was such a pleasant experience and we will definitely be back once the lockdown lifts.   One of the better restaurants on the Algarve for food. Their ingredients are pretty good, however the prawns that I had were not the freshest. Overall it is good and fresh, as most places are in Portugal. The dishes are tasty, more than the typical grill you find in most restaurants along the coast. The ceviche starter and gazpacho were highlights. The local sparkling rose is very agreeable too. I would recommend that you book as it get busy. I turned up and was told in quite a grumpy manner that there was no room. Yet when the host actually looked at her seating plan she found a table for us!?   Had a lovely meal with a friend 17 Jan. Excellent monkfish and thanks to our waiter for sharing some knowledge of Portuguese wines a love fruity choice from Antelego selections. Service was good, unobtrusive and thanks to the flexibility to share starters and puds we lingered over 3 hours.   Great location. Service was not very attentive. Rather rowdy bigger groups were dominating the restaurant. The ceviche starter was excellent!   A great experience This is my 2nd visit here and for sure not my last one. Beautifully located at the “Carneiros“-beach, we were warmly welcomed and enjoyed a professional service with lots of humorous touches. But you do not come only for the location and service, but first and foremost for the food. And this was truly excellent! It did take about 40 min or so before lunch was served, but the waiting was worth it. I certainly recommend their signature dish “Arroz de Marisco“, but the other choices were also very good. Pricewise rather on the upper end, but given the quality of food & service + location it was still reasonable.
