If you don't insist on Euros, the conversion rate adds 10% more in charges. Always insist on using the local currency for credit/debit card transactions. It will save you lots of money.   Lovely quaint place. Did not order food but it smelled delicious. Happy hour allows two drinks from a select menu for 7€.   Brilliant drinks, food and service. One of our favourite restaurants we visited while in Funchal. There is limited space but we were very lucky especially as it was still happy hour for the cocktails which we sampled a few of! The food was really different and tasty. The owner and staff were the friendliest we met our whole holiday. You can tell there is a lot of passion and care that goes in to every detail.   Ignor any bad reviews about this place!!! It is a very popular place with limited table space so book ahead if you want to avoid disappointment of no tables being available. I would highly reccomend a visit! The owner and staff are very friendly, helpful and acommodating. We felt right at home here and didn't want to leave!   We stopped here for a drink 2-3 times during our stay in Funchal. Great atmosphere and cocktails are good value. Staff are very helpful and informative about all sorts, well done to you all. Hidden away in a back street but well worth a visit, €7 for 2 cocktails during happy hour 5-7pm.   Happened to be walking by here and it was happy hour. 2 drinks for €7. Why not. We ordered some mojitos. I have never seen so much mint in a mojito. Couldn't taste of their was any alcohol in the drink. Definitely would not go there again. We also had the chorizo, it was ok , but not the best .   The MadCuba is located in a side street that I didn't find immediately 😅. The service was friendly and quick. The food was tasty, especially the braised chicken was really well seasoned and tender - it fell off the bone right away. The smoothie was a little too sweet for me, but all together, the food was still delicious. Unfortunately, I did not know that I had to light the ordered flan with rum, so I just ate it as it was.   It's absolutely terrible. 1 - it took the bar man 25 min to make 2 mojitos and a Cuba Libre. They had 20% occupancy. 2 - the bar guy and 3 waitress were taking shots, not surprised the food was garbage 3 - THE FOOD is microwaved. You can hear the bell going off after they heat the meal. 4 - Took them 45 min to microwave this food, considering they were busy getting wasted, I'm glad we got to eat at all.   Good selection of drinks. Perhaps could be a little stronger, but no complaints here. The food was great quality. Whilst the options available are perhaps limited (majority of mains same dish with either chicken, pork or beef) they were brilliantly executed with a nice side of rice, beans, sweet potato and homemade crisps.   The place is very nicely hidden in a quiet and discreet street in Funchal. To be honest in terms of atmosphere in the evening it is pretty nice and chill. We had cocktails here and I have to say they were very nice and tasted fresh. Authentic cuban Mojito with great flavors, fresh mint and Havana Club Rum. Very nice and not too sweet and the blend between the Rum, sparkling water and mint with sugar was delightful. The Pina Colada also was really great and authentic made with Coconut Cream which was very light. Topped with coconut crumbs inside again tasted like freshness in a good summer day after a long walk.   Pretty good Cuban food, I liked their Ropa Vieja. I'll come back and try more dishes. The thing I liked best was their cocktails. They mix a mean Mojito. It isn't heavy on alcohol (or it is very smooth rum) so you can taste the mint, sweetness and lime. They also have a happy hour cocktail special between 5 and 7pm. Two cocktails for 6 euro.   We wanted to have something different from the Madeira food on 4th day so I searched online and found this MadCuba. The review was good and we decided to go for it . We were not disappointed at all. The food was amazing and mojito far better than any mojito that I have had before. The staff was very friendly.   Absolutely love the food and drink here. The staff are excellent and let me tell you that you can find the restaurant if you walk down the pedestrian street which is beside the the small church. There is an arch on the right side of the road just walk through the arch and in front are some garages keep walking past them a few yards and you are there.Absolutely worth the trip.   We love Mad Cuba so much we’ve been about 6 or 7 times over the last few months. The food is exceptionally good, well made, carefully paired, and authentic. The cocktails are a steal at around €3-4 and are of the highest calibre. My favourite is the classic margarita (the best I’ve had in Madeira is from this place!). I get the vegetarian option which is also exceptional. The service is lovely and the place is very quirky.   I visited with my partner, the vibe of the place fit the name perfectly. Food and drinks were cheap but just because they were cheap did not mean they were not great! Food was nicely flavoured with a great portion size. I had a classic mocktail and I would say its one of the best I've tried, not too overly powerful with alcohol thar it tastes bitter but the right amount. 👌 Definitely would've come back if it wasn't for my last night in maderia.   A hidden little gem in Madeira that is a bit hard to find if you miss the steps. You absolutely need to book a table as every seat was taken when we came to our reserved table. The restaurant is really easy to contact through a WhatsApp call. They only offer five options (veggie/vegan, pork, chicken, beef and prawn needs to be preordered) but the were absolutely delicious. We tried the pulled beef and pork. Each dish came with rice, beans and some sweet potato chips. The pork came with a refreshing dressing. The beans were cooked perfectly and the meat was so tender.   After reading the reviews I had great hopes, but it has been a disappointment. The Chicken was good, but the minced meat as well as the beans were lacking any noticeable seasoning, everything was quite bland. My son had an ice tea which was grapefruity and quite sour, but I did find it drinkable. An upside was that it has been quite cheap at 22€ for three meals, water and the home made ice tea.
