  This is an amazing restaurant from someone who enjoys Indian regularly. Would advise people to not pay attention to people blaming ‘food poisoning’, it’s false and ill-informed (explanation later on). Onion bhaji to start which was so tasty, especially with the dips from the popadoms. We had the Chicken Karahi (delicious tomato based curry with lots of ginger and coriander, it’s also non-sweet) and had the chicken tikka masala (sweet curry with blended tomato based sauce). Garlic naan is also really good. Had the gulab jamun and the pistachio ice-cream for desert. Highly recommend what we got. The service was impeccable. Attentive and personable. This restaurant respects spice levels to their non-western meaning, which is a testament to this restaurant. Medium here is spicy back home. Chilli has ‘capsaicin’ - which has known laxative properties. So be honest with your spice preferences. The staff really do pay attention to this and they were very friendly with explaining.   Food was overall great. I stayed at a nearby hotel and went to this restaurant as well as Sabor de India. They give large, free pappars with chutneys which is nice. Their naans are great.   My friend and I had a fantastic dinner at Indian Palace. What stood out the most was the excellent service. The staff constantly circulates around the tables, making them always approachable. Many restaurants could learn from that. The food was fantastic; large, fresh, and delicious portions at a very reasonable price. We will definitely come back!   I wish my wife and I would have looked at some of the bad reviews in advance, because like other reviewers we both got really bad food poisoning from our dinner here yesterday. The staff was very nice and the taste was great so we didn't suspect anything, but we still spent the night and the following day in front of the toilet feeling completely miserable.   Absolutely the best Indian we have had. Not just in Madeira, but ANYWHERE. I can't recommend this place enough! Please try to book ahead as they are frequently booked up solid with zero capacity for walk-in's. We have had 2 dinners here, meals eaten include Tikka prawns for a starter, chicken shishlak and chicken madras for mains. Service is also professional, quick and nice :) I recommend Prawn Masala, Butter Chicken and Garlic nan. For Biryani - be careful with the spices.   I ate out every night in Madiera, but this was the only place I ate at twice. The food is excellent, portions generous and staff polite and attentive. I love Indian cuisine and this is as good as any I have had. We ate all over the Island and let me offer advice: Portuguese/Madieran food is well and good, but head uphill and away from the tourist spots on the waterfront (no matter how well they are rated). Go to somewhere you have to order by pointing at the menu and using your Portuguese travel dictionary if you want good, cheap eats. Anything "fusion" will be a disappointment. Eat your weight in passion fruit. Drink Brisa and Coral endlessly. Definitely eat at Indian Palace.   Wow! The food here is fantastic. I'm glad I followed the reviews and visited. We didn't book but were lucky to get a seat as it filled up quickly. As a starter, we enjoyed the poppadoms and 5 dips. I had the Chicken Karahi and it was gorgeous. My husband enjoyed the Jalfrazi and we both shared mushroom rice and the best peshwari naan I've ever eaten.   Fantastic Indian food!! Can't recomend it enough, definitely go here if you want to eat well for a night! Starters were samosa, chicken wings and onion baji. They also put down a sampler of different sauces and some crispy bread (papadam). Samosa was great, nicy and crispy outside, perfect blend of peas and spices inside. Chicken wings were good, bit of a wildcard, would recommend to try, especially dipped in their red spicy sauce! Onion baji was the star of the starters, loved it! For dinner we had garlic and chili Naan, chicken ticka masala and karahi paneer. Naan was nice and crispy on the bottom and had very good flavor, contender for best Naan I've had. The masala was good but I feel like they made it "white people spicy" even if we said we could handle it medium haha. Karahi was great as well, dipping the Naan in either dish was perfect! Karahi também foi ótimo, mergulhar o Naan em qualquer um dos pratos foi perfeito! Se voltarmos à Madeira mais uma vez, iremos revisitar!

  First time at this restaurant and it won’t be the last ! Food is fresh and lovely . Staff all friendly and smiling . The chutney tray is fantastic as were the vegetable pakora. For main we had chicken korma and a butter chicken with rice and the lightest nan , all washed down with a glass of red wine . Then homemade ice cream and a glass of madeira wine on the house ! Myself and my partner visited this restaurant earlier this week, amazing service, on ordering what we would usually order in the uk (lamb madras) we were asked if we liked really hot food as this madras was 25% hotter than ours would be in the uk, we thought we could handle it but the waiter gave us a sample to try on popadoms and omg thank god we were given the advice!   We have been to several of the Indian restaurants in the old town. First visit to the Palace. Lovely clean and fresh interior with a few outdoor balcony seats.. it is firmly old school menu. The UK revolution has yet to land. I love the challenge of a new dish / genuine Chef special. It is very good as a trad Indian food outlet. Sizzlers seem popular. I always suspect the chef would love to be let off the leash. Tima says gorgeous lamb and great naan...well done and crispy. Enjoyed the visit. Good value @ 43€ all in.   Wow. I can't say enough good things about Indian Palace. This family run business is a true gem of Madeira. Not only is the food absolutely amazing but the whole staff make you feel right at home and are so friendly. Abdul, Ali, Ahmad, and Zohan were so friendly and made us feel like family. We loved the food, environment, and family so much we had dinner there four nights in a row. We will dream of the food and bring our family and friends next time we're in Madeira. I had the Tikka Masala, Chicken Jalfrazi, and Chicken Karahi and all of the meals were top notch. The garlic naan was also superb and so fresh.   Very nice indian place in Madeira. Like in most comments, if you ask for Indian spicy you won't get it that spicy. We had to ask multiple times until it was there.   Eating at Indian Palace will be one of our most memorable experiences from our trip to Madeira. We stayed at the restaurant for about 2 hours and enjoyed every second of it. Excellent service from every staff member - they seem to be enjoying their time while talking to their guests if you're up to it, and making sure that you have a great experience. The food was fantastic. We had the mango lassi which was like drinking liquid happiness and love to put it into words. The Tandoori chicken was amazing, you get it served sizzling on some type of hot stone and the taste is incredible. The sauce for the tandoori chicken was great as well. Naan bread was delicious. I think you could pick anything on the menu and be really happy about your choice. Every flavor and ingredient seems to be managed to perfection. They'll probably ask you how spicy you want your food, but if not, you can just tell them how you'd like it. The price and value for the food is fantastic. We'll squeeze in another visit before we fly back home. It doesn't matter if you've tried Indian food before or not, I think it's a must-visit if you're on Madeira.   We went there on our first day in Madeira mainly because it came up on TripAdvisor-the food was excellent, no doubt, we love indian. BUT! The staff was very busy and the place quite full, although not up to its full capacity. I was not sure about my choice so I asked the waiter whether my combination was ok, he confirmed while nodding and looking around the restaurant and the other tables that needed attention. In his words: excellent choice! Of course my meal was overall too sweet because of the flavour combination. Upon finishing I told another waiter and he instantly shook his head saying that he would add something spicy or at least a garlic naan-fun fact-we did order the naan but it never came! However, surely we got charged for it! I am quite angry so I am just going to vent-lately, it seems that TripAdvisor is just a site where the reviews are written by companies PAID to write a good review. I am sick of going to places recommended by ‘ other travellers’ when clearly, people in this place do not really care about the experience. The food is delicious, but the service is in/out kinda style. Will not go again.   Visited on Wednesday 14th December after restaurant was recommended to us. Starting with the positives. Food was very nice, staff lovely, service great. Now for the negatives. The following day I was so ill with food poisoning that I had to remain in my hotel room, near to bathroom , while my husband had to seek medical help for me. I then had a look at previous reviews to discover two other people had complained of food poisoning in the last month. The restaurant's response was defensive suggesting they could not handle spicy food or got it from somewhere else. Well I had only eaten a light breakfast earlier and had nothing else to eat beforehand. Also we regularly eat Indian curries and enjoy them hot and spicy. Although my husband and I shared the food he had plain rice while I had the onion rice. Was my rice the cause of the poisoning? Is the rice reheated? This is a dangerous practice as rice grains can be a breeding ground for bacteria. My husband was fine by the way. I look forward to your response.   Amazing food for a good price! We had a goodbye dinner of a friend with a group of 6. The service was perfect: we got some papadums with great sauces to share from the house, and they checked if the people who ordered 'hot' were able to eat some special hot sauce they brought too. Edit: -I dont expect you to admit anything in public, and its unreasonable to conduct a full blown medical investigation on this, that we all know.   We read this in the reviews, but this is genuinely one of the best Indian meals we have had outside of India. Rich flavour and creaminess in every dish.   This has to be THE best Indian food we have ever had the pleasure of eating. The staff were very friendly and chatty. We hadn’t booked but they were very accommodating and fitted us in.   We've not eaten at the Indian Palace for 4 years and it's fantastic to see that their standards are still as good as ever. The onion bhaji are so moist and flavoursome. You can have pretty much any dish customised to your own taste and spice level. The cheese nan is probably the most cheesy nan I have ever had which is just amazing. As you can expect for the vest Indian restaurant in Madeira it can get busy at peak times so book in advance to avoid disappointment. Oh and the curtains are just the right colour, size and shape and do not deserve any reduction in the level of review.   Delicious Indian food. All the greats and more with something for everyone. Our group wanted to try multiple appetizers so the made a nice selection for us. For the main course we all had our own preferences so everyone had their own plate with the right spice level. In the end the price for the whole diner was really good as well.   Everything was perfect! The food and service were incredible. We arrived one hour before they closed but they were kind enough to take our orders. We were seated in the balcony with a really nice view. Fish vindaloo was our favourite and yes it is spicy! Cheese and garlic naans were also very tasty. They have the best mango lassi.   We'd been meaning to try this place for a while. It was a bit of a stroll from Funchal and they had signs up apologising due to being refurbished, but it was fine inside. We would have liked a seat outside, but there are not many so we sat inside. The staff were lovely, service was quick and they asked how spicy we wanted our mains. The poppadoms came with a nice selection of dips. We found that the Madras and Tikka Masala didn't taste how we are used to in England, but they were perfectly nice. We were scared it was not going to be a “real” Indian restaurant, more like tourist oriented and food for westerners palates, but it was very authentic food indeed.   I'm not a curry connoisseur but I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this meal, and the much more experienced curry fanatics with me shared how much they also loved this meal. The Chicken Tika starter was really tasty followed by a super creamy and enjoyable Tika masala main dish. I also found the nan bread to be very soft and tasty. It was very clear that the use fresh products are care alot about their food. We were given poppadoms on the house which everyone thoroughly enjoyed with a wide variety of dips to go along with them.   We were there pretty late, basically just one hour before closing time and although the staff was already preparing the reastaurant for the next day, we were served immediately and very politely.   The food was delicious and excellent value for money. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help I'd walked past a couple of times and the smells from the restaurant made me want to give it a go, I'm so glad I did. For my appetizer I started with poppadoms and a chutney tray. The waitress explained each from my mild to hot, and tbh this really helped and added to the enjoyment of the meal. I ordered lamb bhuna, with Kashmiri rice and a tandoori roti for my main meal. The lamb was tender and the spices were just right, not overpowering and complimented the gravy perfectly. The Kashmiri rice was sweet with cashews and sultanas and the roti was hot and soft. This was a well put together, well thought out dish.   Before i ordered my chicken Biryani, kindly asked them to cook it medium spicy. I explained what colour of rice i expect, to have it spicy but eatable. When they brought my meal it looked as it should and later taste also made me feel like in Mumbai. The prawn jafrezi was amazing, and the cheese naan was definitely worth it. My partner have chicken tikka masala and really enjoyed it.   This is a top notch Indian Restaurant. We visited it twice during our 2019 summer holiday and will certainly be back again in 2020 when we return to our beloved Funchal. I'm a creature of habit, so always get the same thing - chicken Madras. For a starter I would strongly recommend the onion bajees - they are just sensational. The staff are very friendly and always on hand to give advice and their recommendation. Definitely worth a visit. Back again to the Indian Palace in 2022 after years away due to Covid.   Fabulous!!! Must admit to being a bit unsure at trying Indian in Madeira but how wrong can you be. The food was outstanding and there was plenty of it. Wouldn't exactly class myself as an Indian Connoisseur but I've been to plenty in the UK and this place ranks right up there with the best of them. The waiters were excellent too. The onion bhaji were the best I have had in some time, not stodgy as they some times can be. I had a chicken Jalfrezi for a main which I can highly recommend. We chose a window seat.
