  My wife and I have had Indian all around the world, and this is probably one of the worst ones that we've been to. Service: the owner is great and is a very hospitable guy, making sure every guest was well attended. That being said, the waiting times were way too long. We ordered 2 mains (no starters) and that took more than 60 mins! The Food: we could tolerate the deficiencies in service of the food matched the online reviews. But the food was way below average. Everything was TOO SWEET AND WAY TOO OILY. To the point we didn't need to order dessert as we'd already had them for our mains. We ordered a chicken dish and a vegetarian paneer one with plain rice and naan. I would suggest you skip this one.   Uh…. where to start with this terrible Friday dinner in Madeira? I reserved a table online at 12:00 noon, the table was booked for 20:30, we arrived at 20:29 and all the tables were occupied, we were told sorry, we’ll wait until there are tables. (How can we wait? After 5 minutes, a man came and took an order for food. This is where the very strange wait for the order began, the salad was brought after 1 hour and 20 minutes!!! The main food arrived after 1 hour and 35 minutes. The food was mediocre and not worth its inflated rating; this establishment deserves a 4.0 rating and no more. A few days ago, we ate MUCH better Indian food in our neighborhood than here. I don't recommend it, it's a tourist trap!   Mr Siddiqui was incredibly humble and welcoming. The way he floats from table to table making conversation, and cracking jokes with each and every guest was endearing. The food was also good, the naan was authentic and had the necessary fluffiness on the inside and ever so slight crispness on the outside. The tandoori chicken karahi had a deep flavour and had a moorish quality. I would recommend this place even if it is to just share a laugh with the owner!   During our stay in Funchal we decided to dine here and it turned out to be a fantastic decision in the end. We ordered Chicken tikka, Paneer tikka masala, Pulav rice and Roti. Alongside the dishes they also serve the different chutneys and small salad. The green chilli chutney was out of the world :))). The food portions were good enough for two people and all the dishes were reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly including the owner who took time to visit every table and meet and greet his customers to get their feedback and sharing his stories which was a nice thing to see and experience.   We went here on a whim on a Sunday night. It was one of the only few places open that offered vegan options for my sister. This was literally the best Indian food I’ve ever had in my life. The chicken samosas had me wanting more! I can’t go back to regular Indian food around me. When I go back to Madeira, I will come back here.   The perfect choice for indian cuisine when you are chilling on Madeira island. My personal experience: I’m a tour manager and I was served with the most Delicious food to my group of 70 passengers.   This is an absolutely fantastic place, hard to put it in words. I've been eating a lot of indian food before, and been traveling for 6 months in India when time was young. This food is so delicious, flavourful and perfectly spiced that it almost brings a tear to my eye. The staff is very friendly and funny. You really feel at home when visiting, and the portions are big so there are no worries at all that you will leave hungry.   I have been to 100's of Indian restaurants across the globe. Sabor has the best Tandoori mixed grill, fried fish and palak soup. We ordered them extra spicy.   I can only agree with everyone else that this is definitely a place you shouldn't miss. Large portions of delicious Indian cuisine. If you are hungry then their set menus will remedy that without a doubt. Any main course will be enough for most people, maybe share some naan or rice with those you go here with. I would not say that the food is very spicy, so if you want a bit of heat ask for spicy or extra spicy, medium should be fine for most people.   Excellent food in lovely atmosphere. The staff are very friendly , attentive and helpful as to how hot a particular dish would be. There is a small climb to reach the restaurant bit it is well worth it.   An incredible culinary experience in Funchal. The food was made fresh with great care and incredible attention to flavors. Everything we had was awesome. Special shout out to the chicken jafrezi.   It's not right in front of the beach, but that didn't matter to us. We were there to have a great dinner and so we did! Taste was really good. Service was also very good and they were very friendly. I noticed that there was quite a lot more space between tables than I am used to in my country (the Netherlands). Definitely worth going!   We’ve been twice to this hidden gem during our vacation. The restaurant is located in a backstreet, while another Indian restaurant is located on the main road.   Absolutely LOVED IT...Sayed , the main man, along with his staff and excellent chef ( THE WIFE) were amazing. Authentic recipes with fresh spices added with the magic talented mixture of ingredients put me in HEAVEN. I have lived in Bombay (Mumbai) as a student and really appreciate the real thing !! Sabor has it. The premises was very busy..another good sign. I overheard people saying that it was the best Indian meal they ever ate. It took us 30 mins to walk there from our city central hotel ( The Vine) in Funchal and it was all worth it. My sister had a fabulous Chicken Tikka Bhuna. I had an excellent prawn Korrai. Initially , I ordered a Prawn Madras but it was way too hot. The owner changed my order immediately with no fuss or embarrassment. I really felt welcomed and that their ethos was in the clients happiness. My sister and I are only here for a few days but we will be back to Sabor before we leave.   This place was amazing! It’s not easy to find, and seems small and unassuming when you enter, but then you’re quickly and warmly greeted by the host.   Our holiday was only for 4 days and we have already been twice, it’s that good, I had the chicken Bhuna and it’s the best curry I’ve ever tasted.   Being senior citizens we cannot eat a lot . We shared a meal which was excellent and there was plenty for us . The staff were very friendly and they treat u s exactly the same as those having large more expensive meals.   After a few days of eating pretty bland food around Funchal we decided to try out an Indian restaurant. We were greated by very friendly staff and didn't have to wait long for our food, which was seasoned perfectly. You can order it to be pretty hot, too, if you so choose.   3rd visit 2nd time this year, food was excellent as usual, tried different starter basically India potato cake with spices very nice, also tried there rice pudding , it comes cold and tastes of almonds and is quite sweet delicious. Just visited again after a long break due to covid restrictions.   Fantastic food and service - excellent Indian dinner. We are both vegetarian and had many options. Dal tarka, malai kofta and muttar paneer - all very tasty. House wine was very nice, always encouraging when house wine is quality. Ganesh as the host was exceptional. Happy Ganpati festival. Would definitely recommend as top restaurant in Funchal.   Siddiqui and Theresa are great. The food is excellent. Sometimes too much on a plate!! We've been there multiple times. Yes, if they're really busy, you do have to wait. However, rather than turning us away the owner askes us politely to wait so he can check with the chef. The staff was patient with us as we decided what to eat. There was no rushing.
