  It's a small corner restaurant but I got weak in my knees the minute I walked in because of the smell. Fair enough, I had a long day and was starving, so it probably smelled extra good. I think I had the "confused Hawaiian" Burger 🍔 with fries and it was absolute delicious. It was honestly a bit of a weird combination at first but the taste was fantastic and I would definitely go back.   Was really craving a burger so decided to check this place out. The workers were really nice. The place is a bit small but i think they have most of their work from uber eats, because we could see that they kept getting orders. They were so busy that our food took a while (no one else was sitting there, all the orders were for delivery). We ordered the xl fries with the onion rings and they gave us that first. They were really good. The fried were thin like i like them and the onion rings were the best i’ve had, not soggy at all. When the burgers finally arrived they were massive. And delicious.   Rather disappointing experience given the 4.7 rating on google. We ordered the confused hawaian and a sticky cowboy, both of which are composed of two smashes patties. From my understanding, a smash burger should have crispy bits; ours had no crispy bits and was actually still raw in the middle. The bun was also a store bought burger bun, not brioche at all; it was drenched in sauce and mushy all around. We couldn't finish our burgers.   After reading great reviews about Illicit Burgers, I thought I'd give them a go. I was not disappointed. Delivery time was quick, made by a really pleasant chap (Sayful). It came from their place in Lagos, to Vila Galé Hotel (Meia Praia). As with previous Uber orders, I was anticipating a 'barely warm' meal by the time I got it back to my room. This was not to be ! But still, I ran down the corridors of Vila Galé like a giggling schoolgirl and burst into my room to devour this highly acclaimed fayre. After ravenously ripping open the paper bag to get at my quarry (namely, my fries first), I noticed they were still hot...nom ! So, I immediately started bullying those. Then...there it was, in all its majesty; The Sticky Cowboy....dang ! So, I set about it with zero remorse. First thing I noticed was how heavy it was...and how hot it was ! So, to cut an already too long story short; I had to undress before I ate it, and when I came back to what was left of the fries, they were still hot AND perfectly salted. Oh...the burger itself ? Gotta be the best burger I've ever had. This looked twice as good as the pics. Damn, it was good...   Went for a solo walk around the town of Lagos. It was my last night before heading home. Walking the streets off the beaten track and stumbled across - Illicit Burgers.   The location is easy to miss and tiny in the inside. While waiting I noticed that most of their business was through Uber. Which makes sense once you try the burger. Their hamburgers are the reason I don't eat hamburgers. They taste exactly like they do in America. Which means super delicious, juicy, fatty and cheesey. As I was eating it my mouth told me to eat more but my heart was begging me to stop. I tried the Nacho Burger assuming the nachos would be on the side, nope. They weren't even nachos, they were Doritos placed on top of the meat and then crushed with the bun, very American.   Fantastic tasting Beyond Burger in Lagos Portugal. After searching for Beyond Burgers in the area we found that Illicit Burgers let's you switch out their regular burger for a Beyond Burger and we did, what a fantastic burger. We both ordered a Simple Chuck with the Beyond Burger on a brioche bun with American cheddar and pickles and the secret burger sauce.   If you want a juicy burger or chicken sandwich that will literally melt in your mouth then this is the place. It’s a small dinning area and has a dive bar type feel which adds to the experience.   The burgers were very tasty, but... only after a 40 minute wait for take away, and of the 2 burgers and one side we ordered, we discovered one burger was incorrect and the side was missing (not even on the order), despite the server having confirmed all 3 items multiple times when ordering. Not willing to wait for a replacement burger given the prior wait and we'd have to walk back since we didn't find the error until we arrived and unwrapped the burgers. The fries and onion rings were undercooked, maybe because they rushed to replace them? So overall, problematic, but the actual burgers were delicious, even the one they got incorrect.   Probably the best burger in Lagos. We were staying close by and this place constantly had delivery vehicles stopping by to take deliveries. The burgers are smash burgers and they are HUGE! The place is really small, so taking out is almost a must. However, they have a special alcoholic slushie each day of a different flavor. So, that draws you a bit to coming in to pick up yourself :). This is the best burger I've had in Portugal so far but the search continues!   Wow..Just wow. I have tried a few burgers from overhyped burger joints in Lagos and felt underwhelmed. I just couldn't see what the fuss was.
