  Cute restaurant but let down by the poor quality of the food and the apathetic service. Fish not particularly fresh, everything over salted but still underseasoned and extremely overpriced.   We visted the restaurant on Saturday's evening and we absolutely loved it. It is a traditional Portuguese restaurant that offers great variety of dishes from seafood to red meat. We ordered mainly seafood, including lobster and they were all delicious. The restaurant offers a beautiful local atmosphere. We sat outside and despite the weather not being the warmest, we were comfortable as there were heaters. Watching the buzzing street, and enjoying the food was great so I definitelly recommend the outdoor seating if possible. It is busy so make a reservation in advance.The highlight of the evening was Alvarinho, who served us. His service was amazing.   We were recommended this place as a very local, lovely spot to visit. We weren’t aware of its Michelin recognition, but unfortunately, we left quite disappointed. Perhaps it depends on what you order, but the food left us wondering what all the rave was about. We tried a few starters and the Seafood and Rice Pot, but it really wasn’t anything special. The wine was nice, but the value for money isn't there. We would have at least expected good service, but the waiter barely said anything. It's sad because it's a really cozy place.   WOW!!!! Alvarinho was our server and became our friend. The level of professionalism was top notch. After trying almost every restaurant in Lagos this is the best. The fish is fresh and prepared perfectly also the Portuguese steak was out of this world good. If you want to go somewhere with warm service and amazing food go here.   We were there on Jan. 2, when only one cook was in the kitchen -- so, in fairness, we may not have had the best meal ever served here. But after couvert, oily soup, bacalhau carpaccio (the best dish, which included pomegranate seeds and great flavor), an avocado-pear salad, a tremendously bland roasted bacalhau with potatoes, and an egg pudding "molotov" that tasted of nothing but raw brandy, my dining partner and I were genuinely mystified by the Michelin Guide's listing (particularly since it was so close to truly impressive kitchens). I typically don't write reviews unless I've had a terrible experience -- and this wasn't an awful meal, just a disappointing one. The service was excellent, but the food is not worth a return visit.   Amazingly good quality restaurant in the midst of the tourist strip of Lagos. We were lucky to be seated without prior reservation. It was well worth it!   Very disappointed by my visit to this Michelin Star restaurant, and surprised they have one. The service was terrible. I was dining alone, and while that should not be a factor, I think it was. I ordered water 2 times, and finally got it after my main course was served. I was not provided a napkin until I asked for one, again, after my main course was served, and they took my fork and knife with my starter, and never replaced it, even after they served my main course. They were extremely rushed, not aware of the needs is their customers (and the needs were very basic!!). The food was equally as disappointing. I order tuna cviche, which was ok. Was nothing great. I got the sea bass fillet, which was supposed to be de-boned, but was full of tiny fish bones as I ate it. It was pretty flavorless. The crème brûlée was at least good! They nailed that!   Tried getting in 3 nights in a row. No luck! On our last night we got lucky and walked in for 2. Absolutely amazing experience. Had the stuffed crab, cataplana, and rack of lamb. Everything was amazing and decently priced. I would highly recommend. Ask for Rubin, he made the whole experience better and even gave us a tour of their amazing cellar.   For us the food was very hit or miss. The bread and olive oil was okay, but the oil was pretty bland. The onion soup was awesome, but the bread soup was basically just garlic. I'm pretty sure I smelled horrible after that. Finally we had the cous cous dish and the tofu. The couscous was good, the tofu and rice were pretty horrible. It was described as a soy sauce dish, and I'm pretty sure that's all it was because it reminded me of when I first tried making an asian sauce. Shame on me I guess for ordering asian though.   Nicely decorated interior. The main dishes were great, especially the chicken cooked in clay pot, the pork cheeks with sweet potatoes and the sea bass. The service was average, the waiters were polite but forgetful for instance didn’t bring the butter for our bread until we asked for the second time and by then most of the bread was eaten. The prices for the mains were fair but some items not, e.g butter was €4.50. It’s a nice place but I don’t think you are missing out if you don’t get a chance to eat here. No hint that being 8 minutes late would result in not having a table, and having to wait in line for an hour. Worse yet, he didn't immediately tell us that he wasn't arranging a table, wasting more time. He asked that we give him space, suggesting he would work something out. After another 5 minutes and no word, we asked again. He restated the earlier: you were too late. And then it required us to explicitly ask whether that meant waiting in the line for a table. He said yes. Very frustrating experience. Food and vibe seemed great. I'm sure they are. But this unprofessional experience deserves to influence the rating. A simple "it must be within exactly 15 minutes" would have done the job. Or simply making an accommodation. There is usually someone out front playing live music which added to the atmosphere. A bit oily but really delicious 😋 The oysters on ice is okay, but i feel the oysters from fresh seafood market is fresher and tastier. This is not a dish I recommend. There are no kids menu here but there is spaghetti on the menu that kids really liked :) The one thing that struck me is the price, it’s so reasonable!!! The fresh seafood is ordered by the whole fish by weight at 40 euros per kilo or more . Didn’t try that one, and not sure how much that would cost. The fish dish we got is 18 euros — it’s a steal!!!!!! Almost want to go back and get that for dinner! No wonder this is the most popular restaurant in town - definitely come here to eat!! The salad was good, but it's pretty difficult to mess up a salad. The crab was awful! First of all, it was cold and I expected a hot dish.   Horrible experience and I waited 40 minutes in line for this. I watched both servers outside give great service to everyone else. I thought I was being pranked? They brought out the fish meat cuts for the customer to inspect. I didn't get that service... the people who sat way after I did got the food ahead of me. All I asked for was a steak and soup. I would have never written a review as I don't like doing that to any business but then my med rare steak arrived almost cold and it was rare. I later asked the waiter for a better knife as I thought the issue was the knife not cutting properly. He brought it back quickly. But by this time the steak was totally cold. I had tried to get his attention several times and he never even looked at my table. At some point I thought the other waiter was my waiter. I finally confronted him and I asked why are you ignoring me. I had seen him give excellent service to the other people. He said it was not his intention and I said don't take the steak off my check I don't want it to be about money but please bring me a water and the check. He brought me the check with no water he wanted to be an rude one more time? I have never felt so belittled in my entire life.   My mother and husband and I dined here last night on the recommendation from some diehard fans. The decor is rustic, white walls, wooden beamed ceilings, and a large collection of beautiful plates adorn the walls. We were seated inside, which was well ventilated.   We took a day trip to Lagos and wanted a nice seafood lunch for our penultimate days holiday, we chose well. Firstly the service was outstanding, the waiters were helpful, welcoming and really looked after the four of us. We had the grilled garlic prawns, the goat in red wine which came in a terracotta pot and two seafood rice which came in an even larger clay pot bubbling away as they brought it to the table. All of the food was delicious especially the goat which was tender, rich in flavour and very lean. The seafood rice did come with crab/lobster portions in, crackers supplied, so a little messy but the restaurant provided cotton bibs for our seventeen and eighteen year olds to wear 🤣 The whole meal came to around 120 Euros, it was well worth the money.   We came here randomly and enjoyed it very much: very nice service, great seafood (I had the mussles) and a water spray system installed: great to freshen up the air at a hot day. My boyfriend took the vegan tofu plate and it was also remarkably delicious. We would recommend to go there, but be careful: many tables were reserved, we were lucky to come by while they were opening the restaurant :-) only 30 minutes later, almost all tables outside were taken.   We went last night and stood in the wait line. Wait was probably 15 minutes and man was it worth it. The food was amazing!! I got the sole grilled, my husband got the prawns.   We had a tasty lunch there. Cod was really tasty and the salad too. During that time, only the terrace was opened. Not clear why, as many people wanted to eat but left because of no empty seats. Our table for some reason had no table cloth which felt strange. Waiters were friendly, but it was not always clear who is in charge / whom to communicate with.   I booked a couple of months ago for my partner and I. We were seated outside as requested, which was lovely. The waiter who seated us was very friendly, however he did not continue to serve us. For the rest of our time, it was nearly impossible to get the attention of the wait staff, and when we eventually did we were treated like an inconvenience. We were so friendly and polite, so it was very confusing why we were being treated this way, when the tables around us were receiving 5 star service. The waiter brought us a bottle of wine, but didn’t open it and it took 15 minutes to flag someone down to open it. The tuna ceviche was papery. It took four dismissed attempts to order dessert.   Shrimp cocktail was awful - overcooked shrimp with bland rhode island sauce, topped off with som red coloured water to make it look like a childs meal on a cheap charter cruise. The pork was poorly cooked and the sweet potato mash tasted.. old… No one in our company enjoyed their meal and the service was utterly terrible. Staff were rude, negligent and stressed. When asking for wine reccomendations the waiter did not even reply. As I am writing this I have been waiting for over 15 minutes for my check despite trying to get the staffs attention. The only positive ingredient in this underwhelming experience is the wine I chose. Do not come here.   Very good food and portions although the scallop gratin was a bit disappointing for the price. We had the prawn and clam cataplana and the chicken curry - both were a hit.   Went because the restaurant was on the Michellin guide and it was pretty good! The interior is really pretty, with a very cool wine cellar in the basement. We didn’t have a reservation but we’re able to get a table around 9PM without one. To start we got the French onion soup and the crab salad. The soup was incredible. We also really liked the crab salad but I felt like it needed more crab. For entrees I got the Chicken in Pottery Pot and my boyfriend got the Curry Chicken. The value is insane, the portions are big with lots of meat. My dish was pretty delicious, it had mushrooms and ham in it as well. I had a hard time finishing the entire thing, I feel like it would be good to split with another person. My boyfriend wasn’t that crazy about the curry chicken, the rice was really good and the portion was good too though. Overall it was a really cool experience and we enjoyed it a lot! Only reason for four stars is because the tables were quite crammed outside and there weren’t many options for 2 people… most of the tables are round for 5-6 people so tough to fit a bigger group or to accommodate couples.   Don't order the scallops au gratin for a starter! I received one scallop in a shell covered with a huge amount of sauce all and 2 prawns on the top.The reason that there was so much sauce I believe was to cover up the fact that there was only one scallop buried way beneath! The exact same thing also happened with another diner while I was there. I mentioned it to the waiter before asking for the bill and was told that this was 'normal' to have one scallop for that dish.The dish cost 12 euros and the restaurant did not take any money off.The mussels was a fair portion and the rest of the mains and desserts seemed fine as well but it did put me off this restaurant big time.   We've had grilled sole and sea bass and it was amazing! Very fresh and tender, so were the vegetables and potatoes. The house wine was also great, I would strongly recommend that. Not impressed at all with the starters we've ordered, which was the chorizo on fire, olives and bread, as they were all without taste. We'd go again to try some other stuff.   We love your restaurant and have booked it twice in last month, however each time we arrived we were told that we were not on booking list, very embarrassing as they were both special occasions. The food was excellent when we eventually got a table sorted out. I'm now weary of booking again, nothing worse than inviting people to your restaurant and being embarrassed in front of all the other diners. Who were all watching with interest. I think we maybe didn’t order the best dishes, but our experience wasn’t great here, and I wouldn’t recommend it, particularly in an area with such great and tasty seafood options.   Sadly I’ll have to leave a negative review. I was looking forward to coming to this restaurant, as it’s always busy, the food looks good and it has a Michelin mention. I booked on the day and all went smoothly. I ordered the shrimps with garlic and I’m afraid to say they were tasteless. Not sure what went on in the kitchen l, but I venture they were boiled and the sauce was added later, meaning that the flavour wasn’t very intense. I also felt that the shrimps weren’t very fresh either. Unfortunately, I was right, as I spent the morning in the toilet with some food poisoning. I won't discuss about waiter's indifference (I think it can be defined as arrogance) or the fact that the table was continuously moving.   An ok restaurant in Lagos city center. Quite touristic, which is natural given its location, but not the best option for typical Portuguese food in town.   Easily my favourite restaurant in Lagos. My fiance and I ate there pretty much every other night. The food is delicious, the wine is exceptional and the staff are so friendly and welcoming.   Absolutely incredible. We visited following their receipt of the Michelin plate and I can see why they were awarded it. The muscles and sea bass were incredible, the wine was delicious, and the service was proper. The bill for two, including a half bottle of wine, was just €38.50.   This is definitely the best restaurant in Lagos. The location in the main pedestrian road is great but the hidden terrace is even better. I tried the Cataplana de Peixe and it was very very good. The Espadarte com molho de Alcaparras os fantastic. The fish soup, vegetables soup, the tarte algarvia and the torta de amêndoa are incredible. The couvert is great as well. You must try it.   I am so disappointed in the service and food. My 82 year mother spends the majority of her time here at her holiday home in Lagos. I have been coming her for nearly 20 years...today she wanted to treat me so brought me to Don Sebastião. If I can give any advice...there are so many amazing restaurants in this area, with wonderful staff, give this place a miss...it just not worth the money ! To give you an example....we were told we had to order as the kitchen staff were finishing...I was struggling to find something as I only eat white meat (I appreciate this is difficult in Europe) anyway, we were told to choose... ten minutes later they seated another couple and served them...another 10 mins and they seated another couple and served them too!!! I was fuming now as I’d rushed reading the menu... When they cleared our plates I asked the waiter why we had been rushed...he just said the kitchen staff decided to stay... Wish I’d known, I could have read the menu! I can only say that the service was poor, really poor! To be fair Mum enjoyed her fish and she did say it was excellent; my tofu was tasteless and cold....I can only describe it as inedible. I seriously recommend that you avoid this restaurant, there are so many fabulous places, with fabulous staff and delicious food.   Great restaurant. Felt very authentic and the food was amazing! I got the grouper fish and it was perfect. Desserts were incredible too, very typical Portuguese cuisine would definitely recommend.   We ordered 3 couverts: instead of the carrots we ordered we got olives, the bread was stale and the supposedly "grilled" chorizo turned out to be flambéd on our table where the server left it, without explanation, to burn for 10 minutes, with no way of putting out the fire without it becoming a fire hazard. It resulted in the chorizo becoming charcoaled and only tasting of burnt alcohol, rather than sausage - totally inedible. For the main dishes we got an empty warm plate, that by the time the dish arrived was cold. The main fish dishes we took were fairly good, but by no means exceptional. The supposed fillet was full of bones. It's clear they try to make the restaurant look fancy, which the prices reflect, but the execution fails horribly. There are many places in Lagos with better food, prices and service.   Excellent. Didn't manage to get a table on Saturday. But Monday at 7pm was much easier. Waiters were friendly and polite considering how busy it was there. Food was excellent. We ordered shrimps and prawns which were great. The personal was also very friendly and helpful. The food was very quick done which was great, because we where very hungry. Não sei se o proprietário concorda com esse tipo de tratamento dado aos turistas que conseguem gastar algum euro num bom jantar e não procuram apenas “salada de frango”. Lugar superestimado. Existem muitos mais restaurantes decentes em Lagos. Eu fortemente não recomendo.

  Really enjoyed the avocado and shrimp starter and the sea bass filet for the main course! They have an excellent selection of wines. We booked a table for two a few hours in advance and by that time it was almost fully booked for the evening. The staff was quite busy and quick but did however make time to go through the different choices of wine and food upon us asking.   We came back on our second evening at Lagos, because we liked the food so much. We had both a tuna steak and some other fish dishes...all very good! Friendly staff - the are always well visited, being early (17:30) or reserve a table is a good idea. The prices are more than ok for the quality and the service, so I can just recommend it for a meal! :) (Traduzido pelo Google) Voltamos na nossa segunda noite em Lagos, porque gostamos muito da comida.   Great seafood restaurant - one meant for a fancier occasion. Staff were very nice. One of the defining features of the restaurant is your waiter showing you the fish to help you decide; however, as we ordered too quickly, we never afforded that opportunity.   I can't fault our experience. I had one of the fish of the day which was fresh tuna. Lightly cooked (my request ) with an onion and tomato sauce. The chosen piece of fish was brought to the table first to approve the price and size. My partner had pigs cheeks with sweet potato mash. We have eaten this often but have never tasted it prepared like this. Subtle but beautiful taste of cinnamon spice. We were asked if we wanted the couvert to start ( usually some bread and tuna paté is plonked on the table only to find that it cost €3 each ) Included with the bread , olives, liver patè and carrots was a flaming bowl of chorizo in grappa. Sensational! We shared 6 plump oysters as our starter and could barely keep our eyes open for the 10 minute uphill walk home. We shall return to this restaurant. Perguntaram-nos se queríamos que o couvert começasse (normalmente coloca-se um pouco de pão e paté de atum na mesa e descobrimos que custava 3€ cada) Incluído com o pão, azeitonas, patê de fígado e cenoura estava uma tigela flamejante de chouriço em grappa. Sensacional! Nós compartilhamos 6 ostras rechonchudas como entrada e mal conseguíamos manter os olhos abertos durante a caminhada de 10 minutos para casa. Voltaremos a este restaurante.

  Highly recommended this place. A lovely upscale restaurant with very good food, polite & professional staff and a reasonable price list. It's clean and very popular so expect a small wait if you don't reserve a table. Food is delish & presented very well and the place itself is located right on a busy pedestrian street so there is lots of people, hustle, music & atmosphere to enjoy if you decide to sit outside. 10/10 on food & service though.   If I could give this six stars I would. Great outside seating for people watching. Cold beer and a good wine list. But the mussels are to die for. Worth the trip alone. Great service too.   Very nice restaurant but a bit expensive! It's a usual spot that I go for dinner every year and never had a bad meal. Don't be afraid to go for the seafood or to get some oyster (let your wallet be afraid for you). The steak with two sauces is one of my favorites and you can also count on getting fresh fish.
