  Amazing Portuguese food!! We had the seafood rice for 2 people (they only serve it on Sundays) but it could easily feed 4 people. It was delicious and flavourful. The athmosphere was lovely and the staff even more so! They were very kind and attentive and had great suggestions! I highly recommended the seafood rice!   Make sure you have cash as they dont take card. Make sure you are patient as the wait is long in the summer months. The seafood dishes were excellent (Octopus Salad, Calamari, Grilled Sea Bass).   Made a last minute decious to go here for lunch and we were VERY happy with that decision, The place is closed Monday, and otherwise open everyday of the week. We tried going on Sunday but we didnt reserve, and they didnt have lunch space. The portions are big, lots of garlic and flavor. We had lamb, the famous algrave shrimps and some sort of white fish of the day which was fried. The lamb came with the best beans we have eaten in a long time, we order a HUGE portion to go after we had eaten. The desersts, there are many to see in the window, were also very very very delcious. The staff was sooo friendly and accomadating, they all spoke great english even though the place seemed to be filled with mostly locals. We are going back today, and I know we wont be dissapointed. They open not a minute before 12:30 and stop serving at 15 and start cleaning up at 15:00. We came to the restaurant at 14:00 and they suggested we order quickly as the kitchen wanted to stop working. Keep that in mind when going there for lunch.   The soup was very filling, more thickened than average and got chickpeas in it. Tomato salad and grilled squid with steamed vegetables were fine, although the squid was a bit too salty for me.   If you want real Portuguese food this is the place. I’ve been going here for 15 years ever since I was small and this place never disappoints. Fish here is the best . My favourite is the kebab. This place is not as touristic since it’s not in the centre. The people are very nice. The only thing is that it’s quite full so you need to reserve a table before. You might need to wait 30 mins for food but it’s so worth it !! And it’s like that in all real Portuguese restaurants so it’s normal here.   What a gem of a restaurant!! We’ve enjoyed everything from our evening here. The food is amazing and the people are very friendly. We have asked the gentleman who served us to recommend some dishes which resulted in a delicious fish, picaña and an amazing Portugese dessert pie. Loved it!! My husband had a coakroach on his plate, and despite to be an awful situation that nobody wants to go through, they offer to cook another plate but never really apologize properly or had the responsible person talking with us. They acted like it didn't happen...We felt like we didn't want to make a big thing but after we left the restaurant,with nobody talking with us or properly apologising, we feel that it was to serious to ignore like they did.   Had a great lunch here. Service was good staff so helpful. Table of 7people all served together. We stayed well after closing but they never made us feel in the way.   I went to this restaurant because the old town was too crowded and this place had great reviews. I went for dinner at peak hours. The server was really busy and the service was slow. I also felt the greeting wasn't friendly? Perhaps because I'm a foreigner. The food was just okay, I ordered grilled squid and soup. The soup was good but the squid was a bit chewy.   Best Fish we’ve ever had in our entire lives! Coming from people who grew up by the coast! The service: a family run business with the nicest and fun staff. We felt so welcomed and the service made for a great evening. The food: we ordered the shrimps, tomato salad, sea bass and sea bream (both main dishes came with boiled potatoes and steamed veggies). The shrimps were cooked in a buttery garlic sauce which we couldn’t get enough off. Both the fish dishes were cooked to perfection-great flavour and texture. And we came back two nights later for the same feast! We got clams instead of shrimps. The location: really lovely streets and buildings around to make the walk to or from the restaurant more memorable. We can not wait to come back here next time we’re in Lagos.   Just wow! We stayed one week in Lagos and this was definitely the best food we had! Doesn’t look like much but the food is the reason for a good restaurant and not the nice decoration.   This review is after my fourth trip here, third time for the seafood rice. This place is packed on Sundays with local residents and just a few tourists. The food is simple, yet beautifully prepared. Many places and people in the service industries in Portugal seem to loathe and despise tourists. That IS NOT the case here. The waitstaff treat tourists very kindly and as my Portuguese is limited, it is nice that most speak English very well. They are warm, welcoming and friendly If you go on a Sunday, you MUST get the seafood rice, it is pure perfection.   We live nearby and whenever we think about eating here the place is mobbed with people waiting. We finally decided to go and what a treat! First the waiters are lovely, very professional. Next, the outdoor area is brilliant, especially on a sunny winter's day. Finally the food is simply divine. Being a Sunday we had to have the house specialty, seafood rice, (arroz de mariscos) and a lamb dish - perna de borrego, both amazing. The mint sauce with the lamb was out of this world, honestly. Super house wine (red) and the white port we had at the end was almost like a dessert wine we've had many times in Australia - like a botrytis - very very tasty.   This place is a true gem. We got the famous seafood rice (which they only have on Sundays) for two people. It was 30€ and so worth it! The taste was amazing, the seafood was fresh with a good variety of crab, mussels, clams and shrimp and a generous amount of rice. We paired it with the house white wine, which was delicious. It also had a photo of the restaurant on it which was cute! For dessert we had the bolo de lagos and an espresso, both were fantastic.   A very local experience plus one of the best meals I've had in Portugal! I came here at 6pm to reserve a table for later the same evening and apparently the restaurant was fully booked until 9pm! It didn't look much but it was a sign of good food. Me and my boyfriend ordered grilled squid and a swordfish. Both were delicious! My boyfriend is not a seafood lover but he said that the grilled swordfish was the tastiest fish he's ever had! The food is served with potatoes and vegetables. We also ordered a jar of green wine which resembled cava and prosecco but better! The prices of the main dishes were very affordable (10-13€ per portion), however, we were charged 4.20€ for the bread, olives butter, and cheese, while we only ate the olives and bread. The menu specified the prices of these sides separately and we thought we'd be charged for only those that we'd eat. Unfortunately we were charged for all of them and that's why this review is getting 4 instead of 5 stars. I'd recommend asking in advance about the couverts or just skip the olives&bread and order an actual side that you would enjoy much more.   This was one of the best restaurant we were in Lagos and the surroundings. If you want to eat some traditional food, from a local restaurant then this is the place. Huge portions for a normal price. The service is good, even though they are having a lot of tables to serve :) People are waiting outside, for a free table. We did that... so make sure you call for a reservation. I had Picanha, which contains some grilled veal with rice and chips. My friends had Sea food with rice, which is available only on Sundays.   Been coming here for years, so have my parents and friends. Best to go earlier in the day and book a table or be prepared for a wait for dinner. The fresh fish is great, with the portions being enough you have to roll the family back out the door after. My usual is the pork which is good enough to make it a stop i make every visit. Had I only eaten the lamb I would rate this 5 stars. It was cooked and seasoned well and came with a side of rice, soup and french fries. It was enough to serve two people. However the clams were a huge upset. They were cooked and seasoned perfectly but more than 1/3 of the clams had enough sand in them to make the experience horrible. Maybe they were going through too many clams to have enough time to prep them properly for all the orders but that is no excuse to serve gritty clams.   My husband and I tried to have dinner here twice and only managed to get a table once -- that is how popular Os Lambertos is among the locals. Naturally we had high expectations, which were unfortunately not met. The serving sizes are generous, which is probably why people dine here in big groups, however the food is not special. We were particularly disappointed with the grilled sardines as it lacked salt and could have been grilled a bit more. We tried the same dish at other local restaurants in the area and found those to be better. Tip: Should you decide to try this resto, book in advance or come right before they open. Service is slow and gets frantic since they're always packed.
