We were extremely satisfied with our stay. Very friendly and polite staff. We even had an opportunity to check-in earlier. We really appreciated that after 6 hours underway to a hotel. Room and towels were clean, without any signs of use. Breakfast was really good and we had many options to choose from. The restaurant was also excellent, delicious food and great serving. - Only pillows were very thin and uncomfortable. But it was the only one disadvantage. Spent 3 lovely nights here in late October. The location was perfect for us. Really enjoyed being so close to the beach. It is a bit further from town. I wouldn't call the Carvi Beach Hotel, a hotel it is more like a hostel. The staff are very nice. There is no were to have a drink or coffee you can get a takeaway drink but you will have to drink it in your room🤔 They use an huge amout of bleach and the hole place stinks of bleach which make you feel sick. Didn't like the breakfast the food just looked as if it was thrown together, so stoped going up for breakfast after the 3rd day. Our room was nice, clean and modern but basic. I need iron and ironing board so I went to reception to get them only to be told we can give you an iron but no ironing board you have to iron on the bed and you are told to make sure you don't burn the bed. The beach that is just beside the hostel its a beautiful beach and there is a local bus that is very handy for getting around. my boyfriend and i are traveling the country by car and thought this place would be great to add as a stop, we were wrong. if you book a room at this hotel and land a room on the third floor consider yourself unlucky. we stayed in room 302 and got woken up every morning at 7:00am sharp to the sound of the breakfast bar above us. this included slamming doors, sliding tables and chairs, loud thumping and yelling by staff members and many loud bangs. this was also the last thing we heard before bed every night around 10-11:00pm. if you’re looking to get any sleep or peace in your 400$ hotel room i would suggest booking somewhere else. We stayed at the Carvi Beach Hotel from September 27- October 7th. We found the hotel and our room clean and well maintained. All the staff , the housekeepers , the breakfast staff and reception extremely friendly. They went out of their way to help. I had the pleasure of dealing with Silvia who was always friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet had a decent selection of hot /cold items. We never left the breakfast buffet disappointed. The view from the breakfast view is breathtaking. The proximity to the beach literally minutes , 20 min walk to old Town Lagos , or a €4 taxi ride. I would definitely stay at the Carvi again. We stayed here for 3 nights and we were unimpressed. At check in the staff seemed annoyed to help us, you had to pay for cutlery to use in the room, and a 10euro deposit to rent a single towel. We had an ant infestation in our room every day, the bed was uncomfortable, and although the room was updated it was poorly done. The included breakfast was nice but very basic choices, and the hotel pool had extremely limited chairs so that we never could sit by the pool. Had a wonderful stay at Carvi! While the rooms are no frills, the hotel is directly next to the biggest beach in Lagos and the Ponta de Piedade. Can walk everywhere!! Also, the included breakfast was AMAZING. Lots of options, really great way to start the day and not have to go into town if you didn’t want to. For the price this place charges, you can find somewhere better to stay 100%. The 4 good things about this place is the pool (beautiful view and lots of chairs), the breakfast was perfect with lots of choices, it's proximity to the beach is nice, and the room cleanliness was great compared to most hotels I've stayed at. However, the fact that they can advertise this place as a coworking stay is LAUGHABLE. The wifi is HORRIFIC, nothing loads, I couldn't even look something up on google. There's absolutely no excuse to not have better internet nowadays. Secondly, we wanted to stay in and eat for 2 nights and they couldn't even offer us utensils or paper plates. Seriously, not a cup, not a fork, not a tiny napkin - they had nothing, no wonder people steal from the restaurant on the rooftop. And thirdly, although it's our fault for not looking into the location more, we would've had much more fun if we had stayed somewhere in the old town. Other than the beach next door, there's nothing, just a small market. You either walk 15-20 minutes slightly uphill every time you want to eat or take cheap ubers. Lastly, service was aggressively mediocre. They answer your questions with one word, but no smiles, no extra help - if you hate your job so much, find another one....? Avoid. The supreme location of being a quick 5 minute walk from the beach was NOT worth it. Lagos is small enough with cheap Ubers, it doesn’t take more than 15 minutes to get around anywhere, stay elsewhere. Pros: - Location - Rooftop restaurant Cons: - Tiny room - RUDE staff - Walls are paper thin - no outlets in the bathroom - rickety patio “latch” used as a lock - loud at night with the rooftop restaurant - Elevators are so run down they took forever and felt unsafe My partner and I asked for towels and toilet paper for our room only to be lectured by the front desk lady that we had our “do not disturb” sign on the door and they won’t replenish the towels but they would give us toilet paper. Traveling anywhere, we always have our DND sign on because we don’t want to risk having anything be misplaced. Luckily the housekeeper was kind and let us swap our towels when she met us at our room. We stayed here last week and I would not recommend it. The hotel is really basic, almost hostel like. When we arrived, there was a sign saying the pool bar would be closed for two days. Not great when you are on vacation. The service at the reception desk was very poor. The rooms are really basic and they do not even have a pen and paper to write on if you needed to make a note. You had to pay a deposit of 10 euro for each towel you took out and had to keep it for a couple of days and this was only if there were towels available. There was no coffee maker in the room. The wifi was non-existent. When I tried to upload a new book to my kindle and was not successful, the person at the front desk told me it was not their wifi, it was my kindle lol. The pool was absolutely freezing and the pool area was not very nice. The breakfast was basic and the coffee was not good. All in all a very disappointing experience. The hotels saving grace was the roof top restaurant which was amazing. The food, the staff, the view, the management. We had Miguel as our waiter on many occasions including one night when there were 9 of us for dinner. He did an amazing job of being attentive, courteous and had a great sense of humor. The Room is very clean and the people working there are really helpfull in case you need something (24h service). You are straight at the beach (2min walking) and also have the „hiking“ trail that takes you around the coast in front of your door. An amazing location next to a beautiful beach and close enough to walk to old town (or drive). We loved Lagos and glad we spent most of our trip in this town! The hotel, not great. Room was nice though starting to show its age a little. Staff friendly. Good breakfast with a good choice but cutlery and plates are ridiculously small like you would give to a five year old child. Beautiful room and spotlessly clean! Breakfast was delicious, loads of options. The Lucas restaurant is amazing with super helpful and friendly waiters. The location is the best bit, right next to the gorgeous Praia de Dona Ana beach and an easy walk into Lagos. Pros: Spectacular location overlooking one of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve. Great, full breakfast buffet with amazing views overlooking the ocean. 2 minute walk to the boardwalk along the cliffs. Several options to get into town: The Gold Tourist Train stops in front of the hotel hourly, 15 minute walk or 4 euro Uber ride. Plenty of restaurants nearby if you don't want to go into town. Cons: No beach/pool towels available all 4 nights we were there. We ended up just buying a towel from a vendor. There is a random abandoned hotel next door. Apparently it has been abandoned for over 20 years. It has nothing to do with Carvi, but it's an eye sore. Dream location! Steps away from Praia de Donna Anna, one of the most picturesque beaches I’ve seen. Room was nice and mine had a partial ocean view, which was lovely. Wish the bathroom was set up differently and that there was a place to fill up your water bottle, but not a huge deal. The rooms were very clean, the location was amazing (right next to the beach) and there is parking across the street if needed. The front desk staff was not very kind at any point when we interacted with them and they acted like we were a nuisance when we tried to talk to them. We’ve ordered the food delivery in our room on 4th and they forgot to put cutlery. I’ve asked a restaraunt service guy to give us 4 forks that we can eat. He answered that I need to ask reception (!!). When I came to reception they said that they can sell me a sets of cutlery for 1.5 euro each, and they accept ONLY CASH. So I need to go to my number again, get the cash and go down to reception. “Best” decision they can made. Also I want to pay attention about pool water temperature - in the end of an April the weather was 25-27 degrees, but in the pool the water was so cold (i think 16-18). We loved our stay at Carvi! The location really can't be beat. It is not right on the water but so close to it that it really didn't matter. The views from the rooftop restaurant are absolutely excellent and their glass walls make it visible from anywhere inside the restaurant and they have outdoor balcony seating as well. The staff (both hotel and restaurant) were very friendly and helpful. The food and drinks at the restaurant for dinner were decent but by no means amazing. It was all very elegant and pretty looking but tasted just okay. Not sure if it was just the specific drinks that I ordered or if they were just much more chivalrous towards women but my drinks were watery and quite underpoured whereas my wife's were plentiful and of great quality. The breakfast on the other hand, which is free for hotel guests, was unreal. By far the best hotel breakfast I have ever had. They had essentially any breakfast food you desired. Pastries, sandwich ingredients, cereal, yogurt, eggs, french toast, pancakes, fresh fruit, coffee, juice, and so much more. The room was pretty good but just nothing too luxurious which for the price was more than reasonable. The only true complaint about the room is that the hotel doors are extremely heavy so you will hear pretty much anyone who comes and goes around you. Overall, we loved it! What an amazing bargain for such fine accommodations and location, location, location! For about €75 per night (late March) we had an ocean view room at the Carvi Beach hotel. We walked into historic Lagos each day, and along a beautiful wooden boardwalk trail along the sandstone bluff-top connecting several spectacular beaches and scenic vistas. Wildflowers, beaches, spectacular vistas, birds and beautiful weather made this a most memorable stop on our trip around Portugal. Did I mention that the hotel offers a spectacular buffet breakfast with a huge variety of hot foods, pastry and bread items, beverages of all sorts and served on the rooftop restaurant overlooking the whole area. And this breakfast was included in the bargain off-season price. Well run hotel, very friendly staff, including cleaning staff. The rooms are minimalist and very spacious. We were 3 older ladies and one of us wanted a room change which they offered to her as soon as it became possible. They also asked us if we needed extra blankets. So making sure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. The restaurant upstairs was a lovely rooftop terrasse with beautiful views across the ocean. Breakfast was served here as well with a great selection of fresh fruit, sweet and savoury dishes which varied daily. The hotel has a fitness room and a recreation room with pool table and docking stations for computers and an outdoor area leading from this plus some extra small verandas scattered around including a cosy seating area inside and outside the entrance. The pool at the top of the hotel looked very inviting, but in February still a bit to cool to try out . We certainly will be back. The junior suite has a great view. It's still side view to the ocean but it juts out past the others and you see the great view in the images I've attached. The hotel has basic services. It's clean and has a work space which is nice. Also has a rooftop pool with lounge chairs but is cold water so we haven't used it in fall (as it's too chilly). The location is really good if you are focused on beaches and views. It's about a 6 euro Uber (less than 10 minute drive) into old town Lagos where all the restaurants and bars are. Awesome quality-price hotel. My husband and I stayed at the Carvi beach hotel for 6 nights and were extremely satisfied of our choice. We did benefited from the 'end of season' discounts; which is great. The rooms had everything we needed, with a huge balcony from which we were able to take a little drink and look at the sea. It is not directly in front of the water but the side view is still great in my opinion. Location is great: right next to one of the nicest beach and just in front of the path to walk along the Algarve cliffs. It is a bit further away from the old town but if you have a car or like to walk, the distances are very reasonable to reach the Old town. The rooftop restaurant has a great view and offered us a nice and complete breakfast every morning. The staff was always smiley and very helpful. The gym is super big and allowed us to stay in shape during our stay. In addition, the rooms were kept clean everyday... even with all the sand we were bringing back from the beach every day. The hotel has a nice area to work calmly + option to print if you need to. Finally, the Food & Beverages manager (antonio) was always super helpful and very kind. The number one draw card here is the location as it's right next to the beach. I had a room with sea view on the balcony on level 3 and the room was quite spacious albeit fairly basic in facilities and amenities. The room was clean, drains wasn't blocked . The hallways look tired and old. The breakfast was fairly average and the machine coffee was fairly weak. The location is an issue as it's a 15 to 20 min walk to downtown or 10 min to nearest shops and the hotel doesnt have its own parking. We came in low season so the public parking across the road was readily available but it' would be a real issue in summer. The proximity and ease in which you could climb into your neighbors balconies also meant that you had no privacy there. Wifi not dependable in the rooms. Would recommend staying above the main floor. Rooftop restaurant is excellent and not overly expensive. Seaweed on beach is a big nuisance and the waves can make it difficult to get in and out of the water, but the scenery is fantastic. Relatively new boardwalk is also great once you get on it. The only downside of the location is that it is ~20 minute walk from the old town where most restaurants, tours, experiences, etc... are located. I had a really good stay. Rooms were very clean but pretty basic, even though it was quite pricey. The hotel is very close to the next beach - one of the nicest of all Algarve. So I think the price is still somewhat okay. Hotel staff was very friendly at all times. I missed an electric kettle and maybe some tea and cuttlery for fruits in the room. Breakfast was very nice with lots of variety and a beautiful view. I missed fresh orange juice, since there are very tasty and juicy oranges in Portugal. We had a great stay at this place. The only reason I don't give it a 5 star for the room is because when we arrived the terrace had not been properly cleaned and had an empty beer bottle and dirt around. The room itself was serviced very well. The cleaning ladies were quick to take care of the issue and always left the room impeccable afterwards. The breakfast buffet is very good, with enough options for everyone. Now, the restaurant has an incredible view of Praise de Ana and the weather was gorgeous every morning we were there. Two stars for the location and the location only. You are directly near the most beautiful beaches of Lagos. Town isn’t a bad walk away, can be a little eerie at night though. The hotel itself is not great. The rooms and bathrooms are not nice and you can literally hear everything from upstairs, neighbors, and hallways. The only nice part of the room is the balcony though there is zero privacy from your neighbors. They have a beach towel deposit program which is nice but you can only get a clean towel every 2 days. Stopped by for a bite to eat and a glass of wine in between beaches, and I'm glad I did! The sauteed shrimp was wonderful. There's a sign at the elevator and again at the host stand saying that there is limited availability without a reservation, but I had no problem getting a table for one on the patio at 3:30. Not great, if your room is on the 3rd floor it’s under the restaurant so you hear chairs thumping till midnight. The room next to use was being renovated for mold. With private access to to phenomenal secluded beaches and some of the most pristine coastal hikes in the Algarve, we spent barely any time in the rooms. The rooms were clean, firm bed, nicely tidied and made each day. Breakfast was solid, with variety each day, fresh fruits and breads, and fluffy eggs. We looked forward to it each morning. The only note, is that the rooms let in considerable sounds from around the hotel and could benefit from additional sound insulation. If you're a light sleeper, you might want to consider bringing your ear plugs. The locations is excellent. Very near the most beautiful beach of the Algarve. The gym, also good, but has no towels or drinking water. The breakfast is also not impressive. Had an excellent week-long stay here for our honeymoon in November 2021. All staff members were friendly, professional, and helpful from check-in to check-out. We booked the suite which provided an absolutely amazing view of the coastline and were able to watch the sunrise from our bed each morning. Luca's Rooftop, the hotel restaurant, was also a great experience with friendly servers and quality food and drinks. Would recommend this to anyone looking to stay a bit off the main strip in Lagos in a slightly quieter area, especially during the off-season. We have a brief stay here but enjoyed the setting above the beautiful Dona Ana beach, and about a 20 minute walk to the old town and marina area (be sure to take a boat to see the caves and grottos). Lots of stairs down to the beach but very worth it! The room was small and basic, but our balcony was huge (no sea view, not available). The beds were really comfortable, and front desk service was fast. Parking is tough during the day unless it’s early or late, but it’s free. Fantastic restaurant with a great view and even better service for dinner. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. A treat! Would come again. The hotel is good for the price. The rooms are very nice and clean, but the sound isolation is not the best. The pool is nice and big but the water can be too cold depending on the temperature outside. The restaurant is ok, but the breakfast definitely needs improvement - in my opinion there could be more artisanal Portuguese products rather than store-bought and the coffee machine serves bad coffee. we paid €150 per night. we had a very bad customer experience during our stay. We arrived to check in at 11pm after a long flight, got waken up by the phone ringing at 1am by the receptionist telling me to report to reception as he was angry that my booking went through twice, and I had of booked another room, a clear mistake from the system. I explained to him I was asleep and he told me that, they’d charge extra as on the system my booking went through as 2 rooms requested rather than one. Wonderful location right at the top of the stairs going down Dona Ana Beach. There is a common parking in front of the hotel and ypu can always get a spot if you arrive before 10:00 or after 18:00. Great dinner last night at Luca's Rooftop restaurant and bar at the top of the Carvi Hotel. Covid prep was to a high standard, temperature checks, hand gel, distanced tables and staff all wearing masks. Food was incredible. We had a room that slept 4 people, we had reserved 3 people in our room, and the bathroom had only 2 towels. We asked for an extra towel and were refused TWICE. We stayed at the Carvi Beach for one week early June. It was lovely. The hotel was exactly what we expected ... modern clean rooms ... lovely friendly staff. The view from the restaurant was gorgeous, which made breakfast a nice calm experience. Good breakfast, although it would have been better if they could vary it a bit and find a way of keeping the cooked stuff a bit warmer. The location was good - about 20 minutes walk into Lagos centre (make sure you walk along the coast and don't walk through the town). Lovely location - plenty of nice walking to do along the coast ... only spoilt by the derelict hotel nearby (about to be refurbished apparently - and not obvious once in the hotel .... what a shame for the businesses nearby and not the hotel's fault, obviously, so star rating not reduced for this). I wouldn't pay full price for this hotel. We stayed off season and for the 1/3 price it was nice enough, but I would be very unhappy paying full rate as shown for summer. The room is spacious, but was renovated on the cheap and it shows. There's no coffee making facilities anywhere (in room or outside). WiFi was very slow. Bathroom was stinky. And there wasn't even a corkscrew in the room, which was strange as the room had a small fridge. Lovely hotel, all facilities are clean and maintained to a good standard. Family room was excellent offering different rooms in one for the double and twin beds along with two bathrooms. Beach is a few yards away however there are about 90 steps down to the beach and not easily accessible for less mobile people. Great views of Lagos from rooftop bar and restaurant. On a recent visit however I felt food quality had deteriorated from my point of view ,others in party were still pleased . Friendly place. Very clean. We had a great experience here. We bought a room for one night because we had a bad experience with a Air BnB. After the first night, we decided to stay an extra two nights and they were very accommodating and gave us a deal so we felt comfortable. You get what you pay for. Location 10/10, you'll be right on the beachfront and 10 minutes walk from the city centre. Room 4/10, cracks in walls, lights don't work, Aircon to noisy to keep on at night and the shower only goes boiling hot or cold. The bed was fairly comfortable though. Food 4/10, ate there once then just started eating out every day, there is much better value and quality food out in Lagos city centre. Very good location, right on the beach and about a 15 minute walk from 3 - 4 other beaches. Also 10 minutes away from some of the best restaurants I visited in Portugal. Staff was extremely friendly and nice, took the time to explain and recommend activities. Rooftop restaurant and bar, which includes a pretty good breakfast buffet free of charge. Room were also very clean and modern, and the A/C is actually functional unlike in many other hotels we visited in the region. Definitely recommend. The reviews of this hotel are mostly accurate. The room makes a difference. We stayed in a "Junior Suite" with an Ocean view. To be clear, the view is from the balcony. Posts stating the view is of the parking lot are technically correct but... The point is you go out in your balcany and boom! Beautiful view of the Ocean!! Our room had a refrigerator, safe, tea/coffee station, desk, AC and two TVs. Bed is comfy (and I'm picky) and water pressure was great. Breakfast is very basic and we didn't eat at the restaurant otherwise choosing to walk to town. Location is perfect if you want to spend your time on the beach or hiking. It is a bit of a walk to town but was fine for us. Parking: there is a free public parking lot right in front of the hotel. Morning and evening it is easy to find a spot but during the day you'll need to drive around or wait. WiFi is pretty slow so be patient when uploading all your awesome selfies. The location of this hotel near Praia Dona Ana is the only nice feature. The hotel staff never replied to my inquiry regarding parking a couple days before my arrival. Carvi Beach Hotel does not provide towels for the beach and tries to restrict your use of the bath towels, which can be a problem for a tourist like me. Our shower drain was somehow completely clogged, and the receptionist at first expected me to simply go without showering despite my long day of traveling and laying on the beach. They couldn’t get someone to clear the drain until the following day. Bathrooms weren’t clean. The food and service at the hotel were abominable. WiFi spotty at best. Not coming back. We stayed here last November and we really liked it. We are here for 2 night's now and requested a high floor near to lift. We got neither and the room is not so comfortable as we had before bed and pillows not that comfortable. I am breaking up this review to cover everything. The Hotel is very nice starting with the very friendly and great sense of humors deak person. I believe his name is Henrique, I may be wrong but absolutely a great personality and customer service. The room is clean , modern and nice rear patio. The pool is nice clean, modern and great view. The proximity to the beach is fantastic and what a great beach ! The local police seem to be he patrolling and looking after tourist every 30 to 15 minutes, totally made me feel safe. Parking is right in front of this hotel truly how great is that! The gym is clean and nice super decent equipment. The rooftop restaurant is by far the best ! The food is very tasty. We were lucky to have Antonio the Manager give us some meal suggestions. The curry mussels were so very good, the Cataplana seafood dish is outstanding. The service is incredible, they also have a restaurant in NYC that is the best Brazilian and Portugal food in Manhattan and a Carvi Hotel. I am not sure if that had anything to do with how attentive to detail and service they are. I hope every customer has the ability o experience the Alfredo the owner and Antonio the Manager, very great and welcoming people. BTW great internet service ! Beach is practically on their doorstep and it's such a nice beach but there are many to choose from within a walkable distance. The pool is freezing and we are still trying to pluck up the courage to take a dip. Walkable to the center of town but beware the hill on the way back, very long steep bank which has caused me and my partner some sore calves! All worth it though. Would come back no question. My wife and I went from 21st December to the 29th December 2016 and had an excellent time. The Directors and all the staff were freindly helpful and professional. Everywhere was clean and tidy. The Roof top restaurant was very good from the range offered for Breakfast to the menu for evening meal. We also joined them for the Christmas meal on Christmas Eve and this was excellent. The hotel is yards away from a great beach as well as a great location to visit Lagos and surrounding areas. Os diretores e todos os funcionários foram extremamente prestativos e profissionais. Todo lugar estava limpo e arrumado. Também nos juntamos a eles para a refeição de Natal na véspera de Natal e isso foi excelente.
