  we had a dinner for two on the beautiful terrace which is heated and euipped with blankets when it is not that hot. it's beautiful located. also the room inside looked very nice and comfortable. the people working there are really nice and were always looking around if someone needs something we didn't have to wait a minute to be served after we run out of wine. but still it was a relaxed and smooth atmosphere and it was even possible to have a little talk with the guys. the food was excellent, tapas really really good especially the humus and the piri piri sauce served to the are a must have! for main I had the chicken and I didn't know yet it's possible to serve chicken that soft. so good. chips are homemade and perfect also. we will absolutely go there again. thank you.   This was the first of many restaurants we ate at in the Algarve and Lagos. We waited a few weeks to provide reviews so we could compare. After finding 2 of the restaurants we wanted to dine at closed, we stumbled across this gem. Loving fresh seafood we ordered 2 portions of the seared tuna chunks, piri piri prawns and roasted vegetable salad. We loved the tuna, hence why we ordered a 2nd portion, and the prawns were done perfectly. The salad was good but the seafood 😋 stood out. This restaurant didn't pop up when we searched restaurants on our Google maps but perhaps it doesn’t need to because their food was very good and they have lots of positive reviews.   AWESOME place. Go get a Prego sandwich here, it was perfect for our rainy day. The 'chips' are fried potatoes and were among the best we've had.   We are so glad we found this spectacular eatery. I had the OPrego and my husband had the Prego do Mar. The sandwiches were cut in half so we split them. The steak was fantastically tender. It was served on a fresh ( I believe homemade) roll. It had butter and garlic sauce on it. The tuna, served on the same type roll had beautifully carmelized onions and what was described as a tartar sauce but seemed more like an aioli. Each sandwich was served with “chips”. The chips were a cross between a potato chip and a French fry. Perfectly crispy and well seasoned. My husband said that Casa do Prego takes Prego to a new level and I couldn’t agree more. We are very lucky to have been able to retire in Lagos and I can guarantee that we will be back here with family and friends. Our server Arsh was wonderful also.   Caso do Prego is a cosy place. The crew is relaxed and it is fun to watch them doing their work. We where two times there. First we tried the Tapas. Second time the Burger (Pregos) and the beef steak Sao Jorge. Every time the food was very delicious and tasty, the steak grilled to the point.   New Year’s Eve dinner. Lovely food, pleasant ambiance. The steak was out of this world perfect. The man who runs the place was very nice, and spent some time with everyone, to give us various details. The service was also good. Nice music, nice atmosphere. It was really good. Just one negative, although overall we had a nice experience and great night and I would 100% return. My friend had the vegetarian menu, and her main was very oily. Surely they would have offered a replacement, but it was NYE, didn’t want extra attention or to complain. Maybe something that can be taken as constructive in the future.   I made reservations for party of 11 at Casa do Prego and was able to get in for dinner service. The restaurant was on the second floor of a building. The entrance was leading up to stairs and once you’ve reached the dining area, you’re greeted by the host and servers who were cheerful and friendly, they make you feel like you’re family. We were seated right away and the servers provided us really good recommendations based on our preferences with allergy restrictions, it’s really hard to find good food, but they were able to cater to our needs. The food and drinks came out and we were just so impressed. We had piri-piri shrimp, beef and bread . The sauce was amazing. Highly recommend the shrimp piri-piri for the spice lovers. We also had the tuna entree and that was just melt in you mouth good! We live in Alberta where beef is something we’re always proud of, but the beef in Casa do Prego has made me question my own belief of beef in Alberta being the best in the world lol! It was so good. Overall, I would highly recommend Casa do Prego to anyone and everyone I know. It’s so amazing there and they treat you like gold. Which is so important when you’re trying something new .   So I read all the reviews and thought.....just a little over the top......they were not. We had an awesome tapas meals. You have to try the piri-piri beef. Fantastic You have to try the seared tuna. Fantastic. You have to try the prawns. Fantastic...,. Getting the idea. Between the 2 couples we had 8 different dishes and each one was a win. Service is spot on. Everybody from manager (owner maybe??) through servers, food delivers, etc always had a smile and were extremely helpful. The place is super busy but you can make a reservation by email up until 7:00. Later in the evening you can expect to wait in line with all the other hopefuls. You will not be disappointed.   We visited here on our last evening before heading back home. The menu is limited. We had different plates to share which were nice. The prego sandwich is so morish. I've been thinking of it since then and when we're there next Sept we will definitely be visiting again.   Amazing tapas restaurant in the heart of Lagos. Me and my partner tried to come here for dinner at first but it was fully booked (so book it in advance or show up early because it gets busy!), so we came back the day after and it was so worth the wait!   Service is great and atmosphere is very good. The food is ok, but a bit hit and miss. The prawns were amazing and the hot sauce was so good. But the beef tapas dish was not good. It tasted a bit weird like it had gone off or they'd cooked it in the wrong type of oil. It was a fun experience but not sure we will be back based on the food.   My absolute top pick among Lagos restaurants. My only regret is that I found it on my final day. I wish I had the chance to dine here multiple times and enjoy multiple menu offerings. I can't speak highly enough of the camarao frito (prawns), pica pau de atum (tuna chunks) and cheesecake mojito dessert (OMG so good). I highly recommend dining here!   I picked the place on the basis of existing reviews and I was not disappointed. The waiters were very kind, welcoming and helpful. The food was fantastic! Great little sandwiches with wonderful cuts of meat and a side of nice chips. My wife loved the shrimps with piri-piri sauce. The kids shared a single sandwich of beef and were delighted. The portions were great for a light meal, just what we wanted in this heat. The place has a great atmosphere, although the music sound level was more appropriate for a bar than a restaurant, perhaps?   We didn't have a very good experience here. After seeing so many good reviews I thought this place would of been a lot better. We ordered 2 lots of prawns as starters and a steak as a main to share. I double checked with the waiter and said the prawns we would like as starters he replied with yes. Anyway.. all 3 come out together so by the time we went to eat the steak it was very cold. Steak was so chewy and not cooked at all if you ask me. I dont mind eating rare steak but why is it steely chewy for prices they charge?   This place is great. Ignore reviews that say it’s not “authentic” or “traditional”, if you want an old style Portuguese restaurant, there are loads in Lagos, go find one of those instead. If you want a really good Prego, you’ll find one here, service is great, good atmosphere, prices are reasonable. Yes it’s busy in tourist season, but it’s also open year round unlike a lot of places in Lagos. The roof terrace is also a great way to spend a lazy afternoon drinking the excellent sangria.   The restaurant is beautifully situated with an elevated terrace. The service is very attentive and totally entertaining :) The food, however, is unfortunately very below average. The beef was very extremely tough and unfortunately not served medium as originally ordered (I am also not sure yet whether this was beef at all). The tapas and starters are not good value for money either, as the hummus with veggies (2 carrots) tasted like nothing.... Conclusion: Because of the service and the beautiful location, you can have a nice drink here, but I definetely wouldn't recommend eating here, at least not at these prices.   The restaurant we wanted to try was full and not taking anyone that didn’t have a reservation, so we ended up at this one. We are happy it worked out that way.   Really tasty food with quick service. I suspect the service was so quick because we had 2 small kids with us, but that was exactly what we wanted so it was much appreciated! The food was really nice, especially the potato chips. The service was fantastic and they made a real effort to welcome our toddler... balloons, kids menu, etc. The staff were so nice and friendly.   European concept is fine (works for some tourists). Plates look beautiful. But I visit Algarve, Portugal for it's traditional and fresh food. Casa do Prego is a modern and a bit French inspired kitchen in my opinion. Unfortunately it does not serve the fresh food and flavors I came to Lagos for. The meat for example did not taste special (fresh). Texture indicated frozen. Sorry! Nice service but too touristic orientated for my taste (fast run, more guests)! Young professional people with good humor (it's fits with the modern style interior). The starter is recommended; lagustine in garlicsauce was the best from the menu in the restaurant we had! Overall not too bad. But I miss the important things I look for in a traditional place like Lagos, Portugal. Keep it authentic please! Portugal is good in traditional freshfood. Sellingpoint nr 1. If you plan on going there you should arrive early as it might include quite some waiting time - part of that time (for us it was roughly an hour) you can enjoy on the rooftop bar enjoying some drinks!   This is a lovely little place for some great wine (and some sangria) and an outdoor patio ambience. But, the food really steals the show. The tapas were a good size and the plates themselves were full of flavor. The staff is really friendly and even accommodated having a drink before being seated outside. The place is tucked away and the patio is closed in by some glass paneling to make it private and safe while also bringing in as much sun as possible.   The best restaurant we’ve had the privilege to enjoy in Portugal and Spain. Energy was fire and music on point. Every server was super cool. Service: the manager/host (owner?) was super cool and set us up at a table since we were walk in. Had a few ice cold beers off the tap. Once we were sat the waiter had our plates coming out in an organized fashion since I ordered a lot (needed to try a few dishes) YOLO Food: had the tuna marinated in this garlic piece sauce. Was amazing. Followed up with the steak, a perfect medium rare and taste was ok point. A little tough but amazing. Fries had these incredible curls to them, some of the best I’ve ever had. We really struggled to make a decision with here to eat in Lagos as were only around for two nights but I’m so so pleased we decided to try here! Really lovely staff, friendly and warm.   Had a very enjoyable stay, upon arrival they were apparently fully booked so we were referred to the rooftop terrace for a drink while waiting for a table. Great view overlooking the street below and some nice mojitos.   This restaurant is very popular and typically has a wait…but my sense is that it’s mostly due to the atmosphere vs. food. The rooftop is a nice place to get a drink and the green sangria is tasty and unique (with plenty of alcohol in it). There’s good music playing everywhere. The prawn dishes in both red piri piri spicy and white garlic sauces are good, though small (they’re appetizers). We tried the chorizo appetizer and it was relatively mediocre. Your bread was also mediocre. The rest of the dishes didn’t look fantastic (basic meats, etc) so we decided to go elsewhere for the rest of the evening. However, we would come back for drinks and prawns to enjoy the atmosphere, especially on the rooftop.   I suggest getting here early or else plan to wait. First you wait in a line on the stairs, then you are directed to the rooftop bar for drinks and tapas while you wait for your table (for us this was around 45-60 mins). This is not too bad as you are already starting your meal and drinks. My tuna steak was amazing, however knocking down 1 star for my wife’s steak.   We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and meal. The staff were polite and helpful, and the restaurant was nicely laid out on different floors. There was a good kids menu for €8 which included a drink, a meal and a jelly. The portion size and amount of meat included was good and very succulent. Our meals were delicious too. I had the pork tenderloin and my wife had the chicken breadt. Both were served with chips and salad and were tasty and a good size. The drinks prices were very reasonable too.   Been there twice this trip food overall very good. A few things here and there prawns with garlic are fantastic. Had them both visits but first time they where better. Def get some bread to dip the sauce. The chorizo was good it’s local with 3 different varieties so if you don’t like black sausage don’t go for it. Then i had the pork which was nice. One piece was a bit over but the rest was nice. The side salad a bit underdressed for me at-least. Staff very good ! very attentive and fast super service overall.   So disappointing! After reading many great reviews, I had high expectations and was really looking forward to the tuna steak. Couldn’t have been more disappointed with what I was served. The tuna was low quality, fatty, and just not very good. The sauce it was served with “saved” it a bit, but it still wasn’t enjoyable. The salad had no dressing, and therefore no flavor.   It’s been over a year since I was last here but I felt the need to finally leave a positive review. My girlfriend and I spent several days in Lagos on vacation and this was by far our favorite restaurant. We went three times in three days and we still frequently talk about how great it was. Each time we went the food was amazing but the staff was even better. We always had amazing service even on busy nights. Every waiter who served us made the night more enjoyable by recommending great options and joking with us the entire time. Don’t let the stairs throw you off like they almost did to us! If you only have a couple days in Lagos, this should be at the top of your list of restaurants to visit!   We did not reserve a table so we tried one's luck. There wasn't a free table for four persons but 30 minutes later. We got a timer which blinks when your table is ready. Meanwhile we had some drinks on the rooftop bar. It is a really nice bar with firendly employees. The food was good and totally ok for the price. One of our steaks were well done and not medium, the waiter offered us a new one. Inside the restaurant it is very loudly and the atmosphere is a little bit stressfull.   Wonderful family experience! This place came well recommended so we decided to accept the waiting time of up to an hour. A drink on the roof top waiting area killed the time easily and probably was no more than 30 minutes in the end. The staff took really good care of our almost 2 year old, paying so much attention to her and our needs. Helping with the stroller, carrying the baby high chair, entertaining her.   Came here twice, once we couldn't get able as it was so busy and the 2nd time was a 25mins wait as we didn't reserve a table.   Great staff and amazing ambiance! The restaurant was full when we arrived and they made a table to accommodate us. Servers spent time telling us about Portuguese culture. On top of that, the food was incredible! We had the boar and the tuna (see pictures). Both were fantastic. We will definitely go back before we leave!   Great food and wonderfully refreshing atmosphere! We loved the welcome and the service. Towards the end we felt a little left alone and waited just a little too long for the bill but this was just a small hiccup compared to the positives!   Amazing service! We had some drinks upstairs on the terrace while we waited for our table. didnt wait long, about 30 minutes. We ordered the shrimp in piri piri for appi, rump steak in garlic butter, sirloin in peppercorn sauce, and lime cheesecake. Delicious!! best service! only thing is they dont have wifi, however, while waiting for your table they do have decks of cards available! (Traduzido pelo Google) Serviço incrível!
