  We visited this restaurant 15 years ago and loved the place. We decided to re-visit during our current stay and we were not disappointed. We love the fried shrimps in garlic sauce.   Great spot if you're looking for a simple grilled meal. The swordfish and pork chops were both excellent. My only critique would be that I had wished the food had been sliced thicker. I got two pork chops as well as two swordfish fillets that were sliced quite thin. I would have preferred one fillet that was twice as thick.   Honestly i was very sad after eating here it seemed like they didn’t put any love into preparing the food especially for the prices (which where not super high but also not the cheapest) I would have expected and wished for a bit more of everything. The size of the portion was okay, the salad and the fish plate didn’t really have any taste at all (my friend literally had to add salt a couple of times and olive oil to add something like a sauce to her dish..). Also the atmosphere seems like it’s just a mass production setup ready for a cruiseship of tourists as well as the service.. if you want to have a nice, cozy and high quality dinner I would try it somewhere else… sorry! We had some wonderful food and some lovely vinho verde - the cheapest per litre that we found on our trip. The atmosphere was great, super busy with a healthy mix of tourists and locals.   This restaurant is popular and it fills up very quickly. The dishes are okay but not the best. The clams were very good but we wish the portion could be bigger. The sardines were too big and not as crispy as they should be. Fish/Squids were cooked a tad too dry. It’s worth a visit but I do recommend to try other places in town as well. On this visit, the restaurant filled up quickly, and in a restaurant of this size, it is not easy to work efficiently and in an organized way, as employees and management do. I chose the Tenderloin steak, mixed salad, and accompanied with the house red wine. Usually, when I'm by myself, I never order starters. The steak was good but not the best one that I have eaten. For dessert, as usual, my favorite cheesecake.   I arrived with 5 friends at 2:30, ordered at 2:35 and got what we ordered after 45 mins. I ordered a Coke zero and did not get a can, just a small glass, which was disappointing. The fish was terribly cooked, and burnt, I had to leave half the codfish. Finally when I complained the waiters were very rude and did not even apologize.   We saw long queues outside this restaurant multiple times on our holiday so decided we would go one evening. We went early to beat the queue, around 5:30/6pm. It was huge inside, like a big dining hall. The portions are large and we’ll worth the money we even took some potatoes, bread and fish pate home with us. The garlic squids are delicious, I got picanha brasileira and it was quite tasty, sliced thin but cooked very well. My partner got the swordfish and it was delicious, meaty and flavoursome.   Great food. I enjoyed the fried sardines and the clams. Others with me who had the sea bass said that was really good as well. This restaurant is down by the marina in Lagos. It is not a cute on the outside or the inside as other places, however the food and the service was 5 stars in my opinion. Next time I visit Lagos, I would definitely go back to Adega da Marina.   Amazing place for a quality dinner date or for the whole family. Came here with friends (8 pax), so we had lot's of different dishes. Ordered the sword fish x2, one came out alright ( a bit over cooked) and one came super dry and disgusting. Not edible at all. Changed it for the garlic shrimp which were good but no better than every other restaurant in Portugal (you can never go wrong with garlic shrimp). All the sides were just ok.   A new experience for us when looking for something to eat for lunch in Lagos in the Algarve. A really big restaurant which was really busy we were lucky enough to get a table. Not speaking Portuguese or knowing what the dishes were we did choose the plates of the day and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I had to take some away as there was enough for two. Always eat where the locals eat and it will always be good and cheap.   The best place to have fresh seafood in Lagos. The seafood can be ordered by weight. Fried Shrimps (45.5€ per kg) was amazing. Minimum order is 200gms and there will be about 10 small shrimps. Grilled king prawns (67€ per kg) is served with rice, melted butter and chilli vinegar. The place gets crowded in the evening. And usually it takes 10-15 mins for the food to be served.   We popped in on the off chance as I could see it is a really busy place (walked past twice and the queue was huge!) I now know why!!! We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked through the door. I looked at the extensive menu and after much deliberation me and my wife made our decision. I was having the Iberian Pork chops and my wife had the grilled pork belly. When it arrived it looked, and smelled, absolutely amazing! There was plenty of meat and fries plus a delicious potato/garlic hash brown looking thing (I apologize for not getting it's name!!!) which was just sublime. All in all the food, the drink and the service was worthy of 10 stars let alone five!   Love the simplicity of the food and both times it’s been really tasty and good quality. Their system is a bit odd, as the queues outside can be long and slow yet often the restaurant is only half full inside. Perhaps they can’t get enough staff to keep it going at full capacity, but when it’s hot outside, standing in it is pretty gruelling. For me the most frustrating thing is how variable the service is. First time we had a lovely lady called Maria, really helpful and pleasant. Second time we had a short middle aged guy who clearly just wanted to process people like cattle and certainly showed a dislike for foreigners. I tried to do the polite thing and order in Portuguese and he kept eye rolling and laughing at my questions about some modifications, replying continually in English (I’m Spanish). He absolutely ruined the experience for us so it’s the last time we are going, which is a shame as many others there are perfectly lovely and the food is good.   This is a good place to eat and famous local huge restaurant and busy in the evening but you will get a table. Service can be slow but that's probably due to the number of orders and guest and not enough staff. Food is good. I got the squid comes with chips or salad and I also had the local salted cod which was worth a try but is a sort of dried fish comes with boiled potatoes and garlic so get a salad with it.   We went as a group of friends, as one of us has already been there and recommended it. The service was disappointing, the staff was not attentive and did not manage to take our order properly. It took a while until we fot our starters and by the time we got, there were 3 starters which were not even ordered by the waiter. Apparently he was out on the night before and he told us from the beginning he was extremely hangover, so this prob affected his behaviour. The main dishes were served within 40 minutes. Although the long wait, the fishes we ordered (robalo, dourada, swordfish) were very tasty. The Brazilian picanha was not as good as the fish but also edible. The restaurant is big and it can be crowded, so be ready for the noise and the strong smell of food if you chose to ait inside. It us possible to sit outside but not if you arrive too late.   Having been a frequent and very satisfied visitor to this restaurant over the last 16 years we were really disappointed this time. I know the business owners (brothers) had split and changes had taken place but the usual standard has gone right off. The fried prawns were nowhere near the standard of the past and the chicken, well, I think my measley serving of the bird had been on a hunger strike, hardly any meat on the bones. Prices have also risen sharply but other restaurants have avoided increases. It's a great shame that this has happened hopefully they'll pull it back round, we won't be visiting again until we hear things have changed.   We went here on recommendation and were severely disappointed. In Portugal it is normal to pay for the bread, butter and olives that are offered, but here they wanted to charge us 20 euros alone for the butter and bread (although i have to say we got a smaller price when we complained) The meals looked amazing, but sadly all of the squids were burned.   Don’t go here. When we walked in we looked around to see if we would be seated. They looked at us and just turned away. We picked a table ourselves and sat down. The whole vibe in the restaurant was unpleasant. Very cold and empty. Like you’re sitting in a warehouse.   Food is good. but after we came few times to the restaurant and the crew saw that we’re order a lot and pay nice tips they start try to put on the table things that we didn’t order. Also, after 3 days in a row that we’ve been eat there in amount of over 500€ , my mask got wet and they gave me a new simple mask and they charge us for 1€ .   Lovely setting and staff were very efficient. Only thing it lacked was a bit of a personal touch with the service. It was very rushed. Also the food was lovely however my fish was far too salty.   Yummy... that was a delicious meal! We stepped in relatively late on a Monday evening. It was nice and busy but not packed. There was plenty of staff (who were great) and everything went fine and smooth. I had a nice vegetable soup to start and then some really delicious fresh squid from the grill. Served with boiled potatoes, raw onion and tomato... it was perfect! My girlfriend had some super tasty garlic prawns, another simple but perfect dish. The dessert was also traditional Portuguese (cream tart and carob-fig tart). No fancy stuff, no effort to be something else, no huge portions... just good products that are well prepared.   The restaurant is big and spacious with plenty of customers. Our food took a long time to arrive and some customers were served first even as they arrived after us. The salted cod fish is ok in general. Fish is fresh but some parts were overcooked. Boiled potatoes were served on the side but doesn’t have seasoning which makes it bland. In the line, we waited for approximately 20 minutes and when we were the next to sit at the available table, there was a table for 2 with a part in the sun (it was outside) and another table totally in the shadow for 4, so we asked the waitress if we could sit in the table for 4 because of the sun and she said that table was reserved and we sit in the table in the sun, after some minutes a couple that arrived AFTER us were invited to the best table (totally in the shadow).   Went three nights in a row with friends while staying in Lagos. It was our favourite restaurant during our Portugal trip. Authentic, uncomplicated food done well. Expect a queue, even at 10pm, but it is worth it. We tried most of the menu and besides some fish being a bit over for our taste, it was all delicious. Particularly enjoyed the secretos, tenderloin skewers, grilled king prawns, sardines and clams. The layer cake is also fantastic. Highly recommend going if you're in Lagos.   Not a warm welcome. Difficult to get info from the waiter who appeared grumpy. My husband's fish had to be replaced as it was still raw/frozen in the middle, his second fish was fine.   Edit: came back during late autumn and had to wait at the front entrance. We were inside and seated within 5 minutes. The place was packed, maybe 200 people inside but they have a lot of wait staff and everything ran smoothly. Our waiter was brilliant and the food was stunning. Previous review: Don't expect a warm welcome but do expect great food at reasonable prices. There were four staff outside on the Avenida when we arrived. Not one of them greeted us or even seemed to notice we were there so we just took a table and waited. Not a great start. Took a while to get someone to take a wine order and I was wondering if I should just vote with my feet and move on. Lucky I didn't as it got better, much better thereafter. The wine was good (and cheap) and the food was simply delicious. The staff were efficient and worked very hard. My only observation is that the staff showed no emotion whatsoever, just cold focussed efficiency. My vote is still 5 stars for the quality of the food, the location and the price. Unbeatable.   This place is quite an experience but certainly worth it. You can eat inside or outside. I'm not aware you can book it so you have to chance your arm and turn up. I ate their a few days ago and at the height of the season it is naturally very busy. I ate inside and queued for almost an hour and expect even longer if you are a group of 4 or more. The food is exceptionally good and extremely cheap. The menu is very extensive too. I thoroughly recommend this place. The cod smelled bad and tasted horrible. We said it to the waitress and they they wouldn't take it back. We still had to pay it. I would never come again or recommend it.   For lunch there was not much of a wait however after 7pm there’s a massive line passing through the whole strip, and they don’t do reservations which is odd. Food was good, wait wasn’t too long and the customer service is very good and organised, each staff assigned to sections and there’s plenty of them.   This place has existed for as far as I can remember and it has not changed a thing! The service is quick, but workers could smile a little more even when tired. The food is simple and satisfying for the price it is being asked.   I love this place! It reminds me of a large school dining room. A place used by locals as well as tourists The food is fabulous, basic. Freshly cooked and local produce, a large selection of fresh fishes. Waiters take your order on their hand held device, different servers bring your particular selections fairly quickly. I have the same order regularly, king prawns with garlic, piri piri grilled chicken, potatoes and/or chips with salad, they also do a mean chocolate mousse. They take credit cards as well as cash. This place is open late too, so if you missed that dinner reservation, or you're running late and haven't booked a table, chances are, you'll still get a table here (the restaurant itself is huge).   Good food and good prices! Feels like a German beer hall inside, but with the smokyness of a great bbq restaurant. Your clothes will have some of that bbq smell! The food is pretty fresh and daily well cooked and it does come out fast. All the dishes were really good - the sardines was just ok, felt like it was frozen and didn’t have the sweet taste of fresh fish.   Eaten here several times and this is where the local Portuguese eat too. long rows of tables, quick and friendly service and the best and freshest seafood as it's a few doors away from the Fish Market. It's not fine dining, you don't get flowers and faffy bits on your plate, what you get is great authentic food in a relaxed atmosphere. You don't have to book but you may have to queue...   Went here for dinner with 2 friends. Friends had sea bass and grilled sardines that was very delicious. I had grilled swordfish that the waitress recommended and it was soggy and dry and didn't taste grilled or fresh. For the big restaurant there was only 1 older lady working and she was swapped. Service took fairly long and her English wasn't the greatest so there was a bit of a mix up with the order. When we finally got the bill, we ordered bread which came with 3 packets of butter and 1 can of sardine pate... The bread was just under 3 euro and she charged us almost 4 euro for the butter and 1.50 euro for the pate. Neither which we specifically ordered, but it was crazy that she tried to charge us more for the butter than bread. We waited so long for her to come back so we can ask about the bill that we went to the front and deducted the butter ourselves and gave her cash, which she then whipped the money on a counter, didn't say anything and walked away. Not very professional, the lady was clearly overworked and it looked like she was trying to make up the money in the order mix up by charging us for butter. Nenhum dos dois pedimos especificamente, mas foi uma loucura ela ter tentado nos cobrar mais pela manteiga do que pelo pão. Esperamos tanto que ela voltasse para podermos perguntar sobre a conta que fomos até a frente e deduzimos a manteiga nós mesmos e demos o dinheiro a ela, que ela então jogou o dinheiro em um balcão, não disse nada e foi embora . Não muito profissional, a senhora estava claramente sobrecarregada e parecia que ela estava tentando ganhar dinheiro na confusão do pedido, cobrando-nos pela manteiga.   It's seemed like the local and tourist hang-out. Feels like a big beer hall. It's one of the few spots that is consistently open until 12am. Simple menu with fresh fish. We ordered the sea bass and it was delicious. Came simply prepared with boiled potatoes; we also ordered a large mixed green salad and it was a nice, fairly healthy little meal. The cutest older gentleman was playing soft rock hits on the keyboard until close. Don't come expecting a fancy, gourmet meal. Small town charm and decent food open late.
