  I had the lunch menu. It had some very good butter, bread and oliven. I then had my first stuffed squid/octopus (can't remember). The wine was good and suitable for the food.   We enjoyed dinner here. We order the special appetizer, which was shredded beef (stew like), this was one of the best beef dishes I have eaten. The fried squid was good, the squash salad with goat cheese was a work of art, so delicate, so enjoyable. The chicken curry with rice, catch of the day and the pork belly were great dishes as well.   We had a fantastic dinner here! I made the reservation from Sintra, so I had no idea where the restaurant was located. We walked from our hotel and the area that the restaurant is located in is not the most picturesque area of Logos so we almost passed it by, but I’m very glad we didn’t! The food is fabulous. We started out with the pate and bread. The bread is a rye based sour dough and the pate is delicious and not overly livery tasting. We also had the beef carpaccio for a starter (don’t judge us!) which was delicious. For the entree I had the fish of the day (durada), amazing! My wife had the pork belly. Best pork belly I have ever tasted… I’m usually not a fan bc it’s usually mostly fat. This had lots of meat and a crispy skin served on a sweet potato purée. The wine we had was perfect with both meals (see pics). Raphael was our server and he did an excellent job. I would highly recommend eating here!   For lunch I ordered the carpaccio. My companion the pasta for her child and to share we took the lunch menu including Couvert and drink. We chose a kind of parmigiana. The sauce of the pasta really didn't taste good but the child seemed to like it. The carpaccio was tasty, although it was more of a pastrami, with about 6 slices and nice garnish. The eggplant dish with parmesan, rice and salad did not convince me. The eggplant was bland, the parmesan not particularly tasty and the rice dry. The side salad was good though. The waitress was really on their toes and we received excellent service. I liked the ambiance and felt comfortable. Unfortunately, the food was very heavy in our stomachs. What was really very good was the white chocolate mousse! My conclusion: I would eat something else from the menu again, but not from the lunch menu.   We were recommended this restaurant by friends. Whilst it was a little outside of the centre, it was well worth the 10-minute walk. The service was very warm and welcoming and the food was outstanding. We shared some of the tapas style starters - the tamarind chicken wings were amazing, as were the crispy squid strips and the goat cheese with chilli jam. The catch of the day was dorado and was beautifully cooked and served with crushed potatoes and samphire. My partner had the shrimp risotto which was also excellent.   Among my most favourite restaurants in Lagos! We accidentally found it and made sure to book a table for dinner. The restaurant is more on the expensive side, but for a good reason. The top quality food with a nice twist and bouquet of flavours! Excellent team work, attentive staff and delightful atmosphere.   Nice atmosphere and service, food presentation also good, however quality to my taste is so so. Cod with Kale was as too me, too dry, chewy with fish taste over powering everything else. My wife had pork belly, and we expected something melting in the mouth, but instead, it was also quite chewy, salty without much of the pork belly taste. Since many people find this food delicious (based on previous reviews), and maybe it is traditionally how it is supposed to be cooked, this is our personal a d unbiased opinion. The food was incrediblely well presented, and packed full of flavour. We had a tapas each and a main, followed by a digestif, all delicious!   The most overpriced and overrated place I have been in Portugal so far. Micro portions for a really high price and the quality is not worth it. They charged 5.90 EUROS for a glass of an average red wine!!! Incredible… I don’t recommend it at all and will never come back. I give two starts because the service was OK.   Amazing food, wine and attentive staff that was very accommodating for our family of four. We had the beef carpaccio, pork belly and catch of the day and everything was sublime. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 was a few inconveniences / irks towards the end of the meal. Mr wife accidentally spilled her port and although they helped clean it up, did not offer a replacement (whether we payed for it or not). Additionally, once the bill came, we were charged for two bottles waters when we ordered tap water. Only when questioned, were we told they don't offer tap water but took one of them off the bill. Additionally, We were over charged for the port that my wife had spilled and was corrected only when mentioned. Other then these irks, the restaurant was great!   We went here for the tapas on a recommendation. We ordered 6 tapas in total for 2 of us. Highlights were the pork tacos which were a special, and the burrata which were quite good. The prawn polenta, and crab cakes were decent also although not spectacular. Fish soup was soup of the day and was not my favorite. The service was great, the gentleman were helpful and regularly filling our water and wine and food came promptly. If the prices were not so high I might have been more forgiving on the food but it was a rather expensive dinner compared to other very good food we have had in Lagos. The room is bright but not too bright, the decor is warm and pleasing to the eyes, the staff is friendly, helpful, and very professional. The drink selection is great. This year, took nearly 10 mins to be brought water, portion sizes have shrunk considerably and prices were very high. To top it off my partner was sick and I felt ill all night.   We were very excited for Tasca Jota having read some amazing reviews. The service was ok, they had come back to tell me the fish of the day wasn't available 15 mins after ordering but the young gent serving was polite and kind. Starters were incredible- crab truffles and goats cheese were absolutely amazing. Seafood linguini and Shrimp Risotto were pretty bland. Overall we were pretty disappointed which was a real shame.   The restaurant is beautiful and is very inviting. The menu is quite limited and there is very little in the way of child friendly food. The menu seems like it is heavily prepped in advance so requests could not be accommodated. It is a great date night spot but it just didn’t work for us as a family. They serve filtered tap water at the table and we were charged over €8 for water glasses that were filled up often by the waiters. However fast the water service was, the actual service for requests - drinks etc, was quite slow. Not too bad if you’re having a nice relaxing meal. Sadly, as we were dining as a family, we found ourselves wanting to leave quite quickly. Our children are very well behaved so that wasn’t an issue - it was just not the vibe for us. The cheesecake was absolutely brilliant. Don’t think twice about going if you’re a party of adults. It’s lovely.   Our best meal in Lagos! Make a reservation in advance, we tried to go back on our last day without a reservation and couldn’t get a table. We loved the appetizers the most. The crab croquettes are very good, calamari may be the best I ever had. The stir fry beef was pretty good too. For the mains, my boyfriend got the chicken stew and it was AMAZING. I got the braised beef and it was also delicious, but his was better. The service is also great! The staff is very friendly and they even give you some bread and spreads for free.   This could potentially be one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Literally every dish we ordered was incredible. We came for lunch and then ended up coming back the next day for dinner. Highly recommend ordering some of the tapas before your main course. We tried the cod ceviche which was incredible the scrambled eggs with Portuguese sausage and the calamari squid strips and then the next day we also ended up trying the prawn polenta (my personal favorite but everything really was amazing), crab truffles and the octopus carpaccio. Literally everything was to die for. They also had incredible dessert, I recommend the mixed berry cheesecake...and I normally don't even like cheesecake! Finally, i highly recommend getting the catch of the day. Truly delicious. The people are also very friendly and attentive. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and I have a feeling I’ll be thinking about it for a long time.   I ordered the chicken stew for take out. It was one of the most delicious dishes I came across in Lagos, but 1. chicken was not stewed, 2. there were no plantains in there as indicated. I think the chefs here are probably very talented and this restaurant deserves a try. But still we should be told about changes to our dishes beforehand.   Ok place with decent food. The chef himself / herself carries this restaurant and for that we are thankful - great food. We ordered octopus carpaccio, “catch of the day”, and slow cooked beef. Great taste and lovely presentation. One of the missing stars is due to the floor staff who although well spoken were a bit careless. We waited very long for them to come by to take our order (while we were the only ones there!), as well as bring the food or anything else. They also forgot to bring a dish that we ordered… Luckily this was just a side; but no issues here as these kind of things are only human. The other missing star is due to the blunt desserts and overpriced items. We did enjoy our meal, but would most likely go somewhere else next time, as we’ve had better, for less, in a more enjoyable place. Our server Carla was amazing and engaging. The octopus carpaccio and the crab truffle was innovative and mouth watering. We then split the pork belly with the salted vegetable and finished off with the mixed berrie cheesecake .. this is one of the most memorable culinary experiences we have had in Portugal .. as we say in the United States this place was a home run..   Unfortunately did not have a great experience at Tasca Jota. First, the waiting time for the food was incredibly long although we arrived at 9:30pm in the evening (more than 1h). Then the place itself was super loud which made it difficult to communicate with other people. I can't really say anything good about the service either, which wasn't even close to being nice and attentive. The food was still good, hence the 3 stars. We will not return.   It's a hidden gem, just outside the old town. Strongly recommend. It's rather unassuming from the outside but lovely once inside with an excellent friendly team of servers.The food was out of this world. Best I had during my 10 days in Portugal. We had 5 tapas style plates to share, coffee and a few drinks each and it came to €50. We were completely stuffed Highly recommend!!!   What an absolute gem to discover just a short stroll from the main town centro district! Service and staff were wonderful as was the Vino Verde Rose. The fish is so fresh and tasty and all served beautifully! Octopus Carpaccio, Cod Ceviche, Crab Truffles, Black Linguine Seafood and Shrimp Risotto are all divine! Don’t miss this little treat of a restaurant! And make sure you start (or finish) with an espresso martini and hit up a selection of the desserts! Yummy! We ordered the octopus carpaccio, the cod ceviche, crab truffles with aioli and romesco sauce to start with and the catch of the day and black linguini sea food as a main, a bottle of wine and for dessert the white chocolat mousse and two glasses of Porto wine! Honestly, I can't choose the best dish among these, as being all tasty, made with genuine and fresh ingredients and presented in a beautiful manner! Really good value for money (the menu with the price can be found on the official site), the staff was polite and helpful and the environment very pleasant! (Second reservation already made!)   I am a massive foodie and this place is well worth the visit. We had the shrimps to start, they were tiger prawns more like... in the most amazing ginger, garlic, white wine sauce. The for mains, my girlfriend had the pasta - Rigatoni, chorizo which had a deep tomatoe sauce with it. I had the pork belly, with purple sweet potatoe mash, cabbage and apple. Then dessert, the white chocolate mousse dish and the baileys chocolate cake (torte). That white chocolate mousse is something else. They have a great selection of wines to accompany.   We really don't get why this restaurant has such a high rating. Non of our food was great. For example, the pasta was over cooked, the "hand-cut" fries were not hand-cut and unsalted and hummus and cheviche didn't work well together. We recommend to eat somewhere else.   Outstanding food and value with top shelf service. Went big with the bread and chicken salad/pate/honey butter to start followed by crab croquettes, pork belly with grilled pear then cheesecake. Was way more food then I needed but I had to eat every bite. All in with a glass of wine and a bottle of still water I came in at 35€. Food was all outstanding. Pork belly dish is quite rich and filling. Only complaint is that the cheesecake is served in a jar which made it impossible to lick clean and it is dangerously close to my house.   We loved this place! The best of all our meals in Lagos (all were good). A very unassuming restaurant with friendly and attentive staff. Tasty sounding menu and we weren’t disappointed. Crab croquettes were a great starter and the slow cooked beef and turbot (fish of the day) were perfect - lovely ingredients and cooked well.   Ending our final night in Portugal with the BEST food to date during our 8 day holiday. I've never had black linguine before, and wow, it blew my mind. If you like mousse, try the white chocolate one, tastes so beautiful. Had a 3 course meal- which came to around €32 euros per head- WELL worth it.   We were actually recommended this restaurant by a local whilst spending a couple of nights in Albufeira. We visited Albufeira, Portimão and Lagos over a week. This was by far the best place, the food was extremely tasty, the place itself is also quite beautiful and the service was fantastic.   Located up the hill a bit from the main downtown area in Lagos; it is quite good. The salted cod had good feedback from the folks I ate with. I had the black linguine & sea food (which comes with mussels, shrimp and octopus) in a rose type sauce. It was very good and I would recommend trying it! The cheesecake with berries was also quite good.   Fast service, but maybe too fast. Felt a little rushed. Our table was also very very close to the one next to us... Not exactly intimate! The food was OK but not huge portions. The "homecut chips" were just standard French fries. The goats cheese was just goats cheese on a plate with some chilli jam - would have been nicer baked or served with bread. The starter selection of pate and bread was small - two slices of bread. The prawn polenta was beautifully tasty though! If I went back I would not have Tapas.   Great restaurant, one of the best in Lagos. Good atmosphere, service with a big smile, and the food was delicious! Moderately priced but the quality of the food was exquisite.   Just had a dinner with my wife and two kids tonight at Tasca Jota and initially was very excited to eat here based on reviews, but left disappointed overall. Kids options are not listed on menu which made no sense and overall even though it is a nice environment it does not compare it the traditional Portuguese restaurant. As advertised it is modern twist, but people come to Portugal for traditional. I regret bringing my family here. Menu is minimal and wording is not clear. Overall, it appears they try to capitalize on tourists. Never in my life have I come to Portugal and paid so much for a meal. Somewhat ridiculous. I only have my self to blame.   My husband and I visited this place today and went all in for a three course meal. The food was delicious and the desserts were amazing-defo need to leave room for dessert. The service and friendly staff added to the relaxed ambiance. The food was fresh and came in good time. We booked and I reccomend this - especially in peak times. We got the squid and goats cheese for starters, black linguine with seafood, braised beef for mains and the mousse and chocolate cake to finish.   Superb food and service Food was superb. Starting with, snack food: bread and the house selection: doritos-like crunchy bread and warm bread bun. The mixed cheese with cured meat and the mayo were very good to keep us entertained while waiting. Crispy squid, ibérico pork loin strips and chicken wings. The squid was very good, texture and the dipping sauce was great. The pork loin was tender and fresh, with herbs, white wine, lemon and apple sauce, to keep it fresh and light on your palate. The wings were very flavourful, a bit on the dry side (maybe) but very nice taste, can't really fault them. After that we had the mackerel and steak tartar, both finger-licking good!!! The mackerel melts in your mouth, accompanied by slow fried onion and peppers in white wine and lemon sauce. The waiter mixed the steak tartar with the egg yolk and mustard in front of us. Everyone was very, very, very nice. They all spoke English. In fact, one of them speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese. The other one speaks English, German (he spoke to the table next to us) and Portuguese, obviously.   Wonderful tapas restaurant in Lagos. It was a short walking distance from our hostel and was on a street with many other restaurants. We sat outside and received excellent service.   My family and I came here on a Tuesday night after making reservations. We arrived around 8pm, and waited for almost 20 minuets just to get the menus, we only got them after asking. Same for the wine menu. It took way too much time for the main courses to arrive, almost 45 minuets after finishing the starters. The food was good except for the cod which was overcooked and we asked to return it. The staff wasn't really nice and they didn't even apologize for the bad service.   Lovely service. Very quick for the food to arrive. Price was fair, especially for wine. The only slight disappointment was the olives (slightly too bitter for our taste), and the steak and chips arrived braised in a sauce. This was still tasty, but not what we expected so might need to be explained in the menu. Otherwise excellent, especially the tapas. Loved the crab truffles, the incredible crispy squid and the beautiful prawns. The chicken wings were particularly tasty. I could have eaten loads of them. We had a wonderful evening.   Loved this place. It's a bit outside of town so it is seemingly less expensive/crowded. But the food and service were delightful!   Amazing restaurant with super friendly staff. We arrived at 6 and every table was reserved but he slipped us in because we were there before the reserved hour. We had 8 different tapas and they were all above and beyond what I expected. If you like high quality food at very reasonable prices you must go here. However, as we were leaving the patrons that had made reservations started arriving and you could see the service slowing down. It's impossible to have a good flow of food when a restaurant goes from one table to completely full in 15 min with everyone wanting to be served instantly and ordering tables full of tapas.
