  Pequeno lanche vegano. A batata-doce estava muito boa, mas nada excepcional. Infelizmente, o hambúrguer foi bastante decepcionante. Foram servidos um arroz com pãozinho do supermercado, uma fatia de tomate, uma folha de alface e uma maionese pronta. Havia batatas fritas congeladas como acompanhamento. Por mais de 14€ esperávamos muito mais. A atmosfera e a equipe definitivamente têm potencial para isso. Que pena, na verdade!

  Vegan food can be so awesome. But this was uninspired and tasteless. We waited 45 minutes even though there was only one other party present.   Cute little cafe in the centre of Faro with a lovely owner who was friendly and sweet. Onion rings were delicious as was the vegan pastel de nata. And the burgers come with yummy fries too!   Atmosphere is fine and service is super super nice however I was not pleased by the food. Buns were super cold and dry, the No Chicken patty was flavourless, Black Hole burger was saved by added cheese. Fries were thin like a paper. Had few days in Faro so wanted to try different thing everyday but on day two tried Vegalhau and that's it... Had it every day for the rest of my stay. Just AMAZING!   The place might not look like the fanciest from the outside but if you go in and see the menu you'll be amazed. There is an entire "buffet" with traditional Portuguese cuisine made vegan. We ordered small bites of everything with a salad on the side and it was filling!   It’s a shame to leave such a bad review, and I want to support independent businesses wherever possible but this was a really poor standard. Vegan box menu is almost entirely burgers.. what they served was not a burger. We ordered a Seitana burger which was just a thin piece of heavily processed bought fake meat that was cold in a dry oversized sandwich (not burger) bun with basic salad. We also ordered the chicken free which was a tasteless mushy chicken replacement in a very large dry sandwich bun. Either Vegan Box sort out their standards and serve their customers with what they advertise or… don’t go and put your money into one of the many other lovely restaurants in the area. Felt genuinely ripped off and they took my money and ran. O menu vegano é quase inteiramente composto por hambúrgueres.   O restaurante é inicialmente discreto e não atraente à primeira vista. Os hambúrgueres e batatas fritas estavam muito saborosos, mas uma bebida não estava incluída no preço e por isso paguei um total de 17€, o que considero um pouco demais. Provámos 4 sobremesas diferentes e infelizmente não gostamos de nenhuma, principalmente das Natas. No entanto, o proprietário foi super simpático e muito atencioso e fez você se sentir confortável. Ótima seleção vegana e ainda posso recomendá-la.

  I visited Vegan Box for the first time last year. The food wasn't 5 stars, and I even found blue hair on the vegalhau. The second time, a year later, I wanted to give them another chance. I ordered the black hole burger, and it didn't taste bad; the fries were good, but... I got the worst food poisoning. If the intention was to take me into a black hole after eating this burger.... It worked. I've been vegan for 8 years and am shocked as i never had food poisoning before. Now, looking back, the food on display doesn't look well refrigerated or fresh, and the place looks dirty. I feel so naive for having eaten there then, even though the site doesn't look food-safe. It's sad to say it about a vegan business, but they need to revamp their whole place to achieve the bare minimum health safety standard. Otherwise, avoid it at all costs.   What an amazing find! I had the vegan fish and my husband had the sweet potato dish. Both were amazing and you get so much for your money! The little guy serving and cooking the food was so lovely and you could tell a lot of love had gone into the food. We had two pieces of cake for afters; the oreo cake and the biscuit cake. Both were equally as fabulous. 2 meals, 2 drinks and 2 pieces of cake was 33 euros which is so cheap!! Take your plates down for the man cooking, it's the least you can do after an amazing meal!   Don't understand the high rating for this place. I ordered food for two persons which came cold, even though the restaurant was only 3km away. Both the fungi burger and seitan burger honestly smelled and tasted like vomit. The pastries were soggy and didn't taste fresh. We ate half of the food and threw away the rest of it, which honestly I never do. It's not cheap either so what a waste. One star. They do have a card machine and we were able to get a takeaway. We also bought their homemade herb cheese.   Tldr: All in all, I like the idea behind the restaurant, but the poor execution and the high prices of the main dishes turn this place into a great example of how not to run a vegan restaurant. So far that's the only vegan place I found in Faro and it was disappointing. I've to say that the staff is really friendly. The snacks they offer, like the quiche, were delicious and affordable. However, the main dishes were a disappointment. They definitely weren't what you expect from restaurant level food, especially if you have to pay restaurant prices. The portions were rather small and did not seem to correspond to the prices at all. The taste was just ok-ish, nothing to write home about. It's a shame, the pictures from other reviews looked so good.   We’ve been in Portugal for a week and have had some difficulty finding vegetarian options, much less vegan. We found Vegan Box tonight, and it was absolutely perfect. We tried the veg-version of a cod dish, stuffed sweet potato, and veg burger, plus apps, plus desserts… 😳 Everything was truly delicious. The owner was our server, and she was very helpful and kind. The place was clean and sweetly decorated, and they even carry a few homemade products. Even if you’re not a vegetarian/vegan, you’ll really enjoy this place - highly recommend! Another plus side is that dogs are allowed inside, which is not that common in the area. Finding vegan options is also difficult so I was very happy to come across this place. The vegan croquet was cold and tasted like something made few days before. This wasn’t enough: burgers come cold too, buns and chips from a big plastic bag.   The place is so nice, cheap and vegan! Although, my seitan burger wasn't tasty at all :(( I could only feel the disgusting taste of carmelized onion. It killed other flavours, I couldn't feel the taste of seitan. However, the dish my partner ordered was quite good and the desserts too.   Had the vegan Vegalhau with salad and a vegan Pastel de Nata(!!) with coffee. All super tasty and high quality, my stomache can be sensitive, stomache super happy after eating here, very nice ambiente, some mild incense burning by the door, very pleasant and friendly staff.   I give it 5 stars because it is SO great to have a vegan place in Faro with a nice choice of dishes! Do try their mashed sweet potato dish and chocolate salami for dessert - these are amazing!! Really very good. Empanadas are good too. The burger is OK as others have mentioned.   The burger was very sad, just a bun with 2 slices of tomato, some salad, “caramelised” onions and a super dry, small and not-tasty-at-all burger patty - that’s it, no sauce or anything. The side was just a handful of chips that you buy in the supermarket. The starters were served completely cold. The taste was not bad but could have been much better if served warm, especially because they were pre-fried. The meal was cheap, but I definitely wouldn’t go back for that burger. Hopefully other dishes are better..
