  The best food experience I had in Lisbon. I had grilled fish with vegetables and finally got not boiled vegetables like in a lot of Portuguese restaurants, but nicely cooked ones.   Convidei a família para almoçar neste restaurante, o qual tinha feito reserva mas o atendimento foi muito lento. O menu não é muito variado e não percebo o motivo da comida ter demorado tanto tempo. A fome já apertava e quando chegaram as doses, a sua apresentação e quantidade não fizeram arregalar os olhos de alegria. O arroz de pato foi servido numa frigideira em que o arroz estava todo colado à frigideira e uma perna de pato jazia em cima do arroz. Foi preciso proceder a raspagem para retirar os míseros bagos de arroz. Quem escolheu outras iguarias teve mais sorte, principalmente quem escolheu o bacalhau à brás.

  I didn't expect to be everything great. The food was great, delicious, we even order more of what we didn't intend. The wine choice was great and the service was welcoming.   All the food, service and ambience was great! Small but great and diverse menu. I had the salmorejo (starter) that was very good but personally I found it quite strong flavour and slightly salty. As a main I had bacalhau à Brás, that was great! The arroz de corvina was very good too, flavours were well balanced. As dessert I had the chocolate mousse and it was so tasty, would maybe share and it’s a very good portion. I found the prices slightly high however, considering all the service and quality of the food/drinks it’s more than worth it! I’ll definitely come back! Highly recommend to book a table in advance!   This is an absolute hidden gem! We didn’t have a reservation but the accommodating manager gave us the opportunity to sit outside - which was just as pleasant! We got to know about the concept (food cooked with love, just like a mother does) and the changing menu. We picked the tuna tacos and the pani puri for starters, as well as the prawn rice with fish on top for mains. For drinks we picked the sangria and the cucumber sour. This was undoubtedly one of the best meals we have had while visiting Lisbon. The fish was always perfectly cooked, soft and served in an inviting and innovative way. The main course was especially comforting with a twist of sophistication. The drinks had a smooth mouthfeel with undertones of flavor - especially the sangria with undertones of grapefruit, cinnamon and mint. To top it all, the service was absolutely on point.   Amazing food, I wish it existed 10 years ago, when I worked nearby... The food is simply amazing. Not "to the letter" traditional dishes, but traditional high quality ingredients with a modern twist. We booked and arrived early for lunch, but it was full when we left, so probably a good idea to book a table. The "bacalhau à bras" had high quality fish on top (not common) and a kind of ham made with veal and was super tasty. The "queijinho do ceu" was super sweet and tasty, and we could tell super fresh. Service was super nice too. I went back recently, tried the octopus and the chocolate mousse and they were great too. Also found out how they get all the photos on the wall (ask them about it). The octopus, croquettes, bacalhau a bras and the garlic prawns were absolutely impeccable!!! 👌 The meat dishes however fell short as they were swimming in overwhelmingly sweet sauces which made it quite hard to finish despite the meat themselves being very tender - I believe that with a little alteration these could also be impeccable! 😊 Space is quite nice and well lit, and seems to be really great for groups!   We went with a big group, and were told that we could only have the tasting menu, as all the orders for group that size would make it difficult for the kitchen to tend to the other customers... We went for it anyway and, food wise, we were not disappointed in the least. The tasting menu is a very complete one - you're guaranteed not to leave hungry, quite on the contrary - and the food is great. All in all, a great experience.   I was a bit disappointed by the food. The steak was sliced way too thin and was well done, even though I ordered medium rare. The croquet was ok, but average in Portugal and for the price certainly below expectations. The salad felt like a dessert since it had so much honey.   Best meal of the week. Advise booking, full the first night we went. Staff are all brilliant, food so well cooked. Menus explained, wine recommended, these guys know their stuff.   We found this gem on our last day in Lisbon and we wish we found it earlier. We LOVED this place. If you are a foodie than this is a must try place.   Amazing! This is our first time visiting Portugal, the food is pretty much good everywhere, but service isn’t. Here, though, the service (and food) were outstanding! The menu was only available in Portuguese; we don’t speak Portuguese, but our server explained the entire menu to us in English. Next, they were out of the sardines my wife had ordered. But, our server still brought out a small portion of the sardines for us to try as just enough was left for a half portion, but not full. The rest of our dishes were amazing, really the best food we’ve had in a few years (we’re from the US so we’ve really missed good food during covid).   Amazing food and service. Although there were many empty tables inside, I was told they were all reserved so I just sat outside. The waiter came back shortly after and let me know there was a table available and I could sit inside. They only had the menu written in Portuguese so the waiter brought it with him and patiently explained every dish on it in English! I ordered some fried beans, clams, cod? fish and fries. The beans were perfectly seasoned and crunchy. The clams were fresh and perfectly balanced and had a freshness coming from herbs and lime. Oh but the fish, the main course!! Cooked to perfection, the flesh was so tender and flaky, with the skin nicely torched and crispy. The fries were also very crispy on the outside but tender inside with good seasoning. O garçom voltou logo depois e me avisou que havia uma mesa disponível e eu poderia sentar lá dentro. Eles só tinham o cardápio escrito em português, então o garçom trouxe com ele e explicou pacientemente cada prato em inglês! Pedi feijão frito, amêijoas, bacalhau? peixe e batatas fritas. Os grãos estavam perfeitamente temperados e crocantes. As amêijoas eram frescas e perfeitamente equilibradas e tinham uma frescura proveniente das ervas e da lima. Ah, mas o peixe, prato principal!! Cozida com perfeição, a polpa era muito macia e escamosa, com a pele bem tostada e crocante. As batatas fritas também estavam muito crocantes por fora, mas macias por dentro e com bom tempero.   Considering it’s rated higher than my favorite Sem Duvida expectations were high. I must say I have visited it only once (you have to book, it seems very popular). I asked what is the best dish on the menu and they recommended octopus. Great, I have already tried some fantastic octopus (polvo a lagareiro) at Sem Duvida, Polvo Vadio and five other places so would be easy to compare. I must say if it was the first time I tried the dish I’d love it. But unfortunately it just wasn’t as good to my taste as at other places. My bad as this was the best food and experience we had in Lisbon and we had many. Măe, or mother in Portuguese, is the perfect gourmet neighborhood restaurant. Service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. We are heading back to Lisbon in a few weeks and Măe will be on our list!   Mae cozhina com amor met and exceeded all of our expectations. We had a nice long walk from Graca, north then west and we were hungry as expected. The food didn't disappoint and the service was excellent. My wife wants to return soon and we will add pictures and comments after the second try at this establishment.   Bit far from town centre, this lovely place exists. It is the most wonderful restaurant I have been in Lisbon. The food was really good, service was warm and welcoming, dessert was divine.   This is an amazing little restaurant! It has fantastic cuisine! And excellent service. I have eaten at many wonderful restaurants in the USA and Europe on my travels, including famous restaurants like Gordon Ramsey's place in NYC, and this was definitely some of the best food I have ever eaten, besides Mom's.   I cannot recommend this place enough. Not only is the food delicious, inventive and made with fresh ingredients, but it is also prepared with love and attention. The atmosphere is intimate and well away from the throng of tourists. What's more, the servers really care that the clientele enjoy the experience.   Mãe is a place inspired on everyone's mother in general and the owners' in particular. It has a relaxed mood, friendly and professional staff. We had the shrimp and avocado bruschetta (could've been spicy), the fava beans with farinheira (excellent), some original rabbit chamuças (yum) and the monkish rice (super).
