After hearing great things about this restaraunt we decided to take a visit on a non busy Tuesday night. There were multiple signs that the restaraunt was open and people were eating inside and the front door was open. It looked like it was only locals as several patrons laughed at us waiting for the main host to sit us while he ignored us. The host made eye contract several times with us and never made an attempt to sit us and we ultimately had to leave after waiting over ten minutes. We found by accident we were in the area and fancied tapas and Google review was good so we tried it. It was so lovely we went back again. The waiter was lovely explaining every dish, I had the full bodied red wine which was very nice. We all loved the garlic prawns and you def need to order bread to dip in the sauce. The first time I had it without chilli which I loved the second time my daughter ordered with chilli I thought it too spicy for me but my partner and daughter loved it still. The steaks were lovely as was the beef. The portions are large you will def leave feeling full we never made it to pudding but excellent service would recommend. Recommended by a local but it turned out to be slightly disappointing. The swordfish and tuna ceviche was great, but the prawns with olive oil and garlic didn't seem fresh with the heads falling off. I had an enjoyable enough experience as a solo diner on a Saturday lunch, but would probably not be back unless I want to give the meat dishes a chance. We were lucky to get a table on a walk-in bases at Da Prata 52 during our visit to Lisbon. This place seems very popular so it would be best to try and make a reservation (if possible!). Da Prata 52 do small plates of food and it is recommended to order at least 2 per person, while varying it up so everyone can sample everything. We ordered the octopus risotto, the prawn in garlic & olive oil, pork cheek in wine, the codfish cakes and for dessert, we got the Molotov. The octopus risotto is a must-try, very flavourful and the octopus was cooked just right. The prawns and the codfish cakes were both super savoury and well-seasoned too. The pork cheeks with the velvety mashed potatoes were super tender. Finally, our Molotov dessert was wonderful. We got spiced lentil balls on the house which were divine. We really had an enjoyable time at Da Prata 52 not only because of the fantastic food but also, the friendly, efficient service. We’d happily eat at Da Prata 52 again next time we visit Lisbon! We were very fortunate to get a table without having a reservation (arrived around 7pm). I highly recommend getting a reservation but if you can't, they're very good about trying to get you in. We ordered most of the recommended dishes (we didn't get the octopus risotto or pork cheeks but they were highly recommended). We ate the fried green beans, roasted vegetables, house specialty steak and scallops. The steak and scallops were the best thing we had eaten thus far while in Portugal. I think it's going to be hard for other restaurants to cook better but we look forward to trying! Very tasty food and very friendly staff. We tried several dishes. The shrimp, cod cake and the pork cheek in red wine were really amazing. A bit tight in space, and slightly uncomfortable chairs (doesn’t really matter though). Unreasonably pricy, I think fair price for each food is 8-10 euros, but they charge 40% more. Some of the best food we tried in Lisbon. Though it may seem a bit "touristy", it's anything but in terms of flavour. From the pork cheek to the prawns to the cod, everything sung with flavour. Tourist trap! Since the comments were exceptionally good, we decided to go. The experience is not worth it. First, they don't let you in without listening to the "rules" which are basically that you have to order 2 half dishes (10-18€ each half dish!) per person if not you can't eat there. Second, when we arrived we were 2, but we were waiting for a third person, they didn't let us wait in a table for her... The food was really average, nothing to remember really. Wow! We loved this place so much that 2 out of the 3 days we stayed in Lisbon we had our lunch there. Each dish was so delicious, we tried out quite a few, but I can confidently say that the Pica-Pau (diced beef in traditional sauce) was our absolute favourite! Meat was medium rare, very tender and cooked in such a heavenly sauce. Staff were super nice, very attentive and presented the food carefully in detail. Months later and I’m still thinking about the incredible meal here. We shared many dishes including a ceviche with passion fruit, goat croquettes, garlic shrimp and the black pork cheek. The service was amazing, we were welcomed by the door by friendly gentleman and he explained the concept of the restaurant very clearly and nicely. Inside was very cozy decorated and our table and seats were super comfortable. They explained us the menu and even gave us some good recommendations. We were really excited to try this place cuz of so many raving reviews. But the experience was overpriced and very disappointing. The place was a bit weird from the start. Before they let us enter, they said we must order 2 small plates each. Ok sure. The food came and it was alright. Nothing outstanding. Definitely not quality enough to justify the price (over €10 per small plate). The worst bit was the swordfish steak that my friend got. It was wayyyy too salty. They redid the dish twice. Insisting on the last time there was no added salt at all. They lied. It tasted as if the whole fish was marinated in salt. They insist their catch is fresh but I am not convinced. I think the swordfish steak was marinated in salt for a reason (preservation lol). The wait staff were pretty rude about it. Not allowing us to change the dish after the first complaint and insisting we can only have the overly salty swordfish. Personally, i had the tuna passionfruit tartar. We also think it's probably just a little overpriced for the type of dinner they offer (small portions, with the intention of getting at least 2 dishes per person and to share with the other people at the table). After waiting in the queue for 30 minutes at 9pm on Saturday evening, I think we ordered the wrong food. The restaurant has a weird policy that you must order two dishes per person. Actually three between two would have worked for us. We ordered both croquettes, game and goat, both of which were okay, but nothing like the magical taste explosion we experienced elsewhere. A cod and bread and olive oil thing with an egg yolk that should have been incredible but was not. It was cod light and bread heavy. We could not finish it. The waiter warned us that it had a “strong” taste. It didn’t, but now we understand “strong” meant that we shouldn’t ordered it. Useful tip for next time. Simply the best meal we had in Lisbon this week and we’ve tried many of the top ones. It was totally unexpected just down from our hotel. We came in early so the queues didn’t start to form just yet. Everything we tried was just unbelievable. It made us laugh it made us cry it brought up emotions that only really good food can. Easily the best tapas meal I've ever had. The whole experience was excellent.....had to wait a few minutes outside to be seated but not long at all. The food was delicious and our waiter explained each dish we picked in detail, you can tell they genuinely love the food they serve. We had 5 dishes and a glass of wine which came to 55 euros. Would highly recommend the sausage, fried chicken, and both shrimp dishes but from our experience it would be hard to go wrong here. Odd setup when it came to entering the restaurant and getting a table, the restaurant itself is barricaded and eventually someone comes over to ask if you would like to dine there. Be warned there is a minimum order of dishes per person 2! Admittedly once we made it in they were very friendly and efficient but it provided a hostile start, thankfully this was rectified by the small, quaint and full atmosphere. Wine list was extensive but the real highlight was this Portuguese style tapas which featured not only a number of good vegetarian options but provided some of the best fish cakes and croquettes I’ve ever sampled. A wonderful and memorable experience in Lisbon. The quality of both food and service was absolutely remarkable. I ordered Marinated tuna with passion fruit and Grilled black angus picanha and both were fantastic. The wine was excellent. When eating I strongly believe that service is an important part of the experience. The waiter was so rude to us we ended up leaving, which never happened to me before! They suggested two plates per person, stressing on the word suggested. And we started ordering with the idea of tasting different plates and if we were still hungry, ordering more. We were rudely told that we had to order two plates per person, that because they had smaller plates that didnt mean we had to spend less money. Great Portuguese-style tapas, with a slightly hipster vibe, but don't let put you off. Everything is delicious and the staff are all really friendly, passionate about their food and wine, and keen to make you feel at home and relaxed while they share it with you. Specials and specialities are worth a try. Scallops, Thai mushrooms, beef with garlic butter, game croquetas were excellent...and barnacles. They were bewildering, but they said "don't worry, if it's your first time (hands up if you've had them before!) we'll show you how it's done". Cheery, delicious and well worth going. First off, the food here was great. We ordered the fried chicken, octopus risotto, codfish cakes, and spiced lentil balls, all were very good. They were all well-seasoned, not too oily, and came with tasty dipping sauces. Other than the food though, the experience was disappointing. There is a long list of rules at the entrance to the restaurant, such as 1) you have to order 2 plates per person, 2) no outside water allowed - you have to pay, 3) no snacks are served, etc… I’ve never experienced these sort of rules in a restaurant before, and they came off as arrogant especially when the restaurant was barely half full. I also found the servers to be unwelcoming and rude, especially when I said I didn’t order anything to drink. Prices were also very high given the very small portions. I was aware before going to the restaurant that the portions were small, but the prices seemed very high given these sizes, relative to other restaurants in the area. The waiters are very attentive and explain how the menu works, as well as give recommendations on what to order and how much depending on your group size. From cozy ambience to friendly staff and the most delicious food, it’s difficult to find anything to fault here. We decided to have our final meal in Lisbon here and we are so glad we did. The restaurant offers tapas style small plates, allowing you to try a diverse array of dishes - perfect for travellers who want to experience Lisbon’s culinary culture in the limited time they have. Though they do require you to order at least two plates per head, this is hardly a requirement. There were so many dishes that we wanted to try and we ended up sharing 8 dishes between the three of us because the food was so good! The food was all very tasty. We ordered the black pork cheeks in red wine, absolutely delicious, the meat was as tender as it can get, and packed with savor, and the mashed potatoes were silky. The codfish cakes were really good. We ordered the sirloin steak Da Prata 52 and flavor wise it was fantastic, but the meat was tough and also the rest of the plate was lukewarm. I understand that the temperature of the meat was medium rare, but the side was not hot. The grilled angus picanha tasted terrific, but would have expected an angus cut to be more tender. Side also lukewarm. As I have mentioned in my reviews before I like my food hot when it is supposed to be hot. All in all the flavors were on point, temps need work. Let’s start with the bad, since restaurants usually just answer with “we are glad that you liked it” and totally dismiss the bad. There is a little cart blocking the entrance door, probably to show how difficult it is to enter their premises. The door guy is bold, tattooed and bad tempered, maybe part of the vibe too. Once inside, the next guy is bad tempered too. Maybe they had a bad meeting right before opening. Last bad thing was that 2 out of 4 dishes were cold, unusual in a good restaurant. We came to have dinner twice during our 4 days stay in lisbon because all the tapas we had tasted fantastic. We did not feel like this is a place about which we would be heartbroken if not visited in Lisbon. Comparatively, the price to food quality and quantity is not good. The overall restaurant ambience was not anything exceptional and the place can get quite hot as there was not really functioning AC or windows. When entering we were briefly presented with the menu before letting us in and we were apparently explained the rules, but to be honest it was not very clear nor we paid too much attention as you do not expect a rule of how much food you have to order when going to a restaurant. Due to this, we needed to change from the ‘dining area’ to the ‘snack area’ because we did not order at least 2 meals per person. These rules made us a bit unwelcome and I feel like they are not necessary. Plus, 1 meal with side dish per person was sufficient as a light lunch on a hot day. Moreover, we tried to get in one day and got told they ran out of food and we should try another time. But in few days we went around again and got in. We did not have a bad time and the food was fine, but considering our experience and the way how this place operates is not something we enjoyed. I visited this cute tapas bar on my first day in Lisbon as it was close to my apartment and I am so glad I did. They had no problem to give me a table for 5 people as they had COVID measures in place and wanted to keep enough space between guests. Absolutely delightful, friendly service! And the food was just amazing, so many plates to choose from. Highly recommend the duck breast and garlic prawns, delicious. Dined solo and 2 plates (with a side of fries as they looked to irresistible) were more than enough. Very popular with the officers of the local police station which is a great recommendation and added bonus is you know it's going to be the safest place around. The atmosphere inside was really warm and cozy. The staff were really friendly and most importantly the food was amaizng. They serve in smaller portions with the idea to be able to order more and taste everything. We ordered the curry risotto, grilled sausage (chorizo) with orange reduction, oxtail pastry and other things and everything was really good. You MUST try the grilled sausage with orange reduction. The food was absolutely delicious! The two staff guys were welcoming and friendly. We could order up to two dishes per person and subsequently share the dish. The dish size was perfect for this. Amazing food and exceptional service. We decided to stop here for lunch, ordered 4 small Portuguese style "tapas".
