  This restaurant was amazing. The food was such high quality and so delicious. Our server, Ballantina was lovely and so knowledgeable about the menu. Every dish she recommended was lovely and enjoyable, particularly the octopus, codfish and steak. Would love to have this restaurant nearby at home and highly recommend. We've been visiting Portugal for two weeks and this was our last day. Up to this point everyone was delightful and friendly. A very sour note to end on.   I am originally from Lisbon and went for dinner recently at solar dos bicos with some colleagues from work, who were all foreigners. I absolutely did not appreciate the way we were treated at times - perhaps for being a group of tourists? Too bad I’m a local. Plus, upon our return to our country of residence, we discovered that two extra main dishes have been charged. Must have been the wrong risottos that arrived twice to the table because besides these I have no possible explanation, other than total dishonesty. No plans to come back.   We actually stayed in an apartment above this restaurant. At first we thought we could just grab a quick bite but actually the food was shockingly amazing. We ordered their octopus salad, crispy shrimp, grilled sardines and grilled octopus. We ate here twice and will definitely come back and will recommend to our friends and colleagues if they visit Lisbon. A special mention to the staff who were all really friendly (which redeemed Lisbon from a bad experience we had in a famous peri peri chicken place 😅). This restaurant deserves a 5 star. The dishes were very authentic, fresh, well-seasoned and not overpriced. Hats off to the chef, the owner and to all the staff.   In my experience I think this is a restaurant which focus on Portuguese client rather than tourist. We were with a group of 26 people and the service felt not nice. As if we were bothering them. Food was in some cases ok. I saw a lot of Portuguese families who seemed to enjoy themselves so maybe we were just not the right kind of customer. Not sure. Anyway, as a tourist I believe there are better places to go to.   Food was ok. The waiter (a Bengladeshi man whose name I forgot) was a little bit impatient, fast and distracted. He also made the mistake of bringing the appetizer at the same time as the main dish which ended up getting cold. He also didn’t treat all customers the same, he was more pleasant with some than with others. The older Portuguese guy at the cash register (not sure if he was the manager or the owner) was unpleasant. I will not be going back. I had better customer service from other restaurants.   We were encouraged in from the street and did not regret our decision. First night in Lisbon and despite the rain, wanted to find the right place for dinner. This was not the cheapest but considering the quality of the food, is definitely worth it. We shared a sardine starter and received 5 large fish which were so tasty and the somehow the bones were few and very soft. My main was a massive piece of cod with sauce, lots of julienne vegetables and some crushed potatoes- all incredibly delicious and filling. Charming interior. We have knocked off a star for atmosphere as there was a musician who was allowed to send a partner around the restaurant with a hat for money. This is a personal no for me when I'm in a restaurant. Having said that, my integrity forces me to be honest. It's a great restaurant with solid, friendly, and personal service. The food I received was honestly above expectations and very good (I had the chicken). The prices were good, except for the 10 year old port, which was much cheaper than I expected (and I didn't mind). All in all, it was a good experience.   The food was great and the female server was wonderful. However the manager, maybe, was very pushy and micromanaging all aspects of the meal. At the end of the meal, as we were paying for our meal, the manger (who was literally swiping our card) shouts to the next table if there meal is okay. He then threw the receipt at us and walked off. He quickly returned with fries for the next tables. I made a face at him, because the whole exchange was awkward and rude. He then tried to offer a gift, which I declined.   Came to this restaurant as a first place in trip advisor. The food was pretty good, but waiter gave us ham and cheese that we didn’t order and we’ve considered it as a present but at the end found that in the bill for the extra 20€ that was very weird. The fish was ok, risotto was too sour, only 1 sort of wine they serve in glass. Got our drinks almost at the end of our meal. Dirty toilets without soap. Absolutely don’t recommend this place.   This is the usual tourist trap. Best location with mediocre service and poor overpriced food. I don’t think that anyone in a party of 6 finished their plate. Starters were nice. *edit* Tuna steak was not fresh , the grilled cod was plainly inedible , we didn’t eat two dishes and no one wondered why - I guess this is something that happens often. The 4 cheese pasta had either roquefort or an expired cheese in it , I don’t believe that’s the original recipe. The risotto had too much lemon ?! This is also an original.   We were pleased to find somewhere that offered both steak and a few vegetarian options, as we had been struggling to find this previously. Although it was a bit odd to not be asked how we wanted the steak cooked, food was generally good. Mojito and non-alcoholic mojito were the best we’ve had in Lisbon. The terrace is nice, busy enough to watch the world go by but quiet enough to relax and enjoy your meal. Service left a lot to be desired. The tables are close together and we were often bumped into by waiters with no apology. When the waiter took our plates, he seemed offended that we didn’t finish the egg with the steak and pointed out a few times that it was left, despite us saying we were finished. Waiters struggled to remember whose food and drink was whose, despite there only being a few tables occupied.   The restaurant was beautiful. We did a reservation before and it was worth it. All the waiters have such a nice energy, and even though they spoke Portuguese, you could communicate with them. We decided to go to the restaurant after multiple people told us to visit during our trip and they were right about it being a beautiful and delicious experience. We were even introduced by our waiter Joy to the chef Jose. The chef was super nice and we ended up talking for up to 30 minutes just about his experience in the restaurant industry and how much he cares for the restaurant in the end would recommend and it’s a must go it Lisbon.   The food was great. Everything we had was really nice but... the service was so bad. We ordered fried squid, fried prawns, sardines and grilled chicken. We got fried octopus, sardines and prawns in butter and wine instead of deep fried and no chicken. And to top it up we were charged another portion of fried octopus that we didn't have. We only noticed when home cause the bill seemed too big for what we got. Definitely not going back. It's a pity cause the food is nice but the hassle of trying to convince them of what i actually ordered. It's like I don't know what I want to eat. We ordered, it took a very long time and one of the waiters was shouting about us in Spanish that it was all our fault for the long delay.   at the end of a guided tour, which was great, I ended up with this restaurant. The reception was unexpected, I was treated as very welcome guest.   Disappointing! It is an average tourist restaurant, not more than that. The service was good and the dishes are big however the taste of the food is average at best. The sea bass was dry the sea salt is bad (and definitely not a paella as they represented it), salads are basic, risotto is not tasty. Be careful as they are trying to push you food, they asked if we want some bread and olives and we ended up paying almost 30 Euros for bread, olives, small cheese platter and presutto platter (I’m taking responsibility for that on my self for not really understanding what was offered) (Traduzido pelo Google) Decepcionante!   Fantastic find! - In this kind of area, close to the sea front and with lots of passing traffic, you have a lot of choice, but this particular restaurant stood out from the rest. The food was honestly fantastic.. prepared and presented so well. They took a pride in what they did and we were only there for lunch! In particular, I would recomend the gilled chicken with the carrot and vegetable base and the prawns on lime rice. Absolutely delicious. Staff were also very hospitable and thank ful for our compliments, which is always nice. Highly recommended.   My very first night in Lisbon. Got to the restaurant at 10:30pm and the waiter Yadlino was more than accommodating. Service was as good as it gets. Met his father, the owner and got to know the history of the business. The interior is classic Lisboa style dining. Beautiful hand painted tiled murals. Hand made ceramic plates with the Solar dos Bicos painted on each. Every detail is beautiful. Got the garlic mushrooms, Tuna and local wine. All beyond delicious.   On 25 December 2022, we went to this restaurant. We ordered 2 plates of the day: 1) Bacalhau com nata - codfish with cream; 2) Arroz con polvo - rice with octopus. Both cost 12,50€ and were delicious, hot and very tasty! Also we asked for two pasteis de bacalhau, as starters, very delicious as well! The only problem was with the check. They brought us the wrong check at first, 4€ more than what we ordered and the glass of wine cost 4,20€. Then, they brought us the right check, but they charged 5,50€ the glass of wine saying that it was “vinho reserva”, but that wasn’t what the bottle says. When we asked about that, the waiter answered that the bottle cost 19€, so the glass of wine would cost 5€, very strange and expensive.   It has become my favorite place for bacalhau in Lisbon! We were on our way to another restaurant, but walking by we saw the dishes that were being served to some customers and the looks of the food were incredible. We ordered the octopus and cod à lagareiro by suggestion of the waiter. I have tried cod everywhere in Lisbon and I have to say that this is definetly the place for good quality cod. The octopus was amazing too, perfectly cooked and the veggies accompanying both dishes had a lot of work put into them and were super tasty. To sum up, both dishes were spectacular! We had pasteis de bacalhau (cod cakes) as a starter and again, some of the best I've ever had. They were freshly made. Same thing happened with dessert. We were not going to have the pasteis de Natas at first, but the waiter advices us to, he told us that the chef makes a few every morning or the moment you order them if they are out, and it was true! They brought us two pasteis de Nata straight out of the oven and they were absolutely fabulous! They were warm and the curd was smooth but light and super tasty! Totally worth it! The waiter and waitress were extremely nice to us, meeting them was actually one of the highlights of our day. We even left the place with some gifts, which was totally unexpected. My mum fell in love and is looking forward to her next visit to eat here again. I am coming back for certain as much as I can! Comemos pasteis de bacalhau como entrada e, mais uma vez, alguns dos melhores que já comi. Eles foram feitos recentemente. A mesma coisa aconteceu com a sobremesa. A princípio não íamos comer os pasteis de Natas, mas o empregado aconselha-nos, disse-nos que o chef faz alguns todas as manhãs ou no momento em que os pedes se estiverem fora, e era verdade! Trouxeram-nos dois pasteis de Nata saídos do forno e estavam absolutamente fabulosos! Estavam quentinhos e o requeijão macio mas leve e super saboroso! Vale totalmente a pena!   London was excellent waiter for us, really really helpful, showes us the whole restaurant and shared its history. The food was excellent here, not too much not too little.   One of my favourite places in Lisbon. An excellent place to enjoy Portuguese cuisine, drinks and brunch. The service is perfect, the food is fantastic, and the drinks are incredible!
