  Very well made traditional Portuguese food. The service was good although a bit slow (but the waitress was alone in a holy Friday) so it was good enough for me. They say the dishes serve 2 people, but we ordered one in 4 and we didn’t finish. So I recommend ordering one dish first and another one layer if necessary, but in my experience 1 serves 4.   This place was recommended to me for traditional Portuguese food. The portions are absolutely GIGANTIC I ordered for 1 and it easily could have fed 2-3 people. I had the cod, as well as a side of the cilantro rice. The bread, butter and olives could have filled me up before the meal even came! The food was all very tasty. My server was outstanding.   This was our first place to have dinner in Lisbon and it did not disappoint. Very delicious food and the service was great. The day we went the credit card machine did not work so please take cash with you. Also the bread,olives and cheese it’s not free. They bring it to the table and charge after.   Fantastic, authentic little restaurant. A local working at our hotel recommended it. The food is amazing, the cheese and olives to start with were delicious and then we had the garlic steak (and fries)- we really recommend this!!! We tried some of the cod with chickpeas too but it was quite oily for us. The server will tell you that each dish is meant for two people so it is good value and we were full from this meal for the rest of the day!! Unfortunately we did have to queue for over 45 minutes which wouldn’t be ideal if you’re in a rush. Luckily for us we weren’t and for us it was well worth the wait!!   We arrived at around 1:30pm on Saturday and were seated within 30 minutes which was less time than we’d expected. Our server (Vinicius) was delightful and explained the menu to us very well. You can order half portions of their dishes so we ordered their two most popular ones. After visiting and now knowing, we definitely would have been fine ordering one half portion for two because you get A LOT of food. I didn’t take a photo of the plate of fries that came with the steaks but it was massive… We loved the service and general vibe of the restaurant but the food fell a bit flat for us. The first bites were tasty and then it all became a bit much. The cod is very salty so would pair well with some rice and although the steaks had been recommended and ordered to be medium-rare, most of the pieces we received were medium-well done and quite dry. Others have commented about being charged about the olives and cheese without asking for them but we honestly thought they were the highlight of our meal - they were some of the best olives we’ve ever eaten! The amount of food you get for the price you pay is hard to beat though - make sure you come here hungry!   Our visit to this restaurant started off bad and only got worse from there. The waitress, Ana, was lazy, unhelpful and couldn’t get our two meal order correct. She blatantly ignored us multiple times when we tried to get her attention for a table, to order and finally to pay. As others have mentioned olives, bread and cheese are brought to the table with no warning and charged to your bill. The main meal of codfish was excessively oily, had no flavour and was filled with scales and bones. The only positive for this place was the potatoes, which were cooked amazingly but I would not come here just for that. I do not recommend this place to anyone, there are much better places to eat.   I am giving one🌟 star because of the cheap management and customer service. I heard the 🍲 food was very good so I went to try it with my family 👪 family. As we came to the restaurant 🍴I told the waitress that we are from a magazine and we are going to review about it on Google. She seemed very happy about it 😊. I was wrong ❌ 😳!!!!!! First of all we wanted to order some drink 🍻 and had to wait for ⌚ 10 minutes. When she brought the 🍻 drinks she placed one drink wrongly on the table. So the 🍸 glass fall and broke on top of the main 🍲 dish, the food was full of brocken 🍸 glass. She looked at us when it happened and she ignored the situation. After ⌚ 10 minutes someone came and took the mess away. I thought that she would be grateful for the free advertising!!!   The restaurant was closed without indication online or at the door. Waiting for 20 minutes (because we arrived when it was supposed to open) and even called but nobody picked up. Then we went 20 minutes to their other location which was open but we were rudely turned away from a near empty restaurant due to reservations - which, fair enough, can happen. But unfortunately there was no indication online that reservations are even possible (nor any way to do so). Tldr: We'd recommend avoiding it if you value your time.   I've been coming here since 2017 and it never disappoints. Every time I visit the place is packed with locals and tourists and the food is never anything less than excellent. Of course, you have to get the bacalao special, but if I were you I'd get the cilantro rice to go with it, all to be washed down by a bottle of vinho verde.   We went here about two weeks ago. We had the Cod platter, fresh orange juice and some bread and cheese which we thought was on the house, but it’s actually on your tab. The cod was delicious, in the style of how the Portuguese like it, which is brined in olive oil, very flavourful. There too many chickpeas in our opinion we couldn’t finish them all. Overall a good spot to visit, make sure to come hungry to make the platter worth it!   The food (we had the codfish) was good but not great nor memorable. Codfish dish price as of late September 2022 is 32.50€. Waiter didn't greet us, just showed us to our table and gave us the menus. The portion is ridiculous, far too much for two so food got wasted and we are good eaters! I would have expected them to offer a half a dose/portion as is customary in many restaurants in Portugal, instead of serving 2 people a plate of food suitable for 3 or even 4 people, charging 32.50€ for it and having a lot of it wasted. I heard the waiter tell the table next to us that all the dishes were "enough for two people". Then later noticed another table where the couple had ordered 2 different dishes and their portions were about half what we got. So to me it looked like you could actually order half a portion, they just don't tell you that so you'll order the giant 32.50€ plate. Be aware that bread and cheese put on your table when you arrive are not free, you will be charged for them. I knew of this practice so asked the waiter to take it back. The place was cramped, I could barely get out of my chair and all through dinner people either bumped into me or asked me to move my chair inside the table so they could go to the bathroom. With about 40 people in the small dining area, the noise was unbearable and we couldn't wait to get out of there. I would not return nor recommend. We got charged €81 for Sea bream, a plater of salad, bread+olives and a bottle of green wine. My mistake was I did not ask for an itemized bill! The waitress's reasoning for the price was because" the Seabream was 2kg and it's fresh". We've eaten out everyday in Lisbon in other great places with 3 amazing fish mains+ lovely desserts and a bottle of good wine and it never amounted to €81.Thats when we realized we got overcharged!!!   The steak with coffee sauce was outstanding; however, they serve it rare although we asked for it med rare to medium. We ate around the more cooked edges and cooked it more at the Airbnb. It heated up nicely over the massive platter of fries. They say it's one meal for 2 people (35 euros), but we got 2 meals from it. Diego was a friendly, funny English speaking waiter who was pleasant and helpful. Oh and the locals next to us shared their cuttlefish so we could try it. Great experience in this little restaurant.   The most amazing codfish I have ever tasted and I am from Scotland where the fish is excellent. The meal is for two which suited my husband and myself. It is rather expensive but you get a lot of food- despite being incredibly hungry we couldn’t finish. Very authentic vibes from the restaurant which we sought after. Restaurant has two separate rooms however and from what I could tell the non Portuguese speakers were separated, our waiter spoke great English and I wondered if this was to make it easier for the staff, but also wondered if we were separated from the locals as it isn’t a tourist spot typically. Before you order they advise you that the portions are big enough for 2/3 people. I'd say one is big enough for 4, we had huge amounts of food left on the table and everyone ate more than they could.   I first came here in 2017 and it was my fondest memory in Lisbon. I came again in December 2021 hoping for the same experience and unfortunately was disappointed. Food quality seemed to have dropped though the portion sizes were still enormous as I remembered. Not sure if it has something to do with them expanding to a second location, but definitely wasn't as good as I remembered. Would love to give it another chance, but hoping that it lives up to the expectations I previously had.   I am sorry to only give 3 stars to this place, but it was definitely the most overpriced meal we had in this lovely country. The fish dish was good (altough not exceptional), and we loved the relaxed atmosphere. Honestly my favourite item was the cheese that we were offered first along with some bread and olives. We knew we would be charged for them, but it was about 10 eur which is a bit too much for such a nibble type of welcome bite you don't even order specifically (they will automatically place it in front of you without any comments but I guess you can just not touch it or ask them to bring it back - the cheese really is good though). We ended up paying 50 eur for a lunch for 2 with some wine and water, which is not too bad, but definitely above what we paid in other popular restaurants in Lisbon, including a great seafood dinner of crabs and shrimps, and looking back it was not a great value for money ratio in the end.   My first stop in Lisboa due to how amazing it was the first time I came to the city. Just as good as I had it 2018 except no lines this time! Highly recommend the cuttlefish with garlic sauce. The potatoes are so tender. Everyone got the codfish with chickpea (and so did we as it seems to be a staple here) but I think the cuttlefish has a bit more flavor due to the garlic oil!   We enjoyed lunch today at this restaurant in a hidden area in Lisbon. Our tour guide recommended it to taste traditional Portuguese food. All in all they offered very good dishes and a huge variety of meals. Surprisingly without ordering anything they brought as a big basket of bread, some cheese and olives. In many Portuguese restaurant they used to bring you Appetizer for free - but here we were a bit surprised when (in the end) they charged us 10€ for an Appetizer we a) didn’t order and b) didn’t even finish.   Was so excited to check out this place after our local tour guide raved it as one of her favorite restaurants in Lisbon. The place was pretty empty at 2pm on a Saturday, and we thought oh yes snapped a table! However, the food was a huge disappointment. Their famous dish (which they recommend to every table) is the codfish in olive oil with chickpeas and potatoes, and honestly it tasted like dead fish. The meat was slimy, tasted like rotten meat and not fresh at all. I grew up eating fermented meats (like really stinky dried fish used in cooking), and I couldn’t even take more than a bite of their codfish without wanting to throw up. Not worth the 23.5 euros price tag.   This restaurant is tucked away right in what felt like the really local area of Lisbon. It was quite chaotic when we arrived but the menu and everything was in Portuguese and it was full of locals. We ended up asking a local couple what they recommended and they said they came often for the fish - but the restaurant had run out by the time we got there for late lunch. We had the beef instead and the portions were huge and really delicious! Would recommend for traditional tascas at seriously good value.   We went without a reservation, so I can only speak to that experience, but it was a big mistake. Normally, I never rate for poor service but it was beyond awful. It took an hour and a half to get seated in an unclean table crammed between two other parties (understandable because we didn’t have a reservation but they seated locals before us). Then, we waited another 15 minutes in which we tried to make eye contact with people, and during which they moved a table that was already eating to a better table that they cleaned instead of cleaning ours. Then, we finally gave up because at this point we were starving without even the bread and olives they con you into buying. As we were walking out the door, they tried to seat us at a different unclean table to appease us (not crammed between two big parties this time) but in a separate room where there was no way we’d get better service or food quicker. And so ends this tragic tale of hungry stomachs. Save your time (and money according to other reviews) and go to that cheap Nepal place down the street.   The bacalhau com grau was good and it's obviously a popular place, but when we went the staff seemed to think we were tourists and overcharged us. Basically, we asked for a bottle of wine and the waiter told us he'd bring a "normal priced" bottle for us. This ended up costing €28: for context a normal priced bottle of wine in Portugal would cost less than €10 in a restaurant (we've lived here for years, but obviously he overheard us speaking English). I knew the brand, and it's definitely not a €28 one. Obviously it's our fault for not asking the cost, but we didn't expect to be ripped off so blatantly in a reputable local restaurant: especially when the waiter said "normal" price. They also tried to charge us for a salad that never materialised. So I'd say if you look local and are fluent in Portuguese, it's probably great but if you look like you might be a tourist give it a wide berth. Então, eu diria que se você parece local e é fluente em português, provavelmente é ótimo, mas se você parece ser um turista, evite isso.

  One of my preferred restaurants in Lisbon. Typical Portuguese food and an amazing staff and chef. Unless you are a really, really starving and you are a really, really big guy, one dishes is enough for two people. The only issue is that most of the times the place is crowded. It would've been perfect, but then we got the bill and realized we were charged 19,50€ for a single bottle of mediocre red wine. That's ridiculous in this town! And we were never even told how much it was, just that it was a good price... Really soured the rest of the experience .   Great restaurant kind of hidden away in a back street. Good portion sizes. We ordered garlic beef and fries for two people. Very tasty beef. Cooked just right. Not dry. I wouldn't say presentation is the top priority here but if the food is good then it doesn't matter so much. It can get quite busy. Came on a Saturday and it gets very busy.   Amazing place for foodies looking for the best match of a full platter vs bargain prices and complemented with high quality. Portions are more then generous ... bigger then biggie size me fish and meat are fresh ... tender the sauces are wonderful.   Best sardines I have eaten so far. But expensive for the area and quite full of tourists. However has all the drippings of a typical Portuguese restaurant. If you don't want to spend the money you can find very similar food around the corner for one third the price. 20/30 Euro per person is VERY expensive in Lisbon and especially in this neighborhood where you generally can eat a food meal for under 10 Euro. The octopus salad they put on your table as you are seated is the best we've had. No frills...just real good food.
