  Information for all tourists! Before You order Your food ask about card payments. Me and my girlfriend ordered today food ( was quite nice) and when I wanted to pay, the guy who served us said that I can pay only in cash what really surprised me as few minutes later another customer could pay by card. Of course it was only about to get a tip. Also I don't recommend to eat outside as it's busy street and everyone who pass around looks into Your dish.... Poor service and I don't know why I left €5 tip. Prices are higher than in other places and I definitely will not back as I feel disappointed just because of greedy customer service.   I wanted to try authentic Portugese food and this seems like the place (I haven't really tried other places). I got the bifana- the pork was nice and juicy, a very simple dish and good with their mustard. I also ordered a soup which I think I liked better than the bifana. Good mix of tourists and locals.   I ordered the codfish bifanas, codfish croquettes and caldo verde. Both the codfish and croquette it lacked seasoning, I guess you have to ask for salt and pepper from the staff as it’s not provided on the seating area. The bifanas arrived room temperature. The good thing was there was a good amount of codfish. However, the edges of the fried fish patty was dry and tough. The caldo verde was warm and hardy and flavourful. Would recommend the soup but not the codfish bifanas. The other bifanas may be a better shout, although I don’t think I will attempt another visit.   I'm not sure how there's so many people raving about the bifana. After trying a proper one in Porto that was amazing we wanted to find another one in Lisbon & this place popped up on Google. It was NOTHING like the other one, bread was stale, meat was not cooked the same way and was grey and tough. They are "cash only" but only tell you that when you're ready to pay, we didn't have cash and after having issues with an ATM across the road we asked if they were sure we couldn't pay by card. After some eye-rolls and annoyed grunts towards us, it turns out they have a card machine inside they just don't want to pay the fees I guess!   Food was just fine, nothing special about it. Waiter was horribly rude. Eating there felt very unpleasant and rushed. My partner decided quite quickly but I wanted to go through the menu. The waiter didn’t let me and took the menu away so I decided not to order since I wasn’t too hungry. We were in and out in less than 15 minutes. Prawn omelette cost 12.40€. Small bottle of water cost 1.90€. There was a family (non local) who sat diagonally across us. They weren’t even seated for 5 minutes and the same waiter told them, “Quickly choose! I love how busy the place is - right outside of a train station in one of the busiest parts of Lisbon, - and yet the staff is always kind and friendly. The Bifana - a marinated pork sandwich served on soft rolls with plenty of mustard and piri-piri sauce - is the best in Lisbon, and I often go there for one (or two), whether alone, with family or whenever a friend from abroad comes visit Lisbon.   I stumbled upon this place while looking for food late at night. The ambience seemed nice, and reminds me of a typical place in Goa. The bar is on one side and the tables on the other, and a very English / American kind of mural on the wall facing the door. I looked at the menu and well my Portuguese is rusty, and I asked the waiter to help me, then he turned the page to the English version. So helpful! I ordered, Caldo Verde, which wasn't available. But then I decided on the Bifa a Casa or the Portuguese steak, don't be fooled by the fried potatoes, the steak was a good portion, and what looks like a jug of beer. The food took me back in time to my grandmother. I remembered the way she would cook this, and the rice was absolutely the way she made it. The meal was tasty and I was really happy with it.   Xenophobic service! We were in a group of two Brazilians and three Dutch people. At first when we were approached in English they treated us really well, but when I asked for all the finger food we wanted in Portuguese everything changed. My dad asked for olive oil and they said they didn’t have it even they did, when I questioned that politely one of them just screamed that we were not supposed to use that and stared at us even when we were outside the restaurant. Waiters didn't let us sit where we wanted, first they moved us when we were outside (it was half empty and plenty of room), one of them was pushing between my chair and umbrella all the time, although he had enough space literally a step away.
