  Very tasty shrimp in garlic. We also enjoyed house wine which was a great drink with seafood. My friend ordered cod which was very well cooked in a nice sauce. It was quite greasy though.   Absolutley amazing. All of the dishes we tried was typical Portuguese dishes and all of them was very good and had a lot of flavours. The best dish was the vegetable soup. Very recommended.   Great meal - simple traditional Portuguese menu. Wonderful quick service, attentive waiter but not too much. Really enjoyed the clams, ham and pataniscas. Great location, not on the main tourist drag - but just a few metres away. Don’t expect fancy presentation- just simple honest local food.   Don't understand why it is listed as a hotel in google because its a resturant. Anyway, you know it's good when locals eat there. Cute resturant with great service and food. We had the cod fritters, cheese plate, grilled codfish and Rubina. So tasty. Excellent wines and finally 2 deserts, the chocolate mousse and a coconut mousse. Highly recommended.   Amazing little restaurant just off Rossio Square offering traditional Portuguese food at a very fair price. The food is delicious and the staff very friendly and welcoming. I had the vegetable soup and then the fried cod with potato and onion and it’s the best thing I’ve eaten since I’ve been here. Highly recommended.   Had a quick dinner here as a solo traveler. Service was good and food also very fresh and delicious. The grilled skin was crispy. And it's fish so check for bones! It's a unique restaurant setup, with the kitchen situated above the restaurant floor and food shuttled with a dumb waiter. Don't see that often! The shrimp Soup was good but I'd pass on it next time.   Best service in Lisbon! Staff is friendly and always smiling. They don’t rush you at all even though we walked in at 7:39 and they close at 8! Not to mention that the food was so authentic and tasty!!! I recommend trying at least one of the grilled fishes, the octopus and the clams.   So good. Wanted an authentic sardine dinner and we found it thanks to a recommendation from a couple in Porto. Across from the peep show they said by a yellow arch. Closest to the arch. Huge portion and super delicious. And it came with a huge potato and salad. For those not aware if you are offered bread and cheese it’s extra so your paying for it. That is standard in most Portuguese places I am told. Not a huge deal and just a few euro and the meals are huge and less than anywhere else. Staff were a bit done but we got there at 7;45pm and they close at 8pm. So it was a big day for them and I like when people act how they are feeling. You get the sense that it’s been this way for years, they do what they do, and they do it well.   Great food and service. I had the pork and clams and the house red. Both were incredible. Prices were fair and the atmosphere was great. I think the staff read the reviews about the bread and the "hidden" charge for it... They asked me if I wanted it. Just because you don't pay for bread where you're from doesn't mean that is the rule everywhere. Just like tipping. Just because we do it in the States doesn't mean you do it everywhere (no one seems to complain about not having to tip...but they won't pay an extra Euro for bread THEY ATE).   Unethical practice against tourists, charging for items that were forced onto us. Immediately after we ordered, the server brought bread, butter, and cheese, which we assumed would be free and ate accordingly like any other restaurant. To our dismay, these ended up totalling 5.35 euros for two people (see pic). Comparatively, this was almost half the price of a main (about 10-14 euros). Food was otherwise okay, rustic, but I suspect we were profiled as easy targets and I would not wish the same fate to anyone else. I came to check reviews afterwards and seems like a few other people had the same experience as well. If you must go, be sure to decline the cheese and bread unless you are willing to pay for them. Unfortunately they ran out of octopus rice pot, which was what we were looking for, but we went with the grilled sardines which did not disappoint. It requires some skill to get the meat out of the fish without taking the spikes or other “unwanted” parts but that’s part of the experience! The staff was friendly and helpful.   We went there for dinner. It was unexpectedly good! Very authentic traditional Portuguese food. Especially liked the combination of cod fish, chickpeas and olive oil. It was so good that we went back for lunch the next day before leaving Lisbon 😂. The staff there was very kind and friendly. They explained to us the dish in English and told us the price as well when we were making orders. You know some restaurants would just try to rip you off when they know you are tourists.   Excellent choice for us as we stayed right across the street in Rossio Apts. The food choices were excellent; this is not for a low fat meal-the fish is cooked in butter and oil; and tasted divine. We had 4 different dishes-each was big enough for 2 people. They do charge you for bread, cheese and butter -would have been good to know -but given the tasty food they serve and the reasonable prices, I prefer to be charged for the bread than be overcharged for bad food. The service was great, the server brought us hot sauce, olive oil and vinegar -which went well with our starters of carapausinhos. We had the fried dourada, peixe espada and minhota (cod) the famous baclau . Highly recommend for a great meal.   First, the good things: The staff are very friendly and the prices are cheap (even for Lisbon). Now the bad things: The food. It was genuinely terrible, the salt cod was swimming in oil, the mixed grill seemed to have been fried (judging by the amount of oil it was wallowing in) and the potatoes were limp and tasted of nothing but grease.
