  We've been there for dinner. The food was ok, but for my wife and me not good enough to go there again. The service was great though.   My wife and I were looking to go for a nice meal on our last night in Lisbon, and after a few disappointing meals in other restaurants, we were so happy with Quermesse. The food was beautiful and the service was perfect. Everyone was really friendly, especially our waitress and spot on with her recommendations. My advice would be to stay away from the busy tourist streets that try and pull you in with picture cards and head to Quermesse. My wife had grilled octopus and I had pork in a red wine sauce that melted in your mouth, and the best vanilla cheesecake ever to finish. Great night.   A beautiful meal for 13 ppl celebrating my family visit to Lisbon and sister 70th birthday. At the very end of the meal the chef and owner of the restaurant came over to greet us.   Amazing experience. The food was amazing, the service was really good and the owner very friendly and helpful. It is perhaps the best restaurant experience I had ever had, we started talking with the owner, asking about Lisbon and he came to our table and made a full ad-hoc 10 min presentation about the city.   This wonderful restaurant was one of our happiest finds in Lisbon. Recommended by our hotel. The front and entrance are easy to pass. That would be a mistake. The dining area is sparse, with some wonderful photography on the walls for decor. Sound level low. The service casual but attentive. Our waiter was very helpful walking us through the menu and wine list. Both the appetizer and the main dishes were beautifully prepared. We shared a delicious dessert. Excellent value for cost. Both the server and the manager (owner?) made us feel very welcome. Do yourself and make this a stop on your visit to Lisbon. We will definitely return.   Super experience, the place is a bit hidden not at the centre crowded part which is great. Quiet and nice atmosphere, many tourists but food are pretty impressive. We had the lobster gambas linguine very good, not too pricy like 30euros per not including alcohol. We would like to recommend to all the friends.   Small cozy restaurant serving somewhat modern takes on classic dishes. Dinner left a lot to be desired. One waitress was clearly not enough to serve on this Sunday evening when most tables were full. It took three separate reminders to get a carafe of water. Food took a very long time to come from the kitchen so be prepared and order some olives or bread while waiting. Duck confit was tasty but skin was not crispy, accompanying vegetables of sweet potatoes and broccoli were barely cooked and veered toward raw. Cod/spinach/potato dish was supposed to come as a stacked terrine but instead was a mess on the plate and the cod was full of small bones. Overall disappointing meal.   I would highlight recomend to stay away of this place: 1. If hungry (nobody seems to want to work at this place) 2. If you plan on bringing kids/babies (not welcoming, high chairs are not offered eventho they do have, ridiculously long wait) I have never been treated so poorly, our table and the other 5 ones a round us ignored for AN HOUR (not even bread was offered when I asked for it the man who was supposed to helping us was extremly rude).   What a wonderful evening! The service was wonderful-attentive, helpful and friendly. The menu offered many options but we especially liked the onion tart with goat cheese. The duck risotto was full of flavor and enough for two. Wine options were broad and we were offered tastes before we decided. The restaurant offers lots of dining options, at the bar, outside and cozy spaces (not fancy but comfortable) We are hoping to return again tomorrow-our favorite meal in Portugal so far!!   Nothing but great things to say about our experience at Quermesse. The menu had direction in contrast to the huge confused menus we've tried so far. I had the risotto which was really lovely and my partner had the steak with grand padano basket and poached pears etc. He said with certainty that it was his best meal in Lisbon. We sat outside so didn't test the inside atmosphere but the service was great and not overbearing. The price was more expensive than some others available but the quality was far better so it was worth it. The seafood platter with lobster looked very impressive Thanks a million!   Great little hole in the wall place in a former market. There is a goat cheese on caramelized onion appetizer that I’m going to spend the rest of my life dreaming about. So yummy! They could just move it to the dessert menu it was so good, and maybe they should. After that I had the best duck confit here that I’ve ever had. Not every day that every bite of a meal is a delight, but r me it was here. Now, I’ve only been the once and can’t say it’s always this good or comment on other dishes, but based on a sample of one I’d highly, highly recommend this place.   Food was normal. Not worth the price. My friends liked the risotto. They didn't like the spaghettis at all.   This place is a real Jewell! The food was amazing and the service was even better.   Mistakes happen. How a restaurant deals with a mistake says a lot about the place. My family and I (7 in total) went to Quermesse for dinner. Service started slow, but they were busy and we were enjoying each other's company so didn't think much of it. After some appetizers, we ordered our entrees, which took about 45 minutes to bring to the table. Except, after placing 5 entrees in front of us, we were informed that the restaurant was out of an entree ordered by two in our group. How it is that they only realized this at the moment of serving everyone else's entree and not, say, when they started cooking is a question for which we will never have an answer. But mistakes happen, so our two hungry diners ordered another entree. The rest of us ate while they waited. Almost 30 minutes later, we were informed that the restaurant was out of the second entree too. Again, no explanation as to why this critical bit of information was not given to us at or near the moment of ordering. Our server was apologetic but could do nothing for us. The restaurant's manager, while aware of the situation, lacked either the courtesy or the courage to address the issue with us. I had to find him myself after the rest of my family left to express my frustration with the evening. We were charged for everything we ate. Again, mistakes happen.   First one star review- my family came here together and were excited for a good meal. Two of us ordered a meal- and when the rest of our food came out they told us that they were sold out of that meal. This was weird- usually restaurants will tell you when you order if they’re out before the rest of the food comes out. But okay, mistakes happen. So they ordered something else and we waited another 20 minutes, and the waitress came back and said they were out of that meal too. Absolutely unacceptable- our waitress was good, the food that we had was fine, but the kitchen/ownership/communication of the team is absolutely unacceptable. Truly the worst I’ve experienced.   We spent over a week in Portugal and this was by far the best meal we had on the trip. Every dish was delicious and had unique tastes. Definitely recommend trying a few dishes and sharing. The cod, shrimp and clam risotto was the best dish we ordered. All the appetizers we tried were delicious but my favorite was the garlic prawns. I definitely recommend this place and I will be back the next time I visit Lisbon!   Went in on a cold RAINY night of November 9pm.impossible to stay in for the heavy bad smell of meat,me personally not eating meat so the smell was impossible to deal with.   Cannot fathom what people like about this restaurant. The food is very “meh”. Our codfish was dry and my “seafood” lasagna was basically a plate of spinach (…I know it was foolish to order lasagna in Lisbon but the seafood description fooled me) and our caipirinhas were just awful. I waited 20 minutes just to order food, or even a drink! The table next to me, also Portuguese, weren’t impressed at all and kept looking back to the kitchen to see if their food would come; obviously they’d also been waiting.   We had a wonderful night at the Quermesse. It was quite busy and because of this dining took three hours. But we didn't mind, the atmosphere was fantastic and relaxed so we enjoyed every minute. For starters we had roasted padrón peppers and fried shrimp in olive oil, garlic and chilli. Especially the shrimp was incredibly good. Cocked perfectly with a slight spicy hotness. It couldn't be better. Unfortunately it went downhill for the main course. The days special was a Tuna Steak that I can't call anything but a huge disappoinment. The fish was fried until it was gray and lost all juice and taste. Unfortunately these couldn't be countered by the seasoning because, like the sides, there wasn't any used. It was really hard to finish that dish because it didn't taste like anything, while hinting at a hidden greatness, if the kitchen would have worked better here. I still think this was just a lapse though, because for dessert we had Portuguese rice pudding that totally made up for the main course. The traditional cinnamon and sugar was combined with oranges to a masterpiece that will be remembered. We'll definitely be back, even though the tuna made me cry.   Service was excellent, food was meh. I definitely have had better And did not enjoy anything I had here. The squid was boiled and tasted too over cooked. The spinach that accompanied it was okAy. The shrimp in seafood sauce was spicy, I liked it but would have preferred that they grilled it or pan seared. They missed the mark on this dish as well. Lasagna spinach was the nastiest, the spinach was overcooked and too many little particles in the dish.   Unfortunately we did not like our visit. For the main course, we ordered a codfish risotto with prawns that basically did not taste codfish at all and was lacking spices. The prawns were too pale and the risotto quite liquid. We also ordered codfish with potatoes and spinach. While the codfish tasted quite good, the rest of the plate missed flavor. It seemed to us that the potatoes were not even boiled with salt. The spinach was also very tasteless, with no salt, no olive oil, and just mushy. For desert, we ordered a petit gateau that first came cold. We retuned and the waiter sent a new one. The overall impression was that the petit gateau was microwaved and the ice cream was just of a bad quality. We had to return it again. The service was friendly in the beginning but when they realized we didn’t like the desert (again), they avoided us and we had to wait a lot to get our check. O atendimento foi amigável no começo, mas quando perceberam que não gostávamos da sobremesa (de novo), nos evitaram e tivemos que esperar muito para receber nossa conta.   Decided to come here due to the high rating and relatively closer proximity to where we were staying. Service was good and liked the atmosphere. We got the crayfish and prawn risotto and beef cheeks and a codfish salad to start. We liked the codfish salad although there were pieces of scales left in the salad that would have been better removed. We unfortunately didn't like our mains. I found my risotto undercooked. It was chewy and slightly hard in the centre. I wondered about my prawns. It didn't taste the freshest and would have been better if we were offered some pepper for extra seasoning. My husband liked the texture of the beef cheeks. It was tender but he felt the dish lacked balance overall. The wine reduction made it too sweet and wasn't balanced right and he said it almost felt like the wine reduction was done for the sake of it. Price wise, it was reasonable though I'm sure it's still considered pricey in Lisbon. All up, our meal was roughly 40 euros, including a beer. Unfortunately, we weren't mad about the food so won't really be recommending this place. We certainly liked the service and the servers. They were very friendly and made you feel welcomed.   Ate the special, grilled tuna steak. The tuna was well cooked and had a really nice sauce. The random chive on the top seemed a bit pointless. It was served with a chickpea mash and mushy pea which was nice but the dish really lacked something crispy. Not terribly priced at 12 euro. When asked what appeared to be the manager/owner where the nearest grocery store they tried he pawned us off to their next door restaurant which was clearly not a grocery store (and he repeated grocery market) where the wine was marked easily 3x lisbon value.   Unfortunately everything was problematic. The black linguini had very flavorful sauce, but the lobster was not fresh (previously frozen?) and was overcooked to the point where it was inedible. The sauce for the risotto was good, but the rice was undercooked. Finally the Sangria (cola, lime, wine?) was undrinkably sweet.   Reasonably priced tasty good food and great relaxing atmosphere. It is well located from main hotels near Av da Liberdade. I originally wanted to go to As Velhas but it is over priced for a similar offer. I had dinner there twice as I liked it. However you will probably not see many locals, at least not on a Monday and on a Tuesday evening as I did. All in all I highly recommend it. I hope they will keep their prices reasonable in spite of their good reviews. To be fair, I could not end this review without mentioning André, the waiter who’s Portuguese and speaks fluently French and more than get by with English.   This is traditional Portuguese food redesigned. Good for People looking for a twist or those that can't eat Portuguese traditional. I shared a very good time here, the wine is good and the ambience was calm. The dishes were correct serving and very tasty. We specially liked the "Alho Francês a Bras", offering a bit of traditional taste without the cliché of Codfish. I definitely recommend this place, specially if you come with someone that isn't used to traditional cuisine. EDIT: by the way, the owner is very friendly and makes sure you are having a good time.   I’ll preface this review by saying I️ truly believe the food quality was affected by being Christmas and things being 2-4 days old. We saw the awesome reviews and made a Christmas night reservation. The place was cute and the service was great. The wine was awesome. The issue was the seafood. First, the mussels were tough and chewy and just did not taste good. But the biggest issue, and one that cannot be understated, was the lobster and prawns. We ordered the lobster, prawn, and squid ink pasta for two. I­t­ was simply inedible. We’ve been traveling around Spain and Portugal for 2 weeks and this was the first bad dish we’ve eaten, again attributed to the Christmas holiday and places being closed. The seafood in the pasta was extremely fishy and smelled. That was the first clue. Also, the sauce of the pasta, which was seafood based, tasted off and “spoiled”. I­t­ seemed like everyone else enjoyed their food so I️ am chalking this up to a random poor event, but if you go and order the lobster, ask if it’s fresh. Great wine and service, awful dish.   One word, INCREDIBLE! Such an excellent find in Lison! This place doesn't look like it offers much when looking at it from the outside. But once you step in, It offers such a charming and comfy environment along with great service and great food! We actually got there and they were completely booked. ( make reservations!!) He told us to hold 5-10 minutes to see if they can squeeze us and thankfully, they did! We had the Duck Confit and Duck Risotto, both dishes were absolutely amazing.
