  We had a regrettable experience here. The reviews were good so we gave it a try. Squeezed in at the end of a table without a reservation. Service was fast. Servers had enough English so that was appreciated. My husband ordered the steak with coffee sauce, I had the sea bass with vegetables. The steak was very tough. He resolved to not try beef in Portugal again. My sea bass was ok. The fish itself was fresh and tasty. But the raw garlic on the garnish was unpleasant, and the vegetables were cold on the side. It would have been nice to know that eating the cheese, olives, bread, that are set on every tables will result in a charge. In Canada, if there’s bread, or olives put on your table that you didn’t order it’s included at no extra charge. So a bit of a surprise when the bill came.   We went to Lucimar with the aim of trying the francesinha. This is a place whose customers consist mostly of locals, so it's quite no frills and totally not catering towards tourists. We had the francesinha and the grilled cuttlefish. We were not disappointed at all. The grilled cuttlefish was cooked just right, crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside.   To me, Lucimar was a 10 out of 10 experience, with the only drawback being the card machine not working leading us to scramble to get cash! Doesn’t really matter as our server, Claudia, was absolutely lovely and she made sure our food was delivered promptly as we had come here directly from the airport on a layover. The food was delicious but the service was top notch, they even gave us complementary desert at the end of our meal to add to the amazing service we had already received! An added bonus of calling a taxi to take us back to the airport was the cherry on top of the cake.   This was the best dinner I have had in a long time! Amazing Portuguese dishes at a low key diner-like atmosphere mostly filled with locals. I am so glad I was in the area and just searched restaurant on Google maps and selected this place. Our server was amazing and made the whole experience extra enjoyable and the food was absolutely delicious and perfect. We had wine, beer, prawns in garlic and butter, whatever the traditional gravy covered sandwich thing is (I forgot the name but it was to die for), the grilled steak with fries and salad and Nata pie for dessert. All of that came to just €48 which seemed like amazing value to us. Would 100% recommend this place and it really should be a tourist hot spot as well as a local favorite.   Amazing experience - I couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face! Got lucky that a group of locals came with their musical instruments and treated the whole restaurant to several hours of lively Portuguese folk songs. What a festive atmosphere!   Friendly neighborhood restaurant but with some taste. Plenty of paid street parking. And their staff helped us to find a nearby ATM and taught us how to use the paid parking machine. As mentioned the only weird thing is the jets over head off but it is not an issue. The food and size proportions are perfect. Best fish dishes we have had and we have been in Portugal for four weeks. The price point is around 10 E for main. The wine selection is good and well priced.   Lucimar looked like it was a genuine locals restaurant with great reviews and was only twenty minutes from our hotel so we turned up on chance, luckily they squeezed us in as they were fully booked later in the evening so booking is recommended. We had the farinheira as a starter and I had the grilled cod as main - both were excellent, the cod was a huge fillet and perfectly cooked and sat on a bed of new potatoes and vegetables. The staff were very friendly and helpful despite the language barrier and it really felt like we were in a proper Portuguese restaurant not a tourist version of one.   Superb for local Portuguese food worth the visit. There are apparently two - one more fancier, we ate at the regular taverna type one. We had grilled turkey, the cuttlefish and a vegetarian dish.   This place is such a secret wonder. We arrived here to a fully booked place with no reservations. Here's where the magic starts. The front of house were very accommodating although I figured they weren't too impressed with our random turn up. Still, they seated us in a spot we requested, then helped us determine what we were ordering from Google review pictures. Where I really appreciated their insight was their advice that we were a little overzealous with our orders of a main meal per person and a dessert each... which they quickly suggested that we order later in case our eyes were hungrier than our stomachs. Meals done, we demolished the desserts. And then ordered another round of their famous.... dessert.... lol... if you haven't figured out by now, I have little knowledge of what I ate because I completely trusted their front of house... and the 5 star rating says a whole heap of my experience. Ooooooh. One more thing.... sometimes if you're lucky, they have a secret desert that's not in the menu... make sure you ask them about it.   Wanting to experience a more local flavor outside the touristy area we went to Lucimar which was not far from our hotel and were totally impressed by not only the food but the service we received. Being that we were one of two couples that were tourists we knew we made the right choice for us. My wife had an outstanding pork tenderloin while I opted for the sea bass as they were out of sardines and it too was delicious with tender fish cooked in a garlic butter sauce. We enjoyed talking to our server (owner perhaps?) who was proud of the establishment and offered us a shot of Moscatel which was a wonderful end to our meal. He mentioned that they were going to open another location in a month and hope it has the same charm and character as this one.   This place is adorable. ♥️ You can tell that these people love what they do. The food is delicious! We had the specialty sandwich with the egg on top and the whole calamari / squid. The calamari was tender, juicy, full of flavor, crispy on the outside, and served with delicious slices vegetables. Fresh, light, tasty, & very filling! The sandwich is displayed on every wall of their restaurant. Newspapers have written about it (in Portuguese so I didn’t read what it said) & I’d say it’s a no brainer for anyone who wants to try something authentic. The meat in the sandwich is flavorful, the cheese is a nice touch and the sauce is finger licking good. Really, a must try. We saw other plates served that looked really good like the cod and the grilled steak. We wish we could stay in Lisbon longer to taste all their food. We were pretty full so weren’t planning on having desert but the owners offered us a slice of a delicious pie with a milky cheese custard filling. It was so good! I saved this restaurant in my favorites for next time we’re in Lisbon & I’ll be telling my friends! Staff is always very helpful, courteous, and can at least manage with English speaking.   Very authentic place. Even though it is quite popular amongst tourists due to good reviews it remains Portuguese at it's heart and you can feel it in the service, the warmth from the staff as well as in the food they serve. We ordered Francesinha which was surprisingly good (we heard mixed opinions about this dish) and gildhead which was also good (plenty of garlic) but had too many bones for my liking so would go for the cod next time.   Amazing food, the best I have had in 3 years of living in Lisbon in relation to the price- very very good value. Friendly staff, beautiful dining room, they even have us a free muscatel and a free extra dessert which was like a delicious warm creme brulee on a crumbled cookie base... so, so good 100% recommend!   Best francesinha I've had in Lisbon! The service was fast, friendly and efficient. The food was outstandingly delicious, which also includes the cheesecake we had for desert. I ordered the Francesinha, was tasty but personally that dish has to many flavors so is hard to enjoy. The other dishes I saw look very tasty too.   The service here was good and the food was also good. I came for the franciscina and it was tasty but not the best I have had. I also tried the vegetarian version of the sandwich witch was tasty too but not worth getting again, it's too far off from the traditional taste.   Great local food and wonderful service. The owner brought us Muscatel wine after dinner as a gift. The olives they serve at the table are delicious! Made with oranges and herbs. House wine is good.   They serve the best sea food I have ever eaten in my life. I've even literally started to looking for a new trip with a few hours stop in Lisbon just to visit this place again. My girlfriend miss a green vine they serve from local winery which was also outstanding.   It was awesome. I had a filet steak and the seasoning was just perfect. A rare steak with french fries and some rice is the perfect combination. We checked the TripAdvisor for good restaurants and this was at the top of the list. It still lives up to it's name I'm sure of it. The prices are affordable and it is almost crowded. We sat next to the police law enforcement :) so we can say we felt pretty safe here. The only bummer is the 20min walk from the VIP hotel Zurique because in Lisbon the parking spaces are rare or full. Either way we have plenty of time so...
