  Can’t help but putting 5 stars on everything . This place is such a wonderful gem . I feel loved when I had her food , the chef is a lovely woman spent her time in Asia (Indonesia ) and created fusion asian Portuguese menu which is hard to find in lisbon . This place is more than a restaurant , loved it . Thanks the chef and her husband for a wonderful night and the servers are kind too , sadly I didn’t have any cash to tip them but surely I will double tip next time here .   We were searching for a place to eat on a Saturday night and we tried our luck without a reservation. Fortunately there was a table available and they accepted us. The restaurant is in a small ally. It has two parts - lounge and restaruant. We sat in the restaurant part, which only had 7/8 tables. But the atmosphere was very cosy and romantic. The menu was quite unique and dishes were specially designed by the owner Ana. It was lovely to hear the story behind the menu from her as she also worked in the restaurant and interacted with the guests. The food was very good and our shrimp, cod and salmon all tasted very fresh. The service was very attentive and accommodating. They had no issue of making us sangria when requested, despite it wasn't on the drinks menu. My only suggestion is that if the bread can be served warm and butter to be served softer, it would be perfect!   I was recommended to go to Pastanaga on my trip to Lisbon, and it did not disappoint!! The atmosphere was cosy, and my partner and I were during our meal warmly welcomed by the owners. We had shrimp curry and "moquequa"; the latter now an absolute favorite in our household! After a busy holiday, eating here felt like visiting your favorite aunt.   It's astounding and unbelievable how this establishment has such flawless reviews. The pork tenderloin was bland with almost no flavors or texture and the portion size was very small. The duck rice also the portion is the size of the palm of your hand with again, bland and uninspiring flavors. The prices for these dishes was outrageous. I would avoid this place at all costs.   Go here for a romantic dinner with phenomenal food. I had the tuna, rare, with a bottle of red. The restaurant is down a charming, narrow road, which adds a ton to the experience. The restaurant is very small, with only a few tables, and the servers were very attentive but not intrusive. It was decorated very classy, perfectly dim lighting, and well selected music in the background. We finished the meal with a chocolate soufflé with berries, which my wife raved over. We were made to feel welcome even before walking in the door. The service was warm, friendly, personal and professional. The team checked in on us, ensuring our expectations were being exceeded. They made thoughtful and experienced suggestions. Food was straightforward and executed perfectly. Manuel spoiled us with his wine and port knowledge and made us feel both special and comfortable.   This restaurant has 2 spaces on the same street & they ferry the food from one to the other. We were sitting at a table near the door, so this was a bit distracting. The service can only be described as very individual. My partner was offered 4 wines to taste before he chose his glass. The menu reflects a lot of influences. My partner had chicken sate sticks for a starter & I had tuna with an Asian twist for my main. We enjoyed both courses. The souffle for dessert was a bit dry for me, but the mousse was delicious.   WOW... Just WOW! Random Google search turned up this little hidden gem. Located between the hustle and bustle and big buildings... Well worth seeking it out. From the beginning, we KNEW it was gonna be great. Not the biggest wine drinker, we were given the chance to taste several wines based on what we told them we liked. Found the PERFECT one and didn't feel forced to drink a wine we didn't like. If you like White Wine... HIGHLY recommend the Lua Chela, pictured. The appetizers were AMAZING. My friend could not stop savoring the amazing flavor of the garlic shrimp. The entrees had the same flavor and were equally AMAZING. My friend had the tuna steak while I had the duck rice and BOTH were SPLENDID! We got to the dessert, shared an apple turnover with ice cream... And WOW. More WOW WOW WOW! It was so tasty and flaky and the combination of ice cream made it SUPERB! SO GOOD! The service was great.   I can’t express how much we enjoyed our meal at Pastanaga. The attention to detail and the level of communication was above and beyond. I have to say that I experienced something that has never happened to me in any restaurant ever before. My wife and I had been out and dinner was late so we had a few drinks already and ordering a bottle with dinner was too much. So each ordered a glass, I ordered a green wine, I wanted to try it not something I would ever order and my wife a Syrah. The owner brought over 5 different bottles and we proceeded to have an impromptu tasting with the all of the local information on each wine. After tasting all the wines we both enjoyed the Syrah aged in port barrels. I was truly in amazement that what was a simple request turned into such a wonderful experience. My wife put it best it felt like we were dining at a home of a friend not at a restaurant.   Amazing restaurant with knowledgeable staff who will provide a wine tasting and recommendations based on what you have ordered. You can sit inside or outside but I’d recommend making a reservation. The food is delicious and you truly cannot go wrong with whatever you order. We took recommendations from our lovely server and they were all spot on.   I had big expectations for the food with all the good reviews. Sadly my girlfriend and I were both disappointed with the food. I took the cheese ball with fruits as a starter and it wasn’t special in any way. For main dishes, we took the duck with rice (looked like a fried rice more than anything else) and the shepherds’s pie and again very basic with no special flavour. We tried the chocolate mousse for desert and it was super liquid, more like a pudding. Overall the service was super good (the chef came like 3 times to make sure everything was fine) but the food was meh. Wine service was superb nonetheless. Prices were definitely on the high size (100€ for 2 with wine) compared to the other restaurants we went to. Maybe it’s just us but we think that the great service is really pushing the restaurant reviews up while the food looks like the second priority. Enjoy Lisbon!   We ordered the cheeseball with dried fruits, the mini aubergines, the soup, the seared tuna, the beef stroganoff and the cold cod on hummus. The aubergines and stroganoff were delicious - the rest was pretty terrible. The cod was inedible. The flavor was terrible for the fish and the hummus (which also had a bad texture). The tuna was fine but the sauce on it was not good. The soup was ok. It also took twice as long as every other restaurant in Lisbon to get a check (and it’s already a normal to wait a while) even on a not so busy night. Stick to the aubergines and stroganoff or pass on this restaurant. The food was, without exception, bland - nicely presented but lacking any flavour or interest. The staff, whilst perfectly pleasant, were not interested in our experience of the food.   The best food i’ve had in Portugal. The service was impeccable the ambiance was perfect. It was so good we practically cleaned the plates for them. The chef came out to ask how we’re doing and it was amazing to see a female chef at that. She was wonderful and kind just like the rest of the staff.   Honestly the BEST food we had in Lisbon. Everything we ordered was absolutely perfect especially the shepherds pie (best I’ve ever had in my life).   Food tasted like it was giving my mouth a hug. Genuinely one of the best restaurants I've been to. Highly recommend ordering the Roasted Chorizo. Order it, don't ask questions and enjoy what comes because it's special - and more than just a dish. We got the Chorizo, Soup of the Day and Duck Rice which was all amazing.   I will start by saying I'm sorry I dont have pictures of the food. When the food is amazing, you forget to take pictures, i guess. For starters, the restaurant is based in a really charming street, not crowded neither quiet: perfection! You can seat inside or outside (try at esplanada!) We were in a crowd of 4 to spend 2 days in Lisbon, anxious to taste great food, and I must say that I'm writing this Review in our second and last day. In a row. We decided no to taste any other restaurant for dinner, Just because we were absolutely amazed by ALL dishes, no joke! We have tried the cod fish in cream sauce, poultry pie, duck rice, moqueca and salmon. Half of the menu, almost hahahaha. Each one was going bigger than the other, seriously. For me as a person from Brazil, and Pernambuco, I have to say that Ana's memory of her moqueca (read her menu!!) is spot on and she gave me a plane ticket to hometown through her food. Not to make this a book or seem that I'm being paid to write It (which im not, just to be 100% clear haha), everything from Pastanaga is Just incredibly outstanding great. All crew and service was perfect and Ana (the chefowner) and Sergey (known as Manoel) have big hearts, amazing stories to Tell, and are Just simply warm-hearted and Sweet! The negative: We felt a bit rushed, bit over priced and if a wine list was simply presented right from the start, then we could have enjoyed our wine with our meal. We began with a white port aperitif and a conversation with Chef Anna to decide how we should spend our culinary adventure. Our fantastic server, Damien, helped us choose a perfect bottle of wine to enjoy with the roasted aubergine with feta and honey, the cod Ala braz and the duck rice. I just felt for the money the food and vibe just didn't match. it was the most expensive meal of our trip in Lisbon and we ate in some really nice places. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful but Ana was brilliant, taking the time to explain the menu, answer questions and telling us a little about her personal journey as a chef.   Hands down, best dinner we had in Lisbon. Tried them all and decided this was the one to keep coming back to. This is a spot to come and treat yourself. All the staff were wonderful but a huge acknowledgement to Damian who was our waiter on the night as he was brilliant. His choice of wine, port and aperitif cocktail pairings were excellent, and fully backed up by his willingness to impart knowledge of the foods from Portugal.   This little gem of a restaurant is located near Green Street (worth a stop on the way here to check out!). The food was top notch. Definitely the best fish dish I have had in Lisbon (ask the staff, they'll know). The stewed rabbit was lovely too. We had the lemon tart for dessert and it's probably the best tart I have ever had. The wine selection was amazing too. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Except to wait a bit when they get busy as it's a small, family run business but the entire experience is worth it. I tried nearly every dish of our dozens group, and each was more interesting, unique, and stunning than the last. Each dish is intricately designed and carefully crafted from personal experiences of the chef, Ana. She was passionately involved with every step of our meal, making every moment feel like we were loved in "her kitchen." Even more than the food, the experience I will never forget. My rabbit stew was only a 3 week old interesting variation of her grandmother's receipe as a play on an old portugese classic. Amazing. Imma say again: amazing. They hosted us, a group of 12 for a birthday party, the day of! Gave us a whole half of the restaurant for our enjoyment. Calling us about accommodating us as SOON as they opened. Chef Ana is inviting and welcomes us to the. restaurant with open arms dispute me not showing up to the reservation the day before (long story but I just couldn't make it). We ordered a lot - shrimp with garlic (very good), Portugese tapas (excellent fresh sardine), duck rice (interesting version different than traditional but excellent), cod baked in parchment paper (phenomenal), poultry filo pie (outstanding). For dessert we had house made lemon pie and chocolate soufflé, both outstanding. High recommend the restaurant as we feel like being welcomed personally by the chef.   Our family can’t praise this restaurant enough. Chef Ana mingled with us throughout the meal going through the menu and bringing out fun games for the kids (pick up sticks and colouring).   Food was ok but the overall experience couldn't have gone worst. They didn't have the food we ordered... Three times. One dish was nothing special, like stuff you can buy in a supermarket (olives, sardines and tuna, none freshly cooked). The replacement of the stuff we wanted and they didn't have was twice as expensive (of course!) and when it was first presented to us it was an empty pot still dirty with the last food they served there. To end things, payment was no really working and we had to go inside to pay which wouldn't have been an issue under normal circumstances but since nothing was normal, let's add this as well. Eles não tinham a comida que pedimos. Três vezes. Um prato não tinha nada de especial, como coisas que você pode comprar no supermercado (azeitonas, sardinhas e atum, nenhum cozido na hora). A reposição das coisas que queríamos e eles não tinham era duas vezes mais cara (claro!) e quando nos foi apresentada pela primeira vez era uma panela vazia ainda suja com a última comida que serviram ali. Para finalizar, o pagamento não estava funcionando e tivemos que entrar para pagar, o que não teria sido um problema em circunstâncias normais, mas como nada estava normal, vamos acrescentar isso também. Não recomendaria este lugar. A nossa menor experiência em Portugal.

  What a great and charming people own that place! The food is amazing, we ate the best dishes during the whole trip in Lisbon here; atmosphere is also perfect. For sure I will come back to Manuel and Anna with my next trip and I fully recommend that place to everyone!   Wonderful restaurants, wonderful staff and wonderful location. We had a fantastic meal - and the service couldn’t have been better. The waiter was attentive, and the chef came out to speak to us and ensure everything was ok! Wonderful gem of a restaurant - garlic prawns were fab!   We had luck to turn right into a small street one afternoon, looking for a place to eat like locals would do, tired of touristic places. What supposed to be a regular lunch turned into an unexpected experience! Brave and well combined ingredients orchestrated by Chef Ana B. made traditional Portuguese dishes into delightful meals. We returned for more same day, but dinner time. We got great time with Pastanaga team! Excellent wine selection, well created menu, atmosphere and ambient made our day in Lisbon rememberable! Although tourists, we felt for a few hours like we belong here, in beautiful capital city of Portugal.   The other night I stumbled upon Restaurante Pastanga and it takes the accolade of the best meal and eating experience in Lisbon. Which says a lot! As I’ve been in Lisbon 10 days and the thing that’s blown me away is how brilliant the food has been. Every meal has been incredible and Pastanga topped it. I had 4 dishes and each one was unique and amazingly tasty, the flavours were perfectly balanced. The restaurant was only around 20 outdoor seats, but the cosy setting was part of the charm, as it meant the owners were able to be hands on with you. They were both very charming and added to the experience. I really loved this place and think you won’t be disappointed if you want a nice dinner down one of Lisbon’s many cute narrow cobbled streets. O restaurante tinha apenas cerca de 20 lugares ao ar livre, mas o ambiente aconchegante fazia parte do charme, pois significava que os proprietários podiam estar presentes com você. Ambos eram muito charmosos e acrescentaram à experiência. Eu realmente adorei este lugar e acho que você não ficará desapontado se quiser um bom jantar em uma das muitas ruas estreitas de Lisboa.

  Hidden away on a small side street off the beaten tourist track, this was a fantastic find. The space is quite small and intimate, very true bistro style and not at all what one usually finds in smaller Lisbon lunch places. . The owner Ana is the chef and server and it was just like being invited to her home for a lovely lunch. The food is so good, try the delicious duck rice and the Goan shrimp curry which were both fantastic. The place is so relaxing. The service was attentive and informative and we could have stayed all afternoon! A great find.
