  Just wanted to note the super unfriendly and unwelcoming attitude of the staff here when we visited at noon. It took us 2-3 tries to even get the attention of staff, and when asked of availability they were very dismissive. The restaurant was very full inside but we saw a few small free tables outside that could be merged together for our group of 3, but we were rudely rejected and further attempts to discuss were blatantly ignored.   Fantastic little gem of a place, just off the beaten track 50 yards from the main road. Please try for lunch, we went just after 12pm on a Tuesday and there was a large queue at 1pm!   This is what I love about finding a place and being very surprised when it's excellent. We stood on the road and could see maybe 10 restaurants. So we went to the one we couldn't see. The place was really busy but we managed to get a table. Menu want massive or usual. We went for a sharing session. Veal carpaccio with rocket and parmesan. Caper dressing. Excellent. I think it needed salt but wifey disagreed. We had to get the burrata as it's a personal favourite. This was with honey and mustard which I found intriguing. And delicious. The anomaly of a choice was the truffle pasta. It was a side. It sounded too good so we got it. I think it was the best thing I ate in Portugal. Including Porto... We even shared a desert. It was naughty. Peanut mousse with ice cream in a brandy snap basket. Loved it. Glad we shared it. The staff were lovely. The ambience was lovely. The food, some of the best.   Amazing food, nice service, absolutely pleasant place to dine in! We had carbonara, gnochi with ragu and prawn pasta, and all of them tasted great. Staff was friendly and attentive, noticed that we were going to share the dishes and brought extra cutleries and plates so that we could do so. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants some quiet time away from touristic places at Belem and also some nice food.   Highly recommend. This is a hidden gem. We had a wide variety of dishes and all were very good. The starters (octopus, cod croquettes, hams, veal carpaccio) were all amazing. The marines very good.   Food is overrated, hard to chew beef, the sardines were fresh, but not cleaned. Edit: I understand that it is traditional to serve sardines whole. I personally don't like the black insides of the fish. When I have eaten sardines outside of Portugal they have been cleaned, hence my comment.   A very nice place where the food is fresh and delicious! The staff is absolutely lovely and super polite. I paid 40€ for two main dishes, one side, and two coffees, which is not that expensive considering the very touristy area the restaurant is in.   I was actually excited to write this review for a well deserving restaurant! I absolutely loved this restaurant. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. The presentation was that of a very high end establishment. I had the seared tuna and my husband had the Portuguese steak. We also had the cheese board and the peanut butter dessert by recommendation of Miguel, I don’t normally order peanut butter desserts but that dessert was something else!!! The peanut butter was a fluffy but crunchy mousse with a sweet flaky shell. BUT THE TUNA!!! The portobello mushroom, filled with mashed potatoes and a creamy gravy, perfectly seared tuna topped with an amazing wasabi slaw (very light flavor) not overpowering.   We thought that this restaurant slightly apart from the main tourist high street and with seemingly good reviews would be a good find, but we were mistaken. We were the first people to be sat for lunch, but they then sat the next few tables immediately next to us despite plenty of space, making us feel crowded. They offer bread and olives as soon as you sit without telling you you have to pay for them, which luckily we realised and refused, but we heard other tables complain about it. The food was very poor. Extremely dry cod, full of bones, with greasy oily sauces, and not cheap for what you get. I would not recommend eating here.   Cute little restaurant that needs to be booked prior your visit. The atmosphere is very nice and chilled. After initially checking the menu we quickly noticed majority of foods contained alcohol. The waiter was very helpful and accommodating and the chef offered to create some of the menu without alcohol in it. The food was very comforting and a very fair price.   It did take us 45-50 mins to get a table for two, unfortunately the food was awful. We got the shrimp and asparagus pasta and the cream sauce had a strong sour aftertaste so I could not finish it, the shrimp was cut but NOT deveined so I could see and had to extract the cooked veins by the chunk from each grilled prawn. The cod dish had the toughest driest cod we had this trip and was overly salted. The only redeeming dish was the chocolate mousse, but we found a strand of undissolved gelatin in it.   Maybe Belem isn’t best place to find food. No Portuguese eating here when we went. Tuna dish seemed odd. Seared only on one side with some sauce on a portobello type mushroom head and piled with crispy fried onions. Most expensive meal of its type that we’ve had in Portugal and certainly not best. Sorry, I’m sure the guys are trying but was a mistake for us.   Fantastic food, fenomenal deserts and very very nice staff. The restaurant is also very close to the ferry station (10 min by foot), but it's hidden away in a side road so it's not an obvious choice for many, although it was full of people a couple hours after opening.   Easily the best food we have had in Portugal. Had a selection of starters and each was superb. Also had a couple of beers, wine and desert. The waiting staff could not have been more helpful. The location in a side street meant that it wasn’t too busy sitting outside. Cannot recommend highly enough. Wish we found it sooner in our trip as we would have gone every day.   We ate here a few months ago and had a good experience. This time was abysmal. We were told to wait ten minutes for a table, fifteen minutes later (standing outside in the hot sun) we were told they could not seat us : they had no table for three people. So we had to find another place to eat. Don’t waste your time with this rude restaurant, there are plenty of choices around. Edit: The restaurant response was that "table occupancy time is uncertain" - the issue was not that it took longer than they said, the issue was that after assuring us that we could get a table, that they could not accommodate three people (shrug) that's it, end of story.   I was very cautious ordering food here and I got their Ferreiros steak, I said I like it well done, they recommended medium or raw. I also asked to change fries into salads. They got my request, brought the steak, it was almost raw, I tried it and it was the best steak of my life. It was incredibly good. Also, the salad were without dressing which was peeeerfect, exactly how I asked. The desserts were absolutely gorgeous. Now this is my favorite place in Lisbon.   Probably the best restaurant in the Belém area. The arrived exactly at the closing time 22:00 and we were starving(just got back from a trip to Porto). The owner and staff were super friendly to stay open for another hour and prepare a nice dinner for us. You need to try the crispy tuna(appetizer). It is out of this world.   A small restaurant almost hidden in a small alley next to the Botanical Garden on a one-way street. Staff is very friendly. We ordered grilled sardines and vegetarian burger that tasted really good. But we also ordered chicken salad and a cod dish that weren't especially good. A very likeable place though.   Waited ages. At the moment when food was eventually put on the counter to be bright to the table, a waiter broke a glass on the counter just next to our plates.When I raised a concern about potential glass pieces in the dish I was offered a replacement. After waiting again it turned out it wasn’t real replacement but rather my rejected fish was grilled again. The fish was burnt, tasteless due to over-cooking, garnish cold and could only eat the fish inside leaving the skin and garnish aside not to eat potential glass pieces. Avoid!   This place is one of those hidden gems in the middle of a tourist jungle. Nice staff and owner, normal humans not trying to sell you more than you need. Had a beautiful steak for 11,50eur which would've been 30+EUR in Ireland. The house wine was very good, too. Recommended!   We were trying to escape the packed places next to the Belem bakery and found this restaurant at a quiet street. The service, the food and the ambiance were really nice. I recommend the cheese platter, a lovely selection of Portuguese cheeses. Worth the shot!   Two words: Pork Rib. If only I could give this restaurant 10 stars... I'm writing this review on my second visit to the taberna. We made a detour from our original route so we could eat here again. 1) The staff here is superfriendly. Genuinely nice people. 2) the location is sublime, in a small, quiet alley right off main Street. The interior is lovely as well. 3) the food: Waw, just waw. The pork rib (w/ red fruit sauce and sweet potato puree) was one of the best dishes I've ever had. For 11€. 11!!!! You will not find a better restaurant in Belem. Or Lisbon. Or probably Portugal 😊.
