  Avoid this place, our experience was a complete disaster. We had reserved a table and when we arrived we had to wait 10 minutes to get a table and the whole service was a joke. We ordered a soup that arrived cold and our other starters were completely forgotten by the waiter that took our order… When the main dishes arrived we asked about our other starters and the waiter just informed us that she had forgotten to place the order. Of course, if you had the courtesy to write down our order and not just make silly jokes, that wouldn’t have happened… A very big disappointment, just spend your money somewhere else, would not recommend it at all.   This restaurant was recommended as being able to accommodate the gluten-free needs of celiacs. My wife and I visited in September and were very happy it was recommended to us. The restaurant has a very nice and unique ambiance and can get quite busy. As there was a lineup before it opened, we were lucky to get a table with a view of the city below us. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her piri piri chicken which was accompanied by yummy shoestring fries (yes, they did say it’s a safe fryer!). I had the black pork abanicos and I too was not disappointed. We would have liked to linger and enjoy the restaurant’s unique mood but needed to get up early to travel on to Lagos.   My girlfriend and I came here for her birthday and it was one of the nicest meals I’ve ever had. I have worked with Michelin level chefs and the food in this restaurant was up there. Rafael, our server, was knowledgeable and friendly and he also told us that the chef used to have a Michelin star a long time ago and I could tell because the food was amazing… and reasonably priced. We had 3 courses (I had 2 starters) and a few cocktails each which came to less than €150 total. Bargain for the quality of food they serve. The menu at the restaurant was a complete different one than the one you can find online on google maps and the food was brought to the table lukewarm. Also, the staff was not particularly friendly.   DONT go here, the upstairs tooftop is a tourist trap and it’s really overpriced with mid food. Biews aren’t even good either. I asked if I could sit downstairs and they said no 💀 they seat all the tourists upstairs and all the locals downstairs with all the good food.   This was the first restaurant we tried once we arrived in Lisbon and we were pleasantly impressed. The octopus with sweet potatoes were delicious, the salad portions were decent, fresh and very tasty. The view is breathtaking from their restaurant. Highly recommend!   I thought this place was a great find. My food was very good, the wine our waitress recommended was fantastic and the view really adds to the place. It was a nice relaxed boozy lunch. Lovely sunny day and very quiet, we went off season, perhaps it can get hectic in the busy months which explain some of the lower reviews but I really had no complaints, it was all brilliant and I felt the prices were fair also.   This place should have much better reviews! The service was awesome and the food was incredible! We literally went two days in a row because we wanted to try the fine dining upstairs. Some of the best sea bass I’ve ever had!!! Also downstairs was lively with music and laughter and the drinks were fantastic!!!!!! Lots of explanation points I know, but I would be doing Chapitô à Mesa a disservice if I didn’t give it a proper review.   While on the expensive side (45€pp for drinks and dinner) the view in this restaurant is unmatched. Food was tasty and well presented, personally recommend the tartar and the tuna steak.   As others recommend, show up on the earlier side for your table that outlooks the water for a wonderful night out. This was one of my favorite meals in Lisbon by far. The stars of the show were the peri peri chicken (I cannot recommend this highly enough!) and a side of veggies (surprisingly flavorful). My husband got the steak, which was also delicious. I was in awe of this meal. The photo of the water was the view while we waited for the restaurant to open.   We took a tour of Lisbon and after a walking tour, helicopter ride and a river cruise, we needed a break. Our Uber dropped us off too soon but it was for the best as we discovered this place. Great view, great food, Isabela was a great server! Had the steak. Our group had a little of everything. Well worth it!   This is the second time I have been here on my second trip to Lisbon. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to relax and enjoy the ambience, as well as the amazing view. I have been told to go at sunset, which is supposed to be even more spectacular. The upstairs dining area was very nice. I enjoyed a white sangria this time as well as the chocolate pot, dessert, shrimp, and a few other appetizers, because we were eating our way through. Lol. Highly recommend!   Beautiful views!! The food was really good. We split the piri piri chicken (plenty of it for 2!) and then got 2 desserts for the table. My favorite was the cheesecake.   We were greeted warmly by a bubbly waitstaff who was fantastic. We were seated down promptly having a view. We ordered our meal and i was recommended by the waitress that the special of the day was very good and it was bacon so we ordered that. I note that she skipped my question about the other pork dish i enquired. Out came the food, all were on point except the 'bacon' which turns out to be pork loin. The person who wanted that dish didnt mind it but the meat was still a bit pink and he couldnt have that. It was probably the owner of the restaurant perhaps, who understood the issue and said we can change if we wanted but we opted to ask for extra grill on the pork loin slices. He also asked who took our order. Nevertheless, the food were all great!! We were going to get a second bottle.of wine but the waitress took too long to come back so we paid and left.   This is definitely a place I would come to again, I recommend booking in advance. We didn't and had to wait about 25 minute's to be seated which was well worth the wait.   Bad experience. We were looking forward to this reservation based on the reviews , but when we got there got sat on the upper restaurant with a completely different (overpriced and limited) menu. Ordered the octopus which was just rice with 2 small pieces of octopus at the bottom. Not even tasty or slightly worth the 28 euros we paid for.   Had a horrible experience here. Was so excited to dine here from all of the good reviews. Got sent upstairs with extremely overpriced and substandard food. Octopus was 90% rice minimal octopus with little to no toppings. Was not impressed. Overall disappointing.   It is a really nice place to have dinner in Lisbon, well in the ground floor with the regular menu or in the first floor with the hihg-level one. It is important to book a place in advance and tell the guys to give you a table with views. Average price, including wine and tip, is less than 40€/px. In the first floor I recommend the caesar salad, the steak tartar, the tomato salad with smoked sardines, the octopus with black rice, the codfish "a bras" and do not forget to taste the deserts! My favorite one the sweet rice with caramel and crunchy peanuts.   The wait staff was incredibly kind and made for a great atmosphere and experience. Our girl Francesca was a gem. The location and lookout was beautiful and the ambiance for dinner couldn’t be beat.   We had dinner on the upper level last night, and ordered from a menu that seemed very different from the photos I’ve seen here online. I thought it was simply that the menu had changed and that its prices had gone up. Service was friendly but sparse, and the staff passed by our table to give us our food and check only, not really to check in on us or if we needed anything (we didn’t). I ordered something called “pressed lamb” and my husband ordered the octopus dish. Both were good but didn’t come with any sides (such as a small salad). Each dish was €26. Pricier than I remember seeing online. It wasn’t until we were leaving the restaurant and made our way to the lower level where we were exiting that I saw other guests eating grilled sea bass (which was what I had intended to get going there!), some chicken, French fries - overall, a more relaxed atmosphere, which would have been our preference. There was no way to indicate which floor we would have wanted to reserve for, nor was there any notice that there were different menus. Although staff were friendly and food was generally good on the upper level, I would have been much happier with the food choices on the second level, and wish we were presented with the option.   A really nice place with a great view, good food, and along with good service. What pushed me to give 3 stars, is the fact that the receptionist insisted that we go and sit on the first floor. While leaving, we noticed that on the open space area they had nicer seats with a bigger variety of local dishes...and cheaper options. If we initially had that explanation, we might have gone with the same upper place... it wasn't a nice gesture from the receptionist.   They changed the menu in the Restaurant upstairs and it is not as good as it used to. The view and the staff are still great but for example the octopus with rice was not as good as just the grilled octopus with sweet potatoes that they used to serve.   Really disappointing. We arrived at the restaurant and waited more than an hour for our food because they had either lost or forgotten about our order.There were larger tables who arrived 20-30 minutes after us getting our food before us. It was only until we asked the waiter AGAIN until they finally started cooking our meal. I guess they didn’t want us to wait any longer so they rushed our food, and this caused our codfish to be really over cooked and have a really strange texture. We ended up just not eating and after paying I overheard one of the waiters, who was never really friendly to begin with, complaining that we “didn’t even tip anything” why would we tip anything for this poor service? I was really disappointed and had really high hopes for this place.   The service is terrible. We had wine and appetizers which took an hour Ok. It then took 1.5 hours to get dessert and the check. The waitress just disappeared. The staff was helpful and offered a good place with a nice view. The food was good - I especially recommend small dishes, which you can share with friends.   What an awesome location to enjoy some delicious Portuguese food. We didn’t make a reservation and were quite lucky to find a table—but right after we were seated, the place got super crowded. So rather make a reservation to ensure you have a lovely dinner here. We got the octopus and steak and they were both super tender and well done. The fries tasted like double fried and simply perfect. It was my first time trying green wine and I can say it tastes really good. We enjoyed the caramel pudding and the chocolate mousse and these too were simply on point. There was simply nothing to complain about, it was a great dinner and the atmosphere was very beautiful. If you make a reservation you may even get one of the tables with the ocean view. The service was very fast and the waiters are super kind and friendly. Really happy to have found this restaurant!   We had dinner there yesterday and the view was amazing. The whole location was cozy and the waitress Vania was very kind and helped us getting along. My few negative points ate that the vegetarian menu contains only one option and this restaurant is expensive. To conclude, I would recommend this restaurant in general and wish you a nice stay.   I still cannot wrap my head around this. We looked at this google listing and decided the menu looked great, so I booked with the restaurant directly through this google listing. When we arrived, downstairs looked great and I could see people looking at the menu we had looked at online. There was a bit of a line to get a table, but when the waitress came up to us I told her we had a reservation. We were then taken upstairs away from the nice atmosphere and views downstairs and handed a completely different menu in which everything was 3 times the price???   Situated on a hill overlooking Old Lisbon it offers amazing views. It is actually a circus school, with a restaurant and a bar. You walk up a circular staircase to get to the restaurant. I chose two small items and a beer. I felt the service was a bit absent, but the food was OK, and the beer cold. We had a variety of small plates, fish, meat, and veggie — all were delicious. One small downside — we were slow to get all the drinks.   Good overall. Yet, not perfect. 1 star less because: I ordered octopus with finger lime. I use to eat octopus in many restaurant in Lisbon, it's very good. But it doesn't need to be 25€. What convinced me to order it was the finger lime coming with it ! This beautiful fruit full of mystery, I wanted to try it for years! Well, how disappointed was I when I noticed that my dish came without any finger lime in it... I asked the waiter for it. He says it was mixed inside. Well it wasn't! Didn't taste like it, didn't saw it. Was simply not in my dish! I would have prefer to take another dish in the first place then. Guess I'll be careful when eating here next time.   We had a great time here. We just wandered up on a Monday night. Was not busy so were able to grab a nice table. Prices were good for this area and really enjoyed our olive plate an excellent bottle of red. Then moved to a gazpacho with marinated octopus and some cod with salted potatoes along with greens and a tomato salad. This was the first place we stopped in Lisbon and it was a great introduction to the city everytime we walked by afterwards we thought fondly. Service was excellent with good recommendation on the wine. They also have excellent views depending on where you are seated.   We stumbled across this and it has been one of the best restaurants we’ve had in Lisbon. We ordered the octopus and piri piri chicken, both very well cooked especially the chicken - the flavours just explodes in your mouth.   The food was pretty good and the view was nice. Unfortunately, we were very unlucky with our service staff. At first we had a really friendly waitress. But as soon as two large tables came in a little bit later we got completely ignored for the rest of the evening. We waited 50 minutes for our entrees. And after we finished the main course we sat with empty glasses and plates in front of us for around 40 minutes until somebody got them (without asking if we want something else). The waitress who helped out was very rude. Barked at us to hand her the empty plates, didn't listen when we asked for something and so on. We ordered some desert and she left before we could add "... and some tea." At some point the initial waitress came and apologized for the bad service and then dumped us on the one helping out again. So we waited another 30 minutes for the check. It started out very nice but at the end we only wanted to leave.   The service was painfully slow. I recommend you look at the menu before and know what you are going to order. The staff was very kind and they were so busy.   We didn’t have reservation so we had to wait for 20 min but it was worth it. Great wine recommendation, the cheese platter and swordfish salad were excellent as starters and the delicious main dishes were burger + peri peri chicken spicy but not too much.   REVIEW UPDATE as of 26/10/22: I went here again a couple days ago and I didn’t know they were transitioning into a new menu. I was a little sad because I was looking forward to getting the grilled octopus with sweet potatoes and spinach again (my fave food there) and they already took it out of the menu. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed my dinner with a great company and the new food we tried turned out great as well. This time, we had veal steak with sweet potatoes and rice with duck meat and kumquat (found that one strange at first but it actually tasted good).   So yes, this is amazing place with extremely beautiful view into Lisbon. Very famous and touristic. My recommendation - book a table in advance! Many people stay in line and don’t receive seats in the end. Interior is very beautiful as well, but the view here the main reason to visit! I didn’t had dinner here. But Irish coffee and dessert. Drink was good, creme brulee with tangerine ice cream as well, but something fantastic. Would like to come back to try some food. Didn’t like service much. The service was nice, people are very warm and good listener, the host was very nice and lovely. The veal croquette and the morue accras as a starter were a very nice choice. I put 4 stars because I believe that the meat in the côtes grillées aux pommes de terre rustique was too cooked and too salty but the garnish was very good.   The squid was very good. We ordered a pork sausage as well which was raw on the inside and had to be taken back to the barbecue, I would avoid the sausage and stick to the seafood.   Wow. Had a wonderful meal here...the bacalhau dish was sensational - seasoned and garnished to perfection. Quite amazing. A little noisy, but with a great views of the coast beneath. The service could be improved as one of our friend ordered 3 times for a beer and it came 20 mins later even though we all ordered at the same time! I couldn't believe it... the worst part was when I ate it, this was cooked before for sure and cooked again for me...   Watch out for the octopus! Despite the mixed reviews, we gave the restaurant a try. The view is splendid, the beer very cold and the waiters somewhat attentive. The octopus dish is very tasty but it comes to your table straight from the burning grill with oil reaching boiling temperatures. With no proper advice, we ate it and burned our entire mouth. When we told this to the waiter, she told us that it was evident since food there is served hot. Hell-burning hot... a scalded tongue and palette later, if you do go, avoid dishes that are hazardous. Try the salad or the fish if the day. Stay clear from the octopus. Or don't go so hungry if you should wait for 15 minutes until your food becomes eatable. Would not go back and not recommend it.
