  Just a great restaurant with great service, fantastic ambiance, and excellent food. Advice is to make a reservation if you want to eat during the weekend, it's busy. But even when it's full, the service is still good, and waiting for 30 min for your food is not a problem at all as there is good entertainment. We had the salmon, octopus, and meat in cream sauce, and they were all prefect prepared and tasteful. Absolute a visit during our next stay in Lisbon. We were three persons, one of us ordered dinner and the other two ordered bread, butter and olives along with a bottle of wine. They said all the three should order dinner or leave!!!!!!!   I only had one dish I had fried steak with cream and it was severely overcooked and large chunks of fat. It was hard to chew not to mention cut I think for my total bill of €57.   The restaurant is a bit hidden, but they put many signs to be able to find it. We reserved for the very same day and we could find availability. What was a bit weird was that they brought some cold appetizers (ham, cheese, sausage) covered in transparent foil and bread, without asking anything - right we sat down. Then when we ordered the food they asked us if we wanted to eat the appetizers, but they said it costs money. The waiter was even a bit rude about it, considering nobody does this nowadays, by saying “you pay for you eat”, when we asked if that costed money. That being said, the main course was fish, which was tasty, can’t deny it, but the sides were very average veggies. Overall, not worth the price tag I think. We didn’t have any desert.   We have been coming here for a couple of years, it used to be one of our “must go” places every time we visited Lisbon. We called a few weeks ago to make a reservation for new years eve dinner, we booked flights to Lisbon and were looking forward to welcoming the new year here. We decided to stop by today to confirm everything was ok with our reservation and they told us they did not have our names down. We showed them proof of our call but they insisted they were fully booked and that our names were not on the list. Unfortunately, they did not make any accommodations or efforts to find a place for us, specially considering it was their fault. The food is good but they cannot be trusted with the reservations so if you are celebrating a special occasion triple check everything of find another place.   Top address for getting huge platter of various meat (beef & veal) that are all coming from their own farm. Each meat cooked and grilled how it should be with various level of rareness.   A casual ambience with good service and food. Very busy and vibrant and good mix of young people, families and a few tourists (like us). I had the Seafood Risotto which was excellent. Large serving, lots of real seafood including large un-shelled prawns and crab/lobster legs. These required fingers to shell and eat. I'm happy with that, but it's a pity neither the waiter nor head lady knew what a finger bowl was (ie bowl with water and slice of lemon for washing fingers!). When I explained it she said they couldn't provide because they had no suitable bowls! I suggested an olive bowl, but no, due to "health reasons" - no idea what that meant.   I’m visiting from the USA, respectfully acknowledging that I am a visitor to this amazing country and tried my best to accommodate our server by speaking the few words of Portuguese I knew. She demonstrated a blatant sign of animosity towards me, which I’m not sure if it’s because I was a tourist or any irrational assumption she had of me. She proceeded to correct the positioning of my glassware on the table in a ridiculing manner, she laughed at my wife and I because we wanted to sit next to each other when we were sat at a 4 top, yet we sat across from each other to help influx of guest to make more room incoming consumers. She purposely ignored me because i wasn’t a local and just made my entire dinner experience a living hell. I come from a hospitality background for over 15 years and I’m not one to leave a negative review and I’ve never experienced anything worse than this server. I could write another 5 paragraphs about details of her unprofessional actions and demeanor towards me and my wife but I think it’s clear how we were made felt. Safe to say I’ll never attend this great restaurant as long as this server is working. If you see the server in the picture I uploaded, go somewhere else!   Service was a bit slow, we waited over an hour for food but food was pretty good! There was a birthday dinner happening who were really loud and rowdy which was slightly annoying, but I'm assuming they had a good time.   Food was decent but we got talked into 'sea bass for two' by the waitress. She said it was the best. Price was 'market per kg'. Turned out total price was 56 Euros but if bought individually was only 16 Euros per plate (times 2= 32) so we got ripped off. After we ordered waitress was very curt and dismissive. We wanted the bill split into 4 groups of 2 but waitress didn't listen and just dropped the bill and CC machine and left so we had to use cash. Not a pleasant experience - wouldn't go back.   Terrible experience here. Our hotel recommended it when we asked for a low key, casual dinner on our last night in Lisbon. We order the monk fish, roasted chicken, grilled cod fish, and piri piri tenderloin. The cod fish was old and dry, with potatoes that were so salty they were inedible. The piri piri tenderloin was not a tenderloin, but a dry, over cooked, bland pork chop with a garlic mayo that they tried to pass off as piri piri… we ended up returning both dishes as they were inedible. Monk fish and chicken were okay. Cheque came with all the dishes on it which then turned into an argument with the staff who didn’t want to remove the items that were inedible. Long story short, the items got removed after a drawn out debate. We had so many other amazing meals in Lisbon- I would definitely not recommend this place to anybody.   Great place to try grilled fishes and meat. Very traditional restaurant, opened back in 1935 by Gina. The location is a bit tricky to find but, using the St. Gloria elevator it’s very accesible. You can expect to find a nice atmosphere, with attentive service and different Portuguese dishes, with a winter terrace well conditioned with stoves. We tried the grilled dorada and the grilled codfish. However, the portions were really big for one person, so I would suggest sharing them. The fish was first quality and fresh and very well prepared with baked potatoes, broccoli and a bit of salad. Sadly, we couldn’t manage to eat a dessert, as we were already to full. The server never came to ask about the food. When he brought the bill we told him our chicken was not cooked. He had the manager come but she hardly offered excuses and nothing else….   First lunch in Lisbon. Unfortunately not great. First, they brought to the table cheese, ham and bread and we thought that they were offered since we didn't order them... At the end we had to pay 12 euros for it!!! We ordered 2 dishes... They were massive! Enough for two people each and they were very very fatty swimming in oil. The cod was not nice at all. The business owner is knows people fall for this as technically it is listed on the menu and people do eat it so he can legally justify which makes it worse. The only one that was up for the task was the main waiter - the rest could learn a lot from him.   Out of the way, easy to miss and even easier to dismiss because it is hidden behind some new construction. I think the locals are keeping this to themselves.   My first time in Lisbon and my third night here, it was fantastic! Until last night we decided to asked our concierge to look for a Portuguese restaurant since I never had Portuguese food before. We made the reservation at 8:30. Got there a little late (8:45). Told the receptionist we had a reservation, she walked us to our seat at the very end of the restaurant while there were quite a few available tables elsewhere, we felt isolated from the restaurant. We waited for more than 10 minutes for the menu. Our young waiter was rude. We asked for a sparkling water, he gave us only one water glass, I immediately asked for a second one, I never got them. Their wine menu only offered by the bottle, we end up not drinking any wine and just had the bottle of sparkling water to share. Foods came in a huge cheese board with a lot of chips. I had the roasted chicken and it was great, but the experience is sucked to said the least. Service is bad. I’ll never go back.   Biggest tourist trap! We tried to call to book a table and they said they didn’t accept reservations. We decided to go anyways and the person by the door was extremely rude asking for my reservation name, - meaning they lied to us on the phone, surprisingly the person who asked for my reservations name was the same who had told me 10 minutes before over the phone that they did not take reservations 😂. They tried to give us a table in the back, but after such rude behavior we left. Wouldn’t recommend at all!!! Better go to COZY Restaurant at Amoreiras!!   Worst service ever and a huge tourist trap. We left again before we were able to sit down. Wouldn’t recommend at all. Clarification after response from the restaurant: We called before and were told that reservations are not possible. At the door, the lady was very impolitely asking for the reservation. She even told us, that she was the one who we talked to on the phone before. She ignored our questions regarding the phone call and then tried to give as a table all the way in the back acting like she was doing us a favour. After that we decided to leave before sitting down. While walking out through the restaurant, she ran after us, checking that we don’t sit down somewhere else (we never intended to).   Visited A Gina twice in one week. First time (lunch hour) we got an exceptional service and delicious food on outside patio. This motivated us to go there again for a dinner. The second visit was a total disappointment. We could not get a table outside although half of tables there were vacant. The waiter started complaining loudly that he is the only worker there and there was no no way for him to serve us. Then we took a table inside. The service was extremely slow, and after we placed an order the waiter came back in 10 minutes and said that the dish we ordered is not available any more, so we had to order another dish and wait again.   Honestly pretty disappointed after reading the raving reviews. We went early to set up a reservation and then came back. When we arrived we were only given 3 food menus for 4 of us and no drink menu. Then when we ordered certain things were out already (at 8pm) and when I asked for the steak and shrimp platter for me and husband to share we got an abrupt response of "No". I then asked well why, since the waiter did not say they were out. He said "no good" and then got someone else to talk to us who explained we would need to cook it at the table ourselves. We were perfectly fine with that, so we proceeded with the order. The food arrived and was okay, but nothing fantastic. The shrimp were impossible to peel. We tried varying cook levels just in case. Dessert was a highlight with the Oreo cheesecake. The same waiter who just rudely said no to us we also saw run into a table and knock things over. He eventually fixed it, but he just seemed to not have it together. He continued to be short with us and very unfriendly.   The first two pics were on a Sunday at noon. The third one was on a Saturday in the evening. I ordered the same veal cutlets and both times they were very good. The only difference was that on Sunday for lunch the waiter brought bread and a plate with cheese and charcuterie (it never occurred to me I’d be charged 8€ for it, but I ate everything on that plate and it was good, thus I didn’t mind paying it). Both times I sat on the outdoor space but despite being chilly outside, the restaurant provideed heaters and blankets. The staff, as in most places in Portugal, was friendly and knowledgeable.   It's a little gem! A little bit hard to find the place but ones it has been found it is a great Portuguese restaurant. Good quality for the price and the proportions are huge in my eyes.   No wine by the glass. Soggy potato chips (not fries, chips). Basically adequate salmon. Tough veal - couldn't saw it. Asked to sample sangria before buying a pitcher, but not permitted.   One of my favourites in town. Honest traditional food typical from the north of Portugal, very nice service and good price. Interesting wine selection. Not a trendy spot but a very typical one.   "A Gina" has the heart of homemade food with an unique space and location - it's right in central Lisbon but hidden enough for you to have a relaxed meal without the touristic buzz. It's ideal to try authentic Portuguese food - trust me, I'm Portuguese. We order the Bacalhau à Minhota (fried codfish with potatoes) and it was beyond delicious! Keep in mind that each dose is enough for two people! The prices are around 16€ - 18€ each dose (drinks and entries aside). The staff is very nice and amusing. Will definitely comeback! Two mountainous plates arrived. The potatoes and broccoli were lovely, the fish was scorched on the outside but raw and gelatinous on the inside.
