  First night in Lisbon (from Australia) and found this beautiful little gem. 2 adults, 10 year old and an almost 2 year old (he absolutely loved the €2 vegetable soup. The food was absolutely sensational. Felt like a home cooked meal made with love and warmth! The atmosphere was great and the place was packed. Great service and great food, what more could you want!   As soon as you walk into this tiny restaurant, you just know that it's gonna be good. Two fantastic elderly ladies man the kitchen and boy, do they deliver. We had fish and meat, both grilled to perfect without being over-done. The couvert that you get before (costing about 5€) has amazing olives, bread and some amazing (local I presume) cheese. For dessert, we had the chocolate mousse that had a great consistency, shifting from mouss-y to creamy and even had some chocolate chips in it. This restaurant is a MUST visit while in Lisbon.   I can only say it was SUPERB! From the attention from the owners to the food. I ordered grilled sea bream, and it was the best fish I had in the city. if I could I would repeat it every week. The relation between food quality and price it's more than fair. We also got a kind of cake that I can not remember the name for desert that was not pricey and so good! You can only pay in cash, but if you know it in advance that won't be a problem. If you want to eat quality food, please give a try to O trigueirinho!   Just had dinner here based on the recommendations. They were right. My husband had the mixed grill (all fish) and I had the steak. Everything was cooked perfectly. We got there just as they opened so we got a table. By the time we left, every seat was taken and people were waiting outside for a seat.   Small nice restaurant with a friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices. I recommend the grilled tuna and sword fish, don't recommend the pork steak. And they bring to everybody olives and cheese and bread but it is not complimentary, so it's better to reject that. I highly recommend the house wine - 8 Euro per liter. It is better to book a day before if you want to go for dinner and for lunch it is enough to go a bit after 12'30 when the restaurant opens.   They serve traditional Portuguese dishes which comes in huge servings. Particularly loving their cheese and my choice of fish - tuna steak which comes with loads of onions and boiled potato. It’s my first time eating tuna in this cooking method. Their seafood is the highlight. Because we love the food so much, we booked our next reservation in a couple of days to try our different dishes before we leave.   Highly unrecommended, try O Corvo Bar and Restaurant nearby instead. Much nicer people. I visited this place a while back and needed to WhatsApp a friend who lives in the same building. The miserable guy inside straight out refused, saying the wifi belongs to the restaurant, not the building. Though Portugal has a crisis of customer service etiquette, this one is pretty uncivilized.   This was a hidden gem! A rather small restaurant with perhaps 30 seats. We had no reservation but came in soon after the restaurant had opened and got a table.   Great family run restaurant hidden in one of the side streets of Alfama. The food is fresh and served in large portions. We had some beef with homemade fries and an entire sea bass with some vegetable. It was delicious and affordable and the staff was great. Would recommend.   a picture of this restaurant should be under the definition of confort food. spectacular grills, either fish or meat, good wine and a familiar ambiance. it gets crowded in the usual lunch time,1pm to 2pm, don't expect a fast service, but I never had a wrong order here. overall, if you are looking for traditional Portuguese cuisine, this restaurant is a very good idea !   The atmosphere is good but there is a huge room for improvment when it comes to cleanness. They were cleaning all the glasses with the same towel and it smelled. The waiter was taking the cash and not washing his hands. There were only two waiters and we had to wait 45 minutes just to order the food. In the kitchen it was also far from being clean but I guess it is part of their atmosphere.The food was really average but with big portion. Prices were good but I guess this place is overhyped.   I’m not going to lie the salmon doesn’t look the most appetizing but it was probably one of the best salmons I’ve ever. I will most likely be comparing every salmon I have to this one for the rest of my life.   I SO wanted to like this restaurant - small, charming, great reviews, and in a beautiful setting, but the food was not good. It started with apps that were served wrapped in plastic, not a good sign, and the Iberian ham was dry. The only wine served by the glass was house wine, and it was drinkable, at best. The bachalau (which I LOVE), was neither traditional nor good, nor tasted like cod. Both of us had a few bites and decided to pay and move on. It was the most expensive meal I ate in Lisbon, and the only one I regret.   What a find. We were so lucky to get in without a reservation as 15 minutes later the place was full. Family run - the mum cooks, the son does front of house. The mixed fish course was perfect.   Traditional home style Portuguese cuisine with large portions. We waited around 1 hour (arriving 15 minutes after opening time) and luckily we were seated without a reservation. Had the grilled sole fish (boiled potatoes/carrots/cabbage/broccoli). Grilled, slightly salted. Portion was enough for 2. Boiled veggies could have been better. The duck rice was amazing: pieces of duck with rice that soaked up the juice. The duck was a tad dry and we found a piece of plastic in the dish. Otherwise it was tasty.   Very tasty and fresh fish (we got sea bream (dourada, highly recommend it) and sardines with tomato rice). Cozy place with super friendly staff. We got there around 30 minutes after they opened and got one of the last tables (on a Wednesday night in January), and people kept coming even after it was full.   My girlfriend and I are still buzzing about our experience here! We visited on our first night ever in Lisbon and it was the perfect introduction to simple, local, traditional Portuguese cuisine. The flavour and quality of ingredients was simply top-notch -- even the introductory olives, bread, and cheese had us wanting more. Our simple meal of plump, grilled sardines and cooked-to-perfection sirloin and fries would put a lot of fancier restaurants to absolute shame, and the house Vinho Verde was the perfect accompaniment to wash it all down with. The service was excellent as was the ambiance in the fully packed restaurant so, yes, get there early or have reservations if you don't want to miss out. Could not have been happier at the end of our meal and we were honestly shocked when we got the bill -- probably the best value for money I've ever encountered. Muito obrigado por tudo!   We have the Carvina and pork loin, highly recommended! The carvina fish was cooked to perfection, meat was sweet and succulent every bite. The loin has got a nice soft chew but I’ll recommend anyone to ask for their home made Piri Piri sauce to go alone.   Very good authentic Portuguese cuisine, in a charming place led by very attentive and warm hearted staff. Come early if you want a seat. Can recommend the salmon and try the dish of the house.   A must place to eat in Lisboa with food that you will surely remember. The first thing to know is that they give you bread with cheese and olives and this is optional, if you eat it, it’s 8 euros and I think it’s worth it for its taste. I would recommend to definitely try the soup with the spinach, it was delicious and homemade. For main we tried the mixed fish plate that has different type of fish that are grilled, served with veggies.   This is in a really beautiful square and totally worth a visit. The food in my eyes was just ok, it is basic but the atmosphere is welcoming and they have a great selection of local green wines which I loved.   Terrible service. No accountability. After 1 hour and 15 mins, I was only served soup 30 mins after ordering. I saw my same order - duck rice (the only rice on the menu so it’s very recognisable) - go to two other tables that arrived after I ordered. The staff was clearly friends with one of the tables as they were chatting and laughing the whole time. That person had finished the dish and dessert while I was still there starving. I was still patient and gently reminded them to which they reassured me it’s coming. Another 10 mins later, the food still did not come. Nor was there any offer of even water or bread since I’ve already been there an hour with just one soup. I asked again to see if it’s coming. They said yes and gave an excuse that it’s late because the guy (their friend) changed his order. That was the last straw since they clearly did not want to take responsibility for their mistake and blamed it on something that should not affect my meal.   This is a typical family run restaurant which gives you a local feeling. It can also be crowded so be prepared for waiting some time. We could only sit at our table after waiting around 20 minutes. It took us even more than half an hour to get our orders in the table as well. It seemed like everybody was waiting long times to receive their food which can be pretty challenging for your nerves when you are hungry. We tried two different type of fish and they were both delicious but apparently my fish was not cleaned and grilled that way. So I had to clean all those nasty looking internal organs and that was just disgusting to see it in my plate. Apart from that the price is relatively cheap and I would recommend it if I didn’t wait too long and forced to clean the internals myself. But not for today.   My first time in there was in 2018 and everything was perfect, the food, the service, the whole experience was great. I had the most amazing cod with potatoes and cod and cream. This was my second time at Trigueirinho and I must that I was quiet disappointed with the second time experience. The service Was a bit lazy, the girl on the floor was not very communicative and engaging. However the guy was great, very attentive and friendly. The food let me down, my Arroz de povo was uncooked, my partner’s Tuna over powered with vinegar or lime, I don’t even know what was that. The menu has been reduced significantly, they used to have bacalhau com natas, bacalhau ao Brás….most of all the authentic Portuguese dishes has been removed from the menu. I would still recommend the place for dinner, since I been here twice I have mix feeling about.   Simple, small family style restaurant. The menu has about 10 items (5 dishes with fish, 5 with meat). Really friendly staff which makes you to fill comfortable.   O trigueirinho is now my favourite restaurant in Lisbon. Patricia was my waitress and she was absolutely amazing : very nice , polite , suggested the best dishes in the restaurant.   I have been there this summer , the staff remais quite friendly , but the prices are not so friendly as they were before. The food itself was ok , but nothing exceptional. First experience:I ate so much that I could not take any pictures. This is from now on my favourite restaurant in Lisbon. There is a really friendly waitress there, Patricia.! She asked us to return in an hour as they had no tables when we arrived. It worth every single minute as I just had one of the best meals in my whole life!   I walked by this place on my first night in Lisbon, and am glad I came back for dinner. The night I got there, I was put on a waiting list, so I had a drink at the local fado club. The place was packed in early February, mostly a local crowd. When I returned, I ordered the blackened swordfish, which arrived as two narrow fish grilled and blacked to perfection accompanied with carrots, potatoes, and cabbage boiled in heavily salted water because nothing needed more seasoning. I had a 375 ml bottle of vino verde and the house dessert. The staff were friendly, helpful, and all smiles. I felt welcome, and I am a solo traveler. A classy joint and a great meal, what else could you ask for? I highly recommend this two block neighborhood. I started my morning coffee here, explored Lisbon, had lunch somewhere else, but returned here every night for drinks, dinner, and fado. This was the sweetest place to land in Lisbon. Check out my Google reviews of these neighborhood joints: Cantinho do Aziz, O Trigueirinho, Union Empanadas, Tasqinha Canto do Fado, O Velho Eurico, and Leitaria Moderna.   Such a huge disappointment. Since when I'm living in Lisbon I ve been hearing good things about this place, but my experience was very poor. Even though I had made a, reservation, it took 1 hour before getting our food, when we tried to speak with the personnel they would pretend not to see us, which is something I really hate as strongly impolite (and I've been working as waitress myself). When the food arrived I was again very disappointed, extremely oily and not worth the wait. Also, the menu did not offer a good portuguese choice, but mostly things to satisfy the appetite of foreigners, in my belief. Remember to make reservation in advance.   Place only opens for dinner and people started lining up or waiting at 745pm. They said they don’t open for lunch. Go here for grandma cooking! Was one of the yummiest meals I had in Lisbon! Prices are a steal! Menu isn’t huge and the daily menu is in Portuguese only. Also the waiting time to get your food is long too but I think or believe it’s just one person making the meal.   I would recommend this restaurant to everyone visiting Lisboa. We've been there twice along our stay in the city for 2 main reasons: first the food, excellent home made dishes (we tried several fish dish and all of them delicious); second the price which is very affordable (between 10 and 15 euros per person). I strongly recommend to book a table because the restaurant is very popular among travellers. Service was also really nice and kind, we will surely come back!   O Trigueño is a family-run restaurant that serves traditional and homey food. The seafood dishes are superb and are big enough to share. The fish soup, sardines, and rice with seafood are highly recommended. A word of warning though: they can take long to serve.   Service was so so, as there were tables available when we arrived, but the waitress insisted that we have to sit at a very small table with no place to put our bags. She just indicated to put our bags on the floor, but I think the floor is not that clean. We ordered grilled salmon and sardines. The salmon was perfectly cooked and taste great.   Great local food, and for a decent price! We heard about this place from some Australian tourist and decided to check it out -- we were not disappointed. The fish we had was amazing and the restaurant had a lively feel to it. It's run by a number of older ladies and I have a hunch they know what they are doing. I'm going back when I'm in Lisbon next.   I do not recomend at all!! Lousy service, rotten food, no appeal whatsoever , it smells onions and smoke inside causes náusea . It is really awful !!! And besides few options on the menu.   If you want food by locals with locals in Lisbon this is perfect.. It is more like a living room-cosy and narrow, likely to be missed by just walked by but really worth a shot. we ate grilled pork and cooked cotfish (we've actually had ordered soup but it wasn't ready until after the main dish- I guess it is not enough if the customers are ready if the dish isn't :D) it was perfectly fine after all...really cheap compared to Austrian/ German standard and very well enjoyable! we'll try a restaurant close by tomorrow which looks absolutely fantastic as well PS. pay attention to the two elderly ladies cooking- they are absolutely gorgeous !!!:D (Traduzido pelo Google) Se você quer comida local com moradores locais em Lisboa, isso é perfeito.   If you visit Lisbon, you must come to this restaurant. I guarantee that it will be your favorite restaurant. It is located not far from the main tourist area. They have a basic menu with English translation, but the best dishes are on the menu of the day, which is written by hand in Portuguese only. Even if you understand Portuguese, you won't be able to read this menu. It is part of the charm. No one there speaks a word of English, but you can ask for a recommendation. We both ordered fish, and they were by far the best fish we had in Lisbon. The fish comes with vegetables (greens, potatoes, and one with carrots). In total, we had two fish platters, a basket of bread, olives, and a whole bottle of the house wine for just under €20.
