  Do you want to eat something very tasty? Here at Verde Minho. Although the restaurant is located on a side street somewhere up, not on the main square Rossio, we were lucky as we lived on the same street a few buildings away.   I enjoyed the food and atmosphere overtaken by a server named davil(?). I'm not sure if the name is correct, but at least that's what I heard as non Portuguese speaker. I can speak a little bit of spanish, but it didn't help. This place specializes in grilled food, including fish and meat. I had grilled fish and the fresh fish was flavored with flame as if I eat caught fish directly cooked from bonfire. Had wine and dessert as well, and it was perfectly harmonious.   An amazing place to have a cheap and delicious lunch! We loved all of our meals and as well, 1L of house wine for €4,50. Everything is portuguese and it feels like a home cooked meal by a grandma!   Decent typical Portuguese food, we live in Portugal and only spoke Portuguese with the server but we were obviously not really welcome as estrangeiros. Not a place to go if you aren’t Portuguese, I don’t think you will feel very welcome here. Take advantage of all the amazing restaurants in Lisboa then go outside the city for a decent prato do dia… most small restaurants will welcome you with friendly service, great food and prices around 10 euros. Not worth eating here and feeling bad about not being Portuguese.   We had dinner there 3 nights out of 5 in Lisbon, and the other 2 (in fancier joints) were sorry experiences. This is a very small and unpretentious place that has just super delicious food whether it is grilled fish, frango no charrusco or bitoque. Nothing disappointed and the low prices including wine easily makes this the best deal in town! I wasn't leaving Portugal without having our last dinner there.   One of our favourite places in Lisbon! Local vibe, they don’t speak English but there’s English on the menu so no trouble at all. The portion sizes are big and we could’ve shared a main. And very reasonable prices. They take card as well to make it easier. And the food is not as heavily salted as other places in Lisbon if you prefer that. Nested in an uphill neighborhood, you will sense that this is the right place once you step in as it is no frills and plenty of locals patronizing.   Because I went when it rained cats & dogs and perhaps arrived a bit earlier for lunch, I almost dominates this restaurant luckily! I had a plate of sardines which was awesome, just grilled at kitchen, came with boiled potatoes and salada. They also have meat menu too which I’d love to go back to try. We got the chicken piri piri, salmon, and sardines. They were all very well done and made us fall in love with portuguese food. We even came in the next day for more. Service was a bit difficult as the servers do not speak English but we were able to communicate with them regardless. Additionally, on the first day, they were very kind but the next, they seemed a bit cold, but we still enjoyed our food and highly recommend the place. I strongly recommend getting the dessert. The dourada and cuttlefish was soo fresh! Dourada meat is soft even though it looks overcooked in the photo but trust me it was not. Ask for the rice, it's wonderful. If you're not into seafood or steak then this place is not for you. Price is very reasonable. The dourada was €10 and cuttlefish was €14. I will go back again.   This was our favorite restaurant on our trip to Lisbon - so much so that we came back on our final night! The grilled fish is all excellent and cooked to order. The desserts and house red and green wines were great as well. Service was kind and attentive even while the restaurant was packed.   This place is just amazing. I’ve lived in Portugal for 6 months now and I haven’t seen a better price to quality ratio. The fish is always fresh and is grilled perfectly, crispy and smoky. The place is not big, it's not fancy, it's not elegant. The menu is short and to the point. The star here is their grill, working full time to cook both fish and meat. Grilled to absolute perfection, fresh, tasty, I gnawed on the bones to consume every bite of it! The sardines were just as spectacular. They offer fries, boiled potatoes and salad as side dishes, and there's a handful of desserts. Everything is made on the spot, and you're welcome to walk to the grill to watch as the magic happens.   The place was really small but luckily there was not too many people, so it was fine. The order from my sister was good and tasted very nice. Mine in the other hand, the meat was a bit chewy, so I could barely eat any of it, it came with a side of French fries that was good, and another side of carrot strips, which had some kinda of vinegar that was not much of my taste.   Great food, great service, truly authentic! Came on recommendation from a local and was not disappointed. I was a little nervous going in at first, expecting not so great service after reading reviews below, but was completely surprised with AMAZING service. Was seated immediately despite the place being quite busy, with a smiling face no less. I had my Google translate on standby as we were handed the menu, but again was pleasantly surprised by the menu having an English version, French and Italian! And lastly, the old man came and ordered (again with a smiling face)! I ordered a "Groupa", never heard of it before but was delicious! The potatoes were amazing, and came with a salad too! My partner had the T bone steak, and we shared a dessert and some wine. All was so good and for just under 30 euros! I wish I came here earlier to try all the different fish they have 😀 will definitely be back!! If you're expecting to have personal waiters at your beck and call, maybe go to the touristy restaurants where there are waiters ushering people in. If you're wanting good food at a local mom and pop restaurant, this is your place! Also, it is unfair for anyone to assume locals would just speak English, you are in Portugal after all.   Delicious fish, poor service, authentic feel. The chef / head barbecue grill man has a very special relationship with his grill. It’s really enjoyable to watch him take care of it. For 3 people including enough wine to make you stumble home we paid 30€. I almost choked on another fish bone it was so cheap for such incredible quality food. Bring your best Portuguese accent, an open mind and a big smile and you won’t be disappointed. Don’t come on pretentious tourist mode.   Clean place. But the staff is not friendly. As locals we were served kind of "trying to be nice" but we saw the tourists were served cold.. Like they hate them.   Great little local spot. This was the first meal on our first night in Portugal. Menu is conveniently also in English. Good thing because not much English is spoken in there. We were starving so we ordered some pork (rib tips), chicken, and fish - all grilled up perfectly as well as simply spiced. The 3 dishes were served with some sort of potatoes (either boiled or french fries) and a simply dressed salad. Portuguese olive oil is great so not much needed on a salad besides that & a little vinegar. Great, affordable spot that is definitely always filled with locals. Every time we walked by (a block from our Airbnb flat), it was busy. Also, our meal that consisted of 3 main dishes & a half bottle of wine was about €20.
