  You must go here. If you are two people or more dining together get the tasting block of tapas for around 35EUR. IT IS DIVINE. Service was kind and warm, professional. The tapas is to live for. The wine was super yum. Atmosphere is cozy. My friend and I spent two hours having the best time tasting a wide variety of Tapas. Sumptuous. Octopus melted in the mouth. Blood sausage was smoky and surprising. The ham- the cheese- beans- eggplant- I could go on but I’m so tired after this meal extravaganza.   Visited last week on a trip to Lisbon with 3 friends (including one vegetarian) and it was wonderful. A lovely welcoming place with friendly and helpful staff. We went with tapas and stayed for dessert and it was all delicious! We got lucky just turning up, it is a small place and would recommend booking so you don't miss out. The price was good and well worth it. If you're visiting Lisbon, definitely give this place a try!   We came upon this little gem by chance but so glad we found it. The whole experience was delightful. We shared a tomato and sheep's cheese salad, melt in the mouth beef, stewed in beer with mashed potatoes and vegetables followed by a lemon cheesecake. The staff were very friendly.   It’s definitely a gem in Lisbon. Was recommended by a friend and glad that we did visit the restaurant. The place is relatively small but with excellent services and wonderful atmosphere. My friend and I enjoyed the octopus pasta very much because of its rich flavor and the special fusilli pasta that helps it perfectly absorb the seasoning and the seafood sauce. Starters are also very good. Rather than the chewy texture that we had in Asian, its chicken gizzard has a softer and tender texture, which is different but also nice. I loved how the restaurant serves the utensils with environmental friendly packages; not to mentioned that they look great! Staff are super friendly and humourous.   The restaurant was great, delicious food, and we enjoyed our meal outside with a beautiful view of the St Vincent Museum. I'm adding this review as a warning to other foreigners: we were charged a 5% conversion fee to pay our check in USD even after I requested to pay in euros. We didn't realize this until we got home. Just know you pay 5% for a "convenience" conversion to USD, not really necessary. Not that much money, overall, but it can add up and made us feel used and like our experience and enjoyment weren't really all that important at this establishment. If you go, I suggest you insist on using the credit card machine on your own or using cash.   We came here twice for dinner during our 4 night stay in Lisbon and had an incredible experience each time - terrific food and ambiance. We ordered different dishes each time we went, and every one was better than the last. The petiscos were great - our favorites were the fava beans with egg, garlic shrimp, pork cheek and the cod.   After a terrible travel day this was an unexpected pleasure! The service was wonderful, the atmosphere inviting and the food exceptionally delicious! We had a few appetizers including padron peppers and olives and bread served with tuna and olive oil, for mains we had the pork cheeks in wine sauce, lamb cutlets with creamed corn (amazing!!!), and the grilled shrimp!   We stumbled upon this hidden gem. A guy finishing up his meal said "you should eat here"...and he was right! So right, in fact, that we passed on the advice to 2 other couples. It has an intimate setting with fantastic food and excellent service, accommodating us as well as our 1 yr old! We even got more food to go as it was so delicious! Highly recommend!   Went there for dinner on the strength of reviews. Attended on the night by two different male waiters - one rude and inefficient, the other pleasant and professional. Unfortunately we were met by the rude one first but decided to stay as it had been a long walk there. If you want to taste how food is designed to tease your taste buds in delightful anticipation of what the chef has to offer then you must order the Greek salad to start. Continue your meal with the Bacalhau which is cooked to perfection and if I may, the best Bacalhau of all the restaurants I visited during my 20 day visit. Then save some of those mashed potatoes to enjoy with the braised lamb that has a sauce that will make you appreciate every minute spent to make all those flavors blend into that glorious flavor. And as the Lisboans do, finish the meal with a shot of Ginjinha. Bom apetite!   On our final night out for our 2023 visit to Lisbon, we ran into Bistro Gato Prado. We were planning on having our last supper at our beautiful apartment, however, we peaked in the window and the proprietor greeted us. We were vegan and finding a restaurant is somewhat challenging. He said just take a chance and come in. We did. Jill said that the rating she gave his restaurant was a 12 out of 10 as I t was one of the very best experiences of your head in a restaurant in three weeks. He asked us what kind of wine do you want. We explained what we like we like a dry someone bold flavor. He got us an amazing wine which he had his taste before he poured more. We had the roasted potatoes, which were the best we had in our tire trip. We also had a lentil salad and the eggplant.dish. The presentation was beautiful and the tastes were exquisite. The atmosphere was relaxing and lovely. We are returning to Lisbon as we love it and will be coming back numerous times to Bistro Gato for sure. We will be in Lisbon for a month next summer and for three months next winter and spring. We can hardly wait.   We went there with my girlfriend on a rainy afternoon and we couldn't have been more happy to have found this place. The food was excellent, especially the meatballs and the pork cheeks that were unreal. Desserts needs to be mentionned as well, the chocolate cake and the orange tiramisu tasted amazing ! The red sangria that was served to us tasted great and the service was perfect.   I rarely go back to the same place twice when on holiday, because holidays for me are about trying new places too. But whenever we’re in Lisboa, we’ll go back to this place 3-4 times even if we’re just there for a week. Amazing food, the owner is great and great to talk to. The prawns are our one of our favourite dishes, simple but just right. My husband has coeliac disease so he eats gluten free and is never left hungry. The deserts are fab too. We arrived shortly after opening and were able to get a coveted outdoor seat- the perfect laid back place for a wine and some snacks. We were seated, had enough time for two of us to visit their tiny single toilet, and ask for some Sangria before they told us they screwed up and the table we were at was supposed to have been reserved and we had to get up and sit outside in the cold and rain if we still wanted to eat there.   Couldn’t get a seat here and although that can be typical around Lisbon with small restaurant in high demand the staff was quite rude when we asked if there was a wait or anything. “You cannot eat here unless you reserved, thank you good bye” unfortunately the right words with the wrong tone.   This place is an unassuming gem. The waiters are super friendly and helpful, the setting is relaxed and comfortable and not pretentious at all. The best part is the food. Stewed beef and potato puree with nutmeg, steak with tagliatelle and sage butter, the gnocci, all delicious. Someone in the kitchen is really paying attention.   My family and I moved to Europe 18 months ago and have eaten at a number of restaurants all over western and central Europe. The well decorated and unpretentious Bistrô Gato pardo is one of the best we’ve ever eaten at. We walked past and stopped in on a whim one day and brought the rest of the family the next day for lunch, eating the grilled Golden, sardine penne, the fish soup twice, and several other dishes. All of them were excellent, and three of them for us rank among the very best meals we’ve ever eaten in the US, Canada, or Europe at any price. In particular the sardine penne and fish soup were just spectacular, with perfectly cooked al dente pasta and perfectly balanced, flavourful seasoning. I can’t claim to be any kind of culinary expert but the only place I’ve eaten several consistently superb dishes is a ridiculously expensive celebrity chef place in Brooklyn. Nothing else compares. The next time we come to Lisbon this will be the first and last place we eat. 2022 update: we ate here again and the food was somehow even better. The sardine pasta was incredibly delicious. Bistro Gato Pardo remains one of my favorite restaurants in Europe, easily better than several Michelin restaurants I’ve visited. The service is informal and friendly and the staff are extremely friendly.   It seems to be a genuine place in Afalma. A bit far from anything touristic, but worth visiting. Design is lovely, but it is really a little place so you better reserve a table in advance. The menu is not a massive but food is good, with local dishes. The portions look big but only because of a lot of salad on them. Their drink menu consists of wine, bottled beer, and sangria.
