  What a wonderful place. So chilled, really nice background music, superb food and friendly staff. Service was excellent too. I had french toast with yoghurt, banana and strawberries. It was superb.   This morning my friend and I went for a smoothie and coffee. When we sat down we ordered a drink while looking at the food menu and deciding once the drinks came. They never came back to take our food order. The americano tasted burnt and watered down and they were not willing to redo it or reimburse me for it. The chocolate peanut butter smoothie was more like a juice with ice in it and did not have the collagen or peanut butter in it that was paid for at an extra cost. Nobody who worked there was helpful and did not check in on us once about the food until handing us the bill and refusing to take anything off because we did not complain earlier (we could not get anyone’s attention.) do not recommend, especially considering my friend is gluten free and they could not confirm what was safe for her to eat .   I went 30 mins before their closing time and they said that I can come if I order in 5 mins. I ordered in 5 mins and then the food came after 10-15 mins. I had the english breakfast and it was horrible. The one in O Ninho is so so so much better! I also ordered apple crumble pancake which was okay. Just 5 mins after eating they said that they will close now and I have to pack up the rest of my food. They could not get rid of me any faster. My point is 'why did you take in a customer to dine in if you dont have enough time to provide a good service?' You could have just said that we can only do take away now. I will never go back!!! The staff are nice, the location is very convenient, and you're out of the sun on hot days. Was it the worst meal of my visit to Lisbon? Yes. First the “welcome” wasn’t very warm, the girl was rude and if we didn’t were so hungry I would love to leave for a better place. the food wasn’t great and we had to ask several times for a sauce.   I came in as soon as they opened as read that it can get busy during the day. The menu has English descriptions so you know what you're ordering if you cant speak the language. My toast and smoothie came in less than 5 minutes and were absolutely delicious! The place looks beautiful too :) staff was very nice and understood that I couldn't speak Portuguese.   An excellent choice for coffee and breakfast/bruch in Alfama! Less than a 5 minute walk to the Terreiro do Paço metro station, the food and coffee were so good (and reasonably priced) that we came back two mornings in a row! The 'Tosta Olivia' was delicious! Mimosas with fresh orange juice were also fab. Only downside is I thinkthey are a bit understaffed, staffwere lovely but it was a bit of a wait to be seated/order/receive food. So maybe not ideal if you are in a hurry. But if you enjoy sitting on a sunny outdoor table and people watching this cafe is perfect!! Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. 10/10 would recommend.   Since we had a lovely breakfast in the amilia already, we also wanted to check out the more central located Basilio. Great food as well! The staff was friendly and served the food as delicious as expected. The flavoured iced latte really impressed us.   This place has amazing food and is really, really cute. Its brother/sister restaurants of Nicolau and Amelia are also really cute…. The only thing I have a problem with is that this location has pictures of women’s bodies on the walls. It’s really a tired stereotype- using women’s bodies to sell something (in this case, food).   Very average food to be honest. My “sandwich with avocado, bacon, cheese and eggs” was basically a plain dry pita with 1 tiny slice of bacon, 1 sad slice of melted cheese, some avocado and 1 egg. It definitely sounded better on the menu than it was in reality. I mean, I could do it better at home and definitely less than for 7 euros.   Restaurant which offer breakfasts, brunches and also lunches. I like this concept but problem is that everything takes lots of time. We were waiting around 15 minutes than we could sit (even when tables were available but not clean) and waiting for meals or coffee was long as well. Problem is that the waiting does not worth it because the meals are nothing special. Eggs Benedict was below average, sauce was not my cup of tea and there were not enough of it so whole meal was dry. Pancakes were dry as well and oversweetened. Coffee was ok, staff were so kind, interior is nice, prices are friendly but there is still lots of work to deserve 5 starts.   We had the chicken gyoza, spring roll, Thai red curry chicken, and Thai red curry ramen. All were great. Service was quick. We would come back. Note that the red curry dishes are spicy, especially the chicken and rice version of the dish. The waitress rated it 7/10 spicy, which felt accurate. The red curry ramen was closer to 5 or 6/10. We are from the USA and we enjoy spicy food, so if you can’t tolerate moderate spice in thai dishes in the USA then these dishes are not for you.   Really friendly staff, service was on the slow side but they are signs on tables to say the food is cooked to ordered so the wait times are longer. We did not have an issue with this.   Had the scrambled eggs and bacon on fluffy toast. After quite a long wait (40 mins), I received quite possibly one of the versions of this classic dish I've ever had. The fluffly bread was amazing and tied it all together. The sweetness and chewyness of the bacon complemented the savory of the eggs and the softness of the bread, which resulted in a perfect harmony.   Kind of a tourists trap. We didn't have a good experience as the service has been so random that took about 2hrs to finish our simple brunch. I get that the place was very crowded and only 2 waiters serving the tables but some things are simply not acceptable: My partner ordered the bruch option that includes orange juice, scruble eggs, pancakes and cappuccino apart. Well after 40 mins the waiter came and gave him a small glass of orange juice by itself... After that other 30 min to get a plate with scruble eggs, after that we had to remind the waiter about the pancakes... After 20 mins the pancakes arrived. In the meantime i got my burger, without my drink that i had to remind 2 times to the staff. The drink arrived 20 minutes after i finished my plate. Oh, The cappucino came after we asked the bill.   Nice atmosphere but not a safe place to go during covid times. Social distancing rules were completely ignored and you are sat right on top of other people, even if the place isn't very full, as it happened to us. When we asked to move to another (further away, table, with the same number of seats - so no difference for them), the staff member was really rude. Eventually we moved, but then the staff member immediately proceeded to place a couple right next to us (50cm) when there were at least 2 more tables with 2 seats (at a safe distance) from us...we found that really immature. The food is acceptable. The pancakes do not come with enough sauce, so they become really dry. The juice is too waterly and the toast was cold.   Very instagrammable place with good music, beautifully decorated and great looking food. That said, the waiter mainly looked at the ground and the dishes he's serving, without noticing the guests. In all, service took long and we were not the only ones looking around for our food / drinks, the couple next to us left after 30mins out of sheer annoyance, and without drinks. The burgers looked incredible, however tasted a plain and flat. The grilled chicken was, like us, a bit dehydrated. For drinks, if you're looking for a cocktail with an actual kick, don't have the house special, the margarita however does the trick. The Granola with Greek Yoghurt and Fruits was really good and I would recommend this for everyone getting their breakfast there, but for some other dishes the value you get does not really match the price. Our dish (buckwheat pancakes) was waiting on the kitchen counter for about 10minutes (it had been brought out for another wrong table and simply put back and forgotten). Even though the concept is similar, I loved that each place had its own design and vibe. At Basilio the ambience and decor was very well done, with lots of plants around. Very Instagrammable too - it's meticulously presented!!! It was quite busy, however, and we were waiting for at least 20 minutes for one dish (around 2pm on a Wednesday). Staff were kind enough to not charge us for that plate which was very generous. Not sure if it is always this busy, but there was a wait on food that day and to actually get in due to both volume of customers and a fault with the till service.   The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. I don't know if it's because we are Australian and are used to good brunch..... but the food was really disappointing. The bacon was all cut up and sweetened and the eggs were on brioche bread. The pancakes were all tough like they'd been cooked yesterday and reheated :(.   Took 30 mins to take order, order was taken in correctly, food was slow, cold & bread was stale and frankly of a poor standard. At one point I saw the waitress arguing with a client over what they ordered, she was wrong as even I overheard and remembered the order. However, the coffee was good once the order was corrected. Finally, I noted that we were lucky as we found a spot quickly, others have been waiting at the door for 30+ mins to be seated, for what will be a poor experience. Highly suggest that this place be avoided even though it has the possibility of being a fantastic place.
