  Its my favorite (and my go to) indian restaurant in Lisboa. They serve delicious authentic dosas, a variety of delicious south Indian dishes, a lot of different starters, and my favorite bebinca in town (a goan dessert). I had the opportunity to learn more about how the food is prepared with the chef in their kitchen, to see where the ingredients come from and learned that they grow a lot of their own ingredients, carefully select all of them and everything is freshly cooked and delicious. We had prawns grill for starter, masala peanuts, Mysore Dosa, Kottayum Fish Curry with the Puttu and Portuguese wine. Every item was delicious, especially Mysore Dosa with Sambhar with Chutney.   DOSA I really like Dosa. Whenever it exists on the menu, I go for it because I like it. I would not go again to this place due to the dosa that I received. For what was offered it was quite over priced. It’s true prices are increasing everywhere, especially Lisbon, but charging 9 euros for the Masala Dosa I received I don’t feel congruent. First elevate quality then elevate price. If price goes up quality needs to be there. If the dosa specialist is not in the house, don’t offer the dosa to customers. Or at an extreme discount. The masala dosa was not generous. It was poor. I’ve had this dish in India and numerous countries around the world and this one last night was lowest on my scale. The sweet we had was industrialized and far too sweet. Dragon fruit lassi was good, but way too runny, watery.   Really terrible place. Staff is very slow and very rude. They treat white customers nicely but not other customers. If you give feedback about the food (something we ordered tasted raw) after paying the bill, the first staff member laughs it off and the other is very aggressive about it. We will say that the dosa was fine. Do note: We were asking for nothing, had already paid the bill. We were giving feedback as customers, that’s all. So tired of this sort of behaviour and racism from Indians towards Indians. Would strongly recommend not going, the food and service is really poor.   Great South Indian food. We ordered a masala dosa, mysore masala dosa, samosa, pappadum. Highly recommend all of these. The mysore dosa is not that spicy but still very tasty.   Food is one of the best and authentic restaurants in Lisbon! We came for the Kerala porotta (flaky Indian pancake) but also loved the lamb uthappam (Indian pizza with lamb), meen pollichath (grilled fish with spiced sauce in banana leaf), lemon rice (basmati with lemon, spices and peanuts), and Malabar prawn curry. I closed the meal with a deliciously spiced masala chai (spiced tea). Tinto as always treated us very well, he is the most amazing host!   Food was yummy! Service was top-notch! Delicious food is a given in any good restaurant. But throw in a welcoming server who knows how to make a discerning customer happy is rare. Costa do Malabar has both. We ordered a meat (lamb uthappam), a fish ( meen pollichath), a seafood (prawn curry), a bread (Kerala Porotta) and rice (lemon rice). For dessert we were served Gulab Jarmon on the house. For drinks we had beer and masala chai. The dishes were yummy. I particularly like the lemon rice and the meen pollichath in banana leaf which was done to perfection. There were also a multitude of chutneys and sambar - tangy, sweet, savory and spicy. The green chilli paste to cater to our spicy taste buds was my utmost favourite. Tinto, our server, regaled us with stories of the dishes and we were suitably impressed. His smiling and helpful disposition made our evening extra special. We had a whale of a time indeed.   Nice authentic South Indian food. It was my 3rd visit to this restaurant. I have tried their masala dosa, idli, rasam, vada, uttapam in my 3 visits. And I must say all these dishes are authentic South Indian style. The salt may be little less in sambhar or masala but u can always ask for table salt and it’s better that way. I have tried their lemonade and peanut chaat masala and both of it were again super delicious. My husband tried chicken tikka masala and chapatis and he was equally satisfied. Good thing is the chapati was of wheat flour and not white flour (maida). Loved it. I really enjoyed having these Indian delicacies on my trip to Lisbon. Would recommend to anyone.   Today I had terrible experience in this restaurant. The food was not up to the mark. Masala Dosa had foul smell and the Chicken 65 was hard dry and chewy..One of the staffs was extremely rude when I tried to talk to him regarding the food . He definitely needs to learn manners before handling customers. Neither would I visit again nor would I recommend. We had to cancel the parathas because of your incompetent staff who failed to suggest us that the chicken 65 is fried and without any gravy , even though while ordering my husband mentioned him that we want to eat the parathas with the chicken 65 since we thought it’s tossed in some gravy (like dry chilli chicken) . And if you have really checked the videos and still couldn’t find any rudeness or fault of your staff then I must say you are as pathetic as him. Try to take the negative comments in a positive way and work on improving your faults. That will help you in the long run. We have been to so many restaurants in Lisbon and the surroundings and have had amazing experiences but yours . It was horrible and I will stick to what I said. I’m from New York City and have access to some of the best food in the world, but this was hands down the best Indian food I’ve EVER had.   I have not had a lot of experience with South Indian cuisine, so I am happy that I found this place, most of their menu I have never experienced before so I will come back here many times to try everything! I had dosa for the first time and it was great, no idea how it gets the smooth crunchy texture, but I love it. The filling was extra spicy on my request, it was mild by my standards but I suppose Portuguese spice tolerance levels are a bit lower. :) Staff was really friendly and ready to offer advice and suggestions (except they showed me how to eat dosa with knife and fork, but it's much easier if you eat it with your hands :)).   Food was fine. Would recommend the buttermilk. However Kerala Stew was a slight disappointment.They mentioned that they have adapted dish to local pallete. But doesn't mean that the stew lacks major flavour (salt & chilly are not the only components ryt??). They did offer us to change the stew, but was not that bad, and plus there were no other options, so didn't see a point returning and I also detest wasting food. She had a chance to give her tasbuds the Indian feel after 25 years.. We ordered Chichen Biriyani, Paratha, Chicken Madrasi Curry and Chicken Curry. They were excellent as usual. I have been to this place before so i was sure what to oder. The spicy level was as perfect as explained. My sister loved the food. I have asked them to do a deliver as it was almost late at night and they made the delivery a cake walk. The packing was excellent and we also kept the food for the next day. The Paratha and Chicken was good to eat the for the next day too without getting the rubbery hard to eat feel. They do take up delivery if you are in and around Alameda.   Real Indian cuisine is rarely available in Lisbon. So often you get oily greasy stuff with lots of chilli and not much taste. Costa do Malabar is a shining exception. The delicate South Indian spices and light textures of the dishes transported us back to our unforgettable holiday in Kerala. They even serve proper Masala Chai (Indian spicy tea). This was our first visit and the menu is huge. We are going to go back again and again until we have tried all of it! My husband and I visited in November 2021 on a trip to Portugal and ordered dosas, Kerala Porottas and varutharacha curry to satisfy our cravings for food from back home (Kerala).   One of my favourite local restaurants in Lisbon, I’ve been here more times than I can remember and it never fails to wow :) The fish curries are a taste sensation, packed with so many different layers of flavour, and the restaurant staff are incredibly friendly. Get the coconut rice and the Kerala porotta!! The staff was very accommodating to our large group and gave us all the tips around the best dishes. Every dish that we ordered, from starters to deserts were absolutely delicious.   We ordered the samosas, onion bhaji, prawn dosa and the malabar king prawn curry. The onion bhaji were the best we had, really full of flavor! The samosas were surprisingly big for wha we're used to. They were tasty though a bit more spicy and onion would help. Both the dosa and the curry have were absolutely delicious. I particularly liked the curry. It was thicker than what I was used to but it was awesome. Portions were generous too and for the jeera rice as well. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise as the flavors are different from the typical Indian food you're probably used to. Will definitely return! We changed the samber 3 times but they were serving the same. The person who serves everyday, he is used to handle the reception areas and waitress duties as well, was so rude.   What an excellent meal! We had a great lunch at Costa do Malabar. The service was attentive and the food was incredible. The restaurant serves cuisine from southern India. It is spicy and full flavored. There are some vegetarian options but we stuck with mostly chicken dishes. We started with Magalorean fried chicken and Chicken 65. Both were really tasty and the portions were good for the price. The Tikka Masala and Chilling Chicken were also very good. I can’t wait to come back and try a a biriyani.   Great experience. We had traveled from Sweden to Lisbon during this summer and came to know about this authentic Kerala restaurant from google. Me and my wife was so excited to visit this restaurant. Since we are from Malabar, we definitely wanted to try this restaurant. Food was so good, I appreciate each and everyone (especially Tinto and Kuttan) in the restaurant to host us with the delicious food.   The owner and waiters were really friendly with me, and very patiently guided me through the menu, because I had never been to an Indian restaurant before. The chicken I had was very tasty and not so spicy, just as I requested. The place was clean and cosy. Can't recommend it enough!   If you are looking to try authentic indian cuisine other than the regular butter chicken and stuff this is definitely the place for you. The ambience and the service is good. It's difficult to find many of the dishes available here anywhere else in Lisbon. I would definitely go there again though. Do give the semiya payasam a try if you are looking for an Indian dessert.   This is one of the best Indian places I've been. The food is great and tasty and the portions are really good. The menu is not the typical one of an Indian restaurant which, in this case, is great because you have new stuff to try. The staff was nice and friendly.
