  Fantastic food, service and great ambiance. It was a delightful meal that really capped off our trip to Lisbon. The octopus is a solid choice you just can’t go wrong choosing. Steak was cooked to perfection with chimichurri on the side that was a great compliment. The grilled sea bream and bass were also absolutely perfect.   Food was amazing. I think Octopus was the best I’ve ever had in my life. I think it’s a great place for a quality culinary experience however two waitreses were looking extremely demotivated, tired, all the time pulling a long face and absolutely no warm communication with the guests. We did our best but their attitude did not change. Only the Pakistani male waitress was warm and made guests feel welcome. I don’t give lower rating since food was extremely good and I don’t want to be unfair to the chefs but I think these people should improve their attitude because eating out is not food only, it’s the overall experience.   I have been there multiple times, always recommending this restaurant to my overseas friends to have dinner there based on the good food and service. This time I must say we were let down by the service. Rang the door bell and were received by a very grouchy guy (and we were early so only 3 tables were occupied). He didn’t seem interested at all and my overseas friends even commented he seemed to be in a bad dreamland. The lady server was also not responsive and impatient. I would have given only 2 stars for service but wanted to commend the friendlier Pakistani server. It is still a nice restaurant in Lisbon which I will recommend based on food but the service needs to be stepped up.   Gorgeous little restaurant! We were served by Wiki who was so helpful and attentive without being overbearing. He gave us a great wine suggestion too.   Absolutely fantastic restaurant in Lisbon! We ordered the octopus salad and the octopus croquettes for our starters. The octopus croquettes were very crispy and flavourful with a silky filling that nicely contrasts the tender octopus. The octopus salad was sapid, vibrant, piquant and refreshing – definitely one of the best salads I’ve had in a while. I think their chefs are very skilful in terms of bringing out the best out of the ingredients they used, especially the seafood. Our prawn risotto and codfish à Lagareiro were fantastic examples of delicious, umami-rich seafood mains with lovely textures and aromas. They had an electronic call button on each table, which more restaurants should have, in my personal opinion. The menu was available in both physical form and scannable via QR code, a nice choice to have. Wiki was a brilliant waiter - Michelin-standard, in my personal view (he reminded us of a super professional waitress in Vancouver’s The Botanist, which is now in the Michelin guide). Wiki was super attentive, efficient and really made sure we were having a fantastic time at Frado dos Mares. Wiki was one of the best waiters we’ve ever interacted with. The atmosphere, décor, impeccable service plus the sublime food propelled Frado dos Mares to my top 5 favourite restaurants of all time. A real gem in Lisbon!   The place is small and very beautiful. The service was amazing. Claudette took care of us amazingly. Thank you very much.   Dinner on a Thursday evening, a relatively small place, fully booked. Good that we had a reservation. However, we still had to wait 20 minutes for our table to be available (bad reservation management?). The food was really good, with a more modern interpretation of traditional dishes. I had grilled octopus and my husband the grilled cod. And we tried so really good desserts as well. Only tourists visiting, thus a little bit strange. Wiki, our waiter, was really attentive.   Lovely little gem with amazing food and reasonable prices! We ordered the prawns for starter with some bread and they were fresh and full of flavour. Followed by prawn risotto and tuna steak which were equally tasty. Had a bottle of dry white wine and finished with 2 cortados. Total bill came to €90 which is very reasonable.   One of the few places in Lisbon I’m taking time to write out a review for. The salt baked bream was magnificent, and the service was the absolute best we had on this trip.   Probably the best dining experience we enjoyed in Lisbon. The food was delicious - from the octopus starter to the quite frankly amazingly tasty prawn risotto; I never realised a prawn risotto could be so tasty; packed with 101% sweet prawn flavour. Magnificent. Wiki was our waiter, who is friendly and attentive in equal measure. He really added a spark to the evening and really stood out in terms of performance. That's often a difficult balance to strike, as some waiters are over-attentive. Wiki was just delightful from start to end. I even appreciated the Irish phrases he managed to learn! The restaurant is small, and covers around 40 people it seems. Reservations are highly recommended as it can get booked out very quickly, as it did on the evening we attended.   I made the same day reservation for dinner at this small restaurant. Ordered the Sea Bream fillet and the Fish of the day (Sea bass). Both were good and tasty. There are only a few people dining there and the staff aren't really friendly and the service can be improved.   Before we left Canada, we checked for a good restaurant to eat at on the day we would arrive. Something to satisfy an appetite and give comfort to relax after 48 hours. Well, Frade dos Mare fit the bill. When we first arrived we were four minutes late but had walked for over an hour, we were lost but eventually found the restaurant. Guy checked our reservation and made us feel at home, he let us sit at a choice of four tables at around 6:30pm. Our server was a young lady named Macala, she was fantastic, in fact the whole server team was excellent, they all worked together and to make your experience welcome. We ordered a shrimp starter( the same name)and it was so flavourful that we used bread for the sauce. My wife had the fresh Curry fish/shrimp dish and myself had the octopus. Both dishes were wonderfully prepared and needed no help to empty off the dishes. My wife wiped her plate clean with some leftover bread. My wife had the dessert pudding with lemon ice cream and let’s just say after that my wife was done, the meal had done its work. Comfortable and full, she was ready for bed after a long two days of airport travel and delays. Please make a reservation as many people were turned away as the establishment is well noted. We spent two and a half hours enjoying a well paced and delicious meal. Thank you “Frade dos Mare” for a lovingly fulfilling meal experience from Canada.   This is one of our two favorite restaurants in Lisbon. The salt baked sea bass was the best I’ve had. Perfectly cooked, moist, and full of flavor. It was paired by a well recommended white wine. The service was wonderful and dessert is a must. We had the cheesecake, which was soft, crust on top, with fresh fruit.   Despite being understandably busy, the staff was great and attentive and awesome. I really want to give them a five but having to ask for the check twice and waiting over 30 minutes for it was a little frustrating(this was just our experience). The food on the other hand was conflicting. All the reviews I saw rated the octopus high but it was nowhere near as good as people made it out to be, rather it was not very good especially compared to the octopus I had in restaurants in Portugal. The octopus was at least fresh though. The seabass however, was phenomenal and the vegetables were great too. The shrimp appetizer and octopus croquette were average. I’d say visit this restaurant but I can’t agree with 4.7 stars here(at the time of this review)😆 sorry. The portions are so big that Wiki, our waiter even advised us against taking the soup beforehand and this was a good call since otherwise there would have been no space left for the awesome lemon cake.   Amazing from start to finish. We had to press a doorbell to be let in (which is a great idea!!) And we're met by very friendly staff. Show straight to our table and given menus and asked how we were. Given plenty of time to go through the menu and then ordered with the waiter who introduced himself by name. We then had our main meals (octopus and risotto - see pictures) which were delicious. Then we had our desserts (again see pictures - pastry (I forget the exact name) and a chocolate mousse). Food was delicious throughout! Honestly the best meal we've had in a long time. We spent over 3 hours at our table! We also tried Ginja with our desserts (free of charge) which was delicious - ginger and cherry liqueur. Our drinks were house white and house red - both also delicious and surprisingly the house wines! We loved every minute of our evening, we only wish we'd gone sooner!!   This place had friendly wait staff, really fresh seafood and an amazing. We got the fish of the day (sea bream with potatoes and sauteed vegetables), prawn risotto and octopus rice. The prawn and octopus were really fresh and sweet and the flavour in the risotto was amazing. The sea bream was also cooked and seasoned really well. We also had some local Lisbon chardonnay with our meal. This meal was a little pricey but it's worth it overall.   We ordered the Octopus (what they are famous for) and the shrimp risotto. It was DELICIOUS. Best Octopus I have ever had in my life. The waitress was friendly. Our booking was at 6:30, and the restaurant opens at 6:30. We arrived at 6:10 and did not know that the restaurant opens at 6:30, so we knocked on the door. I believe that the restaurant manager/hostess opened with an upset face and not very welcoming tone that we needed to wait until 6:30 (which is totally fine with us, but we did not appreciate the attitude).   We tried this restaurant for diner. One of the best in Lisbon. The decoration is very pretty as well as the personal who was very friendly and very welcoming. The food is so delicious. We tried the octopus salad, one of the best. We had the octopus dish, very tender very easy to eat with a lot of flavor. The seabass fish was also greatly cooked with side-vegetables. For desert, we had the cheesecake with bread crumbs and berries. The service was great and one of the two cheesecakes was on the house as they took a bit of time to be served.   What an incredible experience. In summary, the food was EXCELLENT, the service was incredible, and the feeling of the restaurant was perfect. For the food, I had the octopus for my main and the puff pastry with raspberry ice cream for dessert. The octopus was just absolutely delicious. The flavors came together beautifully. Mica was my waitress and she was just the sweetest! She recommended an excellent wine to go with the octopus and regularly checked on me to be sure I was happy without being overbearing. It's a small restaurant that feels very intimate, which I love. Everyone here was so nice. They even gave me a small chocolate with some portuguese liquor inside as I finished up my coffee. And I come from Greece that says it all. The octopus salad and tuna tartare were very tasty as well. It went extremely well with the Maçanita Douro white wine.   This is probably the best seafood meal we had here in Lisbon after dining in several different restaurants! The quality and freshness of the ingredients with the chef’s cooking really tick all the boxes. We’d highly recommend the prawns and clam starters alongside the octopus “a Lagareiro” - LOVE them! We also had the fish soup (hearty) and the fish of the day which were so fresh and delicious as well. The service in particular is top tier! Hicarla were very attentive and lovely while serving both of us. We particularly applaud the restaurant as they separate our dishes into 2 separate plates without asking them to, as we are sharing all of the dishes. The ambience of the restaurant were perfect, the noise level were just nice and we could talk without having to raise our voice.   Great food experience in Lisbon! It was out final night and we dined at this lovely place. The food is great! We had the garlic prawns and tuna ceviche as a starter then tuna steak with wasabi purée and prawns risotto as a second. The food was amazing as others here mentioned too. I’ve read all the recent reviews before reserving. Serving was also very good. The place is for people who want to have a good family time, it’s not an average bodega. Kudos to the Moldavian Chef! We appreciated the visinata at the end (liquor) which brought us good memories. I would recommend changing the music to something more relaxing to go with the family feeling of the restaurant.   Delicious dinning experience. Perfect in every way. Our waiter was gui who knew the menu inside out and the wine menus. His recommended wine complemented the food perfectly. We had tuna ceviche and garlic prawns for starter and tuna loin and octopus as a main. The servings were generous and every bite mouth watering. Highly recommended. Only comment is if you sell crab paste and garlic butter you really should include the bread. It's a bit strange ordering butter to the table and have nothing to put it on. Many of the dishes we found on the menu and also the service was so compatible with any global situation that I couldn't identify a reason why to come here when in Lisbon. Also the efforts they make to create an upmarket impression seem to be more related to the high prices than to their passion for gastronomy.   Came for dinner after seeing the great feedbacks given online and we were highly pleased on the outcome. Food tasted delicious and wine as well was perfectly paired with our food choices. The octopus was simply sublime and special highlight of the evening was the tuna tataki with wasabi and pea purée, divine ! Great place to come for a romantic dinner or group of friend. Only a small hiccup with service as the order was forgotten and therefore water never arrived , special amendments due to coriander dislike never occurred and olive oil never arrived at the tables either.   Must admit it is a nice and cosy restaurant, albeit a tad bit formal, so I felt uncomfortable with my jeans. The 2 hour time slot for dinner felt rushed, especially when we wanted to go the 5 course meal way. The polvo croquettes were cold, and the tuna ceviche had more mangoes than tuna.   Last minute drop in and they were able to accommodate, which was saying a lot considering 10 minutes in to our meal, the place was full. Enjoyed some wine that was recommended by the staff, and it paired perfectly with our food.   I made a reservations here based on reviews from Trip Advisor. The nearest metro station is about 15 minutes away, but I enjoyed my walk to and from the restaurant. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. I was seated indoors. There’s fewer than 20 tables inside, and the place was full by 9pm. The menu is available via a QR code, but don’t worry, they have free Wi-Fi. I ordered the octopus salad, a fish entree, and two desserts. I’ve only had octopus twice in my life before dining here and this was by far the best. The octopus salad was delicious! My main course was amazing as well. The fish was well cooked and deliciously seasoned. Even the sweet potatoes and veggies that accompanied it were incredible. I completely cleaned my plate. Of the two desserts that I ordered, the chocolate one with ice cream was my favorite. The service was great. It was a busy night and they were short-staffed, but I never felt that the service was inattentive. This place is a gem! I dined at a couple of Michelin star restaurants while in Lisbon, but this was the best meal that I had on my trip. Meu prato principal também foi incrível. O peixe estava bem cozido e deliciosamente temperado. Até as batatas-doces e os vegetais que o acompanhavam eram incríveis. Limpei completamente meu prato. Das duas sobremesas que pedi, a de chocolate com gelado foi a minha preferida. O serviço foi ótimo.   We had a fantastic dinner. Cathy was our host. She exolained everything what was on the menu. Also why she brought 2 bottles of wine. One cold one at room temperature. We love the room temperature but Portugees people love the cooler wine. We had shrimps and gazpacho as starters. And sirloin steak and tuna ceviche as main course. The wine was the américano red.   Limited menu options with too many Octopus plates, which if you don’t eat, then you are limited by quite a lot. I would have expected to see maybe a fresh sardines dish or scallops to have a richer variety in the menu. Straight from the start, service was extremely slow, especially in providing menus and in taking orders. I was surprised that they had new and inexperienced staff taking orders as he did not know the menu nor the wine options offered. The soups we ordered were delicious (vegetable and fish soup), and so was the fish and prawn curry. Overall, I would not have chosen to go to this restaurant if it’s out of your way. The service does not represent well the quality of the food made in the kitchen which was really good. It seems like they take health and safety quite seriously, as they have electronic menu (rather than paper based menus), and a call button system so staff isn't unnecessarily milling about.   Easily one of my favorite meals in Lisbon! Highly recommend making a reservation before you go, the place is pretty small and gets packed. My girlfriend and I made a trip here for a date night. Service was great from start to finish, they even offered to split our appetizers for us to share.   Very good food and excellent service. We ordered mussel gratin and goat cheese for starters. Then octopus a Lagareiro and cod fish with corn bread. They split them for us so we can share and they plated the food really nicely. And we ordered the small selection of dessert which works really well because we get to try different flavors.   Frade dos Mares is my favorite restaurant in Lisboa which I must go when visiting this city. Every cuisine on appetizer menu are excellent, you will definitely not make wrong decision. The shrimp, the mussels grilled in a unique way, the fish soup are the best choices. For main course, we have tried the risotto, the cod and the octopus. Octopus is the signatual one in Frade, but we perfer the rest two, next time I want to try the seafood pot Cataplana as it looks so attractive!!!! And please save some space for the dessert!! For the first time, the dessert collection is the best choice. The mousse they create is very very special. It tastes soft, fine and smooth, like a bite of ice-cream in normal temperature. When we back for the second time, I asked the boss if she can give us a half portion collection, she unexpectedly agreed and asked me to pick some of my perferrance from the big collection..haha.. Fare price, amazing food, excellent service! But you need to make a reservation before going. Highly recommend!!! Os camarões, os mexilhões grelhados de forma única, a sopa de peixe são as melhores escolhas. De prato principal experimentámos o risoto, o bacalhau e o polvo. O polvo é o sinal no Frade, mas preferimos os restantes dois, da próxima vez quero experimentar a Cataplana de marisco porque tem um aspecto tão atractivo!!!! E por favor guarde algum espaço para a sobremesa!! Pela primeira vez, a coleção de sobremesas é a melhor escolha. A mousse que eles criam é muito especial. Tem um sabor macio, fino e suave, como uma mordida de sorvete em temperatura normal. Quando voltamos pela segunda vez, perguntei à chefe se ela poderia nos dar uma coleção de meia porção, ela concordou inesperadamente e me pediu para escolher um pouco da minha perferrância da grande coleção..haha.. Preço da tarifa, comida incrível, serviço excelente! Mas é preciso fazer reserva antes de ir. Altamente recomendado!!!

  Incredible! Everything was perfectly cooked and the service was really good. The appetizer’s dough was filled with high quality goat cheese and served with a delicious red berries jam. The garlic-and-oil shrimps was super super tasty. Finally, the octopus was incredible. A classical from Portuguese cuisine cooked to perfection.   Wonderful seafood place with classy yet cozy ambience. Shrimp Frade dos Mares is a must try for starter. I ordered the Octopus Lagareiro style (roasted with potatoes, onion, garlic and dressed in extra virgin olive oil) and codfish of same style.   Really good restaurant. We ordered seafood cataplana, so delicious. Even vegetable, sweet potato and peppers, in the soup were so delicious. We also had mussel and cod fish.
