It seemed as though all the tourists were seated in the first section of restaurant which was visually the most beautiful but the back section is also very interesting.   On vacation with my son. We enjoyed an excellent dinner with wonderful cocktails and really great food. The atmosphere was amazing! A beautiful monastery with so many added mosaics and gorgeous lighting. Enes our waiter was especially helpful deciding on cocktails and what to eat as well what wine to have along with the delicious meal. Exceptional place for a perfect night in Lisbon!   Not sure if we caught them on a bad night but it was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. 40mins for a cold seafood platter to arrive and the prawns were generously sprinkled with sea salt?! The prawns were already salty which with the added salt made them almost inedible. We had to wipe with a paper towel prior to peeling them then douse them with lemon to consume. Service was next to none. Had to wave them down for absolutely everything and even then it was a scene from “Fawlty tower”. After paying the bill saw an added service gratuity which they’d never mentioned. Not a problem as we won’t be returning.   Loud, 85 decibels or higher all evening from just the talking of diners. Food was good, yet not outstanding. Was there as part of a large group of 70 and we took up less than 30% of three seats. Food arrived well, with significant variation in how cooked the meat was, ranged from rare to well done with random allocation. Great beer as commented to me by the beer drinkers. Smokers were not far away and with open doors the smell was faint, yet there. I would not go again due to the noise that made conversation very difficult.   The food here is great. But the service can really be improved. My wife and I wanted to get some quick night snacks after walking up the hills of Lisbon. But it took forever for the food and drinks to come, even something as simple as an orange juice took 30 min. And we asked several times "where is our food?" but there were really no responses. But once the food came they're good. It's the first time we had gooseneck barnacles, and we had to learn how to eat it properly. The atmosphere is quite decent with classy and well decorated interior. It's a pity, of they have better and faster service, they could've gotten a 5 star from me.   My wife and I were here for dinner and we were very happy with everything. Even though they couldn’t find our reservation they managed to sit us very nicely in the main room . And this on a super busy Saturday night. Food was super and the hole experience very very pleasant. Our waiter Lima was super nice as well.   Ordered a platter of seafood which turned out to be a huge flop. The barnacles were not included and we were told after asking they have sold out and they have replaced those by boiled shrimps (which cost way less than barnacles and there was no adjustment to price). The shrimps were really low quality (probably from supermarket) and the crab pasta had so much mayo it couldn’t be eaten. If you want good seafood don’t go there.   Amazing experiece. Hostess was polite, professional and went over and beyond to make sure that we had a good time. Delicious cocktails. We had mixed seafood platter "Lisboa" with a tonne of prawns and a huge crab. Everything was very tasty. I loved the ambience inside - it was spacious but lively with lots of interesting tiles on the walls. We ate in a cute outfoor courtyard with lots of greenery. Eventually they admitted that our table was charged items from another table and we were given back the $150. Staff was rude and we don’t like being taken advantage of as tourists.   Great restaurant close to Bairro Alto, with a fascinating history. The location was really breathtaking, staff was friendly and attentive. We had some fish meals and it was fresh and good quality, also the meat croquetas were quite good. Absolutely would recommend the beer-flavoured ice cream to end the meal. Would definetely go back.   I took some friends out to give them a genuine Lisbon experience and a great time. It was disappointing and embarrassing. It's not what it used to be. It has become overpriced, and the quality has dropped in some aspects. We requested a Cheese Trinity, and they were out of one particular item. They were unable to replace the item with another type of cheese. There's only 3 items on that entrée. You think they would stock it. The other huge disappointment was the prosciutto tray. It seemed like scraps and inferior quality. I get way better quality and quantity at my local grocery store. What a disappointing occasion. I was embarrassed. The only good thing about it was the wine we chose, and the waiter knew how to pour. Our waiter was great however the other waitstaff who brought our dish out delivered to the neighbouring table and when he brought it over, some sauce spilled out.   Unfortunately our experience here was the worst of our holiday which is a shame as the restaurant itself is quite nice to look at. However that is really the only thing that redeems this restaurant. We were sat down and when the waitress finally came to take our order she spent the entire time looking around bored and flicking her corkscrew. When I asked her what she recommended between two glasses of red wine she didn’t listen and then once I repeated she said “I don’t know one is from this region, one from the other.” She then served the wine in a chipped and dirty wine glass that we had to ask her to replace - much to her visible annoyance. As we waited for our food we noticed just how many of the waiters were walking around with food trying to find the right table to put it down on, often asking the patrons if it was there’s. This happened to our food which the waiter tried to give to the table next to us who had just sat down. Once the food arrived it was already cold, lukewarm at best. My husbands steak wasn’t too bad in flavour but my dish of croquettes and rice was so bland. Then after the terrible service and food the bill had a suggested tip that the terrible waitress put into the machine automatically. This restaurant is a tourist trap and don’t let the nice interior fool you.   I was pretty angry when I waited 50 mins for my fish soup and 30 mins for fresh squeezed orange juice at first but after I tried the fish soup, it's like-- there's nothing more delicious fish soup than this soup. & words can't describe our feelings for it. It's fresh & so tasty. But I wonder do I want to wait again for this soup for 1 hour🤔. The service is actually not so attentive, but because the fish soup is too good, so I still tip the server 10% and finally I see a beautiful smile from the server.   Really disappointing to be honest. Saved this restaurant for our last night in Lisbon and was so excited to sit in the refractory and enjoy some seafood, however, this was not the case. We were placed out side in the rain, where no one else was. There were around 50 free tables inside and when I asked the waitor about the tables inside he told me it was not possible for us to move inside according to the manager. I will give credit to the manager as after I called him over and had a ten minute back and forth conversation he finally “found” us a table inside. The prawns were tasty, however our main (steak and chips) came early and therefore was reheated for us at the time of our main. I will credit the manger for moving us inside, but saying that I looked outside during our meal and no else was where we were first place. Can’t say this place is really worth it.   One of the best restaurants we dined at, while in Lisbon. We had Polvo assado/octopus for the main dish and it was the best octopus I have ever eaten in my life. I would suggest not to order any starters as this was their signature dish and it was cooked to perfection. Starters could have been tastier,and they could have employed staff with a basic understanding of English, and that is the reason why I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars. Our wine was served to the table next to us, our main course was brought to our table when the plates of our starter still need to be removed from the table.   The place has been totally modernised since we were last here some years ago. The place looks lovely, the service and servers have been modernised, as in they are all young, spry and good looking, the food is presented very well and is tasty, the prices have shot up. Overall, it is still a great place to go and eat, but something is lacking and I think it is this, there are zero locals dining there and none of the servers are local either. Conclusion, great place, much more expensive, but you could be eating anywhere in thw world and not know you are actually in Portugal.   This is a fabulous building and well worth a visit, it echo's a bit but that's bearable. Food definitely isn't fine dining, Steak was very average and the large pawn rubbery! Got the feeling it was pre-cooked and reheated! If going out for an eating experience, then this isn't the place. If for a light supper with nice surroundings, then go for it.   Had an amazing dinner here while in Lisbon. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with so much history. We had the fish stew and octopus between four people as our mains and they were both fantastic.   A couple of months before our event, we got in touch with the administrative team of Trindade and spoke with Maria Teresa who allowed us to host an event of more than 130 people in Trindade. They were kind, flexible and most importantly fair during this whole process and at the event, both the service from the staff and food were absolutely perfect.   Very nice location but disappointed by the food. The croquettes were soggy and not did not have a nice crust. The cheese platter was good and so were the oysters. As our main we had the codfish a bras. Would not recommend. Was like a fancy canned fish salad with fries slapped on top. The fish steak of the day was cooked nicely.   What a lovely place! 🤩 The personnel is super professional and still friendly. We are well and this restaurant has 3 different areas. Each one with its own decoration. We just reserved a table without thinking or choosing where to sit. We went early and because of that we built some rapport with personnel that otherwise would have been difficult.   This place is a 5 star place but I gave it a 4 stars. Too bad I cannot give it 4.6-4.7. Read on. Atmosphere and decor: excellent, has a very nice indoor and outdoor seating. Service: almost impeccable, we had a reservation but weren’t asked for it as there were plenty of tables. Order was taken fast and served fast too. They helped with some recommendation and also helped to not order some dish that we wouldn’t have liked. My ONLY comment on the service is that we weren’t very hungry and weren’t sure if we wanted a starter. The person taking our order asked twice “so no starter??”, it felt slightly pushy that at that moment I felt bad for not buying a starter. We got the mussels and there were excellent. For main we got the Cataplana (it’s for sharing therefore not cheap), it’s my first time trying this in Portugal and it’s basically like a Bouillabaisse.   I rarely give reviews but this is a must: we asked for seafood but after 1.5 hours of waiting the bring us fish. Then they say sorry so they bring the seafood after another 1 hour of waiting. The seafood came with no fish inside although in the menu it states that its seafood plus fish. The dish was so huge and it contained 2 kg of vegetables and 2 kg of potatoes. You could find any kind of vegetable but barely any seafood. The price of the dish is 70 euro because its for 2 persons. So, 70 Euro for some vegetables.   The folks at this place were very friendly and accommodating (e.g., tomato rice hold the green stuff ;)) when we came here for a late night meal. The food certainly looked great, but it was good going on ok. Side note, I am never ordering cockles again; the amount of meat in each wheel is simply not worth the effort, but you had me at butter / garlic / parsley. The seafood soup was a bit salty (not surprising given we were one of the last diners), the tomato rice was great, the grilled scarlet shrimp was a touch overcooked, and the cod was meh. The mussels are a must, we dipped all our bread in the sauce to try and extend the experience!! The cod a la bras is a popular dish, and definitely solid and homey but the Iberian pork cheeks stole the show for entree. Staff was friendly and gave me a tour of different parts of the restaurant and what they were before. I ordered the mussels that were soaked in flavorful sauce. Came in timely and highly recommend.   Place is nice, was probably a lot nicer. Food is a little above average but therefore overpriced. Unfortunately although you’ll hopefully come away with a good feeling due to the ambience overall you’ll likely feel let down as it could be so much more.   If you’re looking into eating some beef meat, if you are someone who likes it medium, ask for it to be well done. Because i asked for it to be medium and they gave me a Blue rare, extremely rare meat. I could barely cut it with the knife. It was just meat, uncooked at all. Very unprofessional ! I was very dissapointed and very grossed about this experience , it was horrible. It made me wanna throw up. And i payed 25 euros for that.   The host was very helpful and accommodating even if I was just 1 person dining. I only had a beer and a fish seafood soup, which was really delicious and comforting after a long day of touring. Wish I had more days to try other food on the menu.   This restaurant's setting is absolutely beautiful. But we had a bad experience there and wouldn't recommend it. The waiter convinced us to get the lobster special, saying the cost would be similar to the tiger shrimp we originally ordered. Unfortunately the lobster was undercooked and twice the cost of the shrimp. When we asked the waiter about it, he just shrugged.   Don't worth the price, I had a very bad experience, the food was not well served, not tasty, the fish was very dry and salty...and its a very expensive restaurant and they don't have the minimum of "presentation" of the dish, they just serve like something amateur.   Our party of 6 had lunch here and it was nothing short of extraordinary - the ambiance was awesomely unique, the food was delicious, and the service was phenomenal. My father likes to sample local lamb dishes at all of his travels and all of the tastings he's had, the lamb shank here is THE best 👌. I agree - best lamb dish ever! We also had the mussels and a couple of steaks - all were so tasty 😋 Will definitely stop by again when we're in town. Mahalo for an experience we'll remember for a long while, Trindade!   The history is really interesting and the inside of the restaurant is amazing. Our food was good but definitely undercooked. The waiter insisted that my wife's steak was medium but it was rare, I can do medium rare and this wasn't that. The beer is good, but the selection on tap is weak. Only one of "their" beers and then the same beers every restaurant has. "Their" beer is made by a brewery for them. I missed the part where this was just a beer hall.   Really nice restaurant. Authentic and not touristic. The food was really good and came in really fast. The staff is nice even tho had some issues with the drinks order, but was fixed.   Service was fast, food was very nice and we had a lovely time dining here. We enjoyed a beer and later a nice bottle of rosé. I ordered the gooseneck barnacle, the grilled fish of the day with vegetables, and my husband ordered the croquettes followed by the pork cheeks. all of the food came quickly and were cooked perfectly.   The Trindade Brewery was built in 1836 on the ruins of the Santíssima Trindade dos Frades Trinos Convent, founded at the end of the 13th century. Destroyed in 1704 by a fire, in 1755 by the famous earthquake and, in 1756, after reconstruction, by a new fire, the Convent ended up disappearing in 1834 with the extinction of the Religious Orders in Portugal. It was bought by Manoel Garcia, who set up the first brewery in Portugal here. Soon after, he opened the first Brewery, consisting of four rooms and a patio, the latter in the space formerly occupied by the Cloister. This brewery has magnificent Masonic-themed entrance panels. It is close to the Grémio Lusitano most famous for the Masonic Palace. Many agapes are held there after the evening sessions.   The beer was decent, tried a flight. The service was good. Overall the food we had lacked flavor and seasoning. The Verde soup needed a lot of pepper and salt. We shared the rice and seafood, it was pretty good, but lacked some flavor. There was a good amount of seafood. The interior is cool and lives up too the description.   Very nice seafood and local food. Can be a bit crowded in the evening. Easy to reach. The design of the restaurant is extra elegant (almost like roman bath). The water was very polite and always tending to us. We ordered a sort of steak thats a must have called bitoque. The quality was very good and it was worth it for what we paid for.   We read about this place on a RickSteves book so we went. The place is very beautiful and all stops there. We stoped for wine, beer and appetizers. The waiter came and gave us a lunch menu, when we told her we were not having lunch her attitude changed, she bought our drinks and ignored us for about 30 minutes, we tried catching her attention many times and nothing.   2023-07-31: Re-doing this review as Google Maps refuses to publish my original review. In a nutshell, this restaurant closed for over a year for remodeling. Since they returned, the food quality has been very poor. They changed their once-famous steak sauce, and the new version is overloaded with tarragon and nothing like the original. Steaks are overdone and the quality of their fries has gone south too. Some once great dishes, like their "pica-pau", are now pretty much inedible and very poorly prepared. Since their traffic is now 90% tourists that come for the history of the building and restaurant, and don't know any better, management has simply decided not to care for the quality of the food they are selling. I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a teenager, 30+ years ago. I was very excited to come and see the remodeled restaurant. Unfortunately, the "new" Trindade is a total disappointment and not worth the visit.   Stumbled across the place around lunchtime. Place is beautiful and also has a quiet courtyard for outside dining. Were not really hungry but the appetizing display of local tapas at the bar were too tempting to resist. A couple who was eating there made a sign to show us food was excellent. We went for it. Started with the roefish salad and an octopus salad. Added on the bachalau salad with chickpeas. All accompanied with warm bread. A pint of local beer and a small crab tart. Eur12.00 for 2 of us.   Overall, okay restaurant and a bit pricey. I was recommended this restaurant by a tour guide. 1) Appetizer - crab meat. (Around 7.50 EURO). Would not recommend. It basically tasted like crab mayo salad. It was decent with bread but I was hoping for more fresh crab meat versus crab meat that tasted something I could get from a cheap supermarket. 2) Entree #1 - Pork Leg. (Around 16.50 EURO). Pretty good! Juicy and super tender. The skin was crunchy and flavorful. However there was A LOT of fat surrounding the meat. Would recommend. - Came with oven baked potato chips were tasty and addicting. 3) Entree #2 - sirloin steak. (Around 15.50 EURO). would not recommend. It was small and super flat. A little too well done. And was drowned in a tasty sauce. However, if a steak is drowned in sauce, it basically means it isn't good. - it came with fries that we're regular French fries similar to McDonald's (but not as salted).   Oh the clams!! And the jumbo prawns!! This place looks like an tourist trap, monastery theme, huge eating hall with terrible lighting etc... but the service was great, and the food was absolutely delicious!! We just had the clams in garlic and the jumbo prawns which are the size of my forearm, both were delicious, being that Lisbon is a food lovers town we ate light so that we could bounce around town tasing other delights this town has to offer.   Must NOT GO There It’s was AWFUL experience ever in my life. I normally don’t write reviews but it was so discussing things so I want to share everyone about it. When I had a seafood risotto, I found a CHEWING GUM in inside. It was Blue colour and Sticky. I noticed it was a chewing gum as I couldn’t finish biting. Yes, I had it which someone biting. We said about it to the waiters as soon as they throw it away then they started lying. They said “it’s something lobster things”. Later they showed a Lobster which was fresh one and explained to us but it was so speedy and they were so pushy, then I couldn’t see anything like I had. They just offered us no charge for risotto. I think they wanted to finish our conversation soon. So I PAID the other dishes. I think they should not charge everything though. They’re so Liars ! Don’t trust everyone.   The small red sign on the street was an understatement of what lay behind. The old brewery interior was inviting, filled with the smell of their signature sea food dishes. Nuno Gomes, our waiter was fantastic! Entertaining & always ready to make a recommendation. Looking for a steak dish, I had the Nacos De Lonbo à Frei Pica Pau (500g), which was simply superb! I highly recommend. My girlfriend had the Entrecote De Angus which she described as delicious & very soft. Both portions were generous & we had almost no room for desert. Nuno convinced us to share a slice of their chocolate cake which is the best we have ever had. Soft, rich, moist, sweet, insane! Would highly recommend!   What an interesting location! Used to be a monastery, then a Freemason lodge, and now houses a classic beerhouse with a fabulous choice of seafood and a super friendly service.   Great seafood place with amazing history and very, very tasty food. The place is located in an old monastery and a small closed courtyard place as well. The seafood is always fresh and well cooked, we had the seafood rice and it was difficult to finish between the four of us, mind you we had quite a few starters as well.   The bar food here was authentic and good, while the bartenders didn't speak much English but we're very friendly. Great atmosphere and bohemian beer!
