  The service was very friendly and professional but the food was simply bad. The veal terrine didn’t taste like anything and was overwhelmed by leaves and edible flowers that tasted bitter. The mussels were not good quality (tiny, dry) and the broth was very flat too. The steak was well cooked and the sauce was nice. The lamb was dry.   Had a tasting menu with wine, and we honestly just didn't like the food, which was one of the worst we had in Lisbon. No wine was memorable. Of note, we weren't asked once how the food was and the restaurant just had tourists.   We had a team work dinner here and it was amazing. We were in Lisbon for a week and the entire team agreed this was the best food we had in Lisbon. I got the octopus, melted in your mouth. And the pumpkin crème brûlée. Perfection on both. The staff were great and the atmosphere too. 100% will visit again. Thank you for the great experience.   Best experience ever! We booked from google, very convenient. Food was perfectly cooked and presented like arts. The waiters came to check our feedback and needs now and then, and they were really friendly. They speak perfectly English. It is a lovely place and you would not be disappointed at your choice. If we come back to Lisbon again, I would love to eat here again. We recommend mushroom soup, tuna, local style meat stew and chocolate cake. The restaurant located a little bit high up so better go there with Uber. About the tip, they give options with 10% tip or without, but I think the service worth it.   Very nice little restaurant, our server was adorable, very good advice for the wines that accompanied our dishes and also for my boyfriend who didn't drink wine, he was able to offer him an alcohol that fit perfectly with his dish.   I could not disagree more with tall the reviews here. This is a major tourist trap full of loud Americans. I order a lamb that was overcooked and barely edible.   Excellent food and service. Very nice ambience. A cross between fine dining and casual, so prices are a bit higher but worth it. Perfect portions, not too little and not too much. Balanced flavors using all local ingredients and perfectly cooked. I can't tell you how many places I've been to that overcook or undercook fish and meat despite the high end appearance of the restaurant. This is not one of those places! Service was very attentive and I love that there was only soft music in the background and not horrible loud pop music. All in all a highly recommended restaurant. Will definitely return.   They accept reservations on google so feel save booking in it. We tried only the octopus because we were not very hungry. It is really tender and tasty. I have rarely tried an octopus that way.   Great location to have locally prepared Portuguese favours. Food - We ordered the Octopus and house stew main, along with the lamb appetizer. All were delicious in their own right. The tenderness of the Octopus was something we’ve not had in North America while the house stew was intriguing with its mixture of meats. Service and Atmosphere - the restaurant and waiters were welcoming, took their time explaining each h dish and we did not feel out of place.   The best dinner I have had during my stay in Lisbon. I had dinner with friends and was my best experience. The food was very well cooked, elaborated and they take care of every detail when arranging the elements on the plate. The combination of all the elements does make an excellent outcome. Apart from the fine cuisine, the service is paralleled to the experience. They all are very nice and took very good care of us. Finally, the restaurant is cozy and has a very nice atmosphere and background music, making and overall excellent experience. I will for sure come back in my next stay.   Big gap from the ratings I followed to choose the restaurant and the dinner I have had. Went for dinner (booked the same day). Venue is very nice and cozy (small place, few tables and nice jazz playlist) and service serving giving attention and explanations. We started with a Carapau de escabeche (baked bread with marinated herrings, foie gras and grilled goat cheese on top. Nice combination, but cheese was covering rye taste of the other ingredients. Then we had a Raia de contrada (ray fish) served with a coriander sauce , raw and fried oysters, smashed potatoes and fried sweet potatoes. Also here good combination of tastes, but unfortunately the ray was not properly cooked. Then we had roasted lamb sett ed with chestnut puree, boiled chestnut and mushrooms. Finally something balanced and tasty. We then finished with pumpkin crème brûlée (tasty, but not super since it was served cold, maybe forgotten to bake in the oven) and millefoglie with mele cotogne and apples. Also in this case an eatable dessert, but a warm-up in the oven would have given a better taste. We made the wIter aware of the cold crème brûlée , and he simply said it was strange, since it is baked in the oven. Prices were adequate to the dinner we had, but quality of food was expected at a different level. So, all in all, pretty disappointed. Finalizamos com crème brûlée de abóbora (gostoso, mas não super pois foi servido frio, talvez esquecido de assar no forno) e milfoglie com mele cotogne e maçãs. Também neste caso uma sobremesa comestível, mas quente - no forno teria dado um sabor melhor. Avisamos o wIter sobre o crème brûlée frio, e ele simplesmente disse que era estranho, já que é assado no forno. Os preços eram adequados ao jantar que tivemos, mas a qualidade da comida era esperada em um nível diferente. Então, apesar de tudo, muito decepcionado.

  Def our fav spot in Lisbon for perfect food! The seafood is very delicious. We were at BAHR the night before, but this place tops it easily! Interesting enough we ordered the same main courses without realizing it, and Versiculo is much better and bigger portions with better presentation as well! The pictures speak for themselves, there was an older waiter man who was very kind and super professional, halfway throughout our dinner we requested to move to another table since two guests showed up extremely sick coughing and sneezing right next to us. The waiter quickly let us move without even saying anything although we already created a mess on our table lol.   Located in the middle of the bustling street this restaurant offers an elegant atmosphere. The waiter was polite, but not at all friendly and welcoming. We ordered an octopus and a pink swordfish. Portions were quite small. The octopus was chewy and almost had no taste at all, which is very disappointing for its price. The swordfish was well-cooked, but such a tiny piece I didn't even have a chance to savor it. Overall this restaurant is pricy, and the quality of the food and the mood itself were not the best in our opinion.   Found this restaurant by reviews on Google. Went there to eat octopus. We did expect grilled octopus. However, it is boiled and then covered in olive oil, just so you know and don't get your expectations wrong.   After reading the reviews we had hugh expectations for this place and saved it for our last night given its much pricier than other restaurants in the area. Well what a disappointment!! First off they allowed someone else to rudely cut in front of us and take the last outdoor table. We were then late to be seated for our reservation, which happens and isn't a big deal but there was no apology. Our server was very rude to a point where we actually felt uncomfortable whenever he came over.   I really wanted to give this charming and beautiful establishment a 5 star since everything was so wonderful except for my main course the cod which came out cold, the main reason I wanted to visit here to enjoy the best cod that’s famous for in Portugal 😭 I wish I claimed it to the wait staff as I took my first bite but I had 3 other guests with me and didn’t want to make a scene or came off difficult so I just decided unnoticed 😞 but the flavor was lovely. And yes I’ll come try again with this beautiful spot on my next visit for sure!   Really, really, outstanding seafood! I can highly recommend the octopus and the tuna - both are not only best quality but also come with perfect sides and are extremely well seasoned. That said, all other seafood we had was exceptionally good as well. The meat options at least looked good as well, but I think you would miss out on the real highlights, which are seafood.   We had a dinner in this nice restaurant. The food was extraordinary good. I had an octopus which was just delicious. The service was very friendly and polite. Our waiter spoke excellent English. Pricing was ok. The only thing I did not like was that they tentatively added 10% service fee to the check. Even if it was tentative it is not good service. In Europe we tip only when we like the service a lot. In this case I would have tipped anyway but in another case it would have been a little akward that you actually would have to take the tip away.   Maybe we had a bad day here, but overall this place is only okay. Did not feel welcome here at all. Our waiter never asked us how we wanted our meat selection, then minutes later asks the table next to us in detail how they want theirs served. The vibe just felt off here unfortunately.   Came here with my husband on our last night in Lisbon on a fluke when we couldn’t get into another restaurant nearby. We were the first patrons of the night so the servers were incredibly attentive. We ordered a spectacular bottle of wine and enjoyed two appetizers (razor clams with green bean tempura + peppers with cod). The peppers were INCREDIBLE. A must eat. The best thing we’ve eaten in Portugal so far (and we have tried a lot of different dishes!). We then ordered the octopus and the lamb. Both dishes were huge. The octopus was the most tender we have ever enjoyed but unfortunately the lamb was very over cooked. Must have been a one off incident because otherwise the restaurant is wonderful. We ordered meringues for dessert which were light and flavorful. Definitely recommend!!   Cream soup - Fantastic Octopus - Well made, great presentation. Chocolate lava cake - Great flavor and texture, ice cream was somewhat disappointing due to gritty ice crystals. Lamb leg - Dry. I wouldn't have served this any guests if I was in the kitchen. We came in at the beginning of dinner service so I was puzzled on how it was possible IF it was prepared to order.   Great food above all the octopus but also the bacalhao in general all the dishes are quite goot. The bread tough was a bit old and hard. Very disappointing that they don't take credit card therefore they force you to withdraw to the ATM in front of the restaurant that take very high commission. It's 2022 and a restaurant that has an average price of 40-50eur per person and do not accept credit card it's not acceptable and make them to lose 2 stars!   A great restaurant, with fine vino and excellent service. For starters we had the cream soup which was delicious and the shrimps was good as well.   I will never understand the need or value of treating people badly. The waiter really looked down on us, we arrived side to side to another couple that also didn’t do a reservation, the waiter was treating them so kindly and us so rude. To a point in which when we got seated (side to side from them) he took their order (us we had chosen already, menu’s closed) and he ignored us, he made us wait 25 mins, the couple had their dishes and we were just ordering (yes we wanted to stand up and leave but didn’t wanted to give him so much power) anyway; I had an entry of liver it was delicious, the octopus is great for sure, the desserts, please avoid them, just have anything else in another place.   I had dinner here on the last evening of my stay in Lisbon, and I could not have hoped for better. The place is far superior to the myriad of places in the noisy Bairro Alto neighbour (some of which are excellent) and the price is moderate compared to the quality of the food. The restaurant has a large selection of wines, including quite a few available by the glass. As a starter I had the caldo verde soup, which was flavoursome, but delicate. It was light enough to be eaten on a warm night. As a main I had the octopus which was beautifully served, melted in the mouth and tasted delicious. The other diners really enjoyed their fish soup, chicken livers with pears and madeira wine, and the entrecôte which they both had as their main. We finished with three different deserts, which were all delicious. One minor quibble is that they don’t take credit cards, which I think that a restaurant of this level really ought to accept. However, this would not lower my rating and I would still strongly suggest this place. I will certainly make sure to visit again, when next in Lisbon!   I am very glad I had dinner here. I found it by filtering for highest ratings, then my hotel's concierge told me it was the place he goes for octopus. He called to make sure they were still open, and was informed they would seat me if I arrived quickly, though they were about to close. They actually stayed open just for me! I intended to go for the shrimp, but decided to also try the octopus. I got both (far too much for 1 person) and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. This was my first time eating octopus, and I was worried it would be chewy. But it was so tender, and they let the ingredients shine.   Thia place is just a small pearl in the middle of Lisbon. We actually wanted to go to the O Faia Fado restaurant but there was no space so we decided to go to their "restaurant only" place.   You might miss it unless you get off the big street. There are many restaurants that come alive at night what it might look like a small side street. We ordered Cod and Octopus. Octopus was the best I have had so far. Not too chewy and not too hard. A good amount of potatoes with a very soft onion and garlic baked in its shell. Spinach and olives was a perfect pairing.   We unfortunately do not agree with the good ratings at all: Food is far below average, and for this rather expensive price tag far away from a reasonable price-value-relation. Starting with complicated reservations, which give an impression of a very busy restaurant, which is not the case, until a service that was far below expectations (e.g. waited a long time before plates got cleared, tea was provided with normal milk instead of oat milk as ordered, only cash payments allowed, very hard and uncomfortable worden chairs), but more importantly the food was really not good at all: Only one out of 6 dishes has been reasonable good, while the rest tasted like warmed up frozen food, including the fish soup and the octopus. The unfortunate end was a food poising. Not recommendable at all. There are way too many really good restaurants in Lisbon (e.g. A Nossa Casa one block away) in order to go here.   Went twice because the service was great and the restaurant relaxing. Twice I got the octopus because this is one of the few places where they will swap the potatoes for double the spinach. Yum. My husband loved the fish soup and the chicken livers, and lamb. The shrimp app was tasty and arrived already cleaned - a nice touch not to mess up your hands removing tails! Nice touch to have blankets when dining outside. Somewhat expensive wine markup. Our meals with 2 apps, 2 mains, and some wine - no dessert - was just under 100 EUR.   Booked a table here having read all the positive reviews. It's a small restaurant on the corner in the vibrant little streets of Lisbon. Seating outside available however we preferred inside on this evening. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a nice vibe. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful with the menu & wine selection. We shared prawns to start but found them a bit chewy. The oil they ere served in was tasty.   Must be the best restaurant in the centre of Lisbon. We discovered it by coincidence and were lucky that we could get a table inside without making a reservation. (It's better if you do).   Walked in and sat outside, not a problem for me. Totally worth the prices. I'm usually scared of ordering steak in a restaurant, but it was DELICIOUS! Every single dish we cleared fully and I'd eat them all again. We got a whole pitcher of white sangria and enjoyed that alongside every course, and it lasted two people the whole meal. We had the Orange Roll and the Milk Meringue for dessert and it was similarly tasty. We only spoke English and had no problem.   We had a very nice dinner here. I had beef entrecote and my wife had a mushroom risotto from the vegan menu. Before, we ate shrimp with garlic sauce and sautéed poultry liver.   Amazing dinner in Lisbon at a great price. Order their signature dish - the baked octopus, and the entrecote, they are both so delicious.   For our final meal of our holiday, we chose this tiny restaurant. Actually, the good, authentic ones are usually tiny. Started with garlic prawns. And shared a very tasty dried salted cod Faia style, baked in mayo, mashed potato and onion sauce. They surprised us with a shrimp hidden in the cod. Finally, the thinly sliced, grilled black pork loin was surprisingly juicy yet crispy on the edges. A fitting end to our Portugal holiday.   Amazing last meal in Portugal. We sampled from all around the menu, and EVERYTHING was fresh and superb. Everyone around us was commenting on how excellent their food was. This place is tiny— make a reservation, or simply stop in, if there’s a wait, put your name on the (short) list, and step across the street to one of several bars and have a drink. The service was excellent, the ambiance was good, and the bill was NOT overpriced at all. We would never be able to get a meal this great in the states for so little. I WILL be back. Just wonderful.   Perfect place for a late dinner! Menu includes all traditional portugese dishes with a chef’s twist, everything is superdelicious and portions of food and drinks are really generous. Price’s are average for a city center. Service is great. We’ve been here 2 times during our stay in Lisbon and haven’t got any negative experience. Highly reccomend!   I found this place based on google map rankings and after shortlisting and vising the place I manage to get a table (mind - Saturday night many places can be fully booked and you might need to wait for a long time to get a spare table - I managed to sit down in less than 45 mins!)... however, if you are prepared to wait, I could bet you will be fully repaid by an excellent food experience! Any plate, from the starter to the final port wine was excellent. The customer service was flawless and very professional. I really warmly recommend this place, I wish I could put a sixth star on it!   Elegant place that stands out from the tourist places around. Ambiance is cozy with Jazzy music and relieving from the noisy nearabouts outside. Food is tasty, portions are really large enough, prices affordable, and nice staff. You might need to make a reservation or take a walk around before there is room after they write down your name on the list.   Tried to walk in without reservation and ended up making one for an hour later. When we returned there was no available tables because some customers were taking their sweet time. They apologized and brought us out two very nice glasses of wine. After about 15 minutes of waiting they apologized further and set up a new table outside.   Fantastic seafood in this restaurant at a great price and very well located in the city too. The portion sizes are large! I got a full octopus with potatoes and spinach for €18. You just wouldn't normally get anywhere near a full one so would have happily paid same price for a third of that size.   BEST OCTOPUS EVER! I could never give better compliments. I’ve read some reviews complaining about the availability and this is indeed the case, you should book in advance because it gets full very fast. I booked my table 2 days in advance. DELICIOUS food and shared kitchen with the restaurant aside (O Faia) where you would pay more than double for the same meal. Don’t think twice, BOOK and GO!!!! + very friendly staff!   Phenomenal experience here at Versículo d’O Faia. It is a fine dining experience at a very reasonable price (average price per plate approximately 15 € ). The environment was intimate but not crowded, the food was superb, but the service really set this place above and beyond everything we have had in Lisbon. Highly recommended. It’s worth a visit!
