  Amazing place with great food and atmosphere! It was by far the best octopus I’ve ever tried, and sides were extraordinary. The cod ragout was also delicious!   Everything was excellent. We started with the sheep’s milk cheese appetizer—creamy deliciousness! I had the traditional codfish stew and my wife had the octopus in olive oil and wine. Again, amazing! The goat cheese with quince cake dessert was not on the online menu, but I would definitely recommend it, too!   Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Little off the path and I think that's what makes this place great. Authentic Portuguese food and the owners were very kind and welcoming. For food, this was the best octopus we had our whole trip. Recommend the lemon chicken meal for something simpler and still delicious. The owner's daughter is a talented artist and we ended up purchasing a few of her works as a souvenir. Highly recommend if you are looking for a charming, authentic night in Lisbon.   Perfect. And that is a rare thing. To call this home cooking would be accurate in the sense that it is honest, beautiful fresh ingredients and cooked with love. But it is much, much more than that, elevated by exquisite sense and a breadth of imagination that makes it so unique and so memorable. For those who love genuine food this is the place. The owners are charming and the place is a delight, small, cosy and relaxed. Nothing false. Just delicious glorious good. Do try the octopus cooked in a red wine sauce.   Small portions which didn't satisfy my appetite (& I am not a big eater!). Very small amounts of fish / meat in the dishes. It is an intimate setting but such a tiny restaurant that there is very little table space between diners and it felt like bring insomeone's living room. It is really warm, welcoming, family restaurant, with Portuguese classics that you may know, but elevated and more delicious than anywhere else. If you are searching for typical, well known Portuguese dishes and drinks - you will get them here in the best form ever. But if you want something not as much know, just ask and they will recommend you some really nice traditional things, that you most probably won’t be able to experience in more touristic places. We have stayed in the Principe Real area, but walked and Ubered far and wide Last night we walked about 10” from our flat to Mercearia do Século It was the best experience we have ever had in Portugal Yes it is small and getting reservations is not easy. But the few quests will receive the personal attention of the owner and realize that nothing gets to the table un-inspected. Yes it is traditional Portuguese food, but with its own spin. A level of cuisine s service and atmosphere far above the price charged Go…and be sure to order the rabbit! This is not flash food it is delicious food made with a strong sense of using the freshest ingredients and working with Portuguese classics with a twist. Our Cod liver salad was delicious as was our Game Pater (wild boar) and the rabbit main course was a beautiful melt in your mouth dish. The sheeps milk pie was a twist on a cheesecake with carmelised egg yolk (delicious).   What a wonderful little restaurant. My partner and me ate here twice during our week in Lisbon last spring. The first time we got lucky, and got seats without a reservation, but definitely call in advance because the place is small and fills up quickly. Most amazing food, we tried different dishes and they were all incredibly good. Refined and balanced traditional Portuguese food that will almost make you cry. The owner is such a warm and welcoming person too. I have recommended this restaurant to every person I met that was going to Lisbon. We will definitely be back!! We stumbled upon this place and despite not having reservations, the staff was extremely accommodating and made sure we were able to eat despite having limited time.   You go there for the food and linger for the hospitality. The couple who runs it are so kind and you feel like you’re part of the family. They take the time to talk to everyone in the restaurant. I went late and didn’t have a reservation but they were able to seat me in a few minutes, but I would recommend a reservation. If I had to pick my favorite place in Lisbon this would be it a place where you understand the people and culture at the soul of of the city. I had the olives, codfish and finished with the best chocolate cake ever. Every little detail was perfect. If you come to Lisbon this is a must.   Truly an incredible experience. The best Portuguese food i've ever tasted. The atmosphere was incredibly authentic, with beautiful decor. Even the crockery themselves were handmade! The service was also truly incredible. Our server was incredibly friendly - even going so far as to allow my sister to have the mango sorbet from the panna cotta on its own - and food arrived very quickly. Speaking of the food: every single thing i tasted was a masterclass in food. The lemon and egg yolk chicken was stunning, the duck gizzards and chorizo were exquisite, and the panna cotta was a once in a lifetime experience that i will not ever forget.   Stumbled upon this little gem one of the nights when my boyfriend and I were in Lisbon. The owner of the restaurant was a lovely lady who found us a spot at the table outside when we didn’t have a reservation booked. We sat next to this adorable family and had a lovely chat with them!   I think this was my favourite meal in Lisbon so far. Right when I was at the door I was greeted with smiles and felt very welcomed. They are so so kind.   This was easily one of the best meals I've ever had. The food was absolutely superb and clearly made from fresh ingredients by a wonderful chef. The octopus in particular was cooked to perfection which is so rare to find. We had the tomatada codfish (prepared with a broth of chopped tomatoes), thankfully not very salty, particularly for cod. It hit the spot. We also had the rabbit, which had a slightly pickled flavor and rested on top of a bed of cabbage. Tasty and soft. The soup of the day was delicious, made with squash, lentils and coconut milk. The restaurant is small, and the tables even smaller. It can get a bit tight. But it has cute drawings on the walls and oozes the neo-traditional vibe that the golden hipster years made popular.   If I could give 10 stars - I would. We got lucky to be seated: you need to get a reservation ahead. Everything what we ordered had a unique taste. Cheese as appetizer and dried tuna dish - amazing. As the main course we had chicken, vegetarian option and rabbit also amazing. As a not chocolate lovers - we finished the chocolate desert cake in seconds. Very homey vibe and comfortable atmosphere.   If you’re only going to eat at one place in Lisbon, eat here. This is a family-run bistro (she’s a passionate cook, he’s a brilliant host) and they change the menu seasonally. We ordered the eggplant, cod fish with scrambled egg, octopus, gaspacho, and chicken with egg yolk. Everything was amazing but our favourites were the cod fish (crispy potato on the top) and the octopus (perfectly cooked which is so rare to find!). We’d definitely come back simply because the service was amazing, but genuinely one of the best finds in the neighbourhood.   Update: We went back in 2022 and it was just as wonderful as we remembered! Food is delicious (new menu of course) and service is great. The dessert of Bolo de laranja is FANTASTIC! We went here last year in 2018 and the service and quality of food were excellent. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for an intimate and romantic date. The fish with polenta was a little bit better but nothing special. The cheapest bottle of wine if I am not mistaken was 16,5 euros. We paid around 55 euros for two persons (two main dishes, one apetiser, dessert and glasses of wine. and we did not really enjoy it. It was very disappointed since in many sites they suggest it is as one of the best restaurants in lisbon with value of money but the quality of the food was irrelevant to the price. We went for late lunch and even though the lady wasn't cooking anymore she agreed to serve us.
